1 Surahs13 Versesركوع 3
2:8
وَمِنَ
And of
the people
مَن
(are some) who
say
ءَامَنّ َا
We believed
بِٱ للَّهِ
in Allah
وَبِٱ لۡيَوۡمِ
and in the Day
[the] Last
وَمَا
but not
هُم
they
(are) believers (at all)
And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allāh and the Last Day," but they are not believers.
2:9
يُخَـٰ دِعُونَ
They seek to deceive
Allah
وَٱ لَّذِينَ
and those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe[d]
وَمَا
and not
يَخۡدَعُونَ
they deceive
إِلَّآ
except
أَنف ُسَهُمۡ
themselves
وَمَا
and not
يَشۡعُرُو نَ
٩they realize (it)
They [think to] deceive Allāh and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not.
2:10
فِى
In
قُلُوبِهِم
their hearts
(is) a disease
so has increased them
Allah
مَرَضًاۖ
(in) disease
and for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمُۢ
painful
because
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَكۡذِبُو نَ
١٠[they] lie
In their hearts is disease, so Allāh has increased their disease;1 and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie.
2:11
وَإِذَا
And when
قِيلَ
it is said
لَهُمۡ
to them
لَا
(Do) not
تُفۡسِدُواۡ
spread corruption
فِى
in
the earth
قَالُوٓ اۡ
they say
إِنّ َمَا
Only
نَحۡنُ
we
مُصۡلِحُو نَ
١١(are) reformers
And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers."
2:12
أَلَآ
Beware
إِنّ َهُمۡ
indeed they
هُمُ
themselves
(are) the ones who spread corruption
وَلَـٰ كِن
[and] but
not
يَشۡعُرُو نَ
١٢they realize (it)
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.
2:13
وَإِذَا
And when
قِيلَ
it is said
لَهُمۡ
to them
ءَامِنُواۡ
Believe
كَمَآ
as
ءَامَنَ
believed
the people
قَالُوٓ اۡ
they say
أَنُؤۡمِنُ
Should we believe
كَمَآ
as
ءَامَنَ
believed
the fools
أَلَآ
Beware
إِنّ َهُمۡ
certainly they
هُمُ
themselves
(are) the fools
وَلَـٰ كِن
[and] but
not
يَعۡلَمُو نَ
١٣they know
And when it is said to them, "Believe as the people have believed," they say, "Should we believe as the foolish have believed?" Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know [it] not.
2:14
وَإِذَا
And when
لَقُواۡ
they meet
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe[d]
قَالُوٓ اۡ
they say
ءَامَنّ َا
We believe[d]
وَإِذَا
But when
خَلَوۡاۡ
they are alone
إِلَىٰ
with
شَيَـٰ طِينِهِمۡ
their evil ones
قَالُوٓ اۡ
they say
إِنّ َا
Indeed, we
مَعَكُمۡ
(are) with you
إِنّ َمَا
only
نَحۡنُ
we
مُسۡتَهۡزِءُو نَ
١٤(are) mockers
And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers."
2:15
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ
mocks
بِهِمۡ
at them
وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ
and prolongs them
فِى
in
طُغۡيَـٰ نِهِمۡ
their transgression
يَعۡمَهُو نَ
١٥they wander blindly
[But] Allāh mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly.
2:16
أُوۡ لَـٰٓ ئِكَ
Those
(are) the ones who
bought
[the] astraying
بِٱ لۡهُدَىٰ
for [the] guidance
فَمَا
So not
رَبِحَت
profited
تِّجَـٰ رَتُهُمۡ
their commerce
وَمَا
and not
كَانُواۡ
were they
مُهۡتَدِي نَ
١٦guided-ones
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided.
2:17
مَثَلُهُمۡ
Their example
كَمَثَلِ
(is) like (the) example
(of) the one who
kindled
نَارًا
a fire
then, when
أَضَا ٓءَتۡ
it illuminated
مَا
what
حَوۡلَهُۥ
(was) around him
ذَهَبَ
took away
Allah
بِنُورِهِمۡ
their light
وَتَرَكَهُمۡ
and left them
فِى
in
ظُلُمَـٰ تٍ
darkness[es]
(so) not
يُبۡ صِرُو نَ
١٧(do) they see
Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allāh took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see.
2:18
صُمُّۢ
Deaf
dumb
عُمۡىٌ
blind
so they
لَا
not
يَرۡجِعُو نَ
١٨[they] will not return
Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return [to the right path].
2:19
أَوۡ
Or
كَصَيِّبٍ
like a rainstorm
from
the sky
فِيهِ
in it (are)
ظُلُمَـٰ تٌ
darkness[es]
and thunder
and lightning
They put
أَصَـٰ بِعَهُمۡ
their fingers
فِىٓ
in
ءَاذَانِهِم
their ears
from
the thunderclaps
حَذَرَ
(in) fear (of)
[the] death
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
مُحِيطُۢ
(is) [the One Who] encompasses
the disbelievers
Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But Allāh is encompassing1 of the disbelievers.
2:20
يَكَادُ
Almost
the lightning
يَخۡطَفُ
snatches away
أَبۡ صَـٰ رَهُمۡۖ
their sight
كُلَّمَآ
Whenever
أَضَا ٓءَ
it flashes
لَهُم
for them
they walk
فِيهِ
in it
وَإِذَآ
and when
أَظۡلَمَ
it darkens
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
on them
قَامُواۡۚ
they stand (still)
وَلَوۡ
And if
شَا ٓءَ
had willed
Allah
لَذَهَبَ
He would certainly have taken away
بِسَمۡعِهِمۡ
their hearing
وَأَبۡ صَـٰ رِهِمۡۚ
and their sight
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
All-Powerful
The lightning almost snatches away their sight. Every time it lights [the way] for them, they walk therein; but when darkness comes over them, they stand [still]. And if Allāh had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
