22:11
وَمِنَ
And among
the mankind
مَن
(is he) who
worships
Allah
عَلَىٰ
on
حَرۡفٍۖ
an edge
And if
أَصَابَهُۥ
befalls him
خَيۡرٌ
good
he is content
بِهِۦ ۖ
with it
وَإِنۡ
and if
أَصَابَتۡهُ
befalls him
فِتۡنَةٌ
a trial
he turns
عَلَىٰ
on
وَجۡ هِهِۦ
his face
خَسِرَ
He has lost
the world
وَٱ لۡأَخِرَةَۚ
and the Hereafter
ذٰ لِكَ
That
هُوَ
[it]
(is) the loss
clear
And of the people is he who worships Allāh on an edge.1 If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to unbelief]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss.
22:12
يَدۡ عُواۡ
He calls
مِن
besides
besides
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
not
يَضُرُّهُۥ
harms him
وَمَا
and what
لَا
not
يَنف َعُهُۥ ۚ
benefits him
ذٰ لِكَ
That
هُوَ
[it]
(is) the straying
far away
He invokes instead of Allāh that which neither harms him nor benefits him. That is what is the extreme error.
22:13
يَدۡ عُواۡ
He calls
لَمَن
(one) who
his harm
أَقۡ رَبُ
(is) closer
مِن
than
his benefit
لَبِئۡسَ
Surely, an evil
protector
وَلَبِئۡسَ
and surely an evil
friend
He invokes one whose harm is closer than his benefit - how wretched the protector and how wretched the associate.
22:14
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
يُدۡ خِلُ
will admit
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ

وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
the righteous deeds

مِن
from
underneath it
the rivers
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
يَفۡعَلُ
does
مَا
what
يُرِي د ُ
١٤He intends
Indeed, Allāh will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Indeed, Allāh does what He intends.
22:15
مَن
Whoever
[is]
يَظُنّ ُ
thinks
أَن

Allah will help him
Allah will help him
فِى
in
the world
وَٱ لۡأَخِرَةِ
and the Hereafter
فَلۡيَمۡدُدۡ
then let him extend
بِسَبَبٍ
a rope
إِلَى
to
the sky
ثُمّ َ
then
لۡيَقۡ طَعۡ
let him cut off
فَلۡيَنظ ُرۡ
then let him see
هَلۡ
whether
يُذۡهِبَنّ َ
will remove
كَيۡدُهُۥ
his plan
مَا
what
يَغِي ظُ
١٥enrages
Whoever should think that Allāh will not support him [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] in this world and the Hereafter - let him extend a rope to the ceiling, then cut off [his breath],1 and let him see: will his effort remove that which enrages [him]?
22:16
وَكَذٰ لِكَ
And thus
أَنز َلۡنَـٰ هُ
We sent it down
ءَايَـٰ تِۭ
(as) clear Verses
(as) clear Verses
and that
Allah
يَهۡدِى
guides
مَن
whom
He intends
And thus have We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down as verses of clear evidence and because Allāh guides whom He intends.
22:17
إِنّ َ
Indeed
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
have believed
وَٱ لَّذِينَ
and those who
هَادُواۡ
were Jews
وَٱ ل صَّـٰ بِــِٔينَ
and the Sabians
وَٱ ل نّ َصَـٰ رَىٰ
and the Christians
وَٱ لۡمَجُوسَ
and the Magians
وَٱ لَّذِينَ
and those who
أَشۡرَكُوٓ اۡ
(are) polytheists
إِنّ َ
indeed
Allah
يَفۡصِلُ
will judge
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
between them
يَوۡمَ
(on) the Day
(of) the Resurrection
إِنّ َ
Indeed
Allah
عَلَىٰ
over
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
(is) a Witness
Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated with Allāh - Allāh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1

إِنّ َ
Indeed

يَشَا ٓءُ
۩He wills
Do you not see [i.e., know] that to Allāh prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified.1 And he whom Allāh humiliates - for him there is no bestower of honor. Indeed, Allāh does what He wills.
22:19

These1 are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord. But those who disbelieved will have cut out for them garments of fire. Poured upon their heads will be scalding water
