11:50
وَإِلَىٰ
And to
عَادٍ
Aad
أَخَاهُمۡ
(We sent) their brother
هُودًاۚ
Hud
He said
يَـٰ قَوۡمِ
O my people
Worship
Allah
مَا
not
لَكُم
(is) for you
any
إِلَـٰ هٍ
god
غَيۡرُهُۥٓۖ
other than Him
إِنۡ
Not
أَنت ُمۡ
you
إِلَّا
(are) but
مُفۡتَرُو نَ
٥٠inventors
And to ʿAad [We sent] their brother Hūd. He said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood].
11:51
يَـٰ قَوۡمِ
O my people
لَآ
Not
أَسۡــَٔلُكُمۡ
I ask you
عَلَيۡهِ
for it
أَجۡ رًاۖ
any reward
إِنۡ
Not
أَجۡ رِىَ
(is) my reward
إِلَّا
except
عَلَى
from
the One Who
فَطَرَنِىٓۚ
created me
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَعۡقِلُو نَ
٥١you use reason
O my people, I do not ask you for it [i.e., my advice] any reward. My reward is only from the one who created me. Then will you not reason?
11:52
وَيَـٰ قَوۡمِ
And O my people
Ask forgiveness
رَبَّكُمۡ
(of) your Lord
ثُمّ َ
then
تُوبُوٓ اۡ
turn in repentance
إِلَيۡهِ
to Him
يُرۡسِلِ
He will send
(from) the sky (rain)
عَلَيۡكُم
upon you
(in) abundance
and increase you
قُوَّةً
(in) strength
إِلَىٰ
(added) to
قُوَّتِكُمۡ
your strength
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَتَوَلَّوۡاۡ
turn away
مُجۡ رِمِي نَ
٥٢(as) criminals
And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals."
11:53
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰ هُودُ
O Hud
مَا
You have not brought us
جِئۡتَنَا
You have not brought us
بِبَيِّنَةٍ
clear proofs
and not
نَحۡنُ
we
بِتَارِكِىٓ
(will) leave
ءَالِهَتِنَا
our gods
عَن
on
your saying
وَمَا
and not
نَحۡنُ
we (are)
لَكَ
in you
بِمُؤۡمِنِي نَ
٥٣believers
They said, "O Hūd, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so. Nor are we believers in you.
11:54
إِن
Not
we say
إِلَّا
except (that)
have seized you
بَعۡضُ
some
ءَالِهَتِنَا
(of) our gods
بِسُو ٓءٍۗ
with evil
He said
إِنّ ِىٓ
Indeed, I
أُشۡهِدُ
[I] call Allah to witness
[I] call Allah to witness
وَٱ شۡهَدُوٓ اۡ
and (you) bear witness
أَنّ ِى
that I am
بَرِى ٓءٌ
innocent
of what
تُشۡرِكُو نَ
٥٤you associate
We only say that some of our gods have possessed you with evil [i.e., insanity]." He said, "Indeed, I call Allāh to witness, and witness [yourselves] that I am free from whatever you associate with Allāh
11:55
مِن
Other than Him
Other than Him
فَكِيدُونِى
So plot against me
جَمِيعًا
all together
then
لَا
(do) not
تُنظ ِرُو نِ
٥٥give me respite
Other than Him. So plot against me all together; then do not give me respite.
11:56
إِنّ ِى
Indeed, I
تَوَكَّلۡتُ
[I] put my trust
عَلَى
upon
Allah
رَبِّى
my Lord
وَرَبِّكُمۚ
and your Lord
(There is) not
مِن
of a moving creature
of a moving creature
إِلَّا
but
هُوَ
He

has grasp
of its forelock
إِنّ َ
Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
صِرٰ طٍ
a path
straight
Indeed, I have relied upon Allāh, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds it by its forelock [i.e., controls it]. Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight.
11:57
فَإِن
So if
you turn away
فَقَدۡ
then verily
أَبۡ لَغۡتُكُم
I have conveyed to you
what
أُرۡسِلۡتُ
I was sent
بِهِۦٓ
with [it]
إِلَيۡكُمۡۚ
to you
وَيَسۡتَخۡلِفُ
And my Lord will give succession
رَبِّى
And my Lord will give succession
قَوۡمًا
(to) a people
غَيۡرَكُمۡ
other than you
وَلَا
and not
تَضُرُّونَهُۥ
you will harm Him
شَيۡــًٔاۚ
(in) anything
إِنّ َ
Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
كُلِّ
all
شَىۡءٍ
things
حَفِي ظٌ
٥٧a Guardian
But if you turn away, then I have already conveyed that with which I was sent to you. My Lord will give succession to a people other than you, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed my Lord is, over all things, Guardian."1
11:58
وَلَمّ َا
And when
جَا ٓءَ
came
أَمۡرُنَا
Our command
نَجَّيۡنَا
We saved
هُودًا
Hud
and those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believed
مَعَهُۥ
with him
بِرَحۡمَةٍ
by a Mercy
from Us
وَنَجَّيۡنَـٰ هُم
and We saved them
from
عَذَابٍ
a punishment
غَلِي ظٍ
٥٨severe
And when Our command came, We saved Hūd and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh punishment.
11:59
وَتِلۡكَ
And this
عَادٌۖ
(was) Aad
they rejected
بِـَٔـايَـٰ تِ
(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمۡ
(of) their Lord
وَعَصَوۡاۡ
and disobeyed
رُسُلَهُۥ
His Messengers
وَٱ تَّبَعُوٓ اۡ
and followed
أَمۡرَ
(the) command
كُلِّ
(of) every
جَبَّارٍ
tyrant
عَنِي د ٍ
٥٩obstinate
And that was ʿAad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant.
11:60
وَأُتۡبِعُواۡ
And they were followed
فِى
in
هَـٰ ذِهِ
this
world
لَعۡنَةً
(with) a curse
and (on the) Day
(of) the Resurrection
أَلَآ
No doubt
إِنّ َ
Indeed
عَادًا
Aad
disbelieved
رَبَّهُمۡۗ
their Lord
أَلَا
So
بُعۡدًا
away
with Aad
(the) people
هُو د ٍ
٦٠(of) Hud
And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, ʿAad denied their Lord; then away with ʿAad, the people of Hūd.
