1 Surahs6 Versesركوع 196
12:30
۞وَقَالَ
And said
نِسۡوَةٌ
women
in
the city
The wife of
Aziz
تُرٰ وِدُ
(is) seeking to seduce
فَتَـٰ هَا
her slave boy
عَن
about
himself
قَدۡ
indeed
شَغَفَهَا
he has impassioned her
حُبًّاۖ
(with) love
إِنّ َا
Indeed, we
لَنَرَٮٰ هَا
[we] surely see her
فِى
in
ضَلَـٰ لٍ
an error
clear
And women in the city said, "The wife of al-ʿAzeez is seeking to seduce her slave boy; he has impassioned her with love. Indeed, we see her [to be] in clear error."
12:31
فَلَمّ َا
So when
سَمِعَتۡ
she heard
بِمَكۡرِهِنّ َ
of their scheming
أَرۡسَلَتۡ
she sent
إِلَيۡهِنّ َ
for them
وَأَعۡتَدَتۡ
and she prepared
لَهُنّ َ
for them
مُتَّكَــًٔا
a banquet
and she gave
كُلَّ
each
وٰ حِدَةٍ
one
of them
سِكِّينًا
a knife
and she said
Come out
عَلَيۡهِنّ َۖ
before them
فَلَمّ َا
Then when
رَأَيۡنَهُۥٓ
they saw him
أَكۡبَرۡنَهُۥ
they greatly admired him
وَقَطَّعۡنَ
and cut
أَيۡدِيَهُنّ َ
their hands
وَقُلۡنَ
they said
حَـٰ شَ
Forbid
لِلَّهِ
Allah
مَا
not
هَـٰ ذَا
(is) this
بَشَرًا
a man
إِنۡ
not
هَـٰ ذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
but
مَلَكٌ
an angel
noble
So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and prepared for them a banquet and gave each one of them a knife and said [to Joseph], "Come out before them." And when they saw him, they greatly admired him and cut their hands1 and said, "Perfect is Allāh!2 This is not a man; this is none but a noble angel."
12:32
قَالَتۡ
She said
فَذٰ لِكُنّ َ
That
(is) the one
لُمۡتُنّ َنِى
you blamed me
فِيهِۖ
about him
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
رٰ وَد تُّهُۥ
I sought to seduce him
عَن
[from]
[himself]
فَٱ سۡتَعۡصَمَۖ
but he saved himself
وَلَئِن
and if
not
يَفۡعَلۡ
he does
مَآ
what
ءَامُرُهُۥ
I order him
لَيُسۡجَنَنّ َ
surely, he will be imprisoned
وَلَيَكُونًا
and certainly will be
of
those who are disgraced
She said, "That is the one about whom you blamed me. And I certainly sought to seduce him, but he firmly refused; and if he will not do what I order him, he will surely be imprisoned and will be of those debased."
12:33
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
the prison
أَحَبُّ
(is) dearer
إِلَىَّ
to me
مِمّ َا
than what
يَدۡ عُونَنِىٓ
they invite me
إِلَيۡهِۖ
to it
وَإِلَّا
And unless
تَصۡرِفۡ
You turn away
عَنّ ِى
from me
كَيۡدَهُنّ َ
their plot
أَصۡبُ
I might incline
إِلَيۡهِنّ َ
towards them
وَأَكُن
and [I] be
of
the ignorant
He said, "My Lord, prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me. And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and [thus] be of the ignorant."
12:34
فَٱ سۡتَجَابَ
So responded
لَهُۥ
to him
رَبُّهُۥ
his Lord
فَصَرَفَ
and turned away
عَنۡهُ
from him
كَيۡدَهُنّ َۚ
their plot
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, [He]
هُوَ
He
(is) All-Hearer
All-Knower
So his Lord responded to him and averted from him their plan. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
12:35
ثُمّ َ
Then
بَدَا
(it) appeared
لَهُم
to them
after
after
مَا
[what]
رَأَوُاۡ
they had seen
the signs
لَيَسۡجُنُنّ َهُۥ
surely they should imprison him
حَتَّىٰ
until
حِي نٍ
٣٥a time
Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs1 that he [i.e., al-ʿAzeez] should surely imprison him for a time.2
