1 Surahs12 Versesركوع 252
18:1
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All Praise
لِلَّهِ
(is) for Allah
the One Who
أَنز َلَ
(has) revealed
عَلَىٰ
to
عَبۡ دِهِ
His slave
the Book
وَلَمۡ
and not
يَجۡ عَل
(has) made
لَّهُۥ
in it
عِوَجَاۜ
١any crookedness
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, who has sent down upon His Servant [Muḥammad (ﷺ)] the Book and has not made therein any deviance.1
18:2
قَيِّمًا
Straight
to warn
بَأۡسًا
(of) a punishment
severe
from
near Him
وَيُبَشِّرَ
and give glad tidings
(to) the believers
those who
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
righteous deeds
أَنّ َ
that
لَهُمۡ
for them
أَجۡ رًا
(is) a good reward
حَسَنًا
٢(is) a good reward
[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward [i.e., Paradise].
18:3
مَّـٰ كِثِينَ
(They will) abide
فِيهِ
in it
أَبَدًا
٣forever
In which they will remain forever
18:4
وَيُنذ ِرَ
And to warn
those who
قَالُواۡ
say
Allah has taken
Allah has taken
وَلَدًا
٤a son
And to warn those who say, "Allāh has taken a son".
18:5
مَّا
Not
لَهُم
they have
about it
مِنۡ
any
عِلۡمٍ
knowledge
and not
لِأَبَا ٓئِهِمۡۚ
their forefathers
كَبُرَتۡ
Grave (is)
كَلِمَةً
the word
(that) comes out
مِنۡ
of
أَفۡوٰ هِهِمۡۚ
their mouths
إِن
Not
they say
إِلَّا
except
كَذِبًا
٥a lie
They have no knowledge of it,1 nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie.
18:6
فَلَعَلَّكَ
Then perhaps you would (be)
بَـٰ خِعٌ
the one who kills
yourself
عَلَىٰٓ
over
ءَاثَـٰ رِهِمۡ
their footsteps
إِن
if
not
يُؤۡمِنُواۡ
they believe
بِهَـٰ ذَا
in this
[the] narration
أَسَفًا
٦(in) grief
Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muḥammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow.
18:7
إِنّ َا
Indeed, We
جَعَلۡنَا
We have made
مَا
what
عَلَى
(is) on
the earth
زِينَةً
adornment
for it
لِنَبۡ لُوَهُمۡ
that We may test [them]
أَيُّهُمۡ
which of them
أَحۡسَنُ
(is) best
عَمَلاً
٧(in) deed
Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.
18:8
وَإِنّ َا
And indeed, We
لَجَـٰ عِلُونَ
(will) surely make
مَا
what
عَلَيۡهَا
(is) on it
صَعِيدًا
soil
barren
And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground.
18:9
أَمۡ
Or
حَسِبۡ تَ
have you thought
أَنّ َ
that
أَصۡحَـٰ بَ
(the) companions
(of) the cave
وَٱ ل رَّقِيمِ
and the inscription
كَانُواۡ
were
مِنۡ
among
ءَايَـٰ تِنَا
Our Signs
عَجَبًا
٩a wonder
Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder?1
18:10
إِذۡ
When
أَوَى
retreated
the youths
إِلَى
to
the cave
فَقَالُواۡ
and they said
رَبَّنَآ
Our Lord
ءَاتِنَا
Grant us
مِن
from
Yourself
رَحۡمَةً
Mercy
and facilitate
لَنَا
for us
مِنۡ
[from]
أَمۡرِنَا
our affair
رَشَدًا
١٠(in the) right way
[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance."
18:11
فَضَرَبۡ نَا
So We cast
عَلَىٰٓ
over
ءَاذَانِهِمۡ
their ears
فِى
in
the cave
سِنِينَ
years
عَدَدًا
١١a number
So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years.
18:12
ثُمّ َ
Then
بَعَثۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
We raised them up
لِنَعۡلَمَ
that We make evident
أَىُّ
which
(of) the two parties
أَحۡصَىٰ
best calculated
لِمَا
for what
لَبِثُوٓ اۡ
(they had) remained
أَمَدًا
١٢(in) time
Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.
