بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
✦
21:1
ٱقۡ تَرَبَ
(Has) approached
لِلنّ َاسِ
for [the] mankind
حِسَابُهُمۡ
their account
وَهُمۡ
while they
فِى
(are) in
غَفۡلَةٍ
heedlessness
turning away
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.
21:2
مَا
Not
يَأۡتِيهِم
comes to them
of
a Reminder
from
their Lord
anew
إِلَّا
except
they listen to it
وَهُمۡ
while they
يَلۡعَبُو نَ
٢(are at) play
No mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play
21:3
لَاهِيَةً
Distracted
their hearts
وَأَسَرُّواۡ
And they conceal
the private conversation
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
[they] wronged
هَلۡ
Is
هَـٰ ذَآ
this
إِلَّا
except
بَشَرٌ
a human being
like you
أَفَتَأۡتُونَ
So would you approach
the magic
وَأَنت ُمۡ
while you
تُبۡ صِرُو نَ
٣see (it)
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"
21:4
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّى
My Lord
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
the word
فِى
in
the heavens
وَٱ لۡأَرۡضِۖ
and the earth
وَهُوَ
And He
(is) the All-Hearer
the All-Knower
He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."
21:5
بَلۡ
Nay
قَالُوٓ اۡ
they say
أَضۡغَـٰ ثُ
Muddled
أَحۡلَـٰ مِۭ
dreams
nay
he (has) invented it
بَلۡ
nay
هُوَ
he
شَاعِرٌ
(is) a poet
So let him bring us
بِـَٔـايَةٍ
a sign
like what
أُرۡسِلَ
was sent
(to) the former
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
21:6
مَآ
Not
ءَامَنَتۡ
believed
قَبۡ لَهُم
before them
any
town
أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰ هَآۖ
which We destroyed
أَفَهُمۡ
so will they
يُؤۡمِنُو نَ
٦believe
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them,1 so will they believe?
21:7
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
قَبۡ لَكَ
before you
إِلَّا
except
رِجَالاً
men
We revealed
إِلَيۡهِمۡۖ
to them
فَسۡــَٔلُوٓ اۡ
So ask
أَهۡلَ
(the) people
(of) the Reminder
إِن
if
you
لَا
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُو نَ
٧know
And We sent not before you, [O Muḥammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
21:8
وَمَا
And not
جَعَلۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
We made them
جَسَدًا
bodies
not
يَأۡكُلُونَ
eating
the food
وَمَا
and not
كَانُواۡ
they were
خَـٰ لِدِي نَ
٨immortals
And We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food,1 nor were they immortal [on earth].
21:9
ثُمّ َ
Then
صَدَقۡ نَـٰ هُمُ
We fulfilled (for) them
the promise
فَأَنج َيۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
and We saved them
وَمَن
and whom
We willed
وَأَهۡلَكۡنَا
and We destroyed
the transgressors
Then1 We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.
21:10
لَقَدۡ
Indeed
أَنز َلۡنَآ
We (have) sent down
إِلَيۡكُمۡ
to you
كِتَـٰ بًا
a Book
in it
ذِكۡرُكُمۡۖ
(is) your mention
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَعۡقِلُو نَ
١٠you use reason
We have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in which is your mention.1 Then will you not reason?
21:11
وَكَمۡ
And how many
قَصَمۡنَا
We (have) shattered
مِن
of
a town
(that) was
ظَالِمَةً
unjust
and We produced
بَعۡدَهَا
after them
قَوۡمًا
another people
ءَاخَرِي نَ
١١another people
And how many a city which was unjust1 have We shattered and produced after it another people.
21:12
فَلَمّ َآ
Then when
أَحَسُّواۡ
they perceived
بَأۡسَنَآ
Our torment
إِذَا
behold
هُم
they
from it
يَرۡكُضُو نَ
١٢were fleeing
And when they [i.e., its inhabitants] perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.
21:13
لَا
Flee not
تَرۡكُضُواۡ
Flee not
وَٱ رۡجِعُوٓ اۡ
but return
إِلَىٰ
to
مَآ
what
أُتۡرِفۡتُمۡ
you were given luxury
فِيهِ
in it
وَمَسَـٰ كِنِكُمۡ
and to your homes
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تُسۡــَٔلُو نَ
١٣be questioned
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."1
21:14
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰ وَيۡلَنَآ
O woe to us
إِنّ َا
Indeed, [we]
كُنّ َا
we were
ظَـٰ لِمِي نَ
١٤wrongdoers
They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."
21:15
فَمَا
Then not
زَالَت
ceased
تِّلۡكَ
[this]
دَعۡوَٮٰ هُمۡ
their cry
حَتَّىٰ
until
جَعَلۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
We made them
حَصِيدًا
reaped
خَـٰ مِدِي نَ
١٥extinct
And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].
21:16
وَمَا
And not
خَلَقۡ نَا
We created
the heavens
وَٱ لۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَمَا
and what
بَيۡنَهُمَا
(is) between them
لَـٰ عِبِي نَ
١٦(for) playing
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.
21:17
لَوۡ
If
أَرَدۡ نَآ
We intended
أَن
that
We take
لَهۡوًا
a pastime
surely We (could have) taken it
مِن
from
Us
إِن
if
We were
فَـٰ عِلِي نَ
١٧doers
Had We intended to take a diversion,1 We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.
21:18
بَلۡ
Nay
نَقۡ ذِفُ
We hurl
بِٱ لۡحَقِّ
the truth
عَلَى
against
[the] falsehood
فَيَدۡ مَغُهُۥ
and it breaks its head
فَإِذَا
behold
هُوَ
it (is)
زَاهِقٌۚ
vanishing
And for you
(is) destruction
مِمّ َا
for what
تَصِفُو نَ
١٨you ascribe
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it,1 and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.2
21:19
وَلَهُۥ
And to Him (belongs)
مَن
whoever
(is) in
the heavens
وَٱ لۡأَرۡضِۚ
and the earth
وَمَنۡ
And (those) who
عِند َهُۥ
(are) near Him
لَا
not
يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
they are arrogant
عَنۡ
to
عِبَادَتِهِۦ
worship Him
وَلَا
and not
يَسۡتَحۡسِرُو نَ
١٩they tire
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him [i.e., the angels] are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.
21:20
يُسَبِّحُونَ
They glorify (Him)
[the] night
وَٱ ل نّ َهَارَ
and [the] day
لَا
not
يَفۡتُرُو نَ
٢٠they slacken
They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.
21:21
أَمِ
Or
(have) they taken
ءَالِهَةً
gods
from
the earth
هُمۡ
they
يُنش ِرُو نَ
٢١raise (the dead)
Or have they [i.e., men] taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?
21:22
لَوۡ
If
كَانَ
(there) were
فِيهِمَآ
in both of them
ءَالِهَةٌ
gods
إِلَّا
besides
Allah
لَفَسَدَتَاۚ
surely they (would) have been ruined
فَسُبۡ حَـٰ نَ
So glorified
(is) Allah
رَبِّ
Lord
(of) the Throne
عَمّ َا
(above) what
يَصِفُو نَ
٢٢they attribute
Had there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allāh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allāh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
21:23
لَا
Not
يُسۡــَٔلُ
He (can) be questioned
عَمّ َا
about what
يَفۡعَلُ
He does
وَهُمۡ
but they
يُسۡــَٔلُو نَ
٢٣will be questioned
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
21:24
أَمِ
Or
(have) they taken
مِن
besides Him
besides Him
ءَالِهَةًۖ
gods
Say
هَاتُواۡ
Bring
بُرۡهَـٰ نَكُمۡۖ
your proof
هَـٰ ذَا
This
ذِكۡرُ
(is) a Reminder
مَن
(for those) who
(are) with me
وَذِكۡرُ
and a Reminder
مَن
(for those) who
(were) before me
بَلۡ
But
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
the truth
فَهُم
so they
(are) averse
Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur’ān] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me."1 But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.
21:25
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
مِن
before you
before you
مِن
any
Messenger
إِلَّا
but
نُوحِىٓ
We reveal(ed)
إِلَيۡهِ
to him
أَنّ َهُۥ
that [He]
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰ هَ
god
إِلَّآ
except
أَنَاۡ
Me
فَٱ عۡبُدُو نِ
٢٥so worship Me
And We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
21:26
وَقَالُواۡ
And they say
Has taken
the Most Gracious
وَلَدًاۗ
a son
Glorified is He
بَلۡ
Nay
عِبَادٌ
(they are) slaves
honored
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they1 are [but] honored servants.
21:27
لَا
Not
يَسۡبِقُونَهُۥ
they (can) precede Him
بِٱ لۡقَوۡلِ
in word
وَهُم
and they
by His command
يَعۡمَلُو نَ
٢٧act
They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.
21:28
يَعۡلَمُ
He knows
مَا
what
بَيۡنَ
(is) before them
أَيۡدِيهِمۡ
(is) before them
وَمَا
and what
خَلۡفَهُمۡ
(is) behind them
وَلَا
and not
يَشۡفَعُونَ
they (can) intercede
إِلَّا
except
لِمَنِ
for whom
He approves
وَهُم
And they
from
خَشۡيَتِهِۦ
fear of Him
مُشۡفِقُو نَ
٢٨stand in awe
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them,1 and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.
21:29
۞وَمَن
And whoever
says
مِنۡهُمۡ
of them
إِنّ ِىٓ
Indeed, I am
إِلَـٰ هٌ
a god
besides Him
besides Him
فَذٰ لِكَ
Then that
نَجۡ زِيهِ
We will recompense
جَهَنّ َمَۚ
(with) Hell
كَذٰ لِكَ
Thus
نَجۡ زِى
We recompense
the wrongdoers
And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him" - that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.
21:30
أَوَلَمۡ
Do not
يَرَ
see
those who
كَفَرُوٓ اۡ
disbelieved
أَنّ َ
that
the heavens
وَٱ لۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
كَانَتَا
were
رَتۡقًا
a joined entity
then We parted them
وَجَعَلۡنَا
and We made
مِنَ
from
[the] water
كُلَّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
living thing
حَىٍّۖ
living thing
أَفَلَا
Then will not
يُؤۡمِنُو نَ
٣٠they believe
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?
21:31
وَجَعَلۡنَا
And We (have) placed
فِى
in
the earth
رَوٰ سِىَ
firmly set mountains
أَن
lest
it (should) shake
بِهِمۡ
with them
وَجَعَلۡنَا
and We made
فِيهَا
therein
فِجَاجًا
broad passes
(as) ways
so that they may
يَهۡتَدُو نَ
٣١(be) guided
And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.
21:32
وَجَعَلۡنَا
And We made
the sky
سَقۡ فًا
a roof
protected
But they
عَنۡ
from
ءَايَـٰ تِهَا
its Signs
مُعۡرِضُو نَ
٣٢turn away
And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs,1 are turning away.
21:33
وَهُوَ
And He
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
created
the night
وَٱ ل نّ َهَارَ
and the day
وَٱ ل شَّمۡسَ
and the sun
وَٱ لۡقَمَرَۖ
and the moon
كُلٌّ
each
in
فَلَكٍ
an orbit
floating
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.
21:34
وَمَا
And not
جَعَلۡنَا
We made
لِبَشَرٍ
for any man
before you
before you
[the] immortality
أَفَإِيۡ ن
so if
you die
فَهُمُ
then (would) they
live forever
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?
21:35
كُلُّ
Every
نَفۡسٍ
soul
(will) taste
[the] death
وَنَبۡ لُوكُم
And We test you
with [the] bad
وَٱ لۡخَيۡرِ
and [the] good
فِتۡنَةًۖ
(as) a trial
and to Us
تُرۡجَعُو نَ
٣٥you will be returned
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.
21:36
وَإِذَا
And when
رَءَاكَ
they see you
those who
كَفَرُوٓ اۡ
disbelieve
إِن
not
they take you
إِلَّا
except
هُزُوًا
(in) ridicule
أَهَـٰ ذَا
Is this
the one who
يَذۡكُرُ
mentions
ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ
your gods
وَهُم
And they
at (the) mention
(of) the Most Gracious
هُمۡ
[they]
كَـٰ فِرُو نَ
٣٦(are) disbelievers
And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who mentions [i.e., insults] your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.
21:37

٣٧ask Me to hasten
Man was created of haste [i.e., impatience]. I will show you My signs [i.e., vengeance], so do not impatiently urge Me.
21:38
وَيَقُولُونَ
And they say

If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...1
21:40
بَلۡ

٤٠will be given respite
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.
21:41
وَلَقَدِ
And verily
were mocked
بِرُسُلٍ
Messengers

before you

يَسۡتَهۡزِءُو نَ
٤١(to) mock
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
21:42

Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.
21:44

its borders
أَفَهُمُ
So is (it) they
(who will be) overcoming
But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders?1 Is it they who will overcome?
21:45
قُلۡ
Say

Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
21:46
وَلَئِن
And if

surely they will say
يَـٰ وَيۡلَنَآ
O woe to us
إِنّ َا
Indeed, we

[we] were
ظَـٰ لِمِي نَ
٤٦wrongdoers
And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."
21:47
وَنَضَعُ
And We set

٤٧(as) Reckoners
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed,1 We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.
21:48
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
ءَاتَيۡنَا
We gave
مُوسَىٰ
Musa

the Criterion

and a Reminder
for the righteous
And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder1 for the righteous
21:49
ٱلَّذِينَ

Who fear their Lord unseen,1 while they are of the Hour apprehensive.
21:50

And this [Qur’ān] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?1
21:51

When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"
21:53
قَالُواۡ
They said
وَجَدۡ نَآ
We found
ءَابَا ٓءَنَا

٥٣worshippers
They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."
21:54

He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."
21:55

٥٧turning (your) backs
And [I swear] by Allāh, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."
21:58
فَجَعَلَهُمۡ
So he made them

So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].
21:59
قَالُواۡ
They said

They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."
21:60
قَالُواۡ
They said

They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."
21:61

They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"
21:63

He said

He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."
21:64
فَرَجَعُوٓ اۡ
So they returned
إِلَىٰٓ

themselves
فَقَالُوٓ اۡ
and said
إِنّ َكُمۡ
Indeed, you
أَنت ُمُ

So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."
21:65
ثُمّ َ
Then

they were turned

They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."
21:69
قُلۡنَا
We said

Be

إِبۡ رٰ هِي مَ
٦٩Ibrahim
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."
21:70
وَأَرَادُواۡ
And they intended
بِهِۦ
for him
كَيۡدًا
a plan
but We made them

And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers.
21:71
وَنَجَّيۡنَـٰ هُ
And We delivered him
وَلُوطًا
and Lut
إِلَى
to
the land
which
بَـٰ رَكۡنَا
We (had) blessed
فِيهَا
[in it]
لِلۡعَـٰ لَمِي نَ
٧١for the worlds
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds [i.e., peoples].
21:72
وَوَهَبۡ نَا
And We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
on him
إِسۡحَـٰ قَ
Isaac
وَيَعۡقُوبَ
and Yaqub
نَافِلَةًۖ
(in) addition
and all
We made
صَـٰ لِحِي نَ
٧٢righteous
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.
21:73
وَجَعَلۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
And We made them
أَئِمّ َةً
leaders
they guide
بِأَمۡرِنَا
by Our Command
وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ
And We inspired
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
to them
فِعۡلَ

and establishment
(of) the prayer
وَإِيتَا ٓءَ
and giving
(of) zakah
وَكَانُواۡ
and they were
لَنَا
of Us
عَـٰ بِدِي نَ
٧٣worshippers
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakāh; and they were worshippers of Us.
21:74
وَلُوطًا
And (to) Lut
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰ هُ
We gave him
حُكۡمًا
judgment
and knowledge
and We saved him
مِنَ
from
the town
which

doing
wicked deeds
إِنّ َهُمۡ
Indeed, they
كَانُواۡ
were
قَوۡمَ
a people
سَوۡءٍ
evil
defiantly disobedient
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.
21:75
وَأَدۡ خَلۡنَـٰ هُ
And We admitted him
فِى
into
رَحۡمَتِنَآۖ
Our Mercy
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, he
مِنَ
(was) of
the righteous
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.
21:76
وَنُوحًا
And Nuh
إِذۡ
when
نَادَىٰ
he called
مِن
before
before
فَٱ سۡتَجَبۡ نَا
so We responded
لَهُۥ
to him
فَنَجَّيۡنَـٰ هُ
and We saved him
وَأَهۡلَهُۥ
and his family
مِنَ
from
the affliction
[the] great
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh]1 before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].
21:77
وَنَصَرۡنَـٰ هُ
And We helped him
مِنَ
from
the people
who
كَذَّبُواۡ

Our Signs
إِنّ َهُمۡ
Indeed, they

so We drowned them
أَجۡ مَعِي نَ
٧٧all
And We aided [i.e., saved] him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.
21:78
وَدَاوُۥ دَ
And Dawud
وَسُلَيۡمَـٰ نَ
and Sulaiman
إِذۡ
when
يَحۡكُمَانِ
they judged

concerning
the field
إِذۡ
when
نَفَشَتۡ

sheep
(of) a people
وَكُنّ َا
and We were
لِحُكۡمِهِمۡ
to their judgment
شَـٰ هِدِي نَ
٧٨witness
And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night],1 and We were witness to their judgement.
21:79
فَفَهَّمۡنَـٰ هَا
And We gave understanding of it
سُلَيۡمَـٰ نَۚ
(to) Sulaiman
وَكُلاًّ
and (to) each
ءَاتَيۡنَا
We gave
حُكۡمًا
judgment
and knowledge
And We subjected
مَعَ
with
دَاوُۥ دَ
Dawud
the mountains
يُسَبِّحۡنَ
(to) glorify Our praises
وَٱ ل طَّيۡرَۚ
and the birds
وَكُنّ َا
And We were
فَـٰ عِلِي نَ
٧٩the Doers
And We gave understanding of it [i.e., the case] to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].1
21:80
وَعَلَّمۡنَـٰ هُ
And We taught him
صَنۡعَةَ
(the) making
لَبُوسٍ
(of) coats of armor
for you
لِتُحۡصِنَكُم
to protect you
from
your battle
فَهَلۡ
Then will
أَنت ُمۡ
you
شَـٰ كِرُو نَ
٨٠(be) grateful
And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?
21:81
وَلِسُلَيۡمَـٰ نَ
And to Sulaiman
the wind
عَاصِفَةً
forcefully
blowing
بِأَمۡرِهِۦٓ
by his command
إِلَى
to
the land
which
بَـٰ رَكۡنَا
We blessed
فِيهَاۚ
[in it]
وَكُنّ َا
And We are
بِكُلِّ
of every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
عَـٰ لِمِي نَ
٨١Knowers
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.
21:82
وَمِنَ
And of
the devils
مَن
(were some) who
would dive
لَهُۥ
for him
وَيَعۡمَلُونَ
and would do
عَمَلاً
work
other than
ذٰ لِكَۖ
that
وَكُنّ َا
And We were
لَهُمۡ
of them
حَـٰ فِظِي نَ
٨٢Guardians
And of the devils [i.e., jinn] were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.1
21:83
۞وَأَيُّوبَ
And Ayub
إِذۡ
when
نَادَىٰ
he called
رَبَّهُۥٓ
(to) his Lord
أَنّ ِى
Indeed, [I]
مَسَّنِىَ
has touched me
the adversity
وَأَنت َ
and You
أَرۡحَمُ
(are) Most Merciful
(of) the Merciful
And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."
21:84
فَٱ سۡتَجَبۡ نَا
So We responded
لَهُۥ
to him
فَكَشَفۡنَا
and We removed
مَا
what
بِهِۦ
(was) on him
مِن
of
(the) adversity
And We gave him
أَهۡلَهُۥ
his family
وَمِثۡلَهُم
and (the) like thereof
with them
رَحۡمَةً
(as) Mercy
from Ourselves
عِند ِنَا
from Ourselves
وَذِكۡرَىٰ
and a reminder
لِلۡعَـٰ بِدِي نَ
٨٤for the worshippers
So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].
21:85
وَإِسۡمَـٰ عِيلَ
And Ishmael
وَإِدۡ رِيسَ
and Idris
وَذَا
and Dhul-Kifl
and Dhul-Kifl
كُلٌّ
all
(were) of
the patient ones
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.
21:86
وَأَدۡ خَلۡنَـٰ هُمۡ
And We admitted them
فِى
in
رَحۡمَتِنَآۖ
Our Mercy
إِنّ َهُم
Indeed, they
(were) of
the righteous
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.
21:87
وَذَا
And Dhun-Nun
And Dhun-Nun
إِذ
when
ذَّهَبَ
he went
مُغَـٰ ضِبًا
(while) angry
and thought
أَن
that
never
We would decree
عَلَيۡهِ
upon him
فَنَادَىٰ
Then he called
فِى
in
the darkness(es)
أَن
that
(There is) no
إِلَـٰ هَ
god
إِلَّآ
except
أَنت َ
You
سُبۡ حَـٰ نَكَ
Glory be to You
إِنّ ِى
Indeed, [I]
كُنت ُ
I am
مِنَ
of
the wrongdoers
And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger1 and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him.2 And he called out within the darknesses,3 "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."
21:88
فَٱ سۡتَجَبۡ نَا
So We responded
لَهُۥ
to him
وَنَجَّيۡنَـٰ هُ
and We saved him
مِنَ
from
the distress
وَكَذٰ لِكَ
And thus
نُـۨجِى
We save
the believers
So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.
21:89
وَزَكَرِيَّآ
And Zakariya
إِذۡ
when
نَادَىٰ
he called
رَبَّهُۥ
(to) his Lord
رَبِّ
My Lord
لَا
(Do) not
تَذَرۡنِى
leave me
فَرۡدًا
alone
while You
خَيۡرُ
(are) [the] Best
(of) the inheritors
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors."
21:90
فَٱ سۡتَجَبۡ نَا
So We responded
لَهُۥ
to him
وَوَهَبۡ نَا
and We bestowed
لَهُۥ
on him
يَحۡيَىٰ
Yahya
وَأَصۡلَحۡنَا
and We cured
لَهُۥ
for him
زَوۡجَهُۥٓۚ
his wife
إِنّ َهُمۡ
Indeed, they
كَانُواۡ
used (to)
يُسَـٰ رِعُونَ
hasten
فِى
in
good deeds
وَيَدۡ عُونَنَا
and they supplicate to Us
رَغَبًا
(in) hope
and fear
and they were
لَنَا
to Us
خَـٰ شِعِي نَ
٩٠humbly submissive
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate1 Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.
21:91
وَٱ لَّتِىٓ
And she who
أَحۡصَنَتۡ
guarded
فَرۡجَهَا
her chastity
فَنَفَخۡنَا
so We breathed
فِيهَا
into her
مِن
of
Our Spirit
وَجَعَلۡنَـٰ هَا
and We made her
وَٱ بۡ نَهَآ
and her son
ءَايَةً
a sign
for the worlds
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity [i.e., Mary], so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.
21:92
إِنّ َ
Indeed
هَـٰ ذِهِۦٓ
this
أُمّ َتُكُمۡ
(is) your religion
أُمّ َةً
religion
one
and I Am
رَبُّكُمۡ
your Lord
فَٱ عۡبُدُو نِ
٩٢so worship Me
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
21:93
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓ اۡ
But they cut off
أَمۡرَهُم
their affair
among themselves
كُلٌّ
all
إِلَيۡنَا
to Us
رٰ جِعُو نَ
٩٣(will) return
And [yet] they divided their affair [i.e., that of their religion] among themselves,1 [but] all to Us will return.
21:94
فَمَن
Then whoever
does
مِنَ
[of]
[the] righteous deeds
وَهُوَ
while he
مُؤۡمِنٌ
(is) a believer
then not
كُفۡرَانَ
(will be) rejected
لِسَعۡيِهِۦ
[of] his effort
وَإِنّ َا
And indeed, We
لَهُۥ
of it
كَـٰ تِبُو نَ
٩٤(are) Recorders
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort,1 and indeed We [i.e., Our angels], of it, are recorders.
21:95
وَحَرٰ مٌ
And (there is) prohibition
عَلَىٰ
upon
قَرۡيَةٍ
a city
أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰ هَآ
which We have destroyed
أَنّ َهُمۡ
that they
لَا
not
يَرۡجِعُو نَ
٩٥will return
And it is prohibited to [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return1
21:96
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
فُتِحَتۡ
has been opened
يَأۡجُوجُ
(for) the Yajuj
وَمَأۡجُوجُ
and Majuj
وَهُم
and they
from
every
حَدَبٍ
elevation
descend
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend
21:97
وَٱ قۡ تَرَبَ
And has approached
the promise
[the] true
فَإِذَا
then behold
هِىَ
[it]
شَـٰ خِصَةٌ
(are) staring
أَبۡ صَـٰ رُ
(the) eyes
(of) those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
يَـٰ وَيۡلَنَا
O woe to us
قَدۡ
Verily
كُنّ َا
we had been
فِى
in
غَفۡلَةٍ
heedlessness
of
هَـٰ ذَا
this
بَلۡ
nay
كُنّ َا
we were
ظَـٰ لِمِي نَ
٩٧wrongdoers
And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."
21:98
إِنّ َكُمۡ
Indeed, you
وَمَا
and what
تَعۡبُدُونَ
you worship
مِن
besides Allah
besides Allah
besides Allah
حَصَبُ
(are) firewood
جَهَنّ َمَ
(of) Hell
أَنت ُمۡ
You
لَهَا
to it
وٰ رِدُو نَ
٩٨will come
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.
21:99
لَوۡ
If
كَانَ
were
هَـٰٓ ؤُلَا ٓءِ
these
ءَالِهَةً
gods
not
وَرَدُوهَاۖ
they (would) have come to it
وَكُلٌّ
And all
therein
خَـٰ لِدُو نَ
٩٩will abide forever
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.
21:100
لَهُمۡ
For them
فِيهَا
therein
زَفِيرٌ
(is) sighing
and they
فِيهَا
therein
لَا
not
يَسۡمَعُو نَ
١٠٠will hear
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.
21:101
إِنّ َ
Indeed
those
سَبَقَتۡ
has gone forth
لَهُم
for them
from Us
the good
أُوۡ لَـٰٓ ئِكَ
those
عَنۡهَا
from it
مُبۡ عَدُو نَ
١٠١(will be) removed far
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.
21:102
لَا
Not
يَسۡمَعُونَ
they will hear
حَسِيسَهَاۖ
(the) slightest sound of it
وَهُمۡ
and they
فِى
in
مَا
what
desire
أَنف ُسُهُمۡ
their souls
خَـٰ لِدُو نَ
١٠٢will abide forever
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.
21:103
لَا
Not
يَحۡزُنُهُمُ
will grieve them
the terror
[the] greatest
وَتَتَلَقَّـٰ هُمُ
and will meet them
the Angels
هَـٰ ذَا
This
يَوۡمُكُمُ
(is) your Day
which
كُنت ُمۡ
you were
تُوعَدُو نَ
١٠٣promised
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror,1 and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -
21:104
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
نَطۡ وِى
We will fold
the heaven
كَطَىِّ
like (the) folding
(of) a scroll
لِلۡكُتُبِۚ
for records
كَمَا
As
بَدَأۡنَآ
We began
أَوَّلَ
(the) first
خَلۡقٍ
creation
We will repeat it
وَعۡدًا
a promise
عَلَيۡنَآۚ
upon Us
إِنّ َا
Indeed, We
كُنّ َا
We are
فَـٰ عِلِي نَ
١٠٤(the) Doers
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.1
21:105
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
كَتَبۡ نَا
We have written
فِى
in
the Scripture
مِنۢ
after
after
the mention
أَنّ َ
that
the earth
يَرِثُهَا
will inherit it
عِبَادِىَ
My slaves
the righteous
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms]1 after the [previous] mention2 that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.
21:106
إِنّ َ
Indeed
فِى
in
هَـٰ ذَا
this
لَبَلَـٰ غًا
surely is a Message
for a people
عَـٰ بِدِي نَ
١٠٦worshippers
Indeed, in this [Qur’ān] is notification for a worshipping people.
21:107
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰ كَ
We have sent you
إِلَّا
but
رَحۡمَةً
(as) a mercy
for the worlds
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
21:108
قُلۡ
Say
إِنّ َمَا
Only
يُوحَىٰٓ
it is revealed
إِلَىَّ
to me
أَنّ َمَآ
that
إِلَـٰ هُكُمۡ
your god
إِلَـٰ هٌ
(is) God
One
so will
أَنت ُم
you
submit (to Him)
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"
21:109
فَإِن
But if
they turn away
فَقُلۡ
then say
ءَاذَنت ُكُمۡ
I (have) announced to you
عَلَىٰ
equally
سَوَا ٓءٍۖ
equally
And not
أَدۡ رِىٓ
I know
أَقَرِيبٌ
whether is near
أَم
or
far
what
تُوعَدُو نَ
١٠٩you are promised
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally.1 And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.
21:110
إِنّ َهُۥ
Indeed, He
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
the declared
مِنَ
[of]
[the] speech
وَيَعۡلَمُ
and He knows
مَا
what
تَكۡتُمُو نَ
١١٠you conceal
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.
21:111
وَإِنۡ
And not
أَدۡ رِى
I know
لَعَلَّهُۥ
perhaps it may be
فِتۡنَةٌ
a trial
for you
وَمَتَـٰ عٌ
and an enjoyment
إِلَىٰ
for
حِي نٍ
١١١a time
And I know not; perhaps it1 is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."
21:112
قَـٰ لَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
judge
in truth
وَرَبُّنَا
And our Lord
(is) the Most Gracious
the One Whose help is sought
عَلَىٰ
against
مَا
what
تَصِفُو نَ
١١٢you attribute
[The Prophet (ﷺ)] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."1
