1 Surahs8 Versesركوع 335
28:14
وَلَمّ َا
And when
بَلَغَ
he reached
أَشُدَّهُۥ
his full strength
وَٱ سۡتَوَىٰٓ
and became mature
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰ هُ
We bestowed upon him
حُكۡمًا
wisdom
and knowledge
And thus
نَجۡ زِى
We reward
the good-doers
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.
28:15
وَدَخَلَ
And he entered
the city
عَلَىٰ
at
حِينِ
a time
غَفۡلَةٍ
(of) inattention
of
أَهۡلِهَا
its people
فَوَجَدَ
and found
فِيهَا
therein
رَجُلَيۡنِ
two men
يَقۡ تَتِلَانِ
fighting each other
هَـٰ ذَا
this
مِن
of
his party
وَهَـٰ ذَا
and this
مِنۡ
of
عَدُوِّهِۦ ۖ
his enemy
فَٱ سۡتَغَـٰ ثَهُ
And called him for help
the one who
مِن
(was) from
his party
عَلَى
against
the one who
مِنۡ
(was) from
عَدُوِّهِۦ
his enemy
فَوَكَزَهُۥ
so Musa struck him with his fist
مُوسَىٰ
so Musa struck him with his fist
فَقَضَىٰ
and killed him
عَلَيۡهِۖ
and killed him
قَالَ
He said
هَـٰ ذَا
This (is)
مِنۡ
of
عَمَلِ
(the) deed
(of) Shaitaan
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, he
عَدُوٌّ
(is) an enemy
one who misleads
clearly
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people1 and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."
28:16
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
إِنّ ِى
Indeed, I
ظَلَمۡتُ
[I] have wronged
نَفۡسِى
my soul
فَٱ غۡفِرۡ
so forgive
لِى
[for] me
فَغَفَرَ
Then He forgave
لَهُۥٓۚ
[for] him
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed He
هُوَ
He (is)
the Oft-Forgiving
the Most Merciful
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
28:17
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
بِمَآ
Because
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
You have favored
عَلَىَّ
[on] me
فَلَنۡ
so not
أَكُونَ
I will be
ظَهِيرًا
a supporter
(of) the criminals
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."
28:18
فَأَصۡبَحَ
In the morning he was
فِى
in
the city
خَا ٓئِفًا
fearful
(and) was vigilant
فَإِذَا
when behold
The one who
sought his help
بِٱ لۡأَمۡسِ
the previous day
يَسۡتَصۡرِخُهُۥ ۚ
cried out to him for help
قَالَ
Said
لَهُۥ
to him
مُوسَىٰٓ
Musa
إِنّ َكَ
Indeed, you
لَغَوِىٌّ
(are) surely a deviator
clear
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."
28:19
فَلَمّ َآ
Then when
أَنۡ
[that]
أَرَادَ
he wanted
أَن
to
strike
بِٱ لَّذِى
the one who
هُوَ
[he] (was)
عَدُوٌّ
an enemy
to both of them
قَالَ
he said
يَـٰ مُوسَىٰٓ
O Musa
أَتُرِيدُ
Do you intend
أَن
to
kill me
كَمَا
as
قَتَلۡتَ
you killed
نَفۡسَۢا
a person
yesterday
إِن
Not
you want
إِلَّآ
but
أَن
that
you become
جَبَّارًا
a tyrant
in
the earth
وَمَا
and not
تُرِيدُ
you want
أَن
that
you be
مِنَ
of
the reformers
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he1 said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."
28:20
وَجَا ٓءَ
And came
رَجُلٌ
a man
from
أَقۡ صَا
(the) farthest end
(of) the city
يَسۡعَىٰ
running
قَالَ
He said
يَـٰ مُوسَىٰٓ
O Musa
إِنّ َ
Indeed
the chiefs
يَأۡتَمِرُونَ
are taking counsel
بِكَ
about you
لِيَقۡ تُلُوكَ
to kill you
فَٱ خۡرُجۡ
so leave
إِنّ ِى
indeed, I am
لَكَ
to you
مِنَ
of
the sincere advisors
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors."
28:21
فَخَرَجَ
So he left
مِنۡهَا
from it
خَا ٓئِفًا
fearing
(and) vigilant
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
نَجِّنِى
Save me
مِنَ
from
the people
the wrongdoers
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."
