1 Surahs14 Versesركوع 202
12:80
فَلَمّ َا
So when
they despaired
مِنۡهُ
of him
خَلَصُواۡ
they secluded themselves
نَجِيًّاۖ
(in) private consultation
Said
كَبِيرُهُمۡ
the eldest among them
أَلَمۡ
Do not
تَعۡلَمُوٓ اۡ
you know
أَنّ َ
that
أَبَاكُمۡ
your father
قَدۡ
has taken
أَخَذَ
has taken
عَلَيۡكُم
upon you
a promise
by
Allah
وَمِن
and before
and before
مَا
that
فَرَّطتُمۡ
you failed
فِى
concerning
يُوسُفَۖ
Yusuf
فَلَنۡ
So never
أَبۡ رَحَ
will I leave
the land
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَأۡذَنَ
permits
لِىٓ
me
أَبِىٓ
my father
أَوۡ
or
يَحۡكُمَ
Allah decides
Allah decides
لِىۖ
for me
وَهُوَ
and He
خَيۡرُ
(is) the Best
(of) the judges
So when they had despaired of him, they secluded themselves in private consultation. The eldest of them said, "Do you not know that your father has taken upon you an oath by Allāh and [that] before you failed in [your duty to] Joseph? So I will never leave [this] land until my father permits me or Allāh decides for me,1 and He is the best of judges.
12:81
ٱرۡجِعُوٓ اۡ
Return
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَبِيكُمۡ
your father
فَقُولُواۡ
and say
يَـٰٓ أَبَانَآ
'O our father
إِنّ َ
Indeed
your son
سَرَقَ
has stolen
وَمَا
and not
شَهِدۡ نَآ
we testify
إِلَّا
except
بِمَا
of what
عَلِمۡنَا
we knew
وَمَا
And not
كُنّ َا
we were
لِلۡغَيۡبِ
of the unseen
حَـٰ فِظِي نَ
٨١guardians
Return to your father and say, 'O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen.1
12:82
وَسۡــَٔلِ
And ask
the town
where
كُنّ َا
we were
فِيهَا
[in it]
وَٱ لۡعِيرَ
and the caravan
which
أَقۡ بَلۡنَا
we returned
فِيهَاۖ
[in it]
وَإِنّ َا
And indeed, we
لَصَـٰ دِقُو نَ
٨٢surely (are) truthful.'
And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came - and indeed, we are truthful.'"
12:83
قَالَ
He said
بَلۡ
Nay
سَوَّلَتۡ
have enticed
لَكُمۡ
you
أَنف ُسُكُمۡ
your souls
أَمۡرًاۖ
something
so patience
(is) beautiful
عَسَى
Perhaps
Allah
أَن
will bring them to me
will bring them to me
بِهِمۡ
will bring them to me
جَمِيعًاۚ
all
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, He
هُوَ
He
(is) the All-Knower
All-Wise
[Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allāh will bring them to me all together. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise."
12:84
وَتَوَلَّىٰ
And he turned away
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
وَقَالَ
and said
يَـٰٓ أَسَفَىٰ
Alas, my grief
عَلَىٰ
over
يُوسُفَ
Yusuf
وَٱ بۡ يَضَّتۡ
And became white
عَيۡنَاهُ
his eyes
مِنَ
from
the grief
فَهُوَ
and he (was)
كَظِي مٌ
٨٤a suppressor
And he turned away from them and said, "Oh, my sorrow over Joseph," and his eyes became white1 from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor.2
12:85
قَالُواۡ
They said
تَٱ للَّهِ
By Allah
تَفۡتَؤُاۡ
you will not cease
تَذۡكُرُ
remembering
يُوسُفَ
Yusuf
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَكُونَ
you become
حَرَضًا
fatally ill
أَوۡ
or
تَكُونَ
become
مِنَ
of
those who perish
They said, "By Allāh, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish."
12:86
قَالَ
He said
إِنّ َمَآ
Only
أَشۡكُواۡ
I complain
بَثِّى
(of) my suffering
وَحُزۡنِىٓ
and my grief
إِلَى
to
Allah
وَأَعۡلَمُ
and I know
مِنَ
from
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُو نَ
٨٦you know
He said, "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allāh, and I know from Allāh that which you do not know.
12:87
يَـٰ بَنِىَّ
O my sons
Go
فَتَحَسَّسُواۡ
and inquire
مِن
about
Yusuf
وَأَخِيهِ
and his brother
وَلَا
and not
تَاۡ يۡــَٔسُواۡ
despair
مِن
of
(the) Mercy of Allah
(the) Mercy of Allah
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed
لَا
none
يَاۡ يۡــَٔسُ
despairs
مِن
of
(the) Mercy of Allah
(the) Mercy of Allah
إِلَّا
except
the people
the disbelievers
O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allāh. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allāh except the disbelieving people."
12:88
فَلَمّ َا
So when
دَخَلُواۡ
they entered
عَلَيۡهِ
upon him
قَالُواۡ
they said
يَـٰٓ أَيُّهَا
O Aziz
O Aziz
مَسَّنَا
Has touched us
وَأَهۡلَنَا
and our family
the adversity
وَجِئۡنَا
and we have come
بِبِضَـٰ عَةٍ
with goods
(of) little value
but pay (in) full
لَنَا
to us
the measure
وَتَصَدَّقۡ
and be charitable
عَلَيۡنَآۖ
to us
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
يَجۡ زِى
rewards
the charitable
So when they entered upon him [i.e., Joseph], they said, "O ʿAzeez, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allāh rewards the charitable."
12:89
قَالَ
He said
هَلۡ
Do
عَلِمۡتُم
you know
what
فَعَلۡتُم
you did
with Yusuf
وَأَخِيهِ
and his brother
إِذۡ
when
أَنت ُمۡ
you were
جَـٰ هِلُو نَ
٨٩ignorant
He said, "Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?"
12:90
قَالُوٓ اۡ
They said
أَءِنّ َكَ
Are you indeed
لَأَنت َ
surely you
يُوسُفُۖ
Yusuf
قَالَ
He said
أَنَاۡ
I am
يُوسُفُ
Yusuf
وَهَـٰ ذَآ
and this
أَخِىۖ
(is) my brother
قَدۡ
Indeed
مَنّ َ
Allah has been gracious
Allah has been gracious
عَلَيۡنَآۖ
to us
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, he
مَن
who
fears Allah
وَيَصۡبِرۡ
and (is) patient
فَإِنّ َ
then indeed
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يُضِيعُ
let go waste
أَجۡ رَ
(the) reward
(of) the good-doers
They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allāh has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allāh and is patient, then indeed, Allāh does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good."
12:91
قَالُواۡ
They said
تَٱ للَّهِ
By Allah
لَقَدۡ
certainly
ءَاثَرَكَ
Allah has preferred you
Allah has preferred you
عَلَيۡنَا
over us
وَإِن
and indeed
we have been
لَخَـٰ طِــِٔي نَ
٩١sinners
They said, "By Allāh, certainly has Allāh preferred you over us, and indeed, we have been sinners."
12:92
قَالَ
He said
لَا
No
تَثۡرِيبَ
blame
عَلَيۡكُمُ
upon you
today
يَغۡفِرُ
Allah will forgive
Allah will forgive
لَكُمۡۖ
you
وَهُوَ
and He
أَرۡحَمُ
(is) the Most Merciful
(of) those who show mercy
He said, "No blame will there be upon you today. May Allāh forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.
12:93
ٱذۡهَبُواۡ
Go
بِقَمِيصِى
with this shirt of mine
هَـٰ ذَا
with this shirt of mine
فَأَلۡقُوهُ
and cast it
عَلَىٰ
over

(the) face
أَبِى
(of) my father
يَأۡتِ
he will regain sight
بَصِيرًا
he will regain sight
And bring to me
بِأَهۡلِكُمۡ
your family
أَجۡ مَعِي نَ
٩٣all together
Take this, my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father; he will become seeing. And bring me your family, all together."
