Alif, Lām, Meem, Ṣād.1
7:2
كِتَـٰ بٌ
(This is) a Book
أُنز ِلَ
revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
فَلَا
so (let) not
يَكُن
be
in
صَدۡ رِكَ
your breast
حَرَجٌ
any uneasiness
from it
لِتُنذ ِرَ
that you warn
بِهِۦ
with it
وَذِكۡرَىٰ
and a reminder
لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِي نَ
٢for the believers
[This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muḥammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers.
7:3
ٱتَّبِعُواۡ
Follow
مَآ
what
أُنز ِلَ
has been revealed
إِلَيۡكُم
to you
from
your Lord
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَتَّبِعُواۡ
follow
مِن
from
beside Him
أَوۡلِيَا ٓءَۗ
any allies
قَلِيلاً
Little
(is) what
تَذَكَّرُو نَ
٣you remember
Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember.
7:4
وَكَم
And how many
of
a city
أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰ هَا
We destroyed it
فَجَا ٓءَهَا
and came to it
بَأۡسُنَا
Our punishment
بَيَـٰ تًا
(at) night
أَوۡ
or
هُمۡ
(while) they
قَا ٓئِلُو نَ
٤were sleeping at noon
And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
7:5
فَمَا
Then not
كَانَ
was
دَعۡوَٮٰ هُمۡ
their plea
إِذۡ
when
جَا ٓءَهُم
came to them
Our punishment
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
they said
إِنّ َا
Indeed, we
كُنّ َا
were
ظَـٰ لِمِي نَ
٥wrongdoers
And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"
7:6
فَلَنَسۡــَٔلَنّ َ
Then surely We will question
those (to) whom
أُرۡسِلَ
were sent
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
to them (Messengers)
وَلَنَسۡــَٔلَنّ َ
and surely We will question
the Messengers
Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers.
7:7
فَلَنَقُصَّنّ َ
Then surely We will narrate
عَلَيۡهِم
to them
with knowledge
and not
كُنّ َا
were We
غَا ٓئِبِي نَ
٧absent
Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent.
7:8
وَٱ لۡوَزۡنُ
And the weighing
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that day
(will be) the truth
فَمَن
So whose
(will be) heavy
مَوٰ زِينُهُۥ
his scales
فَأُوۡ لَـٰٓ ئِكَ
then those
هُمُ
[they]
(will be) the successful ones
And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful.
7:9
وَمَنۡ
And (for) those
خَفَّتۡ
(will be) light
مَوٰ زِينُهُۥ
his scales
فَأُوۡ لَـٰٓ ئِكَ
so those
(will be) the ones who
خَسِرُوٓ اۡ
lost
أَنف ُسَهُم
themselves
because
كَانُواۡ
they were
بِـَٔـايَـٰ تِنَا
to Our Verses
يَظۡلِمُو نَ
٩(doing) injustice
And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses.
7:10
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
مَكَّنّ َـٰ كُمۡ
We established you

قَلِيلاً
Little
(is) what
تَشۡكُرُو نَ
١٠you (are) grateful
And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.
7:11
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
خَلَقۡ نَـٰ كُمۡ
We created you
ثُمّ َ
then
صَوَّرۡنَـٰ كُمۡ
We fashioned you
ثُمّ َ
Then
قُلۡنَا
We said
لِلۡمَلَـٰٓ ئِكَةِ
to the Angels
Prostrate
لِأَدَمَ
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓ اۡ
So they prostrated
إِلَّآ
except
إِبۡ لِيسَ
Iblis
لَمۡ
Not
يَكُن
he was
of
those who prostrated
And We have certainly created you, [O mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees.1 He was not of those who prostrated.
7:12
قَالَ
(Allah) said
مَا
What
مَنَعَكَ
prevented you
أَلَّا
that not
تَسۡجُدَ
you prostrate
إِذۡ
when
أَمَرۡتُكَۖ
I commanded you

(Shaitaan) said

I am

خَلَقۡ تَنِى
You created me
مِن
from
fire
and You created him
مِن
from
clay
[Allāh] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay [i.e., earth]."
7:13
قَالَ
(Allah) said
فَٱ هۡبِطۡ
Then go down
مِنۡهَا
from it
فَمَا
for not
يَكُونُ
it is

in it
فَٱ خۡرُجۡ
So get out
إِنّ َكَ
indeed, you
مِنَ
(are) of
the disgraced ones
[Allāh] said, "Descend from it [i.e., Paradise], for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased."
7:14
قَالَ
(Shaitaan) said
أَنظ ِرۡنِىٓ
Give me respite
إِلَىٰ
till
يَوۡمِ
(the) Day
يُبۡ عَثُو نَ
١٤they are raised up
[Satan] said, "Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
7:15
قَالَ
(Allah) said
إِنّ َكَ
Indeed, you
مِنَ
(are) of
the ones given respite
[Allāh] said, "Indeed, you are of those reprieved."
7:16
قَالَ
(Shaitaan) said
فَبِمَآ
Because
أَغۡوَيۡتَنِى
You have sent me astray
لَأَقۡ عُدَنّ َ
surely I will sit
لَهُمۡ
for them
صِرٰ طَكَ
(on) Your path
the straight
[Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them [i.e., mankind] on Your straight path.
7:17
ثُمّ َ
Then
لَأَتِيَنّ َهُم
surely, I will come to them
from
before
أَيۡدِيهِمۡ
them
وَمِنۡ
and from
خَلۡفِهِمۡ
behind them
وَعَنۡ
and from
أَيۡمَـٰ نِهِمۡ
their right
وَعَن
and from
their left
وَلَا
and not
تَجِدُ
You (will) find
أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ
most of them
شَـٰ كِرِي نَ
١٧grateful
Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You]."
7:18
قَالَ
(Allah) said
Get out
مِنۡهَا
of it
مَذۡءُومًا
disgraced
and expelled
Certainly, whoever
follows you
مِنۡهُمۡ
among them
لَأَمۡلَأَنّ َ
surely, I will fill
جَهَنّ َمَ
Hell
مِنك ُمۡ
with you
أَجۡ مَعِي نَ
١٨all
[Allāh] said, "Depart from it [i.e., Paradise], reproached and expelled. Whoever follows you among them - I will surely fill Hell with you, all together."
7:19
وَيَـٰٓـ ـَٔـادَمُ
And O Adam
Dwell
أَنت َ
you
وَزَوۡجُكَ
and your wife
(in) the Garden
فَكُلَا
and you both eat
مِنۡ
from
حَيۡثُ
wherever
شِئۡتُمَا
you both wish
وَلَا
but (do) not
تَقۡ رَبَا
approach [both of you]
هَـٰ ذِهِ
this
[the] tree
فَتَكُونَا
lest you both be
مِنَ
among
the wrongdoers
And "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers."
7:20
فَوَسۡوَسَ
Then whispered
لَهُمَا
to both of them
the Shaitaan
لِيُبۡ دِىَ
to make apparent
لَهُمَا
to both of them
مَا
what
وُۥ رِىَ
was concealed
عَنۡهُمَا
from both of them
مِن
of
their shame
وَقَالَ
And he said
مَا
(Did) not
نَهَـٰ كُمَا
forbid you both
رَبُّكُمَا
your Lord
عَنۡ
from
هَـٰ ذِهِ
this
[the] tree
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
you two become
مَلَكَيۡنِ
Angels
أَوۡ
or
تَكُونَا
you two become
مِنَ
of
the immortals
But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal."
7:21
وَقَاسَمَهُمَآ
And he swore (to) both of them
إِنّ ِى
Indeed, I am
لَكُمَا
to both of you
لَمِنَ
among
the sincere advisors
And he swore [by Allāh] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors."
7:22
فَدَلَّـٰ هُمَا
So he made both of them fall
بِغُرُورٍۚ
by deception
Then when
ذَاقَا
they both tasted
the tree
بَدَتۡ
became apparent
لَهُمَا
to both of them
سَوۡءٰ تُهُمَا
their shame
وَطَفِقَا
and they began
يَخۡصِفَانِ
(to) fasten
عَلَيۡهِمَا
over themselves
مِن
from
(the) leaves
(of) the Garden
وَنَادَٮٰ هُمَا
And called them both
رَبُّهُمَآ
their Lord
أَلَمۡ
Did not
أَنۡهَكُمَا
I forbid you both
عَن
from
this
[the] tree
وَأَقُل
and [I] say
لَّكُمَآ
to both of you
إِنّ َ
that
[the] Shaitaan
لَكُمَا
to both of you
عَدُوٌّ
(is) an enemy
open
So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?"
7:23
قَالَا
Both of them said

لَنَا
[for] us
وَتَرۡحَمۡنَا
and have mercy (on) us
لَنَكُونَنّ َ
surely, we will be
مِنَ
among
the losers
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."
7:24
قَالَ
(Allah) said

[Allāh] said, "Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time."
7:25

He said

you will live
وَفِيهَا
and in it

you will die
وَمِنۡهَا
and from it

٢٥you will be brought forth
He said, "Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth."

O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing1 to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.
