1 Surahs6 Versesركوع 478
58:1
قَدۡ
Indeed
سَمِعَ
Allah has heard
Allah has heard
قَوۡلَ
(the) speech
(of one) who
تُجَـٰ دِلُكَ
disputes with you
فِى
concerning
زَوۡجِهَا
her husband
وَتَشۡتَكِىٓ
and she directs her complaint
إِلَى
to
Allah
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
يَسۡمَعُ
hears
تَحَاوُرَكُمَآۚ
(the) dialogue of both of you
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
سَمِيعُۢ
(is) All-Hearer
All-Seer
Certainly has Allāh heard the speech of the one who argues [i.e., pleads] with you, [O Muḥammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allāh. And Allāh hears your dialogue; indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Seeing.
58:2
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
يُظَـٰ هِرُونَ
pronounce zihar
مِنك ُم
among you
[from]
(to) their wives
not
هُنّ َ
they
أُمّ َهَـٰ تِهِمۡۖ
(are) their mothers
إِنۡ
Not
أُمّ َهَـٰ تُهُمۡ
(are) their mothers
إِلَّا
except
those who
وَلَدۡ نَهُمۡۚ
gave them birth
وَإِنّ َهُمۡ
And indeed, they
لَيَقُولُونَ
surely say
مُنك َرًا
an evil
[of]
[the] word
وَزُورًاۚ
and a lie
But indeed
Allah
لَعَفُوٌّ
(is) surely, Oft-Pardoning
غَفُو رٌ
٢Oft-Forgiving
Those who pronounce ẓihār1 among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allāh is Pardoning and Forgiving.
58:3
وَٱ لَّذِينَ
And those who
يُظَـٰ هِرُونَ
pronounce zihar
مِن
[from]
(to) their wives
ثُمّ َ
then
يَعُودُونَ
go back
لِمَا
on what
قَالُواۡ
they said
فَتَحۡرِيرُ
then freeing

أَن
[that]
they touch each other
ذٰ لِكُمۡ
That
تُوعَظُونَ
you are admonished
بِهِۦ ۚ
to it
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
بِمَا
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
you do
خَبِي رٌ
٣(is) All-Aware
And those who pronounce ẓihār from their wives and then [wish to] go back on what they said - then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allāh is Aware of what you do.
58:4
فَمَن
Then whoever
(does) not
يَجِدۡ

فَصِيَامُ
then fasting

consecutively

they both touch each other
فَمَن
But (he) who

فَإِطۡ عَامُ
then (the) feeding
سِتِّينَ

مِسۡكِينًاۚ
needy one(s)
That
لِتُؤۡمِنُواۡ
so that you may believe
بِٱ للَّهِ
in Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ
and His Messenger
وَتِلۡكَ
and these
حُدُودُ
(are the) limits
(of) Allah
وَلِلۡكَـٰ فِرِينَ
and for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِي مٌ
٤painful
And he who does not find [a slave] - then a fast for two months consecutively1 before they touch one another; and he who is unable - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe [completely] in Allāh and His Messenger; and those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.
58:5
إِنّ َ
Indeed
those who
يُحَا ٓدُّونَ
oppose
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
كُبِتُواۡ
(will) be disgraced
كَمَا
as
كُبِتَ
were disgraced
those
مِن
before them
before them
وَقَدۡ
And certainly
أَنز َلۡنَآ
We have sent down

Verses
clear
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
humiliating
Indeed, those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger are abased as those before them were abased. And We have certainly sent down verses of clear evidence. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment
58:6
يَوۡمَ
(On the) Day
يَبۡ عَثُهُمُ
(when) Allah will raise them
(when) Allah will raise them
جَمِيعًا
all
and inform them
of what

a Witness
On the Day when Allāh will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did. Allāh had enumerated it, while they forgot it; and Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1
