1 Surahs8 Versesركوع 48
3:64
قُلۡ
Say
يَـٰٓ أَهۡلَ
O People
(of) the Book
تَعَالَوۡاۡ
Come
إِلَىٰ
to
كَلِمَةٍ
a word
equitable
between us
وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ
and between you
أَلَّا
that not
نَعۡبُدَ
we worship
إِلَّا
except
Allah
وَلَا
and not
نُشۡرِكَ
we associate partners
بِهِۦ
with Him
شَيۡــًٔا
anything
and not
يَتَّخِذَ
take
بَعۡضُنَا
some of us
بَعۡضًا
(to) others
أَرۡبَابًا
(as) lords
from
besides
Allah
فَإِن
Then if
they turn away
فَقُولُواۡ
then say
Bear witness
بِأَنّ َا
that we
مُسۡلِمُو نَ
٦٤(are) Muslims
Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allāh and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allāh."1 But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."
3:65
يَـٰٓ أَهۡلَ
O People
(of) the Book
لِمَ
Why
تُحَا ٓجُّونَ
(do) you argue
فِىٓ
concerning
إِبۡ رٰ هِيمَ
Ibrahim
وَمَآ
while not
أُنز ِلَتِ
was revealed
the Taurat
وَٱ لۡإِنج ِيلُ
and the Injeel
إِلَّا
except
مِنۢ
from
after him
أَفَلَا
Then why don't
تَعۡقِلُو نَ
٦٥you use your intellect
O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?
3:66
هَـٰٓ أَنت ُمۡ
Here you are
هَـٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ
those who
حَـٰ جَجۡ تُمۡ
argued
فِيمَا
about what
لَكُم
[for] you
of it
عِلۡمٌ
(have some) knowledge
Then why
تُحَا ٓجُّونَ
(do) you argue
فِيمَا
about what
لَيۡسَ
not
لَكُم
for you
of it
عِلۡمٌۚ
(any) knowledge
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
لَا
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُو نَ
٦٦know
Here you are - those who have argued about that of which you have [some] knowledge, but why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allāh knows, while you know not.
3:67
مَا
Not
كَانَ
was
إِبۡ رٰ هِيمُ
Ibrahim
يَهُودِيًّا
a Jew
and not
نَصۡرَانِيًّا
a Christian
[and] but
he was
حَنِيفًا
a true
Muslim
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
from
the polytheists
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was one inclining toward truth, a Muslim [submitting to Allāh]. And he was not of the polytheists.1
3:68
إِنّ َ
Indeed
أَوۡلَى
the best to claim relationship
(of) people
بِإِبۡ رٰ هِيمَ
with Ibrahim
لَلَّذِينَ
(are) those who
follow him
وَهَـٰ ذَا
and this
[the] Prophet
وَٱ لَّذِينَ
and those who
ءَامَنُواۡۗ
believe[d]
وَٱ للَّهُ
And Allah
وَلِىُّ
(is) a Guardian
(of) the believers
Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in submission to Allāh] and this prophet [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] and those who believe [in his message]. And Allāh is the Ally1 of the believers.
3:69
وَدَّت
Wished
طَّا ٓئِفَةٌ
a group
from
أَهۡلِ
(the) People
(of) the Book
لَوۡ
if
يُضِلُّونَكُمۡ
they could lead you astray
وَمَا
and not
يُضِلُّونَ
they lead astray
إِلَّآ
except
أَنف ُسَهُمۡ
themselves
وَمَا
and not
يَشۡعُرُو نَ
٦٩they perceive
A faction of the People of the Scripture wish they could mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they perceive [it] not.
3:70
يَـٰٓ أَهۡلَ
O People
(of) the Book
لِمَ
Why do
تَكۡفُرُونَ
you deny
بِـَٔـايَـٰ تِ
[in] the Signs
(of) Allah
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
تَشۡهَدُو نَ
٧٠bear witness
O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allāh1 while you witness [to their truth]?
3:71
يَـٰٓ أَهۡلَ
O People
(of) the Book
لِمَ
Why
تَلۡبِسُونَ
do you mix
the truth
بِٱ لۡبَـٰ طِلِ
with the falsehood
وَتَكۡتُمُونَ
and conceal
the truth
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
تَعۡلَمُو نَ
٧١know
O People of the Scripture, why do you mix [i.e., confuse] the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know [it]?
