Ruku 156

1 Surahs6 Versesركوع 156
9:1
بَرَآءَةٌ
Freedom from obligations
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ
and His Messenger
إِلَى
to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those (with) whom
عَـٰهَدتُّم
you made a covenant
مِّنَ
from
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
١
[This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allāh and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the polytheists.1
9:2
فَسِيحُواۡ
So move about
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
أَرۡبَعَةَ
(during) four
أَشۡهُرٍ
months
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاۡ
but know
أَنَّكُمۡ
that you
غَيۡرُ
(can) not
مُعۡجِزِى
escape
ٱللَّهِ‌ۙ
Allah
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مُخۡزِى
(is) the One Who (will) disgrace
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
٢
So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allāh and that Allāh will disgrace the disbelievers.
9:3
وَأَذٰنٌ
And an announcement
مِّنَ
from Allah
ٱللَّهِ
from Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ
and His Messenger
إِلَى
to
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people
يَوۡمَ
(on the) day
ٱلۡحَجِّ
(of) the greater Pilgrimage
ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ
(of) the greater Pilgrimage
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
بَرِىٓءٌ
(is) free from obligations
مِّنَ
[of]
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ‌ۙ
(to) the polytheists
وَرَسُولُهُۥ‌ۚ
and (so is) His Messenger
فَإِن
So if
تُبۡتُمۡ
you repent
فَهُوَ
then, it is
خَيۡرٌ
best
لَّكُمۡ‌ۖ
for you
وَإِن
But if
تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ
you turn away
فَٱعۡلَمُوٓاۡ
then know
أَنَّكُمۡ
that you
غَيۡرُ
(can) not
مُعۡجِزِى
escape
ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ
Allah
وَبَشِّرِ
And give glad tidings
ٱلَّذِينَ
(to) those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
بِعَذَابٍ
of a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
painful
٣
And [it is] an announcement from Allāh and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage1 that Allāh is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allāh.2 And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment.
9:4
إِلَّا
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
those (with) whom
عَـٰهَدتُّم
you have a covenant
مِّنَ
among
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
ثُمَّ
then
لَمۡ
not
يَنقُصُوكُمۡ
they have failed you
شَيۡــًٔا
(in any) thing
وَلَمۡ
and not
يُظَـٰهِرُواۡ
they have supported
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
against you
أَحَدًا
anyone
فَأَتِمُّوٓاۡ
so fulfil
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
to them
عَهۡدَهُمۡ
their treaty
إِلَىٰ
till
مُدَّتِهِمۡ‌ۚ
their term
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يُحِبُّ
loves
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
the righteous
٤
Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allāh loves the righteous [who fear Him].
9:5
فَإِذَا
Then when
ٱنسَلَخَ
have passed
ٱلۡأَشۡهُرُ
the sacred months
ٱلۡحُرُمُ
the sacred months
فَٱقۡتُلُواۡ
then kill
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
حَيۡثُ
wherever
وَجَدتُّمُوهُمۡ
you find them
وَخُذُوهُمۡ
and seize them
وَٱحۡصُرُوهُمۡ
and besiege them
وَٱقۡعُدُواۡ
and sit (in wait)
لَهُمۡ
for them
كُلَّ
(at) every
مَرۡصَدٍ‌ۚ
place of ambush
فَإِن
But if
تَابُواۡ
they repent
وَأَقَامُواۡ
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتَوُاۡ
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
the zakah
فَخَلُّواۡ
then leave
سَبِيلَهُمۡ‌ۚ
their way
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
٥
And when the inviolable months1 have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakāh, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
9:6
وَإِنۡ
And if
أَحَدٌ
anyone
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
ٱسۡتَجَارَكَ
seek your protection
فَأَجِرۡهُ
then grant him protection
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَسۡمَعَ
he hears
كَلَـٰمَ
(the) Words of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) Words of Allah
ثُمَّ
Then
أَبۡلِغۡهُ
escort him
مَأۡمَنَهُۥ‌ۚ
(to) his place of safety
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّهُمۡ
(is) because they
قَوۡمٌ
(are) a people
لَّا
(who) do not know
يَعۡلَمُونَ
(who) do not know
٦
And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allāh [i.e., the Qur’ān]. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.
