1 Surahs19 Versesركوع 262
18:83
وَيَسۡــَٔلُونَكَ
And they ask you
عَن
about
Dhul-qarnain
Dhul-qarnain
قُلۡ
Say
سَأَتۡلُواۡ
I will recite
عَلَيۡكُم
to you
about him
ذِكۡرًا
٨٣a remembrance
And they ask you, [O Muḥammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, "I will recite to you about him a report."
18:84
إِنّ َا
Indeed, We
مَكَّنّ َا
[We] established
لَهُۥ
[for] him
فِى
in
the earth
وَءَاتَيۡنَـٰ هُ
and We gave him
مِن
of
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
a means
Indeed, We established him upon the earth, and We gave him from everything a way [i.e., means].
18:85
فَأَتۡبَعَ
So he followed
سَبَبًا
٨٥a course
So he followed a way
18:86
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
بَلَغَ
he reached
مَغۡرِبَ
(the) setting place
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا
he found it
تَغۡرُبُ
setting
فِى
in
عَيۡنٍ
a spring
حَمِئَةٍ
(of) dark mud
and he found
عِند َهَا
near it
قَوۡمًاۗ
a community
We said
يَـٰ ذَا
O Dhul-qarnain
O Dhul-qarnain
إِمّ َآ
Either
أَن
[that]
you punish
وَإِمّ َآ
or
أَن
[that]
you take
فِيهِمۡ
[in] them
حُسۡنًا
٨٦(with) goodness
Until, when he reached the setting of the sun [i.e., the west], he found it [as if] setting in a body of dark water,1 and he found near it a people. We [i.e., Allāh] said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness."
18:87
قَالَ
He said
أَمّ َا
As for
مَن
(one) who
wrongs
فَسَوۡفَ
then soon
نُعَذِّبُهُۥ
we will punish him
ثُمّ َ
Then
يُرَدُّ
he will be returned
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّهِۦ
his Lord
فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ
and He will punish him
عَذَابًا
(with) a punishment
terrible
He said, "As for one who wrongs,1 we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment [i.e., Hellfire].
18:88
وَأَمّ َا
But as for
مَنۡ
(one) who
ءَامَنَ
believes
وَعَمِلَ
and does
صَـٰ لِحًا
righteous (deeds)
then for him
جَزَا ٓءً
(is) a reward
good
وَسَنَقُولُ
And we will speak
لَهُۥ
to him
مِنۡ
from
أَمۡرِنَا
our command
يُسۡرًا
٨٨(with) ease
But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have a reward of the best [i.e., Paradise], and we [i.e., Dhul-Qarnayn] will speak to him from our command with ease."
18:89
ثُمّ َ
Then
أَتۡبَعَ
he followed
سَبَبًا
٨٩(a) course
Then he followed a way
18:90
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
بَلَغَ
he reached
مَطۡ لِعَ
(the) rising place
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا
and he found it
تَطۡ لُعُ
rising
عَلَىٰ
on
قَوۡمٍ
a community
not
نَجۡ عَل
We made
لَّهُم
for them
against it
against it
سِتۡرًا
٩٠any shelter
Until, when he came to the rising of the sun [i.e., the east], he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield.
18:91
كَذٰ لِكَ
Thus
وَقَدۡ
And verily
أَحَطۡ نَا
We encompassed
بِمَا
of what
لَدَيۡهِ
(was) with him
خُبۡ رًا
٩١(of the) information
Thus.1 And We had encompassed [all] that he had in knowledge.
18:92
ثُمّ َ
Then
أَتۡبَعَ
he followed
سَبَبًا
٩٢a course
Then he followed a way.
18:93
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
بَلَغَ
he reached
بَيۡنَ
between
the two mountains
وَجَدَ
he found
مِن
besides them
besides them
قَوۡمًا
a community
not
يَكَادُونَ
who would almost
يَفۡقَهُونَ
understand
قَوۡلاً
٩٣(his) speech
Until, when he reached [a pass] between two mountains, he found beside them a people who could hardly understand [his] speech.
18:94
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰ ذَا
O Dhul-qarnain
O Dhul-qarnain
إِنّ َ
Indeed
يَأۡجُوجَ
Yajuj
وَمَأۡجُوجَ
and Majuj
مُفۡسِدُونَ
(are) corrupters
فِى
in
the land
فَهَلۡ
So may
نَجۡ عَلُ
we make
لَكَ
for you
خَرۡجًا
an expenditure
عَلَىٰٓ
[on]
أَن
that
you make
بَيۡنَنَا
between us
وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ
and between them
سَدًّا
٩٤a barrier
They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog1 are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?"
18:95
قَالَ
He said
مَا
What
مَكَّنّ ِى
has established me
فِيهِ
[in it]
رَبِّى
my Lord
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
but assist me
بِقُوَّةٍ
with strength
أَجۡ عَلۡ
I will make
بَيۡنَكُمۡ
between you
وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ
and between them
رَدۡ مًا
٩٥a barrier
He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength [i.e., manpower]; I will make between you and them a dam.
18:96
ءَاتُونِى
Bring me
زُبَرَ
sheets
(of) iron
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
سَاوَىٰ
he (had) leveled
بَيۡنَ
between
the two cliffs
قَالَ
he said
Blow
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
جَعَلَهُۥ
he made it
نَارًا
fire
he said
ءَاتُونِىٓ
Bring me
أُفۡرِغۡ
I pour
عَلَيۡهِ
over it
قِطۡ رًا
٩٦molten copper
Bring me bars of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, "Blow [with bellows]," until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper."
18:97
فَمَا
So not
they were able
أَن
to
scale it
وَمَا
and not
they were able
لَهُۥ
in it
نَقۡ بًا
٩٧(to do) any penetration
So they [i.e., Gog and Magog] were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration.
18:98
قَالَ
He said
هَـٰ ذَا
This
رَحۡمَةٌ
(is) a mercy
from
my Lord
فَإِذَا
But when
جَا ٓءَ
comes
وَعۡدُ
(the) Promise
رَبِّى
(of) my Lord
جَعَلَهُۥ
He will make it
دَكَّا ٓءَۖ
level
وَكَانَ
And is
وَعۡدُ
(the) Promise
رَبِّى
(of) my Lord
حَقًّا
٩٨true
[Dhul-Qarnayn] said, "This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord1 comes [i.e., approaches], He will make it level, and ever is the promise of my Lord true."
18:99
۞وَتَرَكۡنَا
And We (will) leave
بَعۡضَهُمۡ
some of them
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
(on) that Day
to surge
فِى
over
بَعۡضٍۖ
others
and (will be) blown
فِى
in
the trumpet
فَجَمَعۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
then We (will) gather them
جَمۡعًا
٩٩all together
And We will leave them that day1 surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly.
18:100
وَعَرَضۡنَا
And We (will) present
جَهَنّ َمَ
Hell
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
(on) that Day
to the disbelievers
عَرۡضًا
١٠٠(on) display
And We will present Hell that Day to the disbelievers, on display -
18:101
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those

had been
أَعۡيُنُهُمۡ
their eyes
فِى
within
غِطَا ٓءٍ
a cover
عَن
from
My remembrance
وَكَانُواۡ
and were
لَا
not
يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
able
سَمۡعًا
١٠١(to) hear
Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance,1 and they were not able to hear.2
