1 Surahs5 Versesركوع 161
9:38
يَـٰٓ أَيُّهَا
O you who believe
O you who believe
ءَامَنُواۡ
O you who believe
مَا
What
لَكُمۡ
(is the matter) with you
إِذَا
when
قِيلَ
it is said
لَكُمُ
to you
go forth
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
(of) Allah
you cling heavily
إِلَى
to
the earth
أَرَضِيتُم
Are you pleased
with the life
(of) the world
مِنَ
(rather) than
the Hereafter
فَمَا
But what
مَتَـٰ عُ
(is the) enjoyment
(of) the life
(of) the world
فِى
in (comparison to)
the hereafter
إِلَّا
except
قَلِي لٌ
٣٨a little
O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allāh, you adhere heavily to the earth?1 Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little.
9:39
إِلَّا
If not
تَنف ِرُواۡ
you go forth
يُعَذِّبۡ كُمۡ
He will punish you
عَذَابًا
(with) a painful punishment
أَلِيمًا
(with) a painful punishment
and will replace you
قَوۡمًا
(with) a people
غَيۡرَكُمۡ
other than you
وَلَا
and not
تَضُرُّوهُ
you can harm Him
شَيۡــًٔاۗ
(in) anything
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
All-Powerful
If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace you with another people, and you will not harm Him at all. And Allāh is over all things competent.
9:40
إِلَّا
If not
تَنص ُرُوهُ
you help him
فَقَدۡ
certainly
نَصَرَهُ
Allah helped him
Allah helped him
إِذۡ
when
أَخۡرَجَهُ
drove him out
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
ثَانِىَ
the second
(of) the two
إِذۡ
when
هُمَا
they both
فِى
(were) in
the cave
إِذۡ
when
يَقُولُ
he said
لِصَـٰ حِبِهِۦ
to his companion
لَا
(Do) not
تَحۡزَنۡ
grieve
إِنّ َ
indeed
Allah
مَعَنَاۖ
(is) with us
فَأَنز َلَ
Then Allah sent down
Then Allah sent down
سَكِينَتَهُۥ
His tranquility
عَلَيۡهِ
upon him
وَأَيَّدَهُۥ
and supported him
بِجُنُودٍ
with forces
which you did not see
تَرَوۡهَا
which you did not see
وَجَعَلَ
and made
كَلِمَةَ
(the) word
(of) those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
the lowest
وَكَلِمَةُ
while (the) Word
(of) Allah
هِىَ
it (is)
the highest
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِي مٌ
٤٠All-Wise
If you do not aid him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] - Allāh has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two,1 when they were in the cave and he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allāh is with us." And Allāh sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with soldiers [i.e., angels] you did not see and made the word2 of those who disbelieved the lowest,3 while the word of Allāh4 - that is the highest. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
9:41
ٱنف ِرُواۡ
Go forth
خِفَافًا
light
or heavy
and strive
بِأَمۡوٰ لِكُمۡ
with your wealth
وَأَنف ُسِكُمۡ
and your lives
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
(of) Allah
ذٰ لِكُمۡ
That
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
for you
إِن
if
you
تَعۡلَمُو نَ
٤١know
Go forth, whether light or heavy,1 and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allāh. That is better for you, if you only knew.
9:42
لَوۡ
If
كَانَ
it had been
عَرَضًا
a gain
near
and a journey
easy
surely they (would) have followed you
وَلَـٰ كِنۢ
but
was long
عَلَيۡهِمُ
for them
the distance
وَسَيَحۡلِفُونَ
And they will swear
بِٱ للَّهِ
by Allah
لَوِ
If
we were able
لَخَرَجۡ نَا
certainly we (would) have come forth
مَعَكُمۡ
with you
يُهۡلِكُونَ
They destroy
أَنف ُسَهُمۡ
their own selves
وَٱ للَّهُ
and Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
إِنّ َهُمۡ
(that) indeed, they
لَكَـٰ ذِبُو نَ
٤٢(are) surely liars
Had it been a near [i.e., easy] gain and a moderate trip, they [i.e., the hypocrites] would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allāh,1 "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allāh knows that indeed they are liars.
