1 Surahs8 Versesركوع 242
17:23
۞وَقَضَىٰ
And has decreed
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
أَلَّا
that (do) not
تَعۡبُدُوٓ اۡ
worship
إِلَّآ
except
إِيَّاهُ
Him Alone
وَبِٱ لۡوٰ لِدَيۡنِ
and to the parents
إِحۡسَـٰ نًاۚ
(be) good
إِمّ َا
Whether
يَبۡ لُغَنّ َ
reach
عِند َكَ
with you
the old age
أَحَدُهُمَآ
one of them
أَوۡ
or
كِلَاهُمَا
both of them
فَلَا
then (do) not
تَقُل
say
لَّهُمَآ
to both of them
أُفٍّ
a word of disrespect
and (do) not
تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا
repel them
وَقُل
but speak
لَّهُمَا
to them
قَوۡلاً
a word
noble
And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"1 and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
17:24
وَٱ خۡفِضۡ
And lower
لَهُمَا
to them
جَنَاحَ
(the) wing
(of) humility
مِنَ
(out) of
[the] mercy
وَقُل
and say
رَّبِّ
My Lord
Have mercy on both of them
كَمَا
as
رَبَّيَانِى
they brought me up
صَغِيرًا
٢٤(when I was) small
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
17:25
رَّبُّكُمۡ
Your Lord
أَعۡلَمُ
(is) most knowing
بِمَا
of what
فِى
(is) in
نُفُوسِكُمۡۚ
yourselves
إِن
If
you are
صَـٰ لِحِينَ
righteous
فَإِنّ َهُۥ
then indeed, He
كَانَ
is
لِلۡأَوّٰ بِينَ
to those who often turn (to Him)
غَفُورًا
٢٥Most Forgiving
Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving.1
17:26
وَءَاتِ
And give
ذَا
the relatives
the relatives
حَقَّهُۥ
his right
وَٱ لۡمِسۡكِينَ
and the needy
وَٱ بۡ نَ
and the wayfarer
and the wayfarer
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُبَذِّرۡ
spend
تَبۡ ذِيرًا
٢٦wastefully
And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.1
17:27
إِنّ َ
Indeed
the spendthrifts
كَانُوٓ اۡ
are
إِخۡوٰ نَ
brothers
(of) the devils
وَكَانَ
And is
the Shaitaan
لِرَبِّهِۦ
to his Lord
كَفُورًا
٢٧ungrateful
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.
17:28
وَإِمّ َا
And if
تُعۡرِضَنّ َ
you turn away
عَنۡهُمُ
from them
seeking
رَحۡمَةٍ
mercy
from
your Lord
تَرۡجُوهَا
which you expect
فَقُل
then say
لَّهُمۡ
to them
قَوۡلاً
a word
gentle
And if you [must] turn away from them [i.e., the needy] awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect,1 then speak to them a gentle word.
17:29
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَجۡ عَلۡ
make
يَدَكَ
your hand
مَغۡلُولَةً
chained
إِلَىٰ
to
عُنُقِكَ
your neck
وَلَا
and not
تَبۡ سُطۡ هَا
extend it
كُلَّ
(to its) utmost
reach
فَتَقۡ عُدَ
so that you sit
مَلُومًا
blameworthy
insolvent
And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck1 or extend it completely2 and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.
17:30
إِنّ َ
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
يَبۡ سُطُ
extends
the provision
لِمَن
for whom
He wills
وَيَقۡ دِرُۚ
and straitens
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, He
كَانَ
is
بِعِبَادِهِۦ
of His slaves
خَبِيرَۢا
All-Aware
All-Seer
Indeed, your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Aware and Seeing.
