1 Surahs13 Versesركوع 256
18:32
۞وَٱ ضۡرِبۡ
And set forth
لَهُم
to them
the example
of two men:
جَعَلۡنَا
We provided
لِأَحَدِهِمَا
for one of them
جَنّ َتَيۡنِ
two gardens
مِنۡ
of
أَعۡنَـٰ بٍ
grapes
and We bordered them
بِنَخۡلٍ
with date-palms
and We placed
بَيۡنَهُمَا
between both of them
زَرۡعًا
٣٢crops
And present to them an example of two men: We granted to one of them two gardens of grapevines, and We bordered them with palm trees and placed between them [fields of] crops.
18:33
كِلۡتَا
Each
(of) the two gardens
ءَاتَتۡ
brought forth
أُكُلَهَا
its produce
وَلَمۡ
and not
تَظۡلِم
did wrong
of it
شَيۡــًٔاۚ
anything
And We caused to gush forth
خِلَـٰ لَهُمَا
within them
نَهَرًا
٣٣a river
Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river.
18:34
وَكَانَ
And was
لَهُۥ
for him
ثَمَرٌ
fruit
so he said
لِصَـٰ حِبِهِۦ
to his companion
وَهُوَ
while he
يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ
(was) talking with him
أَنَاۡ
I am
أَكۡثَرُ
greater
مِنك َ
than you
مَالاً
(in) wealth
and stronger
نَفَرًا
٣٤(in) men
And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men."
18:35
وَدَخَلَ
And he entered
جَنّ َتَهُۥ
his garden
وَهُوَ
while he
ظَالِمٌ
(was) unjust
to himself
قَالَ
He said
مَآ
Not
أَظُنّ ُ
I think
أَن
that
will perish
هَـٰ ذِهِۦٓ
this
أَبَدًا
٣٥ever
And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself.1 He said, "I do not think that this will perish - ever.
18:36
وَمَآ
And not
أَظُنّ ُ
I think
the Hour
قَا ٓئِمَةً
will occur
And if
I am brought back
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّى
my Lord
لَأَجِدَنّ َ
I will surely find
خَيۡرًا
better
than this
مُنق َلَبًا
٣٦(as) a return
And I do not think the Hour will occur. And even if I should be brought back to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a return."
18:37
قَالَ
Said
لَهُۥ
to him
صَاحِبُهُۥ
his companion
وَهُوَ
while he
يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ
was talking to him
أَكَفَرۡتَ
Do you disbelieve
بِٱ لَّذِى
in One Who
خَلَقَكَ
created you
مِن
from
dust
then
مِن
from
a minute quantity of semen
then
سَوَّٮٰ كَ
fashioned you
رَجُلاً
٣٧(into) a man
His companion said to him while he was conversing with him, "Have you disbelieved in He who created you from dust and then from a sperm-drop and then proportioned you [as] a man?
18:38
لَّـٰ كِنّ َاۡ
But as for me
هُوَ
He
(is) Allah
رَبِّى
my Lord
وَلَآ
and not
أُشۡرِكُ
I associate
بِرَبِّىٓ
with my Lord
أَحَدًا
٣٨anyone
But as for me, He is Allāh, my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone.
18:39
وَلَوۡلَآ
And why (did you) not
إِذۡ
when
دَخَلۡتَ
you entered
جَنّ َتَكَ
your garden
قُلۡتَ
say
مَا
What
شَا ٓءَ
wills
Allah
لَا
(there is) no
قُوَّةَ
power
إِلَّا
except
بِٱ للَّهِۚ
with Allah
إِن
If
you see me
أَنَاۡ
(me)
أَقَلَّ
lesser
مِنك َ
than you
مَالاً
(in) wealth
and children
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allāh willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allāh'? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,
18:40
فَعَسَىٰ
It may be
رَبِّىٓ
that my Lord
أَن
that my Lord
will give me
خَيۡرًا
better
than
your garden
وَيُرۡسِلَ
and will send
عَلَيۡهَا
upon it
حُسۡبَانًا
a calamity
from
the sky
فَتُصۡبِحَ
then it will become
صَعِيدًا
ground
slippery
It may be that my Lord will give me [something] better than your garden and will send upon it a [disastrous] penalty from the sky, and it will become a smooth, dusty ground,
18:41
أَوۡ
Or
يُصۡبِحَ
will become
مَا ٓؤُهَا
its water
غَوۡرًا
sunken
so never
you will be able
لَهُۥ
to find it
طَلَبًا
٤١to find it
Or its water will become sunken [into the earth], so you would never be able to seek it."
18:42
وَأُحِيطَ
And were surrounded
بِثَمَرِهِۦ
his fruits
فَأَصۡبَحَ
so he began
يُقَلِّبُ
twisting
كَفَّيۡهِ
his hands
عَلَىٰ
over
مَآ
what
أَنف َقَ
he (had) spent
فِيهَا
on it
وَهِىَ
while it (had)
خَاوِيَةٌ
collapsed
عَلَىٰ
on
عُرُوشِهَا
its trellises
وَيَقُولُ
and he said
يَـٰ لَيۡتَنِى
Oh! I wish
لَمۡ
I had not associated
أُشۡرِكۡ
I had not associated
بِرَبِّىٓ
with my Lord
أَحَدًا
٤٢anyone
And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, "Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone."1
18:43
وَلَمۡ
And not
تَكُن
was
for him
فِئَةٌ
a group
(to) help him
مِن
other than
other than
Allah
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
was
مُنت َصِرًا
٤٣(he) supported
And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allāh, nor could he defend himself.
18:44
هُنَالِكَ
There
the protection
لِلَّهِ
(is) from Allah
the True
هُوَ
He
خَيۡرٌ
(is the) best
(to) reward
and (the) best
عُقۡ بًا
٤٤(for) the final end
There1 the authority is [completely] for Allāh, the Truth. He is best in reward and best in outcome.
