1 Surahs8 Versesركوع 199
12:50
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
the king
ٱئۡتُونِى
Bring him to me
بِهِۦ‌ۖ
Bring him to me
فَلَمَّا
But when
جَآءَهُ
came to him
ٱلرَّسُولُ
the messenger
قَالَ
he said
ٱرۡجِعۡ
Return
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّكَ
your lord
فَسۡــَٔلۡهُ
and ask him
مَا
what
بَالُ
(is the) case
ٱلنِّسۡوَةِ
(of) the women
ٱلَّـٰتِى
who
قَطَّعۡنَ
cut
أَيۡدِيَهُنَّ‌ۚ
their hands
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
بِكَيۡدِهِنَّ
of their plot
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
٥٠
And the king said, "Bring him to me." But when the messenger came to him, [Joseph] said, "Return to your master and ask him what is the case of the women who cut their hands. Indeed, my Lord is Knowing of their plan."
12:51
قَالَ
He said
مَا
What
خَطۡبُكُنَّ
(was) your affair
إِذۡ
when
رٰوَدتُّنَّ
you sought to seduce
يُوسُفَ
Yusuf
عَن
from
نَّفۡسِهِۦ‌ۚ
himself
قُلۡنَ
They said
حَـٰشَ
Allah forbid
لِلَّهِ
Allah forbid
مَا
Not
عَلِمۡنَا
we know
عَلَيۡهِ
about him
مِن
any
سُوٓءٍ‌ۚ
evil
قَالَتِ
Said
ٱمۡرَأَتُ
(the) wife
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
(of) Aziz
ٱلۡـَٔـٰنَ
Now
حَصۡحَصَ
(is) manifest
ٱلۡحَقُّ
the truth
أَنَاۡ
I
رٰوَدتُّهُۥ
sought to seduce him
عَن
from
نَّفۡسِهِۦ
himself
وَإِنَّهُۥ
and indeed, he
لَمِنَ
(is) surely of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
٥١
Said [the king to the women], "What was your condition when you sought to seduce Joseph?" They said, "Perfect is Allāh!1 We know about him no evil." The wife of al-ʿAzeez said, "Now the truth has become evident. It was I who sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is of the truthful.
12:52
ذٰلِكَ
That
لِيَعۡلَمَ
he may know
أَنِّى
that I
لَمۡ
not
أَخُنۡهُ
[I] betray him
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ
in secret
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
كَيۡدَ
(the) plan
ٱلۡخَآئِنِينَ
(of) the betrayers
٥٢
That is so he [i.e., al-ʿAzeez] will know that I did not betray him in [his] absence and that Allāh does not guide the plan of betrayers.
12:53
۞وَمَآ
And not
أُبَرِّئُ
I absolve
نَفۡسِىٓ‌ۚ
myself
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلنَّفۡسَ
the soul
لَأَمَّارَةُۢ
(is) a certain enjoiner
بِٱلسُّوٓءِ
of evil
إِلَّا
unless
مَا
[that]
رَحِمَ
bestows Mercy
رَبِّىٓ‌ۚ
my Lord
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
٥٣
And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."1
12:54
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
the king
ٱئۡتُونِى
Bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ
Bring him to me
أَسۡتَخۡلِصۡهُ
I will select him
لِنَفۡسِى‌ۖ
for myself
فَلَمَّا
Then when
كَلَّمَهُۥ
he spoke to him
قَالَ
he said
إِنَّكَ
Indeed, you
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
(are) today
لَدَيۡنَا
with us
مَكِينٌ
firmly established
أَمِينٌ
(and) trusted
٥٤
And the king said, "Bring him to me; I will appoint him exclusively for myself." And when he spoke to him, he said, "Indeed, you are today established [in position] and trusted."
12:55
قَالَ
He said
ٱجۡعَلۡنِى
Appoint me
عَلَىٰ
over
خَزَآئِنِ
(the) treasuries
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۖ
(of) the land
إِنِّى
Indeed, I
حَفِيظٌ
(will be) a guardian
عَلِيمٌ
knowing
٥٥
[Joseph] said, "Appoint me over the storehouses of the land. Indeed, I will be a knowing guardian."
12:56
وَكَذٰلِكَ
And thus
مَكَّنَّا
We established
لِيُوسُفَ
[to] Yusuf
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
يَتَبَوَّأُ
to settle
مِنۡهَا
therein
حَيۡثُ
where ever
يَشَآءُ‌ۚ
he willed
نُصِيبُ
We bestow
بِرَحۡمَتِنَا
Our Mercy
مَن
(on) whom
نَّشَآءُ‌ۖ
We will
وَلَا
And not
نُضِيعُ
We let go waste
أَجۡرَ
(the) reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
(of) the good-doers
٥٦
And thus We established Joseph in the land to settle therein wherever he willed. We touch with Our mercy whom We will, and We do not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.
12:57
وَلَأَجۡرُ
And surely (the) reward
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
(of) the Hereafter
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
لِّلَّذِينَ
for those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَكَانُواۡ
and are
يَتَّقُونَ
God conscious
٥٧
And the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allāh.
