1 Surahs8 Versesركوع 64
4:15
وَٱلَّـٰتِى
And those who
يَأۡتِينَ
commit
ٱلۡفَـٰحِشَةَ
[the] immorality
مِن
from
نِّسَآئِكُمۡ
your women
فَٱسۡتَشۡهِدُواۡ
then call to witness
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
against them
أَرۡبَعَةً
four
مِّنكُمۡ‌ۖ
among you
فَإِن
And if
شَهِدُواۡ
they testify
فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
then confine them
فِى
in
ٱلۡبُيُوتِ
their houses
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَتَوَفَّـٰهُنَّ
comes to them
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
[the] death
أَوۡ
or
يَجۡعَلَ
makes
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
لَهُنَّ
for them
سَبِيلاً
a way
١٥
Those who commit immorality [i.e., unlawful sexual intercourse] of your women - bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify,1 confine them [i.e., the guilty women] to houses until death takes them or Allāh ordains for them [another] way.2
4:16
وَٱلَّذَانِ
And the two who
يَأۡتِيَـٰنِهَا
commit it
مِنكُمۡ
among you
فَـَٔـاذُوهُمَا‌ۖ
then punish both of them
فَإِن
But if
تَابَا
they repent
وَأَصۡلَحَا
and correct themselves
فَأَعۡرِضُواۡ
then turn away
عَنۡهُمَآ‌ۗ
from both of them
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
كَانَ
is
تَوَّابًا
Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمًا
Most-Merciful
١٦
And the two1 who commit it [i.e., unlawful sexual intercourse] among you - punish [i.e., dishonor] them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allāh is ever Accepting of Repentance and Merciful.
4:17
إِنَّمَا
Only
ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ
the acceptance of repentance
عَلَى
by
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
لِلَّذِينَ
(is) for those who
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the evil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ
in ignorance
ثُمَّ
then
يَتُوبُونَ
they repent
مِن
from
قَرِيبٍ
soon after
فَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Then those
يَتُوبُ
will have forgiveness
ٱللَّهُ
(from) Allah
عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۗ
upon them
وَكَانَ
and is
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
عَلِيمًا
All-Knowing
حَكِيمًا
All-Wise
١٧
The repentance accepted by Allāh is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon [after].1 It is those to whom Allāh will turn in forgiveness, and Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.
4:18
وَلَيۡسَتِ
And not
ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ
(is) the acceptance of repentance
لِلَّذِينَ
for those who
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔـاتِ
the evil deeds
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
حَضَرَ
approaches
أَحَدَهُمُ
one of them
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
[the] death
قَالَ
he says
إِنِّى
Indeed I
تُبۡتُ
repent
ٱلۡـَٔـٰنَ
now
وَلَا
and not
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَمُوتُونَ
die
وَهُمۡ
while they
كُفَّارٌ‌ۚ
(are) disbelievers
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
أَعۡتَدۡنَا
We have prepared
لَهُمۡ
for them
عَذَابًا
a punishment
أَلِيمًا
painful
١٨
But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "Indeed, I have repented now," or of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.
4:19
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe[d]
لَا
Not
يَحِلُّ
(is) lawful
لَكُمۡ
for you
أَن
that
تَرِثُواۡ
you inherit
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
the women
كَرۡهًا‌ۖ
(by) force
وَلَا
And not
تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ
you constraint them
لِتَذۡهَبُواۡ
so that you may take
بِبَعۡضِ
a part
مَآ
(of) what
ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ
you have given them
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَأۡتِينَ
they commit
بِفَـٰحِشَةٍ
immorality
مُّبَيِّنَةٍ‌ۚ
open
وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ
And live with them
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ‌ۚ
in kindness
فَإِن
But if
كَرِهۡتُمُوهُنَّ
you dislike them
فَعَسَىٰٓ
then perhaps
أَن
that
تَكۡرَهُواۡ
you dislike
شَيۡــًٔا
a thing
وَيَجۡعَلَ
and has placed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
فِيهِ
in it
خَيۡرًا
good
كَثِيرًا
much
١٩
O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion.1 And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them2 unless they commit a clear immorality [i.e., adultery]. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allāh makes therein much good.
4:20
وَإِنۡ
And if
أَرَدتُّمُ
you intend
ٱسۡتِبۡدَالَ
replacing
زَوۡجٍ
a wife
مَّكَانَ
(in) place
زَوۡجٍ
(of) a wife
وَءَاتَيۡتُمۡ
and you have given
إِحۡدَٮٰهُنَّ
one of them
قِنطَارًا
heap (of gold)
فَلَا
then (do) not
تَأۡخُذُواۡ
take away
مِنۡهُ
from it
شَيۡــًٔا‌ۚ
anything
أَتَأۡخُذُونَهُۥ
Would you take it
بُهۡتَـٰنًا
(by) slander
وَإِثۡمًا
and a sin
مُّبِينًا
open
٢٠
But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount [in gifts], do not take [back] from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin?
4:21
وَكَيۡفَ
And how
تَأۡخُذُونَهُۥ
could you take it
وَقَدۡ
when surely
أَفۡضَىٰ
has gone
بَعۡضُكُمۡ
one of you
إِلَىٰ
to
بَعۡضٍ
another
وَأَخَذۡنَ
and they have taken
مِنكُم
from you
مِّيثَـٰقًا
covenant
غَلِيظًا
strong
٢١
And how could you take it while you have gone in unto each other and they have taken from you a solemn covenant?
4:22
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَنكِحُواۡ
marry
مَا
whom
نَكَحَ
married
ءَابَآؤُكُم
your fathers
مِّنَ
of
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the women
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
قَدۡ
has
سَلَفَ‌ۚ
passed before
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed it
كَانَ
was
فَـٰحِشَةً
an immorality
وَمَقۡتًا
and hateful
وَسَآءَ
and (an) evil
سَبِيلاً
way
٢٢
And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred.1 Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to Allāh] and was evil as a way.
