Ruku 496
1 Surahs7 Versesركوع 496
66:1
يَـٰٓ أَيُّهَا
O
Prophet
لِمَ
Why (do)
تُحَرِّمُ
you prohibit
مَآ
what
أَحَلَّ
has made lawful
Allah
لَكَۖ
for you
تَبۡ تَغِى
seeking
مَرۡضَاتَ
(to) please
أَزۡوٰ جِكَۚ
your wives
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
Most Merciful
O Prophet, why do you prohibit [yourself from] what Allāh has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
66:2
قَدۡ
Indeed
فَرَضَ
has ordained
Allah
لَكُمۡ
for you
تَحِلَّةَ
(the) dissolution
أَيۡمَـٰ نِكُمۡۚ
(of) your oaths
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
مَوۡلَـٰ كُمۡۖ
(is) your Protector
وَهُوَ
and He
(is) the All-Knower
the All-Wise
Allāh has already ordained for you [Muslims] the dissolution of your oaths.1 And Allāh is your protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise.
66:3
وَإِذۡ
And when
أَسَرَّ
confided
the Prophet
إِلَىٰ
to
بَعۡضِ
one
أَزۡوٰ جِهِۦ
(of) his wives
حَدِيثًا
a statement
and when
نَبَّأَتۡ
she informed
بِهِۦ
about it
وَأَظۡهَرَهُ
and made it apparent
Allah
عَلَيۡهِ
to him
عَرَّفَ
he made known
بَعۡضَهُۥ
a part of it
وَأَعۡرَضَ
and avoided
عَنۢ
[of]
a part
Then when
نَبَّأَهَا
he informed her
بِهِۦ
about it
قَالَتۡ
she said
مَنۡ
Who
أَنۢب َأَكَ
informed you
هَـٰ ذَاۖ
this
قَالَ
He said
نَبَّأَنِىَ
Has informed me
the All-Knower
the All-Aware
And [remember] when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement; and when she informed [another] of it and Allāh showed it to him, he made known part of it and ignored a part. And when he informed her about it, she said, "Who told you this?" He said, "I was informed by the Knowing, the Aware."
66:4
إِن
If
you both turn
إِلَى
to
Allah
فَقَدۡ
so indeed
صَغَتۡ
(are) inclined
قُلُوبُكُمَاۖ
your hearts
وَإِن
but if
you backup each other
عَلَيۡهِ
against him
فَإِنّ َ
then indeed
Allah
هُوَ
He
مَوۡلَـٰ هُ
(is) his Protector
وَجِبۡ رِيلُ
and Jibreel
وَصَـٰ لِحُ
and (the) righteous
believers
وَٱ لۡمَلَـٰٓ ئِكَةُ
and the Angels
بَعۡدَ
after
ذٰ لِكَ
that
ظَهِي رٌ
٤(are his) assistants
If you two [wives] repent to Allāh, [it is best], for your hearts have deviated. But if you cooperate against him - then indeed Allāh is his protector, and Gabriel and the righteous of the believers and the angels, moreover, are [his] assistants.
66:5
عَسَىٰ
Perhaps
رَبُّهُۥٓ
his Lord
إِن
if
he divorced you
أَن
[that]
He will substitute for him
أَزۡوٰ جًا
wives
خَيۡرًا
better
than you
مُسۡلِمَـٰ تٍ
submissive
faithful
obedient
repentant
عَـٰ بِدٰ تٍ
who worship
who fast
previously married
and virgins
Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you - submitting [to Allāh], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling1 - [ones] previously married and virgins.
66:6
يَـٰٓ أَيُّهَا
O
(you) who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
قُوٓ اۡ
Protect
أَنف ُسَكُمۡ
yourselves
وَأَهۡلِيكُمۡ
and your families
نَارًا
(from) a Fire
whose fuel
(is) people
وَٱ لۡحِجَارَةُ
and stones
عَلَيۡهَا
over it
مَلَـٰٓ ئِكَةٌ
(are) Angels
غِلَاظٌ
stern
severe
not
يَعۡصُونَ
they disobey
Allah
مَآ
(in) what
أَمَرَهُمۡ
He Commands them
وَيَفۡعَلُونَ
but they do
مَا
what
يُؤۡمَرُو نَ
٦they are commanded
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allāh in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
66:7
يَـٰٓ أَيُّهَا
O
(you) who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
لَا
(Do) not
تَعۡتَذِرُواۡ
make excuses
today
إِنّ َمَا
Only
تُجۡ زَوۡنَ
you will be recompensed
مَا
(for) what
كُنت ُمۡ
you used to
تَعۡمَلُو نَ
٧do
O you who have disbelieved, make no excuses that Day. You will only be recompensed for what you used to do.
