The Bee128 Verses1 Hadithsmakkah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

16:1
أَتَىٰٓ
Will come
أَمۡرُ
(the) command of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) command of Allah
فَلَا
so (do) not
تَسۡتَعۡجِلُوهُ‌ۚ
(be) impatient for it
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ
Glorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
and Exalted (is) He
عَمَّا
above what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
they associate
١
The command of Allāh is coming,1 so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
16:2
يُنَزِّلُ
He sends down
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
the Angels
بِٱلرُّوحِ
with the inspiration
مِنۡ
of
أَمۡرِهِۦ
His Command
عَلَىٰ
upon
مَن
whom
يَشَآءُ
He wills
مِنۡ
of
عِبَادِهِۦٓ
His slaves
أَنۡ
that
أَنذِرُوٓاۡ
Warn
أَنَّهُۥ
that [He]
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
god
إِلَّآ
except
أَنَاۡ
Me
فَٱتَّقُونِ
so fear Me
٢
He sends down the angels, with the inspiration [i.e., revelation] of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."
16:3
خَلَقَ
He created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۚ
in truth
تَعَـٰلَىٰ
Exalted is He
عَمَّا
above what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
they associate
٣
He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.
16:4
خَلَقَ
He created
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
the human kind
مِن
from
نُّطۡفَةٍ
a minute quantity of semen
فَإِذَا
then behold
هُوَ
he
خَصِيمٌ
(is) an opponent
مُّبِينٌ
clear
٤
He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once1 he is a clear adversary.
16:5
وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمَ
And the cattle
خَلَقَهَا‌ۗ
He created them
لَكُمۡ
for you
فِيهَا
in them
دِفۡءٌ
(is) warmth
وَمَنَـٰفِعُ
and benefits
وَمِنۡهَا
and from them
تَأۡكُلُونَ
you eat
٥
And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth1 and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.
16:6
وَلَكُمۡ
And for you
فِيهَا
in them
جَمَالٌ
(is) beauty
حِينَ
when
تُرِيحُونَ
you bring them in
وَحِينَ
and when
تَسۡرَحُونَ
you take them out
٦
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].
16:7
وَتَحۡمِلُ
And they carry
أَثۡقَالَكُمۡ
your loads
إِلَىٰ
to
بَلَدٍ
a land
لَّمۡ
not
تَكُونُواۡ
you could
بَـٰلِغِيهِ
reach it
إِلَّا
except
بِشِقِّ
with great trouble
ٱلۡأَنفُسِ‌ۚ
(to) yourselves
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّكُمۡ
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌ
surely is Most Kind
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
٧
And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
16:8
وَٱلۡخَيۡلَ
And horses
وَٱلۡبِغَالَ
and mules
وَٱلۡحَمِيرَ
and donkeys
لِتَرۡكَبُوهَا
for you to ride them
وَزِينَةً‌ۚ
and (as) adornment
وَيَخۡلُقُ
And He creates
مَا
what
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
you know
٨
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.
16:9
وَعَلَى
And upon
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
قَصۡدُ
(is) the direction
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
(of) the way
وَمِنۡهَا
and among them
جَآئِرٌ‌ۚ
(are) crooked
وَلَوۡ
And if
شَآءَ
He willed
لَهَدَٮٰكُمۡ
surely He would have guided you
أَجۡمَعِينَ
all
٩
And upon Allāh1 is the direction of the [right] way, and among them [i.e., the various paths] are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
16:10
هُوَ
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَ
sends down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءً‌ۖ
water
لَّكُم
for you
مِّنۡهُ
of it
شَرَابٌ
(is) drink
وَمِنۡهُ
and from it
شَجَرٌ
(grows) vegetation
فِيهِ
in which
تُسِيمُونَ
you pasture your cattle
١٠
It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].
16:11
يُنۢبِتُ
He causes to grow
لَكُم
for you
بِهِ
with it
ٱلزَّرۡعَ
the crops
وَٱلزَّيۡتُونَ
and the olives
وَٱلنَّخِيلَ
and the date-palms
وَٱلۡأَعۡنَـٰبَ
and the grapes
وَمِن
and of
كُلِّ
every kind
ٱلثَّمَرٰتِ‌ۗ
(of) fruits
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَةً
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who reflect
١١
He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and of all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
16:12
وَسَخَّرَ
And He has subjected
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلَّيۡلَ
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
and the day
وَٱلشَّمۡسَ
and the sun
وَٱلۡقَمَرَ‌ۖ
and the moon
وَٱلنُّجُومُ
and the stars
مُسَخَّرٰتُۢ
(are) subjected
بِأَمۡرِهِۦٓ‌ۗ
by His command
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَـٰتٍ
surely (are) signs
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَعۡقِلُونَ
who use reason
١٢
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
16:13
وَمَا
And whatever
ذَرَأَ
He multiplied
لَكُمۡ
for you
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
مُخۡتَلِفًا
(of) varying
أَلۡوٰنُهُۥٓ‌ۗ
colors
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَةً
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَذَّكَّرُونَ
who remember
١٣
And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.
16:14
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
سَخَّرَ
subjected
ٱلۡبَحۡرَ
the sea
لِتَأۡكُلُواۡ
for you to eat
مِنۡهُ
from it
لَحۡمًا
meat
طَرِيًّا
fresh
وَتَسۡتَخۡرِجُواۡ
and that you bring forth
مِنۡهُ
from it
حِلۡيَةً
ornaments
تَلۡبَسُونَهَا
(that) you wear them
وَتَرَى
And you see
ٱلۡفُلۡكَ
the ships
مَوَاخِرَ
ploughing
فِيهِ
through it
وَلِتَبۡتَغُواۡ
and that you may seek
مِن
of
فَضۡلِهِۦ
His Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ
and that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
(be) grateful
١٤
And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
16:15
وَأَلۡقَىٰ
And He has cast
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
رَوٰسِىَ
firm mountains
أَن
lest
تَمِيدَ
it should shake
بِكُمۡ
with you
وَأَنۡهَـٰرًا
and rivers
وَسُبُلاً
and roads
لَّعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَهۡتَدُونَ
be guided
١٥
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,
16:16
وَعَلَـٰمَـٰتٍ‌ۚ
And landmarks
وَبِٱلنَّجۡمِ
And by the stars
هُمۡ
they
يَهۡتَدُونَ
guide themselves
١٦
And landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.1
16:17
أَفَمَن
Then is He Who
يَخۡلُقُ
creates
كَمَن
like one who
لَّا
(does) not
يَخۡلُقُ‌ۗ
create
أَفَلَا
Then will you not
تَذَكَّرُونَ
remember
١٧
Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?
16:18
وَإِن
And if
تَعُدُّواۡ
you should count
نِعۡمَةَ
the Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
the Favors of Allah
لَا
not
تُحۡصُوهَآ‌ۗ
you could enumerate them
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَغَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
١٨
And if you should count the favors of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:19
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
تُسِرُّونَ
you conceal
وَمَا
and what
تُعۡلِنُونَ
you reveal
١٩
And Allāh knows what you conceal and what you declare.
16:20
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those whom
يَدۡعُونَ
they invoke
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
لَا
not
يَخۡلُقُونَ
they create
شَيۡــًٔا
anything
وَهُمۡ
but (are) themselves
يُخۡلَقُونَ
created
٢٠
And those they invoke other than Allāh create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.
16:21
أَمۡوٰتٌ
(They are) dead
غَيۡرُ
not alive
أَحۡيَآءٍ‌ۖ
not alive
وَمَا
And not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
they perceive
أَيَّانَ
when
يُبۡعَثُونَ
they will be resurrected
٢١
They are [in fact] dead,1 not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
16:22
إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ
Your god
إِلَـٰهٌ
(is) God
وٰحِدٌ‌ۚ
One
فَٱلَّذِينَ
But those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
قُلُوبُهُم
their hearts
مُّنكِرَةٌ
refuse
وَهُم
and they
مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
(are) arrogant
٢٢
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.
16:23
لَا
No doubt
جَرَمَ
No doubt
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
يُسِرُّونَ
they conceal
وَمَا
and what
يُعۡلِنُونَ‌ۚ
they reveal
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
لَا
(does) not
يُحِبُّ
love
ٱلۡمُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ
the arrogant ones
٢٣
Assuredly, Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.
16:24
وَإِذَا
And when
قِيلَ
it is said
لَهُم
to them
مَّاذَآ
What
أَنزَلَ
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمۡ‌ۙ
has your Lord sent down
قَالُوٓاۡ
They say
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
Tales
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the ancient
٢٤
And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the former peoples,"
16:25
لِيَحۡمِلُوٓاۡ
That they may bear
أَوۡزَارَهُمۡ
their own burdens
كَامِلَةً
(in) full
يَوۡمَ
on (the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ‌ۙ
(of) the Resurrection
وَمِنۡ
and of
أَوۡزَارِ
the burdens
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those whom
يُضِلُّونَهُم
they misled [them]
بِغَيۡرِ
without
عِلۡمٍ‌ۗ
knowledge
أَلَا
Unquestionably
سَآءَ
evil
مَا
(is) what
يَزِرُونَ
they will bear
٢٥
That they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.
16:26
قَدۡ
Verily
مَكَرَ
plotted
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡ
(were) before them
فَأَتَى
but Allah came
ٱللَّهُ
but Allah came
بُنۡيَـٰنَهُم
(at) their building
مِّنَ
from
ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ
the foundations
فَخَرَّ
so fell
عَلَيۡهِمُ
upon them
ٱلسَّقۡفُ
the roof
مِن
from
فَوۡقِهِمۡ
above them
وَأَتَـٰهُمُ
and came to them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
the punishment
مِنۡ
from
حَيۡثُ
where
لَا
they (did) not perceive
يَشۡعُرُونَ
they (did) not perceive
٢٦
Those before them had already plotted, but Allāh came at [i.e., uprooted] their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them,1 and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.
16:27
ثُمَّ
Then
يَوۡمَ
(on) the Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
يُخۡزِيهِمۡ
He will disgrace them
وَيَقُولُ
and say
أَيۡنَ
Where
شُرَكَآءِىَ
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
those (for) whom
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تُشَـٰٓقُّونَ
oppose
فِيهِمۡ‌ۚ
[in them]
قَالَ
Will say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أُوتُواۡ
were given
ٱلۡعِلۡمَ
the knowledge
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلۡخِزۡىَ
the disgrace
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
this Day
وَٱلسُّوٓءَ
and evil
عَلَى
(are) upon
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
٢٧
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -
16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّـٰهُمُ
take them in death
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
ظَالِمِىٓ
(while) wronging
أَنفُسِهِمۡ‌ۖ
themselves
فَأَلۡقَوُاۡ
then they would offer
ٱلسَّلَمَ
the submission
مَا
Not
كُنَّا
we were
نَعۡمَلُ
doing
مِن
any
سُوٓءِۭ‌ۚ
evil
بَلَىٰٓ
Nay
إِنَّ
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
(is) All-Knower
بِمَا
of what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٢٨
The ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves,1 and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what you used to do.
16:29
فَٱدۡخُلُوٓاۡ
So enter
أَبۡوٰبَ
(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَ
(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَ
(to) abide forever
فِيهَا‌ۖ
in it
فَلَبِئۡسَ
Surely, wretched
مَثۡوَى
(is the) abode
ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
(of) the arrogant
٢٩
So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.
16:30
۞وَقِيلَ
And it will be said
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
ٱتَّقَوۡاۡ
fear Allah
مَاذَآ
What
أَنزَلَ
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمۡ‌ۚ
has your Lord sent down
قَالُواۡ
They will say
خَيۡرًا‌ۗ
Good
لِّلَّذِينَ
For those who
أَحۡسَنُواۡ
do good
فِى
in
هَـٰذِهِ
this
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
world
حَسَنَةٌ‌ۚ
(is) a good
وَلَدَارُ
and the home
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
of the Hereafter
خَيۡرٌ‌ۚ
(is) better
وَلَنِعۡمَ
And surely excellent
دَارُ
(is) the home
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
(of) the righteous
٣٠
And it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
16:31
جَنَّـٰتُ
Gardens
عَدۡنٍ
(of) Eden
يَدۡخُلُونَهَا
which they will enter
تَجۡرِى
flows
مِن
from
تَحۡتِهَا
underneath them
ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ‌ۖ
the rivers
لَهُمۡ
For them
فِيهَا
therein
مَا
(will be) whatever
يَشَآءُونَ‌ۚ
they wish
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
يَجۡزِى
Allah rewards
ٱللَّهُ
Allah rewards
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
the righteous
٣١
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -
16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّـٰهُمُ
take them in death
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
طَيِّبِينَ‌ۙ
(when they are) pure
يَقُولُونَ
saying
سَلَـٰمٌ
Peace
عَلَيۡكُمُ
(be) upon you
ٱدۡخُلُواۡ
Enter
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
Paradise
بِمَا
for what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٣٢
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."
16:33
هَلۡ
Do
يَنظُرُونَ
they wait
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
تَأۡتِيَهُمُ
(should) come to them
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
أَوۡ
or
يَأۡتِىَ
(should) come
أَمۡرُ
(the) Command
رَبِّكَ‌ۚ
(of) your Lord
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
فَعَلَ
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ
(were) before them
وَمَا
And not
ظَلَمَهُمُ
wronged them
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
وَلَـٰكِن
but
كَانُوٓاۡ
they were
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
themselves
يَظۡلِمُونَ
wronging
٣٣
Do they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allāh wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.
16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمۡ
Then struck them
سَيِّـَٔـاتُ
(the) evil (results)
مَا
(of) what
عَمِلُواۡ
they did
وَحَاقَ
and surrounded
بِهِم
them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
بِهِۦ
[of it]
يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
mock
٣٤
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
16:35
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أَشۡرَكُواۡ
associate partners (with Allah)
لَوۡ
If
شَآءَ
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (had) willed
مَا
not
عَبَدۡنَا
we (would) have worshipped
مِن
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
other than Him
مِن
any
شَىۡءٍ
thing
نَّحۡنُ
we
وَلَآ
and not
ءَابَآؤُنَا
our forefathers
وَلَا
and not
حَرَّمۡنَا
we (would) have forbidden
مِن
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
other than Him
مِن
anything
شَىۡءٍ‌ۚ
anything
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
فَعَلَ
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ
(were) before them
فَهَلۡ
Then is (there)
عَلَى
on
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the messengers
إِلَّا
except
ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ
the conveyance
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
clear
٣٥
And those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?
16:36
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
بَعَثۡنَا
We sent
فِى
into
كُلِّ
every
أُمَّةٍ
nation
رَّسُولاً
a Messenger
أَنِ
that
ٱعۡبُدُواۡ
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَٱجۡتَنِبُواۡ
and avoid
ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ‌ۖ
the false deities
فَمِنۡهُم
Then among them
مَّنۡ
(were some) whom
هَدَى
Allah guided
ٱللَّهُ
Allah guided
وَمِنۡهُم
and among them
مَّنۡ
(were) some
حَقَّتۡ
was justified
عَلَيۡهِ
on them
ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُ‌ۚ
the straying
فَسِيرُواۡ
So travel
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
فَٱنظُرُواۡ
and see
كَيۡفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ
the end
ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
(of) the deniers
٣٦
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt."1 And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
16:37
إِن
If
تَحۡرِصۡ
you desire
عَلَىٰ
[for]
هُدَٮٰهُمۡ
their guidance
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(will) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
مَن
whom
يُضِلُّ‌ۖ
He lets go astray
وَمَا
and not (are)
لَهُم
for them
مِّن
any
نَّـٰصِرِينَ
helpers
٣٧
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray,1 and they will have no helpers.
16:38
وَأَقۡسَمُواۡ
And they swear
بِٱللَّهِ
by Allah
جَهۡدَ
strongest
أَيۡمَـٰنِهِمۡ‌ۙ
(of) their oaths
لَا
Allah will not resurrect
يَبۡعَثُ
Allah will not resurrect
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will not resurrect
مَن
(one) who
يَمُوتُ‌ۚ
dies
بَلَىٰ
Nay
وَعۡدًا
(it is) a promise
عَلَيۡهِ
upon Him
حَقًّا
(in) truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
but
أَكۡثَرَ
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the mankind
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٣٨
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ
That He will make clear
لَهُمُ
to them
ٱلَّذِى
that
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
they differ
فِيهِ
wherein
وَلِيَعۡلَمَ
and that may know
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوٓاۡ
disbelieved
أَنَّهُمۡ
that they
كَانُواۡ
were
كَـٰذِبِينَ
liars
٣٩
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
16:40
إِنَّمَا
Only
قَوۡلُنَا
Our Word
لِشَىۡءٍ
to a thing
إِذَآ
when
أَرَدۡنَـٰهُ
We intend it
أَن
(is) that
نَّقُولَ
We say
لَهُۥ
to it
كُن
Be
فَيَكُونُ
and it is
٤٠
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
16:41
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
هَاجَرُواۡ
emigrated
فِى
in (the way)
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
مَا
[what]
ظُلِمُواۡ
they were wronged
لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمۡ
surely We will give them position
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
the world
حَسَنَةً‌ۖ
good
وَلَأَجۡرُ
but surely the reward
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
(of) the Hereafter
أَكۡبَرُ‌ۚ
(is) greater
لَوۡ
if
كَانُواۡ
they
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٤١
And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allāh after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.
16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
صَبَرُواۡ
(are) patient
وَعَلَىٰ
and on
رَبِّهِمۡ
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
they put their trust
٤٢
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.
16:43
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
مِن
before you
قَبۡلِكَ
before you
إِلَّا
except
رِجَالاً
men
نُّوحِىٓ
We revealed
إِلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ
to them
فَسۡــَٔلُوٓاۡ
so ask
أَهۡلَ
(the) people
ٱلذِّكۡرِ
(of) the Reminder
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you
لَا
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٤٣
And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
16:44
بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ
With the clear proofs
وَٱلزُّبُرِ‌ۗ
and the Books
وَأَنزَلۡنَآ
And We sent down
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
ٱلذِّكۡرَ
the Remembrance
لِتُبَيِّنَ
that you may make clear
لِلنَّاسِ
to the mankind
مَا
what
نُزِّلَ
has been sent down
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
to them
وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ
and that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
reflect
٤٤
[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message [i.e., the Qur’ān] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ
Do then feel secure
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مَكَرُواۡ
plotted
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔـاتِ
the evil deeds
أَن
that
يَخۡسِفَ
Allah will cave
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will cave
بِهِمُ
with them
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
the earth
أَوۡ
or
يَأۡتِيَهُمُ
will come to them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
the punishment
مِنۡ
from
حَيۡثُ
where
لَا
not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
they perceive
٤٥
Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?
16:46
أَوۡ
Or
يَأۡخُذَهُمۡ
that He may seize them
فِى
in
تَقَلُّبِهِمۡ
their going to and fro
فَمَا
then not
هُم
they
بِمُعۡجِزِينَ
will be able to escape
٤٦
Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure [i.e., escape from Him]?
16:47
أَوۡ
Or
يَأۡخُذَهُمۡ
that He may seize them
عَلَىٰ
with
تَخَوُّفٍ
a gradual wasting
فَإِنَّ
But indeed
رَبَّكُمۡ
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌ
(is) surely Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
٤٧
Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]?1 But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.2
16:48
أَوَلَمۡ
Have not
يَرَوۡاۡ
they seen
إِلَىٰ
[towards]
مَا
what
خَلَقَ
Allah has created
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has created
مِن
from
شَىۡءٍ
a thing
يَتَفَيَّؤُاۡ
Incline
ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ
their shadows
عَنِ
to
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
the right
وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ
and to the left
سُجَّدًا
prostrating
لِّلَّهِ
to Allah
وَهُمۡ
while they
دٰخِرُونَ
(are) humble
٤٨
Have they not considered what things Allāh has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allāh, while they [i.e., those creations] are humble.
16:49
وَلِلَّهِ
And to Allah
يَسۡجُدُ
prostrate
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَمَا
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
مِن
of
دَآبَّةٍ
moving creatures
وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
and the Angels
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
(are) not
يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
arrogant
٤٩
And to Allāh prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.
16:50
يَخَافُونَ
They fear
رَبَّهُم
their Lord
مِّن
above them
فَوۡقِهِمۡ
above them
وَيَفۡعَلُونَ
and they do
مَا
what
يُؤۡمَرُونَ
they are commanded
۩
They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.
16:51
۞وَقَالَ
And Allah has said
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah has said
لَا
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓاۡ
take
إِلَـٰهَيۡنِ
[two] gods
ٱثۡنَيۡنِ‌ۖ
two
إِنَّمَا
only
هُوَ
He
إِلَـٰهٌ
(is) God
وٰحِدٌ‌ۖ
One
فَإِيَّـٰىَ
so Me Alone
فَٱرۡهَبُونِ
you fear [Me]
٥١
And Allāh has said, "Do not take for yourselves two1 deities. He [i.e., Allāh] is but one God, so fear only Me."
16:52
وَلَهُۥ
And to Him (belongs)
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
وَلَهُ
and to Him
ٱلدِّينُ
(is due) the worship
وَاصِبًا‌ۚ
constantly
أَفَغَيۡرَ
Then is it other (than)
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
تَتَّقُونَ
you fear
٥٢
And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allāh that you fear?
16:53
وَمَا
And whatever
بِكُم
you have
مِّن
of
نِّعۡمَةٍ
favor
فَمِنَ
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ
Allah
ثُمَّ
Then
إِذَا
when
مَسَّكُمُ
touches you
ٱلضُّرُّ
the adversity
فَإِلَيۡهِ
then to Him
تَجۡــَٔرُونَ
you cry for help
٥٣
And whatever you have of favor - it is from Allāh. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.
16:54
ثُمَّ
Then
إِذَا
when
كَشَفَ
He removes
ٱلضُّرَّ
the adversity
عَنكُمۡ
from you
إِذَا
behold
فَرِيقٌ
A group
مِّنكُم
of you
بِرَبِّهِمۡ
with their Lord
يُشۡرِكُونَ
associate others
٥٤
Then when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord
16:55
لِيَكۡفُرُواۡ
So as to deny
بِمَآ
that which
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰهُمۡ‌ۚ
We have given them
فَتَمَتَّعُواۡ‌ۖ
Then enjoy yourselves
فَسَوۡفَ
soon
تَعۡلَمُونَ
you will know
٥٥
So they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.
16:56
وَيَجۡعَلُونَ
And they assign
لِمَا
to what
لَا
not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
they know
نَصِيبًا
a portion
مِّمَّا
of what
رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ‌ۗ
We have provided them
تَٱللَّهِ
By Allah
لَتُسۡــَٔلُنَّ
surely you will be asked
عَمَّا
about what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَفۡتَرُونَ
invent
٥٦
And they assign to what they do not know1 [i.e., false deities] a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allāh, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
16:57
وَيَجۡعَلُونَ
And they assign
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
ٱلۡبَنَـٰتِ
daughters
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ‌ۙ
Glory be to Him
وَلَهُم
And for them
مَّا
(is) what
يَشۡتَهُونَ
they desire
٥٧
And they attribute to Allāh daughters1 - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons].
16:58
وَإِذَا
And when
بُشِّرَ
is given good news
أَحَدُهُم
(to) one of them
بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰ
of a female
ظَلَّ
turns
وَجۡهُهُۥ
his face
مُسۡوَدًّا
dark
وَهُوَ
and he
كَظِيمٌ
suppresses grief
٥٨
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
16:59
يَتَوٰرَىٰ
He hides himself
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
the people
مِن
(because) of
سُوٓءِ
the evil
مَا
of what
بُشِّرَ
he has been given good news
بِهِۦٓ‌ۚ
about
أَيُمۡسِكُهُۥ
Should he keep it
عَلَىٰ
in
هُونٍ
humiliation
أَمۡ
or
يَدُسُّهُۥ
bury it
فِى
in
ٱلتُّرَابِ‌ۗ
the dust
أَلَا
Unquestionably
سَآءَ
evil
مَا
(is) what
يَحۡكُمُونَ
they decide
٥٩
He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
16:60
لِلَّذِينَ
For those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
مَثَلُ
(is) a similitude
ٱلسَّوۡءِ‌ۖ
(of) the evil
وَلِلَّهِ
and for Allah
ٱلۡمَثَلُ
(is) the similitude
ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ‌ۚ
the Highest
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
All-Wise
٦٠
For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description [i.e., an attribute] of evil;1 and for Allāh is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.
16:61
وَلَوۡ
And if
يُؤَاخِذُ
Allah were to seize
ٱللَّهُ
Allah were to seize
ٱلنَّاسَ
the mankind
بِظُلۡمِهِم
for their wrongdoing
مَّا
not
تَرَكَ
He (would) have left
عَلَيۡهَا
upon it
مِن
any
دَآبَّةٍ
moving creature
وَلَـٰكِن
but
يُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ
He defers them
إِلَىٰٓ
for
أَجَلٍ
a term
مُّسَمًّى‌ۖ
appointed
فَإِذَا
Then when
جَآءَ
comes
أَجَلُهُمۡ
their terms
لَا
not
يَسۡتَــٔۡخِرُونَ
they (will) remain behind
سَاعَةً‌ۖ
an hour
وَلَا
and not
يَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ
they can advance (it)
٦١
And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
16:62
وَيَجۡعَلُونَ
And they assign
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
مَا
what
يَكۡرَهُونَ
they dislike
وَتَصِفُ
and assert
أَلۡسِنَتُهُمُ
their tongues
ٱلۡكَذِبَ
the lie
أَنَّ
that
لَهُمُ
for them
ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ‌ۖ
(is) the best
لَا
No
جَرَمَ
doubt
أَنَّ
that
لَهُمُ
for them
ٱلنَّارَ
(is) the Fire
وَأَنَّهُم
and that they
مُّفۡرَطُونَ
(will) be abandoned
٦٢
And they attribute to Allāh that which they dislike [i.e., daughters], and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.1
16:63
تَٱللَّهِ
By Allah
لَقَدۡ
certainly
أَرۡسَلۡنَآ
We have sent
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أُمَمٍ
nations
مِّن
before you
قَبۡلِكَ
before you
فَزَيَّنَ
but made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
to them
ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنُ
the Shaitaan
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
فَهُوَ
So he
وَلِيُّهُمُ
(is) their ally
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
today
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
٦٣
By Allāh, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is their [i.e., the disbelievers] ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.
16:64
وَمَآ
And not
أَنزَلۡنَا
We revealed
عَلَيۡكَ
to you
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
إِلَّا
except
لِتُبَيِّنَ
that you make clear
لَهُمُ
to them
ٱلَّذِى
that which
ٱخۡتَلَفُواۡ
they differed
فِيهِ‌ۙ
in it
وَهُدًى
and (as) a guidance
وَرَحۡمَةً
and mercy
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
who believe
٦٤
And We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
16:65
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
أَنزَلَ
has sent down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءً
water
فَأَحۡيَا
then gives life
بِهِ
by it
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
(to) the earth
بَعۡدَ
after
مَوۡتِهَآ‌ۚ
its death
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَةً
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَسۡمَعُونَ
who listen
٦٥
And Allāh has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.
16:66
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
لَكُمۡ
for you
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ
the cattle
لَعِبۡرَةً‌ۖ
(is) a lesson
نُّسۡقِيكُم
We give you to drink
مِّمَّا
from what
فِى
(is) in
بُطُونِهِۦ
their bellies
مِنۢ
from
بَيۡنِ
between
فَرۡثٍ
bowels
وَدَمٍ
and blood
لَّبَنًا
milk
خَالِصًا
pure
سَآئِغًا
palatable
لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
to the drinkers
٦٦
And indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.
16:67
وَمِن
And from
ثَمَرٰتِ
fruits
ٱلنَّخِيلِ
the date-palm
وَٱلۡأَعۡنَـٰبِ
and the grapes
تَتَّخِذُونَ
you take
مِنۡهُ
from it
سَكَرًا
intoxicant
وَرِزۡقًا
and a provision
حَسَنًا‌ۗ
good
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَةً
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَعۡقِلُونَ
who use reason
٦٧
And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision.1 Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.
16:68
وَأَوۡحَىٰ
And inspired
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
إِلَى
to
ٱلنَّحۡلِ
the bee
أَنِ
[that]
ٱتَّخِذِى
Take
مِنَ
among
ٱلۡجِبَالِ
the mountains
بُيُوتًا
houses
وَمِنَ
and among
ٱلشَّجَرِ
the trees
وَمِمَّا
and in what
يَعۡرِشُونَ
they construct
٦٨
And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
16:69
ثُمَّ
Then
كُلِى
eat
مِن
from
كُلِّ
all
ٱلثَّمَرٰتِ
the fruits
فَٱسۡلُكِى
and follow
سُبُلَ
(the) ways
رَبِّكِ
(of) your Lord
ذُلُلاً‌ۚ
made smooth
يَخۡرُجُ
Comes forth
مِنۢ
from
بُطُونِهَا
their bellies
شَرَابٌ
a drink
مُّخۡتَلِفٌ
(of) varying
أَلۡوٰنُهُۥ
colors
فِيهِ
in it
شِفَآءٌ
(is) a healing
لِّلنَّاسِ‌ۗ
for the mankind
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَةً
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who reflect
٦٩
Then eat from all the fruits1 and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
16:70
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
خَلَقَكُمۡ
created you
ثُمَّ
then
يَتَوَفَّـٰكُمۡ‌ۚ
will cause you to die
وَمِنكُم
And among you
مَّن
(is one) who
يُرَدُّ
is sent back
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَرۡذَلِ
the worst
ٱلۡعُمُرِ
(of) the age
لِكَىۡ
so that
لَا
not
يَعۡلَمَ
he will know
بَعۡدَ
after
عِلۡمٍ
knowledge
شَيۡــًٔا‌ۚ
a thing
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knowing
قَدِيرٌ
All-Powerful
٧٠
And Allāh created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Competent.
16:71
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
فَضَّلَ
has favored
بَعۡضَكُمۡ
some of you
عَلَىٰ
over
بَعۡضٍ
others
فِى
in
ٱلرِّزۡقِ‌ۚ
[the] provision
فَمَا
But not
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
فُضِّلُواۡ
were favored
بِرَآدِّى
would hand over
رِزۡقِهِمۡ
their provision
عَلَىٰ
to
مَا
whom
مَلَكَتۡ
possess
أَيۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ
their right hands
فَهُمۡ
so (that) they
فِيهِ
(are) in it
سَوَآءٌ‌ۚ
equal
أَفَبِنِعۡمَةِ
Then is it the Favor
ٱللَّهِ
of Allah
يَجۡحَدُونَ
they reject
٧١
And Allāh has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored [i.e., given more] would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess [i.e., slaves] so they would be equal to them therein.1 Then is it the favor of Allāh they reject?
16:72
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
جَعَلَ
(has) made
لَكُم
for you
مِّنۡ
from
أَنفُسِكُمۡ
yourselves
أَزۡوٰجًا
spouses
وَجَعَلَ
and has made
لَكُم
for you
مِّنۡ
from
أَزۡوٰجِكُم
your spouses
بَنِينَ
sons
وَحَفَدَةً
and grandsons
وَرَزَقَكُم
and has provided for you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ‌ۚ
the good things
أَفَبِٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ
Then in falsehood do
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
they believe
وَبِنِعۡمَتِ
and the Favor
ٱللَّهِ
of Allah
هُمۡ
they
يَكۡفُرُونَ
disbelieve
٧٢
And Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allāh they disbelieve?
16:73
وَيَعۡبُدُونَ
And they worship
مِن
other than
دُونِ
other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَا
which
لَا
not
يَمۡلِكُ
possesses
لَهُمۡ
for them
رِزۡقًا
any provision
مِّنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
شَيۡــًٔا
[anything]
وَلَا
and not
يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
they are able
٧٣
And they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.
16:74
فَلَا
So (do) not
تَضۡرِبُواۡ
put forth
لِلَّهِ
for Allah
ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ‌ۚ
the similitude
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
وَأَنتُمۡ
and you
لَا
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٧٤
So do not assert similarities to Allāh.1 Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.
16:75
۞ضَرَبَ
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
Allah sets forth
مَثَلاً
the example
عَبۡدًا
(of) a slave
مَّمۡلُوكًا

يَقۡدِرُ
he has power

شَىۡءٍ
anything
وَمَن
and (one) whom
رَّزَقۡنَـٰهُ
We provided him
مِنَّا
from Us
رِزۡقًا
a provision
حَسَنًا
good
فَهُوَ
so he
يُنفِقُ
spends
مِنۡهُ
from it
سِرًّا
secretly
وَجَهۡرًا‌ۖ
and publicly
هَلۡ
Can
يَسۡتَوُۥنَ‌ۚ
they be equal
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise
لِلَّهِ‌ۚ
(is) for Allah
بَلۡ
Nay
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
but most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٧٥
Allāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.
16:76
وَضَرَبَ
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلاً
an example
رَّجُلَيۡنِ
(of) two men
أَحَدُهُمَآ
one of them
أَبۡكَمُ
(is) dumb
لَا

يَقۡدِرُ
he has power
عَلَىٰ
on

عَلَىٰ
on
مَوۡلَـٰهُ
his master
أَيۡنَمَا
Wherever
يُوَجِّههُّ
he directs him
لَا

يَأۡتِ
he comes
بِخَيۡرٍ‌ۖ
with any good
هَلۡ
Is
يَسۡتَوِى
equal
هُوَ
he
وَمَن
and (the one) who
يَأۡمُرُ
commands
بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ‌ۙ
[of] justice
وَهُوَ
and he
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
صِرٰطٍ
a path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ
straight
٧٦
And Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?
16:77
وَلِلَّهِ
And to Allah (belongs)
غَيۡبُ
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۚ
and the earth
وَمَآ
And not
أَمۡرُ
(is the) matter
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
(of) the Hour
إِلَّا
but
كَلَمۡحِ
as a twinkling
ٱلۡبَصَرِ
(of) the eye

هُوَ
it
أَقۡرَبُ‌ۚ
(is) nearer
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَلَىٰ
on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
قَدِيرٌ
(is) All-Powerful
٧٧
And to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
16:78
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
أَخۡرَجَكُم
brought you forth
مِّنۢ
from
بُطُونِ
the wombs
أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمۡ
(of) your mothers
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
knowing
شَيۡــًٔا
anything
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلسَّمۡعَ
the hearing
وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ
and the sight
وَٱلۡأَفۡــِٔدَةَ‌ۙ
and the hearts
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
give thanks
٧٨
And Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.
16:79
أَلَمۡ
Do not
يَرَوۡاۡ
they see
إِلَى
towards
ٱلطَّيۡرِ
the birds
مُسَخَّرٰتٍ

the midst
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
(of) the sky
مَا
None

(are) Signs
لِّقَوۡمٍ

who believe
٧٩
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
16:80
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
جَعَلَ
(has) made
لَكُم
for you
مِّنۢ
[from]
بُيُوتِكُمۡ
your homes
سَكَنًا
a resting place
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَكُم
for you
مِّن
from
جُلُودِ
the hides
ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ
(of) the cattle
بُيُوتًا
tents
تَسۡتَخِفُّونَهَا
which you find light
يَوۡمَ
(on) the day
ظَعۡنِكُمۡ
(of) your travel
وَيَوۡمَ
and the day
إِقَامَتِكُمۡ‌ۙ
(of) your encampment
وَمِنۡ
and from
أَصۡوَافِهَا
their wool
وَأَوۡبَارِهَا
and their fur
وَأَشۡعَارِهَآ
and their hair
أَثَـٰثًا
(is) furnishing
وَمَتَـٰعًا
and a provision
إِلَىٰ
for
حِينٍ
a time
٨٠
And Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
16:81
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
جَعَلَ
(has) made
لَكُم
for you
مِّمَّا
from what
خَلَقَ
He created
ظِلَـٰلاً
shades
وَجَعَلَ
and (has) made
لَكُم
for you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلۡجِبَالِ
the mountains
أَكۡنَـٰنًا
shelters
وَجَعَلَ
and (has) made
لَكُمۡ
for you
سَرٰبِيلَ
garments
تَقِيكُمُ
to protect you
ٱلۡحَرَّ
(from) the heat
وَسَرٰبِيلَ
and garments
تَقِيكُم
to protect you
بَأۡسَكُمۡ‌ۚ
from your (mutual) violence
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
يُتِمُّ
He completes
نِعۡمَتَهُۥ
His Favor
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
upon you
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تُسۡلِمُونَ
submit
٨١
And Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].
16:82
فَإِن
Then, if
تَوَلَّوۡاۡ
they turn away
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
عَلَيۡكَ
upon you
ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ
(is) the conveyance
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
the clear
٨٢
But if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
16:83
يَعۡرِفُونَ
They recognize
نِعۡمَتَ
(the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ثُمَّ
then
يُنكِرُونَهَا
they deny it
وَأَكۡثَرُهُمُ
And most of them
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ
(are) the disbelievers
٨٣
They recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.
16:84
وَيَوۡمَ
And the Day
نَبۡعَثُ
We will resurrect
مِن
from
كُلِّ
every
أُمَّةٍ
nation
شَهِيدًا
a witness
ثُمَّ
then
لَا
not
يُؤۡذَنُ
will be permitted
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ
will be asked to make amends
٨٤
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].
16:85
وَإِذَا
And when
رَءَا
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
wronged
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
the punishment
فَلَا
then not
يُخَفَّفُ
it will be lightened
عَنۡهُمۡ
for them
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يُنظَرُونَ
will be given respite
٨٥
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
16:86
وَإِذَا
And when
رَءَا
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أَشۡرَكُواۡ
associated partners with Allah
شُرَكَآءَهُمۡ
their partners
قَالُواۡ
They will say
رَبَّنَا
Our Lord
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
شُرَكَآؤُنَا
(are) our partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
كُنَّا
we used to
نَدۡعُواۡ
invoke
مِن
besides You
دُونِكَ‌ۖ
besides You
فَأَلۡقَوۡاۡ
But they (will) throw back
إِلَيۡهِمُ
at them
ٱلۡقَوۡلَ
(their) word
إِنَّكُمۡ
Indeed, you
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
(are) surely liars
٨٦
And when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."
16:87
وَأَلۡقَوۡاۡ
And they (will) offer
إِلَى
to
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
(on) that Day
ٱلسَّلَمَ‌ۖ
the submission
وَضَلَّ
and (is) lost
عَنۡهُم
from them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يَفۡتَرُونَ
invent
٨٧
And they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
16:88
ٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
وَصَدُّواۡ
and hindered
عَن
from
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
زِدۡنَـٰهُمۡ
We will increase them
عَذَابًا
(in) punishment
فَوۡقَ
over
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
punishment
بِمَا
because
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يُفۡسِدُونَ
spread corruption
٨٨
Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allāh - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.
16:89
وَيَوۡمَ
And the Day
نَبۡعَثُ
We will resurrect
فِى
among
كُلِّ
every
أُمَّةٍ
nation
شَهِيدًا
a witness
عَلَيۡهِم
over them
مِّنۡ
from
أَنفُسِهِمۡ‌ۖ
themselves
وَجِئۡنَا
And We (will) bring
بِكَ
you
شَهِيدًا
(as) a witness
عَلَىٰ
over
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ‌ۚ
these
وَنَزَّلۡنَا
And We sent down
عَلَيۡكَ
to you
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
تِبۡيَـٰنًا
(as) a clarification
لِّكُلِّ
of every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
وَهُدًى
and a guidance
وَرَحۡمَةً
and mercy
وَبُشۡرَىٰ
and glad tidings
لِلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
for the Muslims
٨٩
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves [i.e., their prophet]. And We will bring you, [O Muḥammad], as a witness over these [i.e., your nation]. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.1
16:90
۞إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَأۡمُرُ
commands
بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ
justice
وَٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ
and the good
وَإِيتَآىِٕ
and giving
ذِى
(to) relatives
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
(to) relatives
وَيَنۡهَىٰ

[from]
ٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ
the immorality
وَٱلۡمُنكَرِ
and the bad
وَٱلۡبَغۡىِ‌ۚ
and the oppression
يَعِظُكُمۡ
He admonishes you
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ
take heed
٩٠
Indeed, Allāh orders justice and good conduct and giving [help] to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
16:91
وَأَوۡفُواۡ
And fulfil
بِعَهۡدِ
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
إِذَا
when
عَـٰهَدتُّمۡ
you have taken a covenant
وَلَا

ٱلۡأَيۡمَـٰنَ
oaths
بَعۡدَ
after
تَوۡكِيدِهَا
their confirmation
وَقَدۡ
while verily
جَعَلۡتُمُ
you have made
ٱللَّهَ
Allah

a surety
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
تَفۡعَلُونَ
you do
٩١
And fulfill the covenant of Allāh when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allāh, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allāh knows what you do.
16:92
وَلَا
And (do) not

after
قُوَّةٍ
strength
أَنكَـٰثًا
(into) untwisted strands
تَتَّخِذُونَ
you take
أَيۡمَـٰنَكُمۡ
your oaths
دَخَلاَۢ
(as) a deception
بَيۡنَكُمۡ
between you
أَن
because

(another) community
إِنَّمَا
Only
يَبۡلُوكُمُ
Allah tests you
ٱللَّهُ
Allah tests you
بِهِۦ‌ۚ
by it
وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ
And He will make clear
لَكُمۡ
to you
يَوۡمَ
(on) the Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
مَا
what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
فِيهِ
in it
تَخۡتَلِفُونَ

٩٢
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community.1 Allāh only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.
16:93
وَلَوۡ
And if
شَآءَ
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (had) willed
لَجَعَلَكُمۡ
surely He (could) have made you
أُمَّةً
a nation
وٰحِدَةً
one
وَلَـٰكِن
but

He lets go astray
مَن

مَن

وَلَتُسۡــَٔلُنَّ
And surely you will be questioned
عَمَّا
about what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٩٣
And if Allāh had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills.1 And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
16:94
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓاۡ
take
أَيۡمَـٰنَكُمۡ
your oaths
دَخَلاَۢ
(as) a deception
بَيۡنَكُمۡ
between you
فَتَزِلَّ
lest, should slip
قَدَمُۢ
a foot
بَعۡدَ
after
ثُبُوتِهَا
it is firmly planted
وَتَذُوقُواۡ
and you would taste
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the evil
بِمَا
for what

(the) way
ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ
(of) Allah
وَلَكُمۡ
and for you
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great
٩٤
And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allāh,1 and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.
16:95
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَشۡتَرُواۡ
exchange
بِعَهۡدِ
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah

إِنَّمَا
Indeed, what

ٱللَّهِ
Allah

for you
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you were (to)
تَعۡلَمُونَ

٩٥
And do not exchange the covenant of Allāh for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allāh is best for you, if only you could know.
16:96
مَا
Whatever
عِندَكُمۡ
(is) with you
يَنفَدُ‌ۖ
will be exhausted
وَمَا
and whatever
عِندَ
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
بَاقٍ‌ۗ
(will) be remaining
وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّ
And surely We will pay
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who

their reward
بِأَحۡسَنِ
to (the) best
مَا
(of) what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٩٦
Whatever you have will end, but what Allāh has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.
16:97
مَنۡ
Whoever
عَمِلَ
does
صَـٰلِحًا
righteous deeds
مِّن
whether
ذَكَرٍ
male
أَوۡ
or
أُنثَىٰ
female
وَهُوَ
while he
مُؤۡمِنٌ
(is) a believer
فَلَنُحۡيِيَنَّهُۥ
then surely We will give him life
حَيَوٰةً
a life
طَيِّبَةً‌ۖ
good
وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ
and We will pay them
أَجۡرَهُم
their reward
بِأَحۡسَنِ
to (the) best
مَا
of what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٩٧
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
16:98
فَإِذَا
So when
قَرَأۡتَ
you recite
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
the Quran
فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ
seek refuge
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
مِنَ
from
ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِ
the Shaitaan
ٱلرَّجِيمِ
the accursed
٩٨
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].
16:99
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
لَيۡسَ
not
لَهُۥ
for him

those who

believe
وَعَلَىٰ
and upon
رَبِّهِمۡ
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
they put their trust
٩٩
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.
16:100
إِنَّمَا
Only
سُلۡطَـٰنُهُۥ
his authority
عَلَى

ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَتَوَلَّوۡنَهُۥ
take him as an ally
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
هُم
[they]
بِهِۦ
with Him
مُشۡرِكُونَ
associate partners
١٠٠
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.
16:101
وَإِذَا
And when
بَدَّلۡنَآ
We substitute
ءَايَةً
a Verse
مَّكَانَ
(in) place
ءَايَةٍ‌ۙ
(of) a Verse
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
أَعۡلَمُ
(is) most knowing
بِمَا
of what
يُنَزِّلُ
He sends down
قَالُوٓاۡ
they say
إِنَّمَآ
Only
أَنتَ
you
مُفۡتَرِۭ‌ۚ
(are) an inventor
بَلۡ
Nay
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
١٠١
And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse - and Allāh is most knowing of what He sends down - they say, "You, [O Muḥammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know.
16:102
قُلۡ
Say
نَزَّلَهُۥ
Has brought it down
رُوحُ
the Holy Spirit
ٱلۡقُدُسِ
the Holy Spirit
مِن
from
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
لِيُثَبِّتَ
to make firm
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَهُدًى
and (as) a guidance
وَبُشۡرَىٰ
and glad tidings
لِلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
to the Muslims
١٠٢
Say, [O Muḥammad], "The Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."
16:103
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
نَعۡلَمُ
We know
أَنَّهُمۡ
that they
يَقُولُونَ
say
إِنَّمَا
Only
يُعَلِّمُهُۥ
teaches him
بَشَرٌ‌ۗ
a human being
لِّسَانُ
(The) tongue
ٱلَّذِى
(of) the one
يُلۡحِدُونَ
they refer
إِلَيۡهِ
to him
أَعۡجَمِىٌّ
(is) foreign
وَهَـٰذَا
while this
لِسَانٌ
(is) a language
عَرَبِىٌّ
Arabic
مُّبِينٌ
clear
١٠٣
And We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)]." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign,1 and this [recitation, i.e., Qur’ān] is [in] a clear Arabic language.
16:104
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
لَا
not
يَهۡدِيهِمُ
Allah will guide them
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will guide them
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
١٠٤
Indeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allāh - Allāh will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.
16:105
إِنَّمَا
Only
يَفۡتَرِى
they invent
ٱلۡكَذِبَ
the falsehood
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ
(of) Allah
وَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
and those
هُمُ
they
ٱلۡكَـٰذِبُونَ
(are) the liars
١٠٥
They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allāh, and it is those who are the liars.
16:106
مَن
Whoever
كَفَرَ
disbelieves
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
إِيمَـٰنِهِۦٓ
his belief
إِلَّا
except
مَنۡ
(one) who
أُكۡرِهَ
is forced
وَقَلۡبُهُۥ
while his heart
مُطۡمَئِنُّۢ
(is) content
بِٱلۡإِيمَـٰنِ
with the faith
وَلَـٰكِن
But
مَّن
(one) who
شَرَحَ
opens
بِٱلۡكُفۡرِ
to disbelief
صَدۡرًا
(his) breast
فَعَلَيۡهِمۡ
then upon them
غَضَبٌ
(is) a wrath
مِّنَ
of
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great
١٠٦
Whoever disbelieves in [i.e., denies] Allāh after his belief...1 except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allāh, and for them is a great punishment;
16:107
ذٰلِكَ
That (is)
بِأَنَّهُمُ
because
ٱسۡتَحَبُّواۡ
they preferred
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
عَلَى
over
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
١٠٧
That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.
16:108
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
طَبَعَ
Allah has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has set a seal
عَلَىٰ
over
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
their hearts
وَسَمۡعِهِمۡ
and their hearing
وَأَبۡصَـٰرِهِمۡ‌ۖ
and their sight
وَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
And those
هُمُ
they are
ٱلۡغَـٰفِلُونَ
the heedless
١٠٨
Those are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allāh has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless.
16:109
لَا
No
جَرَمَ
doubt
أَنَّهُمۡ
that they
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ
(are) the losers
١٠٩
Assuredly, it is they, in the Hereafter, who will be the losers.
16:110
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّ
indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
هَاجَرُواۡ
emigrated
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
مَا
what
فُتِنُواۡ
they had been put to trials
ثُمَّ
then
جَـٰهَدُواۡ
strove hard
وَصَبَرُوٓاۡ
and were patient
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
مِنۢ
after it
بَعۡدِهَا
after it
لَغَفُورٌ
surely is Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
١١٠
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to say words of disbelief] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allāh] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful
16:111
۞يَوۡمَ
(On) the Day
تَأۡتِى
(when) will come
كُلُّ
every
نَفۡسٍ
soul
تُجَـٰدِلُ
pleading
عَن
for
نَّفۡسِهَا
itself
وَتُوَفَّىٰ
and will be paid in full
كُلُّ
every
نَفۡسٍ
soul
مَّا
what
عَمِلَتۡ
it did
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
(will) not
يُظۡلَمُونَ
be wronged
١١١
On the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly].
16:112
وَضَرَبَ
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلاً
a similitude
قَرۡيَةً
(of) a town
كَانَتۡ
(that) was
ءَامِنَةً
secure
مُّطۡمَئِنَّةً
and content
يَأۡتِيهَا
coming to it
رِزۡقُهَا
its provision
رَغَدًا
(in) abundance
مِّن
from
كُلِّ
every
مَكَانٍ
place
فَكَفَرَتۡ
but it denied
بِأَنۡعُمِ
(the) Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) Favors of Allah
فَأَذٰقَهَا
so Allah made it taste
ٱللَّهُ
so Allah made it taste
لِبَاسَ
(the) garb
ٱلۡجُوعِ
(of) the hunger
وَٱلۡخَوۡفِ
and the fear
بِمَا
for what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يَصۡنَعُونَ
do
١١٢
And Allāh presents an example: a city [i.e., Makkah] which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allāh. So Allāh made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.
16:113
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
جَآءَهُمۡ
came to them
رَسُولٌ
a Messenger
مِّنۡهُمۡ
from among them
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
but they denied him
فَأَخَذَهُمُ
so seized them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
the punishment
وَهُمۡ
while they
ظَـٰلِمُونَ
(were) wrongdoers
١١٣
And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
16:114
فَكُلُواۡ
So eat
مِمَّا
of what
رَزَقَكُمُ
Allah has provided you
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has provided you
حَلَـٰلاً
lawful
طَيِّبًا
and good
وَٱشۡكُرُواۡ
And be grateful
نِعۡمَتَ
(for the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
[you]
إِيَّاهُ
Him Alone
تَعۡبُدُونَ
you worship
١١٤
Then eat of what Allāh has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.
16:115
إِنَّمَا
Only
حَرَّمَ
He has forbidden
عَلَيۡكُمُ
to you
ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ
the dead animal
وَٱلدَّمَ
and the blood
وَلَحۡمَ
and the flesh
ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ
(of) the swine
وَمَآ
and what
أُهِلَّ
has been dedicated
لِغَيۡرِ
to other (than)
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
بِهِۦ‌ۖ
[with it]
فَمَنِ
But (if) one
ٱضۡطُرَّ
(is) forced
غَيۡرَ
without (being)
بَاغٍ
disobedient
وَلَا
and not
عَادٍ
a transgressor
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
١١٥
He has only forbidden to you dead animals,1 blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:116
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَقُولُواۡ
say
لِمَا
for that which
تَصِفُ
assert
أَلۡسِنَتُكُمُ
your tongues
ٱلۡكَذِبَ
the lie
هَـٰذَا
This
حَلَـٰلٌ
(is) lawful
وَهَـٰذَا
and this
حَرَامٌ
(is) forbidden
لِّتَفۡتَرُواۡ
so that you invent
عَلَى
about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ٱلۡكَذِبَ‌ۚ
the lie
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَفۡتَرُونَ
invent
عَلَى
about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ٱلۡكَذِبَ
the lie
لَا
they will not succeed
يُفۡلِحُونَ
they will not succeed
١١٦
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allāh. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.
16:117
مَتَـٰعٌ
An enjoyment
قَلِيلٌ
little
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
١١٧
[It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.
16:118
وَعَلَى
And to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
هَادُواۡ
are Jews
حَرَّمۡنَا
We have forbidden
مَا
what
قَصَصۡنَا
We related
عَلَيۡكَ
to you
مِن
before
قَبۡلُ‌ۖ
before
وَمَا
And not
ظَلَمۡنَـٰهُمۡ
We wronged them
وَلَـٰكِن
but
كَانُوٓاۡ
they used (to)
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
themselves
يَظۡلِمُونَ
wrong
١١٨
And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before.1 And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves.
16:119
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّ
indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
عَمِلُواۡ
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
evil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ
in ignorance
ثُمَّ
then
تَابُواۡ
repented
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
ذٰلِكَ
that
وَأَصۡلَحُوٓاۡ
and corrected themselves
إِنَّ
indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
مِنۢ
after that
بَعۡدِهَا
after that
لَغَفُورٌ
(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
١١٩
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:120
إِنَّ
Indeed
إِبۡرٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
كَانَ
was
أُمَّةً
a nation
قَانِتًا
obedient
لِّلَّهِ
to Allah
حَنِيفًا
upright
وَلَمۡ
and not
يَكُ
he was
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
١٢٠
Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader,1 devoutly obedient to Allāh, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.
16:121
شَاكِرًا
Thankful
لِّأَنۡعُمِهِ‌ۚ
for His favors
ٱجۡتَبَـٰهُ
He chose him
وَهَدَٮٰهُ
and guided him
إِلَىٰ
to
صِرٰطٍ
the way
مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ
straight
١٢١
[He was] grateful for His favors. He [i.e., Allāh] chose him and guided him to a straight path.
16:122
وَءَاتَيۡنَـٰهُ
And We gave him
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
the world
حَسَنَةً‌ۖ
good
وَإِنَّهُۥ
and indeed, he
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
لَمِنَ
(he) will surely (be) among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
the righteous
١٢٢
And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
16:123
ثُمَّ
Then
أَوۡحَيۡنَآ
We revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
أَنِ
that
ٱتَّبِعۡ
You follow
مِلَّةَ
(the) religion
إِبۡرٰهِيمَ
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًا‌ۖ
upright
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
the polytheists
١٢٣
Then We revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allāh.
16:124
إِنَّمَا
Only
جُعِلَ
was appointed
ٱلسَّبۡتُ
the Sabbath
عَلَى
for
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱخۡتَلَفُواۡ
differed
فِيهِ‌ۚ
in it
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَيَحۡكُمُ
will surely judge
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
between them
يَوۡمَ
(on) the Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
فِيمَا
in what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
فِيهِ
[in it]
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
differ
١٢٤
The sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it. And indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
16:125
ٱدۡعُ
Call
إِلَىٰ
to
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
بِٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ
with the wisdom
وَٱلۡمَوۡعِظَةِ
and the instruction
ٱلۡحَسَنَةِ‌ۖ
the good
وَجَـٰدِلۡهُم
and discuss with them
بِٱلَّتِى
in that
هِىَ
which
أَحۡسَنُ‌ۚ
(is) best
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
هُوَ
He
أَعۡلَمُ
(is) most knowing
بِمَن
of who
ضَلَّ
has strayed
عَن
from
سَبِيلِهِۦ‌ۖ
His way
وَهُوَ
And He
أَعۡلَمُ
(is) most knowing
بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ
of the guided ones
١٢٥
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.
16:126
وَإِنۡ
And if
عَاقَبۡتُمۡ
you retaliate
فَعَاقِبُواۡ
then retaliate
بِمِثۡلِ
with the like
مَا
of what
عُوقِبۡتُم
you were afflicted
بِهِۦ‌ۖ
with [it]
وَلَئِن
But if
صَبَرۡتُمۡ
you are patient
لَهُوَ
surely (it) is
خَيۡرٌ
better
لِّلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
for those who are patient
١٢٦
And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed.1 But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.
16:127
وَٱصۡبِرۡ
And be patient
وَمَا
and not
صَبۡرُكَ
(is) your patience
إِلَّا
but
بِٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
from Allah
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَحۡزَنۡ
grieve
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
over them
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَكُ
be
فِى
in
ضَيۡقٍ
distress
مِّمَّا
for what
يَمۡكُرُونَ
they plot
١٢٧
And be patient, [O Muḥammad], and your patience is not but through Allāh. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.
16:128
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَعَ
(is) with
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱتَّقَواۡ
fear (Him)
وَّٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
هُم
[they]
مُّحۡسِنُونَ
(are) good-doers
١٢٨
Indeed, Allāh is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
