1 Surahs3 Versesركوع 36
2:258
أَلَمۡ
Did not
تَرَ
you see
إِلَى
[towards]
ٱلَّذِى
the one who
حَآجَّ
argued
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمَ
(with) Ibrahim
فِى
concerning
رَبِّهِۦٓ
his Lord
أَنۡ
because
ءَاتَـٰهُ
gave him
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ٱلۡمُلۡكَ
the kingdom
إِذۡ
When
قَالَ
Said
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمُ
Ibrahim
رَبِّىَ
My Lord
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
يُحۡىِۦ
grants life
وَيُمِيتُ
and causes death
قَالَ
He said
أَنَاۡ
I
أُحۡىِۦ
give life
وَأُمِيتُ‌ۖ
and cause death
قَالَ
Said
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمُ
Ibrahim
فَإِنَّ
[Then] indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَأۡتِى
brings up
بِٱلشَّمۡسِ
the sun
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ
the east
فَأۡتِ
so you bring
بِهَا
it
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ
the west
فَبُهِتَ
So became dumbfounded
ٱلَّذِى
the one who
كَفَرَ‌ۗ
disbelieved
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
(who are) [the] wrongdoers
٢٥٨
Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allāh had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allāh brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
2:259
أَوۡ
Or
كَٱلَّذِى
like the one who
مَرَّ
passed
عَلَىٰ
by
قَرۡيَةٍ
a township
وَهِىَ
and it
خَاوِيَةٌ
(had) overturned
عَلَىٰ
on
عُرُوشِهَا
its roofs
قَالَ
He said
أَنَّىٰ
How
يُحۡىِۦ
(will) bring to life
هَـٰذِهِ
this (town)
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بَعۡدَ
after
مَوۡتِهَا‌ۖ
its death
فَأَمَاتَهُ
Then he was made to die
ٱللَّهُ
(by) Allah
مِاۡئَةَ
(for) a hundred
عَامٍ
year(s)
ثُمَّ
then
بَعَثَهُۥ‌ۖ
He raised him
قَالَ
He said
كَمۡ
How long
لَبِثۡتَ‌ۖ
(have) you remained
قَالَ
He said
لَبِثۡتُ
I remained
يَوۡمًا
(for) a day
أَوۡ
or
بَعۡضَ
a part
يَوۡمٍ‌ۖ
(of) a day
قَالَ
He said
بَل
Nay
لَّبِثۡتَ
you (have) remained
مِاۡئَةَ
one hundred
عَامٍ
year(s)
فَٱنظُرۡ
Then look
إِلَىٰ
at
طَعَامِكَ
your food
وَشَرَابِكَ
and your drink
لَمۡ
(they did) not
يَتَسَنَّهۡ‌ۖ
change with time
وَٱنظُرۡ
and look
إِلَىٰ
at
حِمَارِكَ
your donkey
وَلِنَجۡعَلَكَ
and We will make you
ءَايَةً
a sign
لِّلنَّاسِ‌ۖ
for the people
وَٱنظُرۡ
And look
إِلَى
at
ٱلۡعِظَامِ
the bones
كَيۡفَ
how
نُنشِزُهَا
We raise them
ثُمَّ
then
نَكۡسُوهَا
We cover them
لَحۡمًا‌ۚ
(with) flesh
فَلَمَّا
Then when
تَبَيَّنَ
became clear
لَهُۥ
to him
قَالَ
he said
أَعۡلَمُ
I know
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
قَدِيرٌ
All-Powerful
٢٥٩
Or [consider such an example] as the one who passed by a township which had fallen into ruin. He said, "How will Allāh bring this to life after its death?" So Allāh caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him. He said, "How long have you remained?" He [the man] said, "I have remained a day or part of a day." He said, "Rather, you have remained one hundred years. Look at your food and your drink; it has not changed with time. And look at your donkey; and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones [of this donkey] - how We raise them and then We cover them with flesh." And when it became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allāh is over all things competent."
2:260
وَإِذۡ
And when
قَالَ
said
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمُ
Ibrahim
رَبِّ
My Lord
أَرِنِى
show me
كَيۡفَ
how
تُحۡىِ
You give life
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ‌ۖ
(to) the dead
قَالَ
He said
أَوَلَمۡ
Have not
تُؤۡمِن‌ۖ
you believed
قَالَ
He said
بَلَىٰ
Yes
وَلَـٰكِن
[and] but
لِّيَطۡمَئِنَّ
to satisfy
قَلۡبِى‌ۖ
my heart
قَالَ
He said
فَخُذۡ
Then take
أَرۡبَعَةً
four
مِّنَ
of
ٱلطَّيۡرِ
the birds
فَصُرۡهُنَّ
and incline them
إِلَيۡكَ
towards you
ثُمَّ
then
ٱجۡعَلۡ
put
عَلَىٰ
on
كُلِّ
each
جَبَلٍ
hill
مِّنۡهُنَّ
of them
جُزۡءًا
a portion
ثُمَّ
then
ٱدۡعُهُنَّ
call them
يَأۡتِينَكَ
they will come to you
سَعۡيًا‌ۚ
(in) haste
وَٱعۡلَمۡ
And know
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَزِيزٌ
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
All-Wise
٢٦٠
And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." [Allāh] said, "Have you not believed?" He said, "Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be satisfied." [Allāh] said, "Take four birds and commit them to yourself.1 Then [after slaughtering them] put on each hill a portion of them; then call them - they will come [flying] to you in haste. And know that Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise."
