إِنَّآ
Indeed We
أَنذَرۡنَـٰكُمۡ
[We] have warned you
عَذَابًا

the disbeliever
يَـٰلَيۡتَنِى
O I wish
كُنتُ
I were
تُرٰبَۢا
dust
٤٠

79:1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ
By those who extract
غَرۡقًا
violently
١
By those [angels] who extract with violence1
79:2
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ
And those who draw out
نَشۡطًا
gently
٢
And [by] those who remove with ease1
79:3
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ

And those who arrange [each] matter,1
79:6
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
تَرۡجُفُ
will quake
ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

تَتۡبَعُهَا
Follows it
ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
the subsequent
٧
There will follow it the subsequent [one].
79:8
قُلُوبٌ
Hearts
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
وَاجِفَةٌ
will palpitate
٨
Hearts,1 that Day, will tremble,
79:9
أَبۡصَـٰرُهَا
Their eyes
خَـٰشِعَةٌ
humbled
٩
Their eyes1 humbled.
79:10
يَقُولُونَ
They say
أَءِنَّا
Will we
لَمَرۡدُودُونَ
indeed be returned
فِى
to
ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ
the former state
١٠
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?
79:11
أَءِذَا
What! When
كُنَّا
we are
عِظَـٰمًا
bones
نَّخِرَةً
decayed
١١
Even if we should be decayed bones?"1
79:12
قَالُواۡ
They say
تِلۡكَ
This
إِذًا
then
كَرَّةٌ
(would be) a return
خَاسِرَةٌ
losing
١٢
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."1
79:13
فَإِنَّمَا
Then only
هِىَ
it
زَجۡرَةٌ
(will be) a shout
وٰحِدَةٌ
single
١٣
Indeed, it will be but one shout,
79:14
فَإِذَا
And behold
هُم
They
بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
(will be) awakened
١٤
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
79:15
هَلۡ
Has
أَتَـٰكَ
(there) come to you
حَدِيثُ
(the) story
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
١٥
Has there reached you the story of Moses? -
79:16
إِذۡ
When
نَادَٮٰهُ
called him
رَبُّهُۥ
his Lord
بِٱلۡوَادِ
in the valley
ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ
the sacred
طُوًى
(of) Tuwa
١٦
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā,
79:17
ٱذۡهَبۡ
Go
إِلَىٰ
to
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
طَغَىٰ
(has) transgressed
١٧
"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.
79:18
فَقُلۡ
And say
هَل
Would
لَّكَ
[for] you
إِلَىٰٓ
[to]
أَن
[that]
تَزَكَّىٰ
purify yourself
١٨
And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
79:19
وَأَهۡدِيَكَ
And I will guide you
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
فَتَخۡشَىٰ
so you would fear
١٩
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"
79:20
فَأَرَٮٰهُ
Then he showed him
ٱلۡأَيَةَ
the sign
ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
the great
٢٠
And he showed him the greatest sign,1
79:21
فَكَذَّبَ
But he denied
وَعَصَىٰ
and disobeyed
٢١
But he [i.e., Pharaoh] denied and disobeyed.
79:22
ثُمَّ
Then
أَدۡبَرَ
he turned his back
يَسۡعَىٰ
striving
٢٢
Then he turned his back, striving [i.e., plotting].1
79:23
فَحَشَرَ
And he gathered
فَنَادَىٰ
and called out
٢٣
And he gathered [his people] and called out.
79:24
فَقَالَ
Then he said
أَنَاۡ
I am
رَبُّكُمُ
your Lord
ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
the Most High
٢٤
And said, "I am your most exalted lord."
79:25
فَأَخَذَهُ
So seized him
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
نَكَالَ
(with) an exemplary punishment
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
(for) the last
وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
and the first
٢٥
So Allāh seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].1.
79:26
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَعِبۡرَةً
surely (is) a lesson
لِّمَن
for whoever
يَخۡشَىٰٓ
fears
٢٦
Indeed in that is a lesson [i.e., warning] for whoever would fear [Allāh].
79:27
ءَأَنتُمۡ
Are you
أَشَدُّ
a more difficult
خَلۡقًا
creation
أَمِ
or
ٱلسَّمَآءُ‌ۚ
the heaven
بَنَـٰهَا
He constructed it
٢٧
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? He [i.e., Allāh] constructed it.
79:28
رَفَعَ
He raised
سَمۡكَهَا
its ceiling
فَسَوَّٮٰهَا
and proportioned it
٢٨
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
79:29
وَأَغۡطَشَ
And He darkened
لَيۡلَهَا
its night
وَأَخۡرَجَ
and brought out
ضُحَـٰهَا
its brightness
٢٩
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.1
79:30
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
And the earth
بَعۡدَ
after
ذٰلِكَ
that
دَحَـٰهَآ
He spread it
٣٠
And after that He spread the earth.
79:31
أَخۡرَجَ
He brought forth
مِنۡهَا
from it
مَآءَهَا
its water
وَمَرۡعَـٰهَا
and its pasture
٣١
He extracted from it its water and its pasture,
79:32
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ
And the mountains
أَرۡسَـٰهَا
He made them firm
٣٢
And the mountains He set firmly
79:33
مَتَـٰعًا
(As) a provision
لَّكُمۡ
for you
وَلِأَنۡعَـٰمِكُمۡ
and for your cattle
٣٣
As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
79:34
فَإِذَا
But when
جَآءَتِ
comes
ٱلطَّآمَّةُ
the Overwhelming Calamity
ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
the great
٣٤
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity1 -
79:35
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
يَتَذَكَّرُ
will remember
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
man
مَا
what
سَعَىٰ
he strove (for)
٣٥
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,
79:36
وَبُرِّزَتِ
And will be made manifest
ٱلۡجَحِيمُ
the Hellfire
لِمَن
to (him) who
يَرَىٰ
sees
٣٦
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -
79:37
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
مَن
(him) who
طَغَىٰ
transgressed
٣٧
So as for he who transgressed
79:38
وَءَاثَرَ
And preferred
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
٣٨
And preferred the life of the world,
79:39
فَإِنَّ
Then indeed
ٱلۡجَحِيمَ
the Hellfire
هِىَ
it
ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
(is) the refuge
٣٩
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
79:40
وَأَمَّا
But as for
مَنۡ
(him) who
خَافَ
feared
مَقَامَ
standing
رَبِّهِۦ
(before) his Lord
وَنَهَى
and restrained
ٱلنَّفۡسَ
his soul
عَنِ
from
ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
the vain desires
٤٠
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord1 and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
79:41
فَإِنَّ
Then indeed
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
Paradise
هِىَ
it (is)
ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
the refuge
٤١
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
79:42
يَسۡــَٔلُونَكَ
They ask you
عَنِ
about
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
the Hour
أَيَّانَ
when
مُرۡسَـٰهَا
(is) its arrival
٤٢
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?1
79:43
فِيمَ
In what
أَنتَ
(are) you
مِن
[of]
ذِكۡرَٮٰهَآ
(to) mention it
٤٣
In what [position] are you that you should mention it?1
79:44
إِلَىٰ
To
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
مُنتَهَـٰهَآ
(is) its finality
٤٤
To your Lord is its finality.1
79:45
إِنَّمَآ
Only
أَنتَ
you
مُنذِرُ
(are) a warner
مَن
(for him) who
يَخۡشَـٰهَا
fears it
٤٥
You are only a warner for those who fear it.
79:46
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
As though they
يَوۡمَ
(the) Day
يَرَوۡنَهَا
they see it
لَمۡ
not
يَلۡبَثُوٓاۡ
they had remained
إِلَّا
except
عَشِيَّةً
an evening
أَوۡ
or
ضُحَـٰهَا
a morning thereof
٤٦
It will be, on the Day they see it,1 as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
80:1
عَبَسَ
He frowned
وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
and turned away
١
He [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ) ] frowned and turned away
80:2
أَن
Because
جَآءَهُ
came to him
ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ
the blind man
٢
Because there came to him the blind man,1 [interrupting].
80:3
وَمَا
But what
يُدۡرِيكَ
would make you know
لَعَلَّهُۥ
that he might
يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
purify himself
٣
But what would make you perceive, [O Muḥammad], that perhaps he might be purified1
80:4
أَوۡ
Or
يَذَّكَّرُ
be reminded
فَتَنفَعَهُ
so would benefit him
ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰٓ
the reminder
٤
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
80:5
أَمَّا
As for
مَنِ
(him) who
ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
considers himself free from need
٥
As for he who thinks himself without need,1
80:6
فَأَنتَ
So you
لَهُۥ
to him
تَصَدَّىٰ
give attention
٦
To him you give attention.
80:7
وَمَا
And not
عَلَيۡكَ
upon you
أَلَّا
that not
يَزَّكَّىٰ
he purifies himself
٧
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.1
80:8
وَأَمَّا
But as for
مَن
(he) who
جَآءَكَ
came to you
يَسۡعَىٰ
striving
٨
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
80:9
وَهُوَ
While he
يَخۡشَىٰ
fears
٩
While he fears [Allāh],
80:10
فَأَنتَ
But you
عَنۡهُ
from him
تَلَهَّىٰ
(are) distracted
١٠
From him you are distracted.
80:11
كَلَّآ
Nay
إِنَّهَا
Indeed, it
تَذۡكِرَةٌ
(is) a reminder
١١
No! Indeed, they [i.e., these verses] are a reminder;
80:12
فَمَن
So whosoever
شَآءَ
wills
ذَكَرَهُۥ
may remember it
١٢
So whoever wills may remember it.1
80:13
فِى
In
صُحُفٍ
sheets
مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
honored
١٣
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
80:14
مَّرۡفُوعَةٍ
Exalted
مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ
purified
١٤
Exalted and purified,
80:15
بِأَيۡدِى
In (the) hands
سَفَرَةٍ
(of) scribes
١٥
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,
80:16
كِرَامِۭ
Noble
بَرَرَةٍ
dutiful
١٦
Noble and dutiful.
80:17
قُتِلَ
Is destroyed
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
[the] man
مَآ
how
أَكۡفَرَهُۥ
ungrateful is he
١٧
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] is man;1 how disbelieving is he.
80:18
مِنۡ
From
أَىِّ
what
شَىۡءٍ
thing
خَلَقَهُۥ
He created him
١٨
From what thing [i.e., substance] did He create him?
80:19
مِن
From
نُّطۡفَةٍ
a semen-drop
خَلَقَهُۥ
He created him
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
then He proportioned him
١٩
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;1
80:20
ثُمَّ
Then
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
the way
يَسَّرَهُۥ
He made easy for him
٢٠
Then He eased the way for him;1
80:21
ثُمَّ
Then
أَمَاتَهُۥ
He causes him to die
فَأَقۡبَرَهُۥ
and provides a grave for him
٢١
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.1
80:22
ثُمَّ
Then
إِذَا
when
شَآءَ
He wills
أَنشَرَهُۥ
He will resurrect him
٢٢
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
80:23
كَلَّا
Nay
لَمَّا
Not
يَقۡضِ
he has accomplished
مَآ
what
أَمَرَهُۥ
He commanded him
٢٣
No! He [i.e., man] has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
80:24
فَلۡيَنظُرِ
Then let look
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
the man
إِلَىٰ
at
طَعَامِهِۦٓ
his food
٢٤
Then let mankind look at his food -
80:25
أَنَّا
That [We]
صَبَبۡنَا
[We] poured
ٱلۡمَآءَ
the water
صَبًّا
(in) abundance
٢٥
How We poured down water in torrents,
80:26
ثُمَّ
Then
شَقَقۡنَا
We cleaved
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
the earth
شَقًّا
splitting
٢٦
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
80:27
فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا
Then We caused to grow
فِيهَا
therein
حَبًّا
grain
٢٧
And caused to grow within it grain
80:28
وَعِنَبًا
And grapes
وَقَضۡبًا
and green fodder
٢٨
And grapes and herbage
80:29
وَزَيۡتُونًا
And olive
وَنَخۡلاً
and date-palms
٢٩
And olive and palm trees
80:30
وَحَدَآئِقَ
And gardens
غُلۡبًا
(of) thick foliage
٣٠
And gardens of dense shrubbery
80:31
وَفَـٰكِهَةً
And fruits
وَأَبًّا
and grass
٣١
And fruit and grass -
80:32
مَّتَـٰعًا
(As) a provision
لَّكُمۡ
for you
وَلِأَنۡعَـٰمِكُمۡ
and for your cattle
٣٢
[As] enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
80:33
فَإِذَا
But when
جَآءَتِ
comes
ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
the Deafening Blast
٣٣
But when there comes the Deafening Blast1
80:34
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
يَفِرُّ
will flee
ٱلۡمَرۡءُ
a man
مِنۡ
from
أَخِيهِ
his brother
٣٤
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
80:35
وَأُمِّهِۦ
And his mother
وَأَبِيهِ
and his father
٣٥
And his mother and his father
80:36
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ
And his wife
وَبَنِيهِ
and his children
٣٦
And his wife and his children,
80:37
لِكُلِّ
For every
ٱمۡرِىٍٕ
man
مِّنۡهُمۡ
among them
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
شَأۡنٌ
(will be) a matter
يُغۡنِيهِ
occupying him
٣٧
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.1
80:38
وُجُوهٌ
Faces
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
مُّسۡفِرَةٌ
(will be) bright
٣٨
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
80:39
ضَاحِكَةٌ
Laughing
مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةٌ
rejoicing at good news
٣٩
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
80:40
وَوُجُوهٌ
And faces
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
عَلَيۡهَا
upon them
غَبَرَةٌ
(will be) dust
٤٠
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
80:41
تَرۡهَقُهَا
Will cover them
قَتَرَةٌ
darkness
٤١
Blackness will cover them.
80:42
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡكَفَرَةُ
(are) the disbelievers
ٱلۡفَجَرَةُ
the wicked ones
٤٢
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
81:1
إِذَا
When
ٱلشَّمۡسُ
the sun
كُوِّرَتۡ
is wrapped up
١
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
81:2
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلنُّجُومُ
the stars
ٱنكَدَرَتۡ
fall, losing their luster
٢
And when the stars fall, dispersing,
81:3
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡجِبَالُ
the mountains
سُيِّرَتۡ
are moved away
٣
And when the mountains are removed
81:4
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡعِشَارُ
the full-term she-camels
عُطِّلَتۡ
(are) left untended
٤
And when full-term she-camels1 are neglected
81:5
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡوُحُوشُ
the wild beasts
حُشِرَتۡ
are gathered
٥
And when the wild beasts are gathered
81:6
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡبِحَارُ
the seas
سُجِّرَتۡ
are made to overflow
٦
And when the seas are filled with flame1
81:7
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلنُّفُوسُ
the souls
زُوِّجَتۡ
are paired
٧
And when the souls are paired1
81:8
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ
the female infant buried alive
سُئِلَتۡ
is asked
٨
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
81:9
بِأَىِّ
For what
ذَنۢبٍ
sin
قُتِلَتۡ
she was killed
٩
For what sin she was killed
81:10
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلصُّحُفُ
the pages
نُشِرَتۡ
are laid open
١٠
And when the pages1 are spread [i.e., made public]
81:11
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the sky
كُشِطَتۡ
is stripped away
١١
And when the sky is stripped away
81:12
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡجَحِيمُ
the Hellfire
سُعِّرَتۡ
is set ablaze
١٢
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
81:13
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡجَنَّةُ
Paradise
أُزۡلِفَتۡ
is brought near
١٣
And when Paradise is brought near,
81:14
عَلِمَتۡ
Will know
نَفۡسٌ
a soul
مَّآ
what
أَحۡضَرَتۡ
it has brought
١٤
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].1
81:15
فَلَآ
But nay
أُقۡسِمُ
I swear
بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ
by the retreating planets
١٥
So I swear by the retreating stars -
81:16
ٱلۡجَوَارِ
Those that run
ٱلۡكُنَّسِ
(and) disappear
١٦
Those that run [their courses] and disappear [i.e., set]
81:17
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
And the night
إِذَا
when
عَسۡعَسَ
it departs
١٧
And by the night as it closes in1
81:18
وَٱلصُّبۡحِ
And the dawn
إِذَا
when
تَنَفَّسَ
it breathes
١٨
And by the dawn when it breathes [i.e., stirs]
81:19
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, it
لَقَوۡلُ
(is) surely a word
رَسُولٍ
(of) a Messenger
كَرِيمٍ
noble
١٩
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel]
81:20
ذِى
Possessor of
قُوَّةٍ
power
عِندَ
with
ذِى
(the) Owner of
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
the Throne
مَكِينٍ
secure
٢٠
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
81:21
مُّطَاعٍ
One to be obeyed
ثَمَّ
and
أَمِينٍ
trustworthy
٢١
Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
81:22
وَمَا
And not
صَاحِبُكُم
(is) your companion
بِمَجۡنُونٍ
mad
٢٢
And your companion [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) ] is not [at all] mad.1
81:23
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
رَءَاهُ
he saw him
بِٱلۡأُفُقِ
in the horizon
ٱلۡمُبِينِ
the clear
٢٣
And he has already seen him [i.e., Gabriel] in the clear horizon.1
81:24
وَمَا
And not
هُوَ
he (is)
عَلَى
on
ٱلۡغَيۡبِ
the unseen
بِضَنِينٍ
a withholder
٢٤
And he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.1
81:25
وَمَا
And not
هُوَ
it
بِقَوۡلِ
(is the) word
شَيۡطَـٰنٍ
(of) Shaitaan
رَّجِيمٍ
accursed
٢٥
And it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
81:26
فَأَيۡنَ
So where
تَذۡهَبُونَ
are you going
٢٦
So where are you going?1
81:27
إِنۡ
Not
هُوَ
it
إِلَّا
(is) except
ذِكۡرٌ
a reminder
لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
to the worlds
٢٧
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
81:28
لِمَن
For whoever
شَآءَ
wills
مِنكُمۡ
among you
أَن
to
يَسۡتَقِيمَ
take a straight way
٢٨
For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
81:29
وَمَا
And not
تَشَآءُونَ
you will
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَشَآءَ
wills
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
رَبُّ
Lord
ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds
٢٩
And you do not will except that Allāh wills - Lord of the worlds.
82:1
إِذَا
When
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the sky
ٱنفَطَرَتۡ
(is) cleft asunder
١
When the sky breaks apart
82:2

scatter
٢
And when the stars fall, scattering,
82:3

And when the seas are erupted
82:4
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡقُبُورُ
the graves
بُعۡثِرَتۡ
are overturned
٤
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered [i.e., exposed],
82:5
عَلِمَتۡ
Will know
نَفۡسٌ
a soul
مَّا
what
قَدَّمَتۡ
it has sent forth
وَأَخَّرَتۡ
and left behind
٥
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
82:6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
man
مَا
What
غَرَّكَ
has deceived you
بِرَبِّكَ
concerning your Lord
ٱلۡكَرِيمِ
the Most Noble
٦
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
82:7
ٱلَّذِى
Who
خَلَقَكَ
created you
فَسَوَّٮٰكَ
then fashioned you
فَعَدَلَكَ
then balanced you
٧
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
82:8
فِىٓ
In
أَىِّ
whatever
صُورَةٍ
form
مَّا
what
شَآءَ
He willed
رَكَّبَكَ
He assembled you
٨
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
82:9
كَلَّا
Nay
بَلۡ
But
تُكَذِّبُونَ
you deny
بِٱلدِّينِ
the Judgment
٩
No! But you deny the Recompense.
82:10
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
over you
لَحَـٰفِظِينَ
(are) surely guardians
١٠
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,1
82:11
كِرَامًا
Noble
كَـٰتِبِينَ
recording
١١
Noble and recording;
82:12
يَعۡلَمُونَ
They know
مَا
whatever
تَفۡعَلُونَ
you do
١٢
They know whatever you do.
82:13
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ
the righteous
لَفِى
(will be) surely in
نَعِيمٍ
bliss
١٣
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
82:14
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
ٱلۡفُجَّارَ
the wicked
لَفِى
(will be) surely in
جَحِيمٍ
Hellfire
١٤
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
82:15
يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا
They will burn (in) it
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
(of) the Judgment
١٥
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
82:16
وَمَا
And not
هُمۡ
they
عَنۡهَا
from it
بِغَآئِبِينَ
(will be) absent
١٦
And never therefrom will they be absent.
82:17
وَمَآ
And what
أَدۡرَٮٰكَ
can make you know
مَا
what
يَوۡمُ
(is the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
(of) the Judgment
١٧
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
82:18
ثُمَّ
Then
مَآ
what
أَدۡرَٮٰكَ
can make you know
مَا
what
يَوۡمُ
(is the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
(of) the Judgment
١٨
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
82:19
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
لَا
not
تَمۡلِكُ
will have power
نَفۡسٌ
a soul
لِّنَفۡسٍ
for a soul
شَيۡــًٔا‌ۖ
anything
وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ
and the Command
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
لِّلَّهِ
(will be) with Allah
١٩
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allāh.
83:1
وَيۡلٌ
Woe
لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
to those who give less
١
Woe to those who give less [than due],1
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
إِذَا
when
ٱكۡتَالُواۡ
they take a measure
عَلَى
from
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people
يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
they take in full
٢
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.
83:3
وَإِذَا
But when
كَالُوهُمۡ
they give by measure (to) them
أَو
or
وَّزَنُوهُمۡ
they weigh (for) them
يُخۡسِرُونَ
they give less
٣
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.
83:4
أَلَا
Do not
يَظُنُّ
think
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
those
أَنَّهُم
that they
مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
(will be) resurrected
٤
Do they not think that they will be resurrected
83:5
لِيَوۡمٍ
For a Day
عَظِيمٍ
Great
٥
For a tremendous Day -
83:6
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
يَقُومُ
will stand
ٱلنَّاسُ
mankind
لِرَبِّ
before (the) Lord
ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds
٦
The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
83:7
كَلَّآ

ٱلۡفُجَّارِ
(of) the wicked
لَفِى

Sijjin
٧
No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.
83:8
وَمَآ
And what
أَدۡرَٮٰكَ
can make you know
مَا
what
سِجِّينٌ
(is) Sijjin
٨
And what can make you know what is sijjeen?
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ
A book
مَّرۡقُومٌ
written
٩
It is [their destination1 recorded in] a register inscribed.
83:10
وَيۡلٌ
Woe
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
to the deniers
١٠
Woe, that Day, to the deniers,
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
يُكَذِّبُونَ
deny
بِيَوۡمِ
(the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
(of) the Judgment
١١
Who deny the Day of Recompense.
83:12
وَمَا
And not
يُكَذِّبُ
can deny
بِهِۦٓ
[of] it
إِلَّا
except
كُلُّ
every
مُعۡتَدٍ
transgressor
أَثِيمٍ
sinful
١٢
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.
83:13
إِذَا
When

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."
83:14
كَلَّا‌ۖ

١٤
No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.1
83:15
كَلَّآ
Nay
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
عَن
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ
their Lord
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
surely will be partitioned
١٥
No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.1
83:16
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّهُمۡ
indeed, they
لَصَالُواۡ

١٦
Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.
83:17
ثُمَّ

This
ٱلَّذِى

عَيۡنًا
A spring

ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
those brought near

A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.
83:29
إِنَّ
Indeed

أَهۡلِهِمُ
their people
ٱنقَلَبُواۡ
they would return
فَكِهِينَ
jesting
٣١
And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.
83:32
وَإِذَا
And when
رَأَوۡهُمۡ
they saw them
قَالُوٓاۡ
they said
إِنَّ
Indeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
لَضَآلُّونَ
surely have gone astray
٣٢
And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."
83:33
وَمَآ
But not
أُرۡسِلُواۡ
they had been sent
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
over them
حَـٰفِظِينَ
(as) guardians
٣٣
But they had not been sent as guardians over them.
83:34
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ
So today
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believed
مِنَ
at
ٱلۡكُفَّارِ
the disbelievers
يَضۡحَكُونَ
they will laugh
٣٤
So Today1 those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
83:35
عَلَى
On
ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ
the thrones
يَنظُرُونَ
observing
٣٥
On adorned couches, observing.
83:36
هَلۡ
Have (not)
ثُوِّبَ
been rewarded
ٱلۡكُفَّارُ
the disbelievers
مَا
(for) what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَفۡعَلُونَ
do
٣٦
Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
84:1
إِذَا
When
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the sky
ٱنشَقَّتۡ
is split asunder
١
When the sky has split [open]
84:2
وَأَذِنَتۡ
And has listened
لِرَبِّهَا
to its Lord
وَحُقَّتۡ
and was obligated
٢
And has listened [i.e., responded]1 to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]
84:3
وَإِذَا
And when
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
the earth
مُدَّتۡ
is spread
٣
And when the earth has been extended1
84:4
وَأَلۡقَتۡ
And has cast out
مَا
what
فِيهَا
(is) in it
وَتَخَلَّتۡ
and becomes empty
٤
And has cast out that within it1 and relinquished [it].
84:5
وَأَذِنَتۡ
And has listened
لِرَبِّهَا
to its Lord
وَحُقَّتۡ
and was obligated
٥
And has listened [i.e., responded] to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -
84:6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
mankind
إِنَّكَ
Indeed, you
كَادِحٌ
(are) laboring
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
كَدۡحًا
(with) exertion
فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ
and you (will) meet Him
٦
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion1 and will meet it.2
84:7
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
مَنۡ
(him) who
أُوتِىَ
is given
كِتَـٰبَهُۥ
his record
بِيَمِينِهِۦ
in his right (hand)
٧
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
84:8
فَسَوۡفَ
Then soon
يُحَاسَبُ
his account will be taken
حِسَابًا
an account
يَسِيرًا
easy
٨
He will be judged with an easy account
84:9
وَيَنقَلِبُ
And he will return
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَهۡلِهِۦ
his people
مَسۡرُورًا
happily
٩
And return to his people in happiness.
84:10
وَأَمَّا
But as for
مَنۡ
(him) who
أُوتِىَ
is given
كِتَـٰبَهُۥ
his record
وَرَآءَ
behind
ظَهۡرِهِۦ
his back
١٠
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
84:11
فَسَوۡفَ
Then soon
يَدۡعُواۡ
he will call
ثُبُورًا
(for) destruction
١١
He will cry out for destruction
84:12
وَيَصۡلَىٰ
And he will burn
سَعِيرًا
(in) a Blaze
١٢
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
84:13
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
كَانَ
had been
فِىٓ
among
أَهۡلِهِۦ
his people
مَسۡرُورًا
happy
١٣
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
84:14
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
ظَنَّ
(had) thought
أَن
that
لَّن
never
يَحُورَ
he would return
١٤
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allāh].
84:15
بَلَىٰٓ
Yes
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّهُۥ
his Lord
كَانَ
was
بِهِۦ
of him
بَصِيرًا
All-Seer
١٥
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever, of him, Seeing.
84:16
فَلَآ
But nay
أُقۡسِمُ
I swear
بِٱلشَّفَقِ
by the twilight glow
١٦
So I swear by the twilight glow
84:17
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
And the night
وَمَا
and what
وَسَقَ
it envelops
١٧
And [by] the night and what it envelops
84:18
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ
And the moon
إِذَا
when
ٱتَّسَقَ
it becomes full
١٨
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
84:19
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ
You will surely embark
طَبَقًا
(to) stage
عَن
from
طَبَقٍ
stage
١٩
[That] you will surely embark upon [i.e., experience] state after state.1
84:20
فَمَا
So what
لَهُمۡ
(is) for them
لَا
not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
they believe
٢٠
So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,
84:21
وَإِذَا
And when
قُرِئَ
is recited
عَلَيۡهِمُ
to them
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ
the Quran
لَا
not
يَسۡجُدُونَ
they prostrate
۩
And when the Qur’ān is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allāh]?
84:22
بَلِ
Nay
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
يُكَذِّبُونَ
deny
٢٢
But those who have disbelieved deny,
84:23
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
أَعۡلَمُ
(is) most knowing
بِمَا
of what
يُوعُونَ
they keep within themselves
٢٣
And Allāh is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
84:24
فَبَشِّرۡهُم
so give them tidings
بِعَذَابٍ
of a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
painful
٢٤
So give them tidings of a painful punishment,
84:25
إِلَّا
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
righteous deeds
لَهُمۡ
For them
أَجۡرٌ
(is) a reward
غَيۡرُ
never
مَمۡنُونِۭ
ending
٢٥
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
By the sky
ذَاتِ
containing
ٱلۡبُرُوجِ
the constellations
١
By the sky containing great stars
85:2
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
And the Day
ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ
Promised
٢
And [by] the promised Day
85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ
And (the) witness
وَمَشۡهُودٍ
and what is witnessed
٣
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
85:4
قُتِلَ
Destroyed were
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(the) companions
ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ
(of) the pit
٤
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trench1
85:5
ٱلنَّارِ
(Of) the fire
ذَاتِ
full
ٱلۡوَقُودِ
(of) the fuel
٥
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,
85:6
إِذۡ
When
هُمۡ
they
عَلَيۡهَا
by it
قُعُودٌ
(were) sitting
٦
When they were sitting near it.
85:7
وَهُمۡ
And they
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
يَفۡعَلُونَ
they were doing
بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
to the believers
شُهُودٌ
witnesses
٧
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 1
85:8
وَمَا
And not
نَقَمُواۡ
they resented
مِنۡهُمۡ
[of] them
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يُؤۡمِنُواۡ
they believed
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
the Praiseworthy
٨
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
85:9
ٱلَّذِى
The One Who
لَهُۥ
for Him
مُلۡكُ
(is) the dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۚ
and the earth
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
عَلَىٰ
on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
شَهِيدٌ
(is) a Witness
٩
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, over all things, is Witness.1
85:10
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
فَتَنُواۡ
persecuted
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
the believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ
and the believing women
ثُمَّ
then
لَمۡ
not
يَتُوبُواۡ
they repented
فَلَهُمۡ
then for them
عَذَابُ
(is the) punishment
جَهَنَّمَ
(of) Hell
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
عَذَابُ
(is the) punishment
ٱلۡحَرِيقِ
(of) the Burning Fire
١٠
Indeed, those who have tortured1 the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
85:11
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
the righteous deeds
لَهُمۡ
for them
جَنَّـٰتٌ
(will be) Gardens
تَجۡرِى
flow
مِن
from
تَحۡتِهَا
underneath it
ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ‌ۚ
the rivers
ذٰلِكَ
That
ٱلۡفَوۡزُ
(is) the success
ٱلۡكَبِيرُ
the great
١١
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.
85:12
إِنَّ
Indeed
بَطۡشَ
(the) Grip
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
لَشَدِيدٌ
(is) surely strong
١٢
Indeed, the assault [i.e., vengeance] of your Lord is severe.
85:13
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed He
هُوَ
He
يُبۡدِئُ
originates
وَيُعِيدُ
and repeats
١٣
Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.
85:14
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلۡوَدُودُ
the Most Loving
١٤
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,
85:15
ذُو
Owner (of)
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
the Throne
ٱلۡمَجِيدُ
the Glorious
١٥
Honorable Owner of the Throne,
85:16
فَعَّالٌ
Doer
لِّمَا
of what
يُرِيدُ
He intends
١٦
Effecter of what He intends.
85:17
هَلۡ
Has
أَتَـٰكَ
come to you
حَدِيثُ
(the) story
ٱلۡجُنُودِ
(of) the hosts
١٧
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
85:18
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
وَثَمُودَ
and Thamud
١٨
[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamūd?
85:19
بَلِ
Nay
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
فِى
(are) in
تَكۡذِيبٍ
denial
١٩
But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,
85:20
وَٱللَّهُ
But Allah
مِن
from
وَرَآئِهِم
behind them
مُّحِيطُۢ
encompasses
٢٠
While Allāh encompasses them from behind.1
85:21
بَلۡ
Nay
هُوَ
It
قُرۡءَانٌ
(is) a Quran
مَّجِيدٌ
Glorious
٢١
But this is an honored Qur’ān
85:22
فِى
In
لَوۡحٍ
a Tablet
مَّحۡفُوظِۭ
Guarded

[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
86:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
By the sky
وَٱلطَّارِقِ
and the night comer
١
By the sky and the night comer
86:2
وَمَآ
And what
أَدۡرَٮٰكَ
can make you know
مَا
what
ٱلطَّارِقُ
the night comer (is)
٢
And what can make you know what is the night comer?
86:3
ٱلنَّجۡمُ
(It is) the star
ٱلثَّاقِبُ
the piercing
٣
It is the piercing star1
86:4
إِن
Not
كُلُّ
(is) every
نَفۡسٍ
soul
لَّمَّا
but
عَلَيۡهَا
over it
حَافِظٌ
(is) a protector
٤
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
86:5
فَلۡيَنظُرِ
So let see
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
man
مِمَّ
from what
خُلِقَ
he is created
٥
So let man observe from what he was created.
86:6
خُلِقَ
He is created
مِن
from
مَّآءٍ
a water
دَافِقٍ
ejected
٦
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
86:7
يَخۡرُجُ
Coming forth
مِنۢ
from
بَيۡنِ
between
ٱلصُّلۡبِ
the backbone
وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
and the ribs
٧
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
86:8
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
عَلَىٰ
to
رَجۡعِهِۦ
return him
لَقَادِرٌ
(is) Able
٨
Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.
86:9
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
تُبۡلَى
will be tested
ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
the secrets
٩
The Day when secrets will be put on trial,1
86:10
فَمَا
Then not
لَهُۥ
(is) for him
مِن
any
قُوَّةٍ
power
وَلَا
and not
نَاصِرٍ
any helper
١٠
Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.
86:11
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
By the sky
ذَاتِ
which
ٱلرَّجۡعِ
returns
١١
By the sky which sends back1
86:12
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
And the earth
ذَاتِ
which
ٱلصَّدۡعِ
cracks open
١٢
And [by] the earth which splits,1
86:13
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, it
لَقَوۡلٌ
(is) surely a Word
فَصۡلٌ
decisive
١٣
Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,
86:14
وَمَا
And not
هُوَ
it
بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
(is) for amusement
١٤
And it is not amusement.
86:15
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
يَكِيدُونَ
are plotting
كَيۡدًا
a plot
١٥
Indeed, they are planning a plan,
86:16
وَأَكِيدُ
But I am planning
كَيۡدًا
a plan
١٦
But I am planning a plan.
86:17
فَمَهِّلِ
So give respite
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
(to) the disbelievers
أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ
Give respite to them
رُوَيۡدَۢا
little
١٧
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.1
87:1
سَبِّحِ
Glorify
ٱسۡمَ
(the) name
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
ٱلۡأَعۡلَى
the Most High
١
Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
87:2
ٱلَّذِى
The One Who
خَلَقَ
created
فَسَوَّىٰ
then proportioned
٢
Who created and proportioned
87:3
وَٱلَّذِى
And the One Who
قَدَّرَ
measured
فَهَدَىٰ
then guided
٣
And who destined and [then] guided
87:4
وَٱلَّذِىٓ
And the One Who
أَخۡرَجَ
brings forth
ٱلۡمَرۡعَىٰ
the pasture
٤
And who brings out the pasture
87:5
فَجَعَلَهُۥ
And then makes it
غُثَآءً
stubble
أَحۡوَىٰ
dark
٥
And [then] makes it black stubble.
87:6
سَنُقۡرِئُكَ
We will make you recite
فَلَا
so not
تَنسَىٰٓ
you will forget
٦
We will make you recite, [O Muḥammad], and you will not forget,
87:7
إِلَّا
Except
مَا
what
شَآءَ
wills
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
ٱلۡجَهۡرَ
the manifest
وَمَا
and what
يَخۡفَىٰ
is hidden
٧
Except what Allāh should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
87:8
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ
And We will ease you
لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
to the ease
٨
And We will ease you toward ease.1
87:9
فَذَكِّرۡ
So remind
إِن
if
نَّفَعَتِ
benefits
ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
the reminder
٩
So remind, if the reminder should benefit;1
87:10
سَيَذَّكَّرُ
He will pay heed
مَن
(one) who
يَخۡشَىٰ
fears (Allah)
١٠
He who fears [Allāh] will be reminded.
87:11
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا
And will avoid it
ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
the wretched one
١١
But the wretched one will avoid it
87:12
ٱلَّذِى
The one who
يَصۡلَى
will burn
ٱلنَّارَ
(in) the Fire
ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
[the] great
١٢
[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
87:13
ثُمَّ
Then
لَا
not
يَمُوتُ
he will die
فِيهَا
therein
وَلَا

يَحۡيَىٰ
will live
١٣
Neither dying therein nor living.
87:14
قَدۡ
Certainly
أَفۡلَحَ
has succeeded
مَن
(one) who
تَزَكَّىٰ
purifies (himself)
١٤
He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
87:15
وَذَكَرَ
And remembers
ٱسۡمَ

١٧
While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ
And cushions
مَصۡفُوفَةٌ
lined up
١٥
And cushions lined up
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ
And carpets
مَبۡثُوثَةٌ
spread out
١٦
And carpets spread around.
88:17
أَفَلَا
Then do not
يَنظُرُونَ
they look
إِلَى
towards
ٱلۡإِبِلِ
the camels
كَيۡفَ
how
خُلِقَتۡ
they are created
١٧
Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?
88:18
وَإِلَى
And towards
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
كَيۡفَ
how
رُفِعَتۡ
it is raised
١٨
And at the sky - how it is raised?
88:19
وَإِلَى
And towards
ٱلۡجِبَالِ
the mountains
كَيۡفَ
how
نُصِبَتۡ
they are fixed
١٩
And at the mountains - how they are erected?
88:20
وَإِلَى
And towards
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
كَيۡفَ
how
سُطِحَتۡ
it is spread out
٢٠
And at the earth - how it is spread out?
88:21
فَذَكِّرۡ
So remind
إِنَّمَآ
only
أَنتَ
you
مُذَكِّرٌ
(are) a reminder
٢١
So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.
88:22
لَّسۡتَ
You are not
عَلَيۡهِم
over them
بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
a controller
٢٢
You are not over them a controller.
88:23
إِلَّا
But
مَن
whoever
تَوَلَّىٰ
turns away
وَكَفَرَ
and disbelieves
٢٣
However, he who turns away and disbelieves
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ
Then will punish him
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
(with) the punishment
ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ
greatest
٢٤
Then Allāh will punish him with the greatest punishment.
88:25
إِنَّ
Indeed
إِلَيۡنَآ
to Us
إِيَابَهُمۡ
(will be) their return
٢٥
Indeed, to Us is their return.
88:26
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّ
indeed
عَلَيۡنَا
upon Us
حِسَابَهُم
(is) their account
٢٦
Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
89:1
وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
By the dawn
١
By the dawn
89:2
وَلَيَالٍ
And the nights
عَشۡرٍ
ten
٢
And [by] ten nights1
89:3
وَٱلشَّفۡعِ
And the even
وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ
and the odd
٣
And [by] the even [number] and the odd
89:4
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
And the night
إِذَا
when
يَسۡرِ
it passes
٤
And [by] the night when it passes,
89:5
هَلۡ
Is
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
قَسَمٌ
(not) an oath
لِّذِى
for those
حِجۡرٍ
who understand
٥
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?1
89:6
أَلَمۡ
Did not
تَرَ
you see
كَيۡفَ
how
فَعَلَ
dealt
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
بِعَادٍ
with Aad
٦
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ʿAad -
89:7
إِرَمَ
Iram
ذَاتِ
possessors (of)
ٱلۡعِمَادِ
lofty pillars
٧
[With] Iram1 - who had lofty pillars,2
89:8
ٱلَّتِى
Which
لَمۡ
not
يُخۡلَقۡ
had been created
مِثۡلُهَا
like them
فِى
in
ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
the cities
٨
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
89:9
وَثَمُودَ
And Thamud
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
جَابُواۡ
carved out
ٱلصَّخۡرَ
the rocks
بِٱلۡوَادِ
in the valley
٩
And [with] Thamūd, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
89:10
وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ
And Firaun
ذِى
owner of
ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ
stakes
١٠
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes?1
89:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
Who
طَغَوۡاۡ
transgressed
فِى
in
ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
the lands
١١
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
89:12
فَأَكۡثَرُواۡ
And (made) much
فِيهَا
therein
ٱلۡفَسَادَ
corruption
١٢
And increased therein the corruption.
89:13
فَصَبَّ
So poured
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
on them
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
سَوۡطَ
scourge
عَذَابٍ
(of) punishment
١٣
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
89:14
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ
(is) surely Ever Watchful
١٤
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
89:15
فَأَمَّا
And as for
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
man
إِذَا
when
مَا
does
ٱبۡتَلَـٰهُ
try him
رَبُّهُۥ
his Lord
فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ
and is generous to him
وَنَعَّمَهُۥ
and favors him
فَيَقُولُ
he says
رَبِّىٓ
My Lord
أَكۡرَمَنِ
has honored me
١٥
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."1
89:16
وَأَمَّآ
But
إِذَا
when
مَا
does
ٱبۡتَلَـٰهُ
He try him
فَقَدَرَ
and restricts
عَلَيۡهِ
for him
رِزۡقَهُۥ
his provision
فَيَقُولُ
then he says
رَبِّىٓ
My Lord
أَهَـٰنَنِ
(has) humiliated me
١٦
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
89:17
كَلَّا‌ۖ
Nay
بَل
But
لَّا
not
تُكۡرِمُونَ
you honor
ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
the orphan
١٧
No!1 But you do not honor the orphan
89:18
وَلَا
And not
تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ
you feel the urge
عَلَىٰ
to
طَعَامِ
feed
ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
the poor
١٨
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
89:19
وَتَأۡكُلُونَ
And you consume
ٱلتُّرَاثَ
the inheritance
أَكۡلاً
devouring
لَّمًّا
altogether
١٩
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,1
89:20
وَتُحِبُّونَ
And you love
ٱلۡمَالَ
wealth
حُبًّا
(with) love
جَمًّا
immense
٢٠
And you love wealth with immense love.
89:21
كَلَّآ
Nay
إِذَا
When
دُكَّتِ
is leveled
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
the earth
دَكًّا
pounded
دَكًّا
(and) crushed
٢١
No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed
89:22
وَجَآءَ
And comes
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
وَٱلۡمَلَكُ
and the Angels
صَفًّا
rank
صَفًّا
(upon) rank
٢٢
And your Lord has come1 and the angels, rank upon rank,
89:23
وَجِاۡىٓءَ
And is brought
يَوۡمَئِذِۭ
that Day
بِجَهَنَّمَ‌ۚ
Hell
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
That Day
يَتَذَكَّرُ
will remember
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ
man
وَأَنَّىٰ
but how
لَهُ
(will be) for him
ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
the remembrance
٢٣
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but how [i.e., what good] to him will be the remembrance?
89:24
يَقُولُ
He will say
يَـٰلَيۡتَنِى
O I wish
قَدَّمۡتُ
I had sent forth
لِحَيَاتِى
for my life
٢٤
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."1
89:25
فَيَوۡمَئِذٍ
So that Day
لَّا
not
يُعَذِّبُ
will punish
عَذَابَهُۥٓ
(as) His punishment
أَحَدٌ
anyone
٢٥
So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
89:26
وَلَا
And not
يُوثِقُ
will bind
وَثَاقَهُۥٓ
(as) His binding
أَحَدٌ
anyone
٢٦
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
89:27
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا
O
ٱلنَّفۡسُ
soul
ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ
who is satisfied
٢٧
[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
89:28
ٱرۡجِعِىٓ
Return
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّكِ
your Lord
رَاضِيَةً
well pleased
مَّرۡضِيَّةً
and pleasing
٢٨
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
89:29
فَٱدۡخُلِى
So enter
فِى
among
عِبَـٰدِى
My slaves
٢٩
And enter among My [righteous] servants
89:30
وَٱدۡخُلِى
And enter
جَنَّتِى
My Paradise
٣٠
And enter My Paradise."
90:1
لَآ
Nay
أُقۡسِمُ
I swear
بِهَـٰذَا
by this
ٱلۡبَلَدِ
city
١
I swear by this city [i.e., Makkah]
90:2
وَأَنتَ
And you
حِلُّۢ
(are) free (to dwell)
بِهَـٰذَا
in this
ٱلۡبَلَدِ
city
٢
And you, [O Muḥammad], are free of restriction in this city
90:3
وَوَالِدٍ
And the begetter
وَمَا
and what
وَلَدَ
he begot
٣
And [by] the father1 and that which was born [of him],
90:4
لَقَدۡ
Certainly
خَلَقۡنَا
We have created
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
man
فِى
(to be) in
كَبَدٍ
hardship
٤
We have certainly created man into hardship.
90:5
أَيَحۡسَبُ
Does he think
أَن
that
لَّن
not
يَقۡدِرَ
has power
عَلَيۡهِ
over him
أَحَدٌ
anyone
٥
Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?
90:6
يَقُولُ
He will say
أَهۡلَكۡتُ
I have squandered
مَالاً
wealth
لُّبَدًا
abundant
٦
He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."
90:7
أَيَحۡسَبُ
Does he think
أَن
that
لَّمۡ
not
يَرَهُۥٓ
sees him
أَحَدٌ
anyone
٧
Does he think that no one has seen him?
90:8
أَلَمۡ
Have not
نَجۡعَل
We made
لَّهُۥ
for him
عَيۡنَيۡنِ
two eyes
٨
Have We not made for him two eyes?
90:9
وَلِسَانًا
And a tongue
وَشَفَتَيۡنِ
and two lips
٩
And a tongue and two lips?
90:10
وَهَدَيۡنَـٰهُ
And shown him
ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ
the two ways
١٠
And have shown him the two ways?1
90:11
فَلَا
But not
ٱقۡتَحَمَ
he has attempted
ٱلۡعَقَبَةَ
the steep path
١١
But he has not broken through the difficult pass.1
90:12
وَمَآ
And what
أَدۡرَٮٰكَ
can make you know
مَا
what
ٱلۡعَقَبَةُ
the steep path (is)
١٢
And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
90:13
فَكُّ
(It is) freeing
رَقَبَةٍ
a neck
١٣
It is the freeing of a slave
90:14
أَوۡ
Or
إِطۡعَـٰمٌ
feeding
فِى
in
يَوۡمٍ
a day
ذِى
of
مَسۡغَبَةٍ
severe hunger
١٤
Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
90:15
يَتِيمًا
An orphan
ذَا
of
مَقۡرَبَةٍ
near relationship
١٥
An orphan of near relationship
90:16
أَوۡ
Or
مِسۡكِينًا
a needy person
ذَا
in
مَتۡرَبَةٍ
misery
١٦
Or a needy person in misery
90:17
ثُمَّ
Then
كَانَ
he is
مِنَ
of
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَتَوَاصَوۡاۡ
and enjoin (each other)
بِٱلصَّبۡرِ
to patience
وَتَوَاصَوۡاۡ
and enjoin (each other)
بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِ
to compassion
١٧
And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
90:18
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ
(of) the right (hand)
١٨
Those are the companions of the right.1
90:19
وَٱلَّذِينَ
But those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا
in Our Verses
هُمۡ
they
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلۡمَشۡــَٔمَةِ
(of) the left (hand)
١٩
But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.1
90:20
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
Over them
نَارٌ
(will be the) Fire
مُّؤۡصَدَةُۢ
closed in
٢٠
Over them will be fire closed in.1
91:1
وَٱلشَّمۡسِ
By the sun
وَضُحَـٰهَا
and its brightness
١
By the sun and its brightness
91:2
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ
And the moon
إِذَا
when
تَلَـٰهَا
it follows it
٢
And [by] the moon when it follows it
91:3
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
And the day
إِذَا
when
جَلَّـٰهَا
it displays it
٣
And [by] the day when it displays it1
91:4
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
And the night
إِذَا
when
يَغۡشَـٰهَا
it covers it
٤
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] it
91:5
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
And the heaven
وَمَا
and (He) Who
بَنَـٰهَا
constructed it
٥
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
91:6
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
And the earth
وَمَا
and by (He) Who
طَحَـٰهَا
spread it
٦
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
91:7
وَنَفۡسٍ
And (the) soul
وَمَا
and (He) Who
سَوَّٮٰهَا
proportioned it
٧
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it1
91:8
فَأَلۡهَمَهَا
And He inspired it
فُجُورَهَا
(to distinguish) its wickedness
وَتَقۡوَٮٰهَا
and its righteousness
٨
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
91:9
قَدۡ
Indeed
أَفۡلَحَ
he succeeds
مَن
who
زَكَّـٰهَا
purifies it
٩
He has succeeded who purifies it,
91:10
وَقَدۡ
And indeed
خَابَ
he fails
مَن
who
دَسَّـٰهَا
buries it
١٠
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
91:11
كَذَّبَتۡ
Denied
ثَمُودُ
Thamud
بِطَغۡوَٮٰهَآ
by their transgression
١١
Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
91:12
إِذِ
When
ٱنۢبَعَثَ
(was) sent forth
أَشۡقَـٰهَا
(the) most wicked of them
١٢
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.1
91:13
فَقَالَ
But said
لَهُمۡ
to them
رَسُولُ
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
نَاقَةَ
(It is the) she-camel
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَسُقۡيَـٰهَا
and her drink
١٣
And the messenger of Allāh [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allāh or [prevent her from] her drink."
91:14
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
But they denied him
فَعَقَرُوهَا
and they hamstrung her
فَدَمۡدَمَ
So destroyed
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
them
رَبُّهُم
their Lord
بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ
for their sin
فَسَوَّٮٰهَا
and leveled them
١٤
But they denied him and hamstrung1 her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
91:15
وَلَا
And not
يَخَافُ
He fears
عُقۡبَـٰهَا
its consequences
١٥
And He does not fear the consequence thereof.1
92:1
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
By the night
إِذَا
when
يَغۡشَىٰ
it covers
١
By the night when it covers1
92:2
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
And the day
إِذَا
when
تَجَلَّىٰ
it shines in brightness
٢
And [by] the day when it appears
92:3
وَمَا
And He Who
خَلَقَ
created
ٱلذَّكَرَ
the male
وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ
and the female
٣
And [by] He who created the male and female,
92:4
إِنَّ
Indeed
سَعۡيَكُمۡ
your efforts
لَشَتَّىٰ
(are) surely diverse
٤
Indeed, your efforts are diverse.
92:5
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
مَنۡ
(him) who
أَعۡطَىٰ
gives
وَٱتَّقَىٰ
and fears
٥
As for he who gives and fears Allāh
92:6
وَصَدَّقَ
And believes
بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
in the best
٦
And believes in the best [reward],
92:7
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ
Then We will ease him
لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
towards [the] ease
٧
We will ease him toward ease.
92:8
وَأَمَّا
But as for
مَنۢ
(him) who
بَخِلَ
withholds
وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
and considers himself free from need
٨
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need
92:9
وَكَذَّبَ
And denies
بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
the best
٩
And denies the best [reward],
92:10
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ
Then We will ease him
لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ
towards [the] difficulty
١٠
We will ease him toward difficulty.
92:11
وَمَا
And not
يُغۡنِى
will avail
عَنۡهُ
him
مَالُهُۥٓ
his wealth
إِذَا
when
تَرَدَّىٰٓ
he falls
١١
And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?1
92:12
إِنَّ
Indeed
عَلَيۡنَا
upon Us
لَلۡهُدَىٰ
(is) the guidance
١٢
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.
92:13
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
لَنَا
for Us
لَلۡأَخِرَةَ
(is) the Hereafter
وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ
and the first (life)
١٣
And indeed, to us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
92:14
فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ
So I warn you
نَارًا
(of) a Fire
تَلَظَّىٰ
blazing
١٤
So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.
92:15
لَا
Not
يَصۡلَـٰهَآ
will burn (in) it
إِلَّا
except
ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
the most wretched
١٥
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one
92:16
ٱلَّذِى
The one who
كَذَّبَ
denied
وَتَوَلَّىٰ
and turned away
١٦
Who had denied and turned away.
92:17
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا
But will be removed from it
ٱلۡأَتۡقَى
the righteous
١٧
But the righteous one will avoid it
92:18
ٱلَّذِى
The one who
يُؤۡتِى
gives
مَالَهُۥ
his wealth
يَتَزَكَّىٰ
(to) purify himself
١٨
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself
92:19
وَمَا
And not
لِأَحَدٍ
for anyone
عِندَهُۥ
with him
مِن
any
نِّعۡمَةٍ
favor
تُجۡزَىٰٓ
to be recompensed
١٩
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded1
92:20
إِلَّا
Except
ٱبۡتِغَآءَ
seeking
وَجۡهِ
(the) Countenance
رَبِّهِ
(of) his Lord
ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
the Most High
٢٠
But only seeking the face [i.e., acceptance] of his Lord, Most High.
92:21
وَلَسَوۡفَ
And soon, surely
يَرۡضَىٰ
he will be pleased
٢١
And he is going to be satisfied.
93:1
وَٱلضُّحَىٰ
By the morning brightness
١
By the morning brightness
93:2
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
And the night
إِذَا
when
سَجَىٰ
it covers with darkness
٢
And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,1
93:3
مَا
Not
وَدَّعَكَ
has forsaken you
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
وَمَا
and not
قَلَىٰ
He is displeased
٣
Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muḥammad], nor has He detested [you].
93:4
وَلَلۡأَخِرَةُ
And surely the Hereafter
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
لَّكَ
for you
مِنَ
than
ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
the first
٤
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
93:5
وَلَسَوۡفَ
And soon
يُعۡطِيكَ
will give you
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ
then you will be satisfied
٥
And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
93:6
أَلَمۡ
Did not
يَجِدۡكَ
He find you
يَتِيمًا
an orphan
فَـَٔـاوَىٰ
and give shelter
٦
Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
93:7
وَوَجَدَكَ
And He found you
ضَآلاًّ
lost
فَهَدَىٰ
so He guided
٧
And He found you lost and guided [you],
93:8
وَوَجَدَكَ
And He found you
عَآئِلاً
in need
فَأَغۡنَىٰ
so He made self-sufficient
٨
And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
93:9
فَأَمَّا
So as for
ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
the orphan
فَلَا
then (do) not
تَقۡهَرۡ
oppress
٩
So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
93:10
وَأَمَّا
And as for
ٱلسَّآئِلَ
one who asks
فَلَا
then (do) not
تَنۡهَرۡ
repel
١٠
And as for the petitioner,1 do not repel [him].

١
Did We not expand for you, [O Muḥammad], your breast?1
94:2
وَوَضَعۡنَا
And We removed
عَنكَ
from you

And We removed from you your burden1
94:3
ٱلَّذِىٓ
Which
أَنقَضَ

٣
Which had weighed upon your back
94:4
وَرَفَعۡنَا
And We raised high
لَكَ
for you
ذِكۡرَكَ
your reputation
٤
And raised high for you your repute.
94:5
فَإِنَّ
So indeed
مَعَ

٧
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
94:8
وَإِلَىٰ
And to
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
فَٱرۡغَب
turn your attention
٨
And to your Lord direct [your] longing.

ٱلۡأَمِينِ
[the] secure
٣
And [by] this secure city [i.e., Makkah],
95:4
لَقَدۡ
Indeed
خَلَقۡنَا
We created
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
man
فِىٓ
in
أَحۡسَنِ

٤
We have certainly created man in the best of stature;1
95:5
ثُمَّ
Then
رَدَدۡنَـٰهُ
We returned him
أَسۡفَلَ
(to the) lowest
سَـٰفِلِينَ
(of the) low
٥
Then We return him to the lowest of the low,1
95:6
إِلَّا
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
95:7
فَمَا
Then what
يُكَذِّبُكَ
