The Divorce12 Verses4 Hadithsmadinah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

65:1
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
Prophet
إِذَا
When
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
[the] women
فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ
then divorce them
لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ
for their waiting period
وَأَحۡصُواۡ
and keep count
ٱلۡعِدَّةَ‌ۖ
(of) the waiting period
وَٱتَّقُواۡ
and fear
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
رَبَّكُمۡ‌ۖ
your Lord
لَا
(Do) not
تُخۡرِجُوهُنَّ
expel them
مِنۢ
from
بُيُوتِهِنَّ
their houses
وَلَا
and not
يَخۡرُجۡنَ
they should leave
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَأۡتِينَ
they commit
بِفَـٰحِشَةٍ
an immorality
مُّبَيِّنَةٍ‌ۚ
clear
وَتِلۡكَ
And these
حُدُودُ
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
(of) Allah
وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَعَدَّ
transgresses
حُدُودَ
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
فَقَدۡ
then certainly
ظَلَمَ
he has wronged
نَفۡسَهُۥ‌ۚ
himself
لَا
Not
تَدۡرِى
you know
لَعَلَّ
Perhaps
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يُحۡدِثُ
will bring about
بَعۡدَ
after
ذٰلِكَ
that
أَمۡرًا
a matter
١
O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period,1 and fear Allāh, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allāh has certainly wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allāh will bring about after that a [different] matter.2
65:2
فَإِذَا
Then when
بَلَغۡنَ
they have reached
أَجَلَهُنَّ
their term
فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
then retain them
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
with kindness
أَوۡ
or
فَارِقُوهُنَّ
part with them
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
with kindness
وَأَشۡهِدُواۡ
And take witness
ذَوَىۡ
two men
عَدۡلٍ
just
مِّنكُمۡ
among you
وَأَقِيمُواۡ
and establish
ٱلشَّهَـٰدَةَ
the testimony
لِلَّهِ‌ۚ
for Allah
ذٰلِكُمۡ
That
يُوعَظُ
is instructed
بِهِۦ
with it
مَن
whoever
كَانَ
[is]
يُؤۡمِنُ
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
and the Day
ٱلۡأَخِرِ‌ۚ
the Last
وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَّقِ
fears
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَجۡعَل
He will make
لَّهُۥ
for him
مَخۡرَجًا
a way out
٢
And when they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms. And bring to witness two just men from among you and establish the testimony for [the acceptance of] Allāh. That is instructed to whoever should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. And whoever fears Allāh - He will make for him a way out1
65:3
وَيَرۡزُقۡهُ
And He will provide for him
مِنۡ
from
حَيۡثُ
where
لَا
not
يَحۡتَسِبُ‌ۚ
he thinks
وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَوَكَّلۡ
puts his trust
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
فَهُوَ
then He
حَسۡبُهُۥٓ‌ۚ
(is) sufficient for him
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
بَـٰلِغُ
(will) accomplish
أَمۡرِهِۦ‌ۚ
His purpose
قَدۡ
Indeed
جَعَلَ
has set
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
لِكُلِّ
for every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
قَدۡرًا
a measure
٣
And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allāh - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allāh will accomplish His purpose. Allāh has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
65:4
وَٱلَّــٰٓــِٔى
And those who
يَئِسۡنَ
have despaired
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمَحِيضِ
the menstruation
مِن
among
نِّسَآئِكُمۡ
your women
إِنِ
if
ٱرۡتَبۡتُمۡ
you doubt
فَعِدَّتُهُنَّ
then their waiting period
ثَلَـٰثَةُ
(is) three
أَشۡهُرٍ
months
وَٱلَّــٰٓــِٔى
and the ones who
لَمۡ
not
يَحِضۡنَ‌ۚ
[they] menstruated
وَأُوۡلَـٰتُ
And those who (are)
ٱلۡأَحۡمَالِ
pregnant
أَجَلُهُنَّ
their term
أَن
until
يَضَعۡنَ
they deliver
حَمۡلَهُنَّ‌ۚ
their burdens
وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَّقِ
fears
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَجۡعَل
He will make
لَّهُۥ
for him
مِنۡ
of
أَمۡرِهِۦ
his affair
يُسۡرًا
ease
٤
And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women - if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth.1 And whoever fears Allāh - He will make for him of his matter ease.
65:5
ذٰلِكَ
That
أَمۡرُ
(is the) Command
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
أَنزَلَهُۥٓ
which He has sent down
إِلَيۡكُمۡ‌ۚ
to you
وَمَن
and whoever
يَتَّقِ
fears
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يُكَفِّرۡ
He will remove
عَنۡهُ
from him
سَيِّـَٔـاتِهِۦ
his evil deeds
وَيُعۡظِمۡ
and make great
لَهُۥٓ
for him
أَجۡرًا
(his) reward
٥
That is the command of Allāh, which He has sent down to you; and whoever fears Allāh - He will remove for him his misdeeds and make great for him his reward.
65:6
أَسۡكِنُوهُنَّ
Lodge them
مِنۡ
from
حَيۡثُ
where
سَكَنتُم
you dwell
مِّن
(out) of
وُجۡدِكُمۡ
your means
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُضَآرُّوهُنَّ
harm them
لِتُضَيِّقُواۡ
to distress
عَلَيۡهِنَّ‌ۚ
[on] them
وَإِن
And if
كُنَّ
they are
أُوۡلَـٰتِ
those (who are)
حَمۡلٍ
pregnant
فَأَنفِقُواۡ
then spend
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
on them
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَضَعۡنَ
they deliver
حَمۡلَهُنَّ‌ۚ
their burden
فَإِنۡ
Then if
أَرۡضَعۡنَ
they suckle
لَكُمۡ
for you
فَـَٔـاتُوهُنَّ
then give them
أُجُورَهُنَّ‌ۖ
their payment
وَأۡتَمِرُواۡ
and consult
بَيۡنَكُم
among yourselves
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ‌ۖ
with kindness
وَإِن
but if
تَعَاسَرۡتُمۡ
you disagree
فَسَتُرۡضِعُ
then may suckle
لَهُۥٓ
for him
أُخۡرَىٰ
another (women)
٦
Lodge them1 [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them in order to oppress them.2 And if they should be pregnant, then spend on them until they give birth. And if they breastfeed for you, then give them their payment and confer among yourselves in the acceptable way; but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for him [i.e., the father] another woman.3
65:7
لِيُنفِقۡ
Let spend
ذُو

سَعَةٍ
(of) ample means
مِّن
from
سَعَتِهِۦ‌ۖ
his ample means
وَمَن
and (he) who

is restricted
عَلَيۡهِ
on him
رِزۡقُهُۥ
his provision
فَلۡيُنفِقۡ
let him spend
مِمَّآ
from what
ءَاتَـٰهُ
he has been given
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
(by) Allah
لَا
Does not
يُكَلِّفُ

ٱللَّهُ
Allah
نَفۡسًا
any soul
إِلَّا
except
مَآ
(with) what
ءَاتَـٰهَا‌ۚ
He has given it
سَيَجۡعَلُ
Will bring about
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بَعۡدَ
after
عُسۡرٍ
hardship
يُسۡرًا
ease
٧
Let a man of wealth spend from his wealth, and he whose provision is restricted - let him spend from what Allāh has given him. Allāh does not charge a soul except [according to] what He has given it. Allāh will bring about, after hardship, ease [i.e., relief].
65:8
وَكَأَيِّن
And how many
مِّن
of
قَرۡيَةٍ

And whoever believes in Allāh and does righteousness - He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein forever. Allāh will have perfected for him a provision.

It is Allāh who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them.1 [His] command descends among them so you may know that Allāh is over all things competent and that Allāh has encompassed all things in knowledge.
