1 Surahs12 Versesركوع 394
38:15
وَمَا
And not
يَنظ ُرُ
await
هَـٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ
these
إِلَّا
but
صَيۡحَةً
a shout
one
not
لَهَا
for it
مِن
any
delay
And these [disbelievers] await not but one blast [of the Horn]; for it there will be no delay.1
38:16
وَقَالُواۡ
And they say
رَبَّنَا
Our Lord
عَجِّل
Hasten
لَّنَا
for us
قِطَّنَا
our share
قَبۡ لَ
before
يَوۡمِ
(the) Day
(of) the Account
And they say, "Our Lord, hasten for us our share [of the punishment] before the Day of Account."
38:17
ٱصۡبِرۡ
Be patient
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
يَقُولُونَ
they say
وَٱ ذۡكُرۡ
and remember
عَبۡ دَنَا
Our slave
دَاوُۥ دَ
Dawood
ذَا
the possessor of strength
the possessor of strength
إِنّ َهُۥٓ
Indeed, he (was)
أَوَّا ب ٌ
١٧repeatedly turning
Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allāh].
38:18
إِنّ َا
Indeed, We
سَخَّرۡنَا
subjected
the mountains
مَعَهُۥ
with him
يُسَبِّحۡنَ
glorifying
بِٱ لۡعَشِىِّ
in the evening
وَٱ لۡإِشۡرَا ق ِ
١٨and [the] sunrise
Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allāh] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise.
38:19
وَٱ ل طَّيۡرَ
And the birds
مَحۡشُورَةًۖ
assembled
all
with him
أَوَّا ب ٌ
١٩repeatedly turning
And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises].
38:20
وَشَدَدۡ نَا
And We strengthened
مُلۡكَهُۥ
his kingdom
وَءَاتَيۡنَـٰ هُ
and We gave him
[the] wisdom
وَفَصۡلَ
and decisive
speech
And We strengthened his kingdom and gave him wisdom and discernment in speech.
38:21
۞وَهَلۡ
And has (there)
أَتَـٰ كَ
come to you
نَبَؤُاۡ
(the) news
(of) the litigants
إِذۡ
when
تَسَوَّرُواۡ
they climbed over the wall
(of) the chamber
And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber -
38:22
إِذۡ
When
دَخَلُواۡ
they entered
عَلَىٰ
upon
دَاوُۥ دَ
Dawood
فَفَزِعَ
and he was afraid
مِنۡهُمۡۖ
of them
قَالُواۡ
they said
لَا
(Do) not
تَخَفۡۖ
fear
خَصۡمَانِ
(We are) two litigants
بَغَىٰ
has wronged
بَعۡضُنَا
one of us
عَلَىٰ
to
بَعۡضٍ
another
so judge
between us
بِٱ لۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُشۡطِطۡ
be unjust
وَٱ هۡدِنَآ
and guide us
إِلَىٰ
to
سَوَا ٓءِ
an even
[the] path
When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.
38:23
إِنّ َ
Indeed
هَـٰ ذَآ
this
أَخِى
(is) my brother
لَهُۥ
he has
تِسۡعٌ
ninety-nine
ninety-nine
نَعۡجَةً
ewe(s)
while I have
نَعۡجَةٌ
ewe
one
so he said
أَكۡفِلۡنِيهَا
Entrust her to me
وَعَزَّنِى
and he overpowered me
فِى
in
[the] speech
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."
38:24
قَالَ
He said
لَقَدۡ
Certainly
ظَلَمَكَ
he has wronged you
بِسُؤَالِ
by demanding
نَعۡجَتِكَ
your ewe
إِلَىٰ
to
نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ
his ewes
وَإِنّ َ
And indeed
كَثِيرًا
many
of
the partners
لَيَبۡ غِى
certainly oppress
بَعۡضُهُمۡ
some of them
عَلَىٰ
[on]
بَعۡضٍ
another
إِلَّا
except
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
righteous deeds
وَقَلِيلٌ
and few
(are) they
هُمۡۗ
(are) they
وَظَنّ َ
And became certain
دَاوُۥ دُ
Dawood
أَنّ َمَا
that
فَتَنّ َـٰ هُ
We (had) tried him
فَٱ سۡتَغۡفَرَ
and he asked forgiveness
رَبَّهُۥ
(of) his Lord
وَخَرَّ
and fell down
رَاكِعًا
bowing
and turned in repentance
[David] said, "He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds - and few are they." And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord1 and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allāh].
38:25
فَغَفَرۡنَا
So We forgave
لَهُۥ
for him
ذٰ لِكَۖ
that
وَإِنّ َ
And indeed
لَهُۥ
for him
عِند َنَا
with Us
لَزُلۡفَىٰ
surely is a near access
وَحُسۡنَ
and a good
مَــَٔا ب ٍ
٢٥place of return
So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.
38:26
يَـٰ دَاوُۥ دُ
O Dawood
إِنّ َا
Indeed, We
جَعَلۡنَـٰ كَ
[We] have made you
خَلِيفَةً
a vicegerent
in
the earth
فَٱ حۡكُم
so judge
between
[the] men
بِٱ لۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَتَّبِعِ
follow
the desire
فَيُضِلَّكَ
for it will lead you astray
عَن
from
(the) way
(of) Allah
إِنّ َ
Indeed
those who
يَضِلُّونَ
go astray
عَن
from
(the) way
(of) Allah
لَهُمۡ
for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
severe
because
نَسُواۡ
they forgot
يَوۡمَ
(the) Day
(of) Account
[We said], "O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allāh." Indeed, those who go astray from the way of Allāh will have a severe punishment for having forgotten the Day of Account.
