Questions About Namaz (Salah) Timings

How are Islamic prayer times calculated?

Prayer times are calculated based on the astronomical position of the sun relative to your geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). Fajr begins at dawn (subh sadiq), Dhuhr when the sun crosses the meridian, Asr when shadow lengths reach the prescribed ratio, Maghrib at sunset, and Isha when night darkness settles.

What is the difference between Hanafi and Standard Asr time?

Under the Standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) jurisprudence, Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its length plus the midday shadow. In the Hanafi school, Asr begins when the shadow equals twice its length plus the midday shadow, which is slightly later.

What time is Suhoor (Sehri) and Iftar today?

Suhoor ends at the start of Fajr time, while Iftar begins immediately at Maghrib (sunset). The countdown and timing table above updates live for your exact coordinates.

How do I find the Qibla direction for prayer?

The Qibla direction is the shortest path (great-circle bearing) from your location toward the Holy Kaaba in Makkah. You can see the degree angle in the Namaz widget above.
