1 Surahs13 Versesركوع 7
2:47
يَـٰ بَنِىٓ
O Children
إِسۡرٰ ٓءِيلَ
(of) Israel
Remember
نِعۡمَتِىَ
My Favor
which
أَنۡعَمۡتُ
I bestowed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
upon you
وَأَنّ ِى
and that I
فَضَّلۡتُكُمۡ
[I] preferred you
عَلَى
over
the worlds
O Children of Israel, remember My favor that I have bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over the worlds [i.e., peoples].
2:48
وَٱ تَّقُواۡ
And fear
يَوۡمًا
a day
(will) not
تَجۡ زِى
avail
نَفۡسٌ
any soul
عَن
for
(another) soul
anything
and not
يُقۡ بَلُ
will be accepted
مِنۡهَا
from it
شَفَـٰ عَةٌ
any intercession
and not
يُؤۡخَذُ
will be taken
مِنۡهَا
from it
عَدۡ لٌ
a compensation
and not
هُمۡ
they
يُنص َرُو نَ
٤٨will be helped
And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul1 at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided.
2:49
وَإِذۡ
And when
نَجَّيۡنَـٰ كُم
We saved you
from
ءَالِ
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
(of) Firaun
يَسُومُونَكُمۡ
(who were) afflicting you (with)
سُو ٓءَ
horrible
torment
يُذَبِّحُونَ
slaughtering
أَبۡ نَا ٓءَكُمۡ
your sons
وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ
and letting live
نِسَا ٓءَكُمۡۚ
your women
وَفِى
And in
ذٰ لِكُم
that
(was) a trial
from
your Lord
عَظِي مٌ
٤٩great
And [recall] when We saved you [i.e., your forefathers] from the people of Pharaoh, who afflicted you with the worst torment, slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.
2:50
وَإِذۡ
And when
فَرَقۡ نَا
We parted
بِكُمُ
for you
the sea
فَأَنج َيۡنَـٰ كُمۡ
then We saved you
وَأَغۡرَقۡ نَآ
and We drowned
ءَالَ
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
(of) Firaun
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
تَنظ ُرُو نَ
٥٠(were) looking
And [recall] when We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking on.
2:51
وَإِذۡ
And when
وٰ عَدۡ نَا
We appointed
مُوسَىٰٓ
(for) Musa
أَرۡبَعِينَ
forty
لَيۡلَةً
nights
Then
you took
the calf
مِنۢ
from
after him
وَأَنت ُمۡ
and you
ظَـٰ لِمُو نَ
٥١(were) wrongdoers
And [recall] when We made an appointment with Moses for forty nights. Then you took [for worship] the calf after him [i.e., his departure], while you were wrongdoers.
2:52
ثُمّ َ
Then
عَفَوۡنَا
We forgave
عَنك ُم
you
from
after
ذٰ لِكَ
that
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُو نَ
٥٢(be) grateful
Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.
2:53
وَإِذۡ
And when
ءَاتَيۡنَا
We gave
مُوسَى
Musa
the Book
وَٱ لۡفُرۡقَانَ
and the Criterion
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
perhaps you
تَهۡتَدُو نَ
٥٣(would be) guided
And [recall] when We gave Moses the Scripture and criterion1 that perhaps you would be guided.
2:54
وَإِذۡ
And when
قَالَ
said
مُوسَىٰ
Musa
لِقَوۡمِهِۦ
to his people
يَـٰ قَوۡمِ
O my people
إِنّ َكُمۡ
Indeed, you
ظَلَمۡتُمۡ
[you] have wronged
أَنف ُسَكُم
yourselves
by your taking
the calf
فَتُوبُوٓ اۡ
So turn in repentance
إِلَىٰ
to
بَارِئِكُمۡ
your Creator
فَٱ قۡ تُلُوٓ اۡ
and kill
أَنف ُسَكُمۡ
yourselves
ذٰ لِكُمۡ
That
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
for you
عِند َ
with
بَارِئِكُمۡ
your Creator
فَتَابَ
Then He turned
عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ
towards you
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed He
هُوَ
He
(is) the-returning
the Most Merciful
And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "O my people, indeed you have wronged yourselves by your taking of the calf [for worship]. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves [i.e., the guilty among you]. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.
2:55
وَإِذۡ
And when
قُلۡتُمۡ
you said
يَـٰ مُوسَىٰ
O Musa
لَن
Never
(will) we believe
لَكَ
in you
حَتَّىٰ
until
نَرَى
we see
Allah
جَهۡرَةً
manifestly
So seized you
the thunderbolt
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
تَنظ ُرُو نَ
٥٥(were) looking
And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe you until we see Allāh outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on.
2:56
ثُمّ َ
Then
بَعَثۡنَـٰ كُم
We revived you
from
after
مَوۡتِكُمۡ
your death
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُو نَ
٥٦(be) grateful
Then We revived you after your death that perhaps you would be grateful.
2:57
وَظَلَّلۡنَا
And We shaded
عَلَيۡكُمُ
[over] you
(with) [the] clouds
وَأَنز َلۡنَا
and We sent down
عَلَيۡكُمُ
to you
[the] manna
وَٱ ل سَّلۡوَىٰۖ
and [the] quails
كُلُواۡ
Eat
مِن
from
(the) good things
مَا
that
رَزَقۡ نَـٰ كُمۡۖ
We have provided you
وَمَا
And not
ظَلَمُونَا
they wronged Us
وَلَـٰ كِن
but
they were
أَنف ُسَهُمۡ
(to) themselves
يَظۡلِمُو نَ
٥٧doing wrong
And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not - but they were [only] wronging themselves.
2:58
وَإِذۡ
And when
قُلۡنَا
We said
Enter
هَـٰ ذِهِ
this
town
فَكُلُواۡ
then eat
مِنۡهَا
from
حَيۡثُ
wherever
شِئۡتُمۡ
you wish[ed]
رَغَدًا
abundantly
and enter
the gate
سُجَّدًا
prostrating
And say
حِطَّةٌ
Repentance
We will forgive
لَكُمۡ
for you
خَطَـٰ يَـٰ كُمۡۚ
your sins
وَسَنَزِيدُ
And We will increase
the good-doers (in reward)
And [recall] when We said, "Enter this city [i.e., Jerusalem] and eat from it wherever you will in [ease and] abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly1 and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens [i.e., sins].' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."
2:59
فَبَدَّلَ
But changed
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
wronged
قَوۡلاً
(the) word
غَيۡرَ
other (than)
(that) which
قِيلَ
was said
لَهُمۡ
to them
فَأَنز َلۡنَا
so We sent down
عَلَى
upon
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
wronged
رِجۡ زًا
a punishment
from
the sky
بِمَا
because
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَفۡسُقُو نَ
٥٩defiantly disobeying
But those who wronged changed [those words] to a statement other than that which had been said to them, so We sent down upon those who wronged a punishment [i.e., plague] from the sky because they were defiantly disobeying.
