1 Surahs12 Versesركوع 17
2:130
وَمَن
And who
يَرۡغَبُ
will turn away
عَن
from
مِّلَّةِ
(the) religion
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمَ
(of) Ibrahim
إِلَّا
except
مَن
who
سَفِهَ
fooled
نَفۡسَهُۥ‌ۚ
himself
وَلَقَدِ
And indeed
ٱصۡطَفَيۡنَـٰهُ
We chose him
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا‌ۖ
the world
وَإِنَّهُۥ
and indeed he
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
لَمِنَ
surely (will be) among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
the righteous
١٣٠
And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.
2:131
إِذۡ
When
قَالَ
said
لَهُۥ
to him
رَبُّهُۥٓ
his Lord
أَسۡلِمۡ‌ۖ
Submit (yourself)
قَالَ
he said
أَسۡلَمۡتُ
I (have) submitted (myself)
لِرَبِّ
to (the) Lord
ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds
١٣١
When his Lord said to him, "Submit," he said, "I have submitted [in Islām]1 to the Lord of the worlds."
2:132
وَوَصَّىٰ
And enjoined
بِهَآ
[it]
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمُ
Ibrahim
بَنِيهِ
(upon) his sons
وَيَعۡقُوبُ
and Yaqub
يَـٰبَنِىَّ
O my sons
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ٱصۡطَفَىٰ
has chosen
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلدِّينَ
the religion
فَلَا
so not
تَمُوتُنَّ
(should) you die
إِلَّا
except
وَأَنتُم
while you
مُّسۡلِمُونَ
(are) submissive
١٣٢
And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allāh has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims."
2:133
أَمۡ
Or
كُنتُمۡ
were you
شُهَدَآءَ
witnesses
إِذۡ
when
حَضَرَ
came to
يَعۡقُوبَ
Yaqub
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
[the] death
إِذۡ
when
قَالَ
he said
لِبَنِيهِ
to his sons
مَا
What
تَعۡبُدُونَ
will you worship
مِنۢ
from
بَعۡدِى
after me
قَالُواۡ
They said
نَعۡبُدُ
We will worship
إِلَـٰهَكَ
your God
وَإِلَـٰهَ
and (the) God
ءَابَآئِكَ
(of) your forefathers
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَـٰعِيلَ
and Ishmael
وَإِسۡحَـٰقَ
and Isaac
إِلَـٰهًا
God
وٰحِدًا
One
وَنَحۡنُ
And we
لَهُۥ
to Him
مُسۡلِمُونَ
(are) submissive
١٣٣
Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God.1 And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
2:134
تِلۡكَ
This
أُمَّةٌ
(was) a community
قَدۡ
(which)
خَلَتۡ‌ۖ
has passed away
لَهَا
for it
مَا
what
كَسَبَتۡ
it earned
وَلَكُم
and for you
مَّا
what
كَسَبۡتُمۡ‌ۖ
you have earned
وَلَا
And not
تُسۡــَٔلُونَ
you will be asked
عَمَّا
about what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
١٣٤
That was a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.
2:135
وَقَالُواۡ
And they said
كُونُواۡ
Be
هُودًا
Jews
أَوۡ
or
نَصَـٰرَىٰ
Christians
تَهۡتَدُواۡ‌ۗ
(then) you will be guided
قُلۡ
Say
بَلۡ
Nay
مِلَّةَ
(the) religion
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمَ
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًا‌ۖ
(the) upright
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
those who associated partners (with Allah)
١٣٥
They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."1
2:136
قُولُوٓاۡ
Say
ءَامَنَّا
We have believed
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
(is) revealed
إِلَيۡنَا
to us
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
was revealed
إِلَىٰٓ
to
إِبۡرٰهِــۧمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَـٰعِيلَ
and Ishmael
وَإِسۡحَـٰقَ
and Isaac
وَيَعۡقُوبَ
and Yaqub
وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ
and the descendants
وَمَآ
and what
أُوتِىَ
was given
مُوسَىٰ
(to) Musa
وَعِيسَىٰ
and Isa
وَمَآ
and what
أُوتِىَ
was given
ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ
(to) the Prophets
مِن
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ
their Lord
لَا
Not
نُفَرِّقُ
we make distinction
بَيۡنَ
between
أَحَدٍ
any
مِّنۡهُمۡ
of them
وَنَحۡنُ
And we
لَهُۥ
to Him
مُسۡلِمُونَ
(are) submissive
١٣٦
Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allāh and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants [al-Asbāṭ]1 and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
2:137
فَإِنۡ
So if
ءَامَنُواۡ
they believe[d]
بِمِثۡلِ
in (the) like
مَآ
(of) what
ءَامَنتُم
you have believed
بِهِۦ
in [it]
فَقَدِ
then indeed
ٱهۡتَدَواۡ‌ۖ
they are (rightly) guided
وَّإِن
But if
تَوَلَّوۡاۡ
they turn away
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
هُمۡ
they
فِى
(are) in
شِقَاقٍ‌ۖ
dissension
فَسَيَكۡفِيكَهُمُ
So will suffice you against them
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
Allah
وَهُوَ
and He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
(is) the All-Hearing
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
the All-Knowing
١٣٧
So if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been [rightly] guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allāh will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
2:138
صِبۡغَةَ
(The) color (religion)
ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ
(of) Allah
وَمَنۡ
And who
أَحۡسَنُ
(is) better
مِنَ
than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
صِبۡغَةً‌ۖ
at coloring
وَنَحۡنُ
And we
لَهُۥ
to Him
عَـٰبِدُونَ
(are) worshippers
١٣٨
[And say, "Ours is] the religion of Allāh. And who is better than Allāh in [ordaining] religion? And we are worshippers of Him."
2:139
قُلۡ
Say
أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا
Do you argue with us
فِى
about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَهُوَ
while He
رَبُّنَا
(is) our Lord
وَرَبُّكُمۡ
and your Lord
وَلَنَآ
And for us
أَعۡمَـٰلُنَا
(are) our deeds
وَلَكُمۡ
and for you
أَعۡمَـٰلُكُمۡ
(are) your deeds
وَنَحۡنُ
and we
لَهُۥ
to Him
مُخۡلِصُونَ
(are) sincere
١٣٩
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Do you argue with us about Allāh while He is our Lord and your Lord? For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. And we are sincere [in deed and intention] to Him."
2:140
أَمۡ

وَيَعۡقُوبَ
and Yaqub
وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطَ
and the descendants
كَانُواۡ
were
هُودًا
Jews
أَوۡ

نَصَـٰرَىٰ‌ۗ
Christians
قُلۡ
Say
ءَأَنتُمۡ
Are you
أَعۡلَمُ
better knowing
أَمِ
or
ٱللَّهُ‌ۗ
(is) Allah
وَمَنۡ
And who
أَظۡلَمُ
(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
than (the one) who
كَتَمَ
concealed
شَهَـٰدَةً
a testimony
عِندَهُۥ
(that) he has
مِنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ
Allah
وَمَا
And not
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
بِغَـٰفِلٍ
unaware
عَمَّا
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
you do
١٤٠
Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allāh?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony1 he has from Allāh? And Allāh is not unaware of what you do.
