The Troops75 Verses6 Hadithsmakkah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

39:1
تَنزِيلُ
(The) revelation
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ
(of) the Book
مِنَ
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمِ
the All-Wise
١
The revelation of the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
39:2
إِنَّآ
Indeed, We
أَنزَلۡنَآ
[We] have revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
فَٱعۡبُدِ
so worship
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مُخۡلِصًا
(being) sincere
لَّهُ
to Him
ٱلدِّينَ
(in) the religion
٢
Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], in truth. So worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
39:3
أَلَا
Unquestionably
لِلَّهِ
for Allah
ٱلدِّينُ
(is) the religion
ٱلۡخَالِصُ‌ۚ
the pure
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ٱتَّخَذُواۡ
take
مِن
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
أَوۡلِيَآءَ
protectors
مَا
Not
نَعۡبُدُهُمۡ
we worship them
إِلَّا
except
لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ
that they may bring us near
إِلَى
to
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
زُلۡفَىٰٓ
(in) nearness
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَحۡكُمُ
will judge
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
between them
فِى
in
مَا
what
هُمۡ
they
فِيهِ
[in it]
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ‌ۗ
differ
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
مَنۡ
(one) who
هُوَ
[he]
كَـٰذِبٌ
(is) a liar
كَفَّارٌ
and a disbeliever
٣
Unquestionably, for Allāh is the pure religion.1 And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allāh in position." Indeed, Allāh will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allāh does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
39:4
لَّوۡ
If
أَرَادَ
Allah (had) intended
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (had) intended
أَن
to
يَتَّخِذَ
take
وَلَدًا
a son
لَّٱصۡطَفَىٰ
surely, He (could) have chosen
مِمَّا
from what
يَخۡلُقُ
He creates
مَا
whatever
يَشَآءُ‌ۚ
He willed
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ‌ۖ
Glory be to Him
هُوَ
He
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
ٱلۡوٰحِدُ
the One
ٱلۡقَهَّارُ
the Irresistible
٤
If Allāh had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allāh, the One, the Prevailing.1
39:5
خَلَقَ
He created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۖ
in [the] truth
يُكَوِّرُ
He wraps
ٱلَّيۡلَ
the night
عَلَى
over
ٱلنَّهَارِ
the day
وَيُكَوِّرُ
and wraps
ٱلنَّهَارَ
the day
عَلَى
over
ٱلَّيۡلِ‌ۖ
the night
وَسَخَّرَ
And He subjected
ٱلشَّمۡسَ
the sun
وَٱلۡقَمَرَ‌ۖ
and the moon
كُلٌّ
each
يَجۡرِى
running
لِأَجَلٍ
for a term
مُّسَمًّى‌ۗ
specified
أَلَا
Unquestionably
هُوَ
He
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلۡغَفَّـٰرُ
the Oft-Forgiving
٥
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.1
39:6
خَلَقَكُم
He created you

ذٰلِكُمُ
That
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمۡ
your Lord
لَهُ
for Him
ٱلۡمُلۡكُ‌ۖ
(is) the dominion
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
god
إِلَّا
except
هُوَ‌ۖ
He
فَأَنَّىٰ
Then how
تُصۡرَفُونَ
are you turning away
٦
He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates.1 He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses.2 That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?
39:7
إِن
If
تَكۡفُرُواۡ
you disbelieve
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَنِىٌّ
(is) free from need
عَنكُمۡ‌ۖ
of you
وَلَا
And not
يَرۡضَىٰ

لِعِبَادِهِ

ٱلۡكُفۡرَ‌ۖ
ungratefulness
وَإِن
And if
تَشۡكُرُواۡ
you are grateful

وِزۡرَ
(the) burden
أُخۡرَىٰ‌ۗ
(of) another
ثُمَّ
Then
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّكُم
your Lord
مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ
(is) your return
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
then He will inform you
بِمَا
about what
كُنتُمۡ

إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
عَلِيمُۢ
(is) the All-Knower
بِذَاتِ
of what (is) in the breasts
ٱلصُّدُورِ
of what (is) in the breasts
٧
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allāh is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
39:8

Indeed, you

٨
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before,1 and he attributes to Allāh equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire."

٩
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

They will have canopies [i.e., layers] of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allāh threatens [i.e., warns] His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

٢١
Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding.

So is one whose breast Allāh has expanded to [accept] Islām and he is upon [i.e., guided by] a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allāh. Those are in manifest error.

٢٣
Allāh has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance [i.e., mention] of Allāh. That is the guidance of Allāh by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allāh sends astray - for him there is no guide.
39:24
أَفَمَن
Then (is) he who

٢٤
Then is he who will shield with his face1 the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn."
39:25

Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

So Allāh made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

غَيۡرَ
without
ذِى
any
عِوَجٍ
crookedness
لَّعَلَّهُمۡ
so that they may
يَتَّقُونَ
(become) righteous
٢٨
[It is] an Arabic Qur’ān, without any deviance1 that they might become righteous.2
39:29
ضَرَبَ
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
Allah sets forth
مَثَلاً
an example
رَّجُلاً
a man
فِيهِ
about him
شُرَكَآءُ
partners
مُتَشَـٰكِسُونَ
quarreling
وَرَجُلاً
and a man
سَلَمًا
(belonging) exclusively
لِّرَجُلٍ
to one man
هَلۡ
are
يَسۡتَوِيَانِ
they both equal
مَثَلاً‌ۚ
(in) comparison
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise
لِلَّهِ‌ۚ
(be) to Allah
بَلۡ
Nay
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٢٩
Allāh presents an example: a man [i.e., slave] owned by quarreling partners and another belonging exclusively to one man - are they equal in comparison? Praise be to Allāh! But most of them do not know.
39:30
إِنَّكَ
Indeed, you
مَيِّتٌ
will die
وَإِنَّهُم
and indeed, they
مَّيِّتُونَ
(will also) die
٣٠
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.
39:31
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّكُمۡ
indeed you
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
عِندَ
before
رَبِّكُمۡ
your Lord
تَخۡتَصِمُونَ
will dispute
٣١
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute.
39:32
۞فَمَنۡ
Then who
أَظۡلَمُ
(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
than (one) who
كَذَبَ
lies
عَلَى
against
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَكَذَّبَ
and denies
بِٱلصِّدۡقِ
the truth
إِذۡ
when
جَآءَهُۥٓ‌ۚ
it comes to him
أَلَيۡسَ
Is (there) not
فِى
in
جَهَنَّمَ
Hell
مَثۡوًى
an abode
لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
for the disbelievers
٣٢
So who is more unjust than one who lies about Allāh and denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not in Hell a residence for the disbelievers?
39:33
وَٱلَّذِى
And the one who
جَآءَ
brought
بِٱلصِّدۡقِ
the truth
وَصَدَّقَ
and believed
بِهِۦٓ‌ۙ
in it
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
those
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ
(are) the righteous
٣٣
And the one who has brought the truth [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous.
39:34
لَهُم
For them
مَّا
(is) what
يَشَآءُونَ
they wish
عِندَ
with
رَبِّهِمۡ‌ۚ
their Lord
ذٰلِكَ
That
جَزَآءُ
(is the) reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
(of) the good-doers
٣٤
They will have whatever they desire with their Lord. That is the reward of the doers of good -
39:35
لِيُكَفِّرَ
That Allah will remove
ٱللَّهُ
That Allah will remove
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
أَسۡوَأَ
(the) worst
ٱلَّذِى
(of) what
عَمِلُواۡ
they did
وَيَجۡزِيَهُمۡ
and reward them
أَجۡرَهُم
their due
بِأَحۡسَنِ
for (the) best
ٱلَّذِى
(of) what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٣٥
That Allāh may remove from them the worst of what they did and reward them their due for the best of what they used to do.
39:36
أَلَيۡسَ
Is not
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بِكَافٍ
sufficient
عَبۡدَهُۥ‌ۖ
(for) His slave
وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ
And they threaten you
بِٱلَّذِينَ
with those
مِن
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ‌ۚ
besides Him
وَمَن
And whoever
يُضۡلِلِ
Allah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُ
Allah lets go astray
فَمَا
then not
لَهُۥ
for him
مِنۡ
any
هَادٍ
guide
٣٦
Is not Allāh sufficient for His Servant [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)]? And [yet], they threaten you with those [they worship] other than Him. And whoever Allāh leaves astray - for him there is no guide.
39:37
وَمَن
And whoever
يَهۡدِ
Allah guides
ٱللَّهُ
Allah guides
فَمَا
then not
لَهُۥ
for him
مِن
any
مُّضِلٍّ‌ۗ
misleader
أَلَيۡسَ
Is not
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بِعَزِيزٍ
All-Mighty
ذِى
All-Able of retribution
ٱنتِقَامٍ
All-Able of retribution
٣٧
And whoever Allāh guides - for him there is no misleader. Is not Allāh Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution?
39:38
وَلَئِن
And if
سَأَلۡتَهُم
you ask them
مَّنۡ
who
خَلَقَ
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّ
Surely, they will say
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
Allah
قُلۡ
Say
أَفَرَءَيۡتُم
Then do you see
مَّا
what
تَدۡعُونَ
you invoke
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
إِنۡ
if
أَرَادَنِىَ
Allah intended for me
ٱللَّهُ
Allah intended for me
بِضُرٍّ
harm
هَلۡ
are
هُنَّ
they
كَـٰشِفَـٰتُ
removers
ضُرِّهِۦٓ
(of) harm (from) Him
أَوۡ
or
أَرَادَنِى
if He intended for me
بِرَحۡمَةٍ
mercy
هَلۡ
are
هُنَّ
they
مُمۡسِكَـٰتُ
withholders
رَحۡمَتِهِۦ‌ۚ
(of) His mercy
قُلۡ
Say
حَسۡبِىَ
Sufficient (is) Allah for me
ٱللَّهُ‌ۖ
Sufficient (is) Allah for me
عَلَيۡهِ
upon Him
يَتَوَكَّلُ
put trust
ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
those who trust
٣٨
And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "Then have you considered1 what you invoke besides Allāh? If Allāh intended me harm, are they removers of His harm; or if He intended me mercy, are they withholders of His mercy?" Say, "Sufficient for me is Allāh; upon Him [alone] rely the [wise] reliers."
39:39
قُلۡ
Say
يَـٰقَوۡمِ
O my people
ٱعۡمَلُواۡ
Work
عَلَىٰ
(according) to
مَكَانَتِكُمۡ
your position
إِنِّى
indeed, I am
عَـٰمِلٌ‌ۖ
working
فَسَوۡفَ
then soon
تَعۡلَمُونَ
you will know
٣٩
Say, "O my people, work according to your position, [for] indeed, I am working; and you are going to know
39:40
مَن
(Upon) whom
يَأۡتِيهِ
will come
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
يُخۡزِيهِ
disgracing him
وَيَحِلُّ
and descends
عَلَيۡهِ
on him
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
مُّقِيمٌ
everlasting
٤٠
To whom will come a torment disgracing him and on whom will descend an enduring punishment."
39:41
إِنَّآ
Indeed We
أَنزَلۡنَا
We revealed
عَلَيۡكَ
to you
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
لِلنَّاسِ
for [the] mankind
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۖ
in truth
فَمَنِ
So whoever
ٱهۡتَدَىٰ
accepts guidance
فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦ‌ۖ
then (it is) for his soul
وَمَن
and whoever
ضَلَّ
goes astray
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
يَضِلُّ
he strays
عَلَيۡهَا‌ۖ
against his (soul)
وَمَآ
And not
أَنتَ
you
عَلَيۡهِم
(are) over them
بِوَكِيلٍ
a manager
٤١
Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided - it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager [i.e., authority] over them.
39:42
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
يَتَوَفَّى
takes
ٱلۡأَنفُسَ
the souls
حِينَ
(at the) time
مَوۡتِهَا
(of) their death
وَٱلَّتِى
and the one who
لَمۡ
(does) not
تَمُتۡ
die
فِى
in
مَنَامِهَا‌ۖ
their sleep
فَيُمۡسِكُ
Then He keeps
ٱلَّتِى
the one whom
قَضَىٰ
He has decreed
عَلَيۡهَا
for them
ٱلۡمَوۡتَ
the death
وَيُرۡسِلُ
and sends
ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ
the others
إِلَىٰٓ
for
أَجَلٍ
a term
مُّسَمًّى‌ۚ
specified
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَـٰتٍ
surely (are) signs
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who ponder
٤٢
Allāh takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
39:43
أَمِ
Or
ٱتَّخَذُواۡ
have they taken
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
شُفَعَآءَ‌ۚ
intercessors
قُلۡ
Say
أَوَلَوۡ
Even though
كَانُواۡ
they were
لَا
not
يَمۡلِكُونَ
possessing
شَيۡــًٔا
anything
وَلَا
and not
يَعۡقِلُونَ
they understand
٤٣
Or have they taken other than Allāh as intercessors? Say, "Even though they do not possess [power over] anything, nor do they reason?"
39:44
قُل
Say
لِّلَّهِ
To Allah (belongs)
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ
the intercession
جَمِيعًا‌ۖ
all
لَّهُۥ
For Him
مُلۡكُ
(is the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۖ
and the earth
ثُمَّ
Then
إِلَيۡهِ
to Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
you will be returned
٤٤
Say, "To Allāh belongs [the right to allow] intercession entirely. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned."
39:45
وَإِذَا
And when
ذُكِرَ
Allah is mentioned
ٱللَّهُ
Allah is mentioned
وَحۡدَهُ
Alone
ٱشۡمَأَزَّتۡ
shrink with aversion
قُلُوبُ
(the) hearts
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ‌ۖ
in the Hereafter
وَإِذَا
and when
ذُكِرَ
are mentioned
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
مِن
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
إِذَا
behold
هُمۡ
They
يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ
rejoice
٤٥
And when Allāh is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.
39:46
قُلِ
Say
ٱللَّهُمَّ
O Allah
فَاطِرَ
Creator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
عَـٰلِمَ
Knower
ٱلۡغَيۡبِ
(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ
and the witnessed
أَنتَ
You
تَحۡكُمُ
will judge
بَيۡنَ
between
عِبَادِكَ
Your slaves
فِى
in
مَا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
فِيهِ
therein
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
differ
٤٦
Say, "O Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ."
39:47
وَلَوۡ
And if
أَنَّ
And if
لِلَّذِينَ
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
did wrong
مَا
(had) whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
جَمِيعًا
all
وَمِثۡلَهُۥ
and (the) like of it
مَعَهُۥ
with it
لَٱفۡتَدَوۡاۡ
they would ransom
بِهِۦ
with it
مِن
from
سُوٓءِ
(the) evil
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
(of) the punishment
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ‌ۚ
(of) the Resurrection
وَبَدَا
And (will) appear
لَهُم
to them
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَا
what
لَمۡ
not
يَكُونُواۡ
they had
يَحۡتَسِبُونَ
taken into account
٤٧
And if those who did wrong had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from Allāh that which they had not taken into account.1
39:48
وَبَدَا
And will become apparent
لَهُمۡ
to them
سَيِّـَٔـاتُ
(the) evils
مَا
(of) what
كَسَبُواۡ
they earned
وَحَاقَ
and will surround
بِهِم
them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
بِهِۦ
[in it]
يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
mock
٤٨
And there will appear to them the evils they had earned, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
39:49
فَإِذَا
So when
مَسَّ
touches
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
[the] man
ضُرٌّ
adversity
دَعَانَا
he calls upon Us
ثُمَّ
then
إِذَا
when
خَوَّلۡنَـٰهُ
We bestow (on) him
نِعۡمَةً
a favor
مِّنَّا
from Us
قَالَ
he says
إِنَّمَآ
Only
أُوتِيتُهُۥ
I have been given it
عَلَىٰ
for
عِلۡمِۭ‌ۚ
knowledge
بَلۡ
Nay
هِىَ
it
فِتۡنَةٌ
(is) a trial
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
but
أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٤٩
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon Us; then when We bestow on him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of [my] knowledge." Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.
39:50
قَدۡ
Indeed
قَالَهَا
said it
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
مِن
before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡ
before them
فَمَآ
but (did) not
أَغۡنَىٰ
avail
عَنۡهُم
them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَكۡسِبُونَ
earn
٥٠
Those before them had already said it, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.
39:51
فَأَصَابَهُمۡ
Then struck them
سَيِّـَٔـاتُ
(the) evils
مَا
(of) what
كَسَبُواۡ‌ۚ
they earned
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
have wronged
مِنۡ
of
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
سَيُصِيبُهُمۡ
will strike them
سَيِّـَٔـاتُ
(the) evils
مَا
(of) what
كَسَبُواۡ
they earned
وَمَا
and not
هُم
they
بِمُعۡجِزِينَ
will be able to escape
٥١
And the evil consequences of what they earned struck them. And those who have wronged of these [people] will be struck [i.e., afflicted] by the evil consequences of what they earned; and they will not cause failure.1
39:52
أَوَلَمۡ
Do not
يَعۡلَمُوٓاۡ
they know
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَبۡسُطُ
extends
ٱلرِّزۡقَ

لِمَن
for whom
يَشَآءُ

إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَـٰتٍ
surely (are) signs
لِّقَوۡمٍ

٥٢
Do they not know that Allāh extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
39:53
۞قُلۡ

Indeed He
هُوَ

ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
٥٣
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins.1 Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
39:54
وَأَنِيبُوٓاۡ

٥٤
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
39:55

٥٥
And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,

٦٠
And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allāh [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant?
39:61
وَيُنَجِّى

وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۗ
and the earth
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
in (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
those
هُمُ
they
ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ
(are) the losers
٦٣
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allāh - it is those who are the losers.
39:64
قُلۡ
Say
أَفَغَيۡرَ
Is (it) other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
تَأۡمُرُوٓنِّىٓ
you order me
أَعۡبُدُ
(to) worship
أَيُّهَا
O
ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ
ignorant ones
٦٤
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Is it other than Allāh that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?"
39:65
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
أُوحِىَ
it has been revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
وَإِلَى
and to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن
(were) before you
قَبۡلِكَ
(were) before you
لَئِنۡ
if
أَشۡرَكۡتَ
you associate (with Allah)
لَيَحۡبَطَنَّ
surely, will become worthless
عَمَلُكَ
your deeds
وَلَتَكُونَنَّ
and you will surely be
مِنَ
among
ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِينَ
the losers
٦٥
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allāh, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers.
39:66
بَلِ
Nay
ٱللَّهَ
But worship Allah
فَٱعۡبُدۡ
But worship Allah
وَكُن
and be
مِّنَ
among
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
the thankful ones
٦٦
Rather, worship [only] Allāh and be among the grateful.
39:67
وَمَا
And not
قَدَرُواۡ
they appraised
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
حَقَّ
(with) true
قَدۡرِهِۦ
appraisal
وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ
while the earth
جَمِيعًا
entirely
قَبۡضَتُهُۥ
(will be) in His Grip
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
وَٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتُ
and the heavens
مَطۡوِيَّـٰتُۢ
(will be) folded
بِيَمِينِهِۦ‌ۚ
in His Right Hand
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ
Glory be to Him
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
And High is He
عَمَّا
above what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
they associate (with Him)
٦٧
They have not appraised Allāh with true appraisal,1 while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip2 on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand.3 Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
39:68
وَنُفِخَ
And (will) be blown
فِى
[in]
ٱلصُّورِ
the trumpet
فَصَعِقَ
then (will) fall dead
مَن
whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَمَن
and whoever
فِى
(is) on
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
إِلَّا
except
مَن
whom
شَآءَ
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ‌ۖ
Allah wills
ثُمَّ
Then
نُفِخَ
(it will) be blown
فِيهِ
[in it]
أُخۡرَىٰ
a second time
فَإِذَا
and behold
هُمۡ
They
قِيَامٌ
(will be) standing
يَنظُرُونَ
waiting
٦٨
And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allāh wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on.
39:69
وَأَشۡرَقَتِ
And (will) shine
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
the earth
بِنُورِ
with (the) light
رَبِّهَا
(of) its Lord
وَوُضِعَ
and (will) be placed
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبُ
the Record
وَجِاۡىٓءَ
and (will) be brought
بِٱلنَّبِيِّــۧنَ
the Prophets
وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ
and the witnesses
وَقُضِىَ
and it (will) be judged
بَيۡنَهُم
between them
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
will not be wronged
يُظۡلَمُونَ
will not be wronged
٦٩
And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and the record [of deeds] will be placed, and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought, and it will be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged.
39:70
وَوُفِّيَتۡ
And (will) be paid in full
كُلُّ
every
نَفۡسٍ
soul
مَّا
what
عَمِلَتۡ
it did
وَهُوَ
and He
أَعۡلَمُ
(is the) Best-Knower
بِمَا
of what
يَفۡعَلُونَ
they do
٧٠
And every soul will be fully compensated [for] what it did; and He is most knowing1 of what they do.
39:71
وَسِيقَ
And (will) be driven
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوٓاۡ
disbelieve
إِلَىٰ
to
جَهَنَّمَ
Hell
زُمَرًا‌ۖ
(in) groups
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
جَآءُوهَا
they reach it
فُتِحَتۡ
(will) be opened
أَبۡوٰبُهَا
its gates
وَقَالَ
and (will) say
لَهُمۡ
to them
خَزَنَتُهَآ
its keepers
أَلَمۡ
Did not
يَأۡتِكُمۡ
come to you
رُسُلٌ
Messengers
مِّنكُمۡ
from you
يَتۡلُونَ
reciting
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
to you
ءَايَـٰتِ
(the) Verses
رَبِّكُمۡ
(of) your Lord
وَيُنذِرُونَكُمۡ
and warning you
لِقَآءَ
(of the) meeting
يَوۡمِكُمۡ
(of) your Day
هَـٰذَا‌ۚ
this
قَالُواۡ
They (will) say
بَلَىٰ
Yes
وَلَـٰكِنۡ
But
حَقَّتۡ
has been justified
كَلِمَةُ
(the) word
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
(of) punishment
عَلَى
against
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
٧١
And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word [i.e., decree] of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers."
39:72
قِيلَ
It will be said
ٱدۡخُلُوٓاۡ
Enter
أَبۡوٰبَ
(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَ
(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَ
(to) abide eternally
فِيهَا‌ۖ
therein
فَبِئۡسَ
and wretched is
مَثۡوَى
(the) abode
ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
(of) the arrogant
٧٢
[To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."
39:73
وَسِيقَ
And (will) be driven
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱتَّقَوۡاۡ
feared
رَبَّهُمۡ
their Lord
إِلَى
to
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
Paradise
زُمَرًا‌ۖ
(in) groups
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
جَآءُوهَا
they reach it
وَفُتِحَتۡ
and (will) be opened
أَبۡوٰبُهَا
its gates
وَقَالَ
and (will) say
لَهُمۡ
to them
خَزَنَتُهَا
its keepers
سَلَـٰمٌ
Peace be
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
upon you
طِبۡتُمۡ
you have done well
فَٱدۡخُلُوهَا
so enter it
خَـٰلِدِينَ
(to) abide eternally
٧٣
But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter].1
39:74
وَقَالُواۡ
And they will say
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise
لِلَّهِ
(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِى
Who
صَدَقَنَا
has fulfilled for us
وَعۡدَهُۥ
His promise
وَأَوۡرَثَنَا
and has made us inherit
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
the earth
نَتَبَوَّأُ
we may settle
مِنَ
[from]
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
(in) Paradise
حَيۡثُ
wherever
نَشَآءُ‌ۖ
we wish
فَنِعۡمَ
So excellent
أَجۡرُ
(is the) reward
ٱلۡعَـٰمِلِينَ
(of) the workers
٧٤
And they will say, "Praise to Allāh, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of [righteous] workers."
39:75
وَتَرَى
And you will see
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
the Angels
حَآفِّينَ
surrounding
مِنۡ
[from]
حَوۡلِ
around
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
the Throne
يُسَبِّحُونَ
glorifying
بِحَمۡدِ
(the) praise
رَبِّهِمۡ‌ۖ
(of) their Lord
وَقُضِىَ
And (will) be judged
بَيۡنَهُم
between them
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَقِيلَ
and it will be said
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise be
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
رَبِّ
(the) Lord
ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds
٧٥
And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, exalting [Allāh] with praise of their Lord. And it will be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, "[All] praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds."
