1 Surahs6 Versesركوع 228
16:35
وَقَالَ
And said
those who
أَشۡرَكُواۡ
associate partners (with Allah)
لَوۡ
If
شَا ٓءَ
Allah (had) willed
Allah (had) willed
مَا
not
عَبَدۡ نَا
we (would) have worshipped
مِن
other than Him
other than Him
مِن
any
thing
we
وَلَآ
and not
ءَابَا ٓؤُنَا
our forefathers
وَلَا
and not
حَرَّمۡنَا
we (would) have forbidden
مِن
other than Him
other than Him
مِن
anything
anything
Thus
فَعَلَ
did
those who
مِن
(were) before them
(were) before them
فَهَلۡ
Then is (there)
عَلَى
on
the messengers
إِلَّا
except
the conveyance
clear
And those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?
16:36
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
بَعَثۡنَا
We sent
فِى
into
كُلِّ
every
أُمّ َةٍ
nation
a Messenger
أَنِ
that
Worship
Allah
وَٱ جۡ تَنِبُواۡ
and avoid
the false deities
فَمِنۡهُم
Then among them
(were some) whom
هَدَى
Allah guided
Allah guided
وَمِنۡهُم
and among them
(were) some
حَقَّتۡ
was justified
عَلَيۡهِ
on them
the straying
فَسِيرُواۡ
So travel
فِى
in
the earth
فَٱ نظ ُرُواۡ
and see
كَيۡفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَـٰ قِبَةُ
the end
(of) the deniers
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt."1 And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
16:37
إِن
If
you desire
عَلَىٰ
[for]
هُدَٮٰ هُمۡ
their guidance
فَإِنّ َ
then indeed
Allah
لَا
(will) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
مَن
whom
He lets go astray
وَمَا
and not (are)
لَهُم
for them
any
helpers
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray,1 and they will have no helpers.
16:38
وَأَقۡ سَمُواۡ
And they swear
بِٱ للَّهِ
by Allah
جَهۡدَ
strongest
أَيۡمَـٰ نِهِمۡۙ
(of) their oaths
لَا
Allah will not resurrect
يَبۡ عَثُ
Allah will not resurrect
Allah will not resurrect
مَن
(one) who
dies
بَلَىٰ
Nay
وَعۡدًا
(it is) a promise
عَلَيۡهِ
upon Him
حَقًّا
(in) truth
but
أَكۡثَرَ
most
(of) the mankind
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُو نَ
٣٨know
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ
That He will make clear
لَهُمُ
to them
that
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
they differ
فِيهِ
wherein
وَلِيَعۡلَمَ
and that may know
those who
كَفَرُوٓ اۡ
disbelieved
أَنّ َهُمۡ
that they
كَانُواۡ
were
كَـٰ ذِبِي نَ
٣٩liars
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
16:40
إِنّ َمَا
Only
قَوۡلُنَا
Our Word
لِشَىۡءٍ
to a thing
إِذَآ
when
أَرَدۡ نَـٰ هُ
We intend it
أَن
(is) that
We say
لَهُۥ
to it
كُن
Be
and it is
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
