حمٓ
Ha Meem
١
Ḥā, Meem.1
46:2
تَنزِيلُ
(The) revelation
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ
(of) the Book
مِنَ
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمِ
the All-Wise
٢
The revelation of the Book is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
46:3
مَا
Not
خَلَقۡنَا
We created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَمَا
and what
بَيۡنَهُمَآ
(is) between both of them
إِلَّا
except
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَأَجَلٍ
and (for) a term
مُّسَمًّى‌ۚ
appointed
وَٱلَّذِينَ
But those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
عَمَّآ
from what
أُنذِرُواۡ
they are warned
مُعۡرِضُونَ
(are) turning away
٣
We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that of which they are warned, are turning away.
46:4
قُلۡ
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُم
Do you see
مَّا
what
تَدۡعُونَ
you call
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
أَرُونِى
Show me
مَاذَا
what
خَلَقُواۡ
they have created
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
أَمۡ
or
لَهُمۡ
for them
شِرۡكٌ
(is) any share
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ‌ۖ
the heavens
ٱئۡتُونِى
Bring me
بِكِتَـٰبٍ
a book
مِّن
from
قَبۡلِ
before
هَـٰذَآ
this
أَوۡ
or
أَثَـٰرَةٍ
a trace
مِّنۡ
of
عِلۡمٍ
knowledge
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
truthful
٤
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful."
46:5
وَمَنۡ
And who
أَضَلُّ
(is) more astray
مِمَّن
than (he) who
يَدۡعُواۡ
calls
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَن
who
لَّا
will not respond
يَسۡتَجِيبُ
will not respond
لَهُۥٓ
to him
إِلَىٰ
until
يَوۡمِ
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) Resurrection
وَهُمۡ
and they
عَن
of
دُعَآئِهِمۡ
their calls
غَـٰفِلُونَ
(are) unaware
٥
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allāh those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection [i.e., never], and they, of their invocation, are unaware.
46:6
وَإِذَا
And when
حُشِرَ
are gathered
ٱلنَّاسُ
the people
كَانُواۡ
they will be
لَهُمۡ
for them
أَعۡدَآءً
enemies
وَكَانُواۡ
and they will be
بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ
of their worship
كَـٰفِرِينَ
deniers
٦
And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.
46:7
وَإِذَا
And when
تُتۡلَىٰ
are recited
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
to them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
Our Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
clear
قَالَ
say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
لِلۡحَقِّ
of the truth
لَمَّا
when
جَآءَهُمۡ
it comes to them
هَـٰذَا
This
سِحۡرٌ
(is) a magic
مُّبِينٌ
clear
٧
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is obvious magic."
46:8
أَمۡ
Or
يَقُولُونَ
they say
ٱفۡتَرَٮٰهُ‌ۖ
He has invented it
قُلۡ
Say
إِنِ
If
ٱفۡتَرَيۡتُهُۥ
I have invented it
فَلَا
then not
تَمۡلِكُونَ
you have power
لِى
for me
مِنَ
against
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
شَيۡــًٔا‌ۖ
anything
هُوَ
He
أَعۡلَمُ
knows best
بِمَا
of what
تُفِيضُونَ
you utter
فِيهِ‌ۖ
concerning it
كَفَىٰ
Sufficient is He
بِهِۦ
Sufficient is He
شَهِيدَۢا
(as) a Witness
بَيۡنِى
between me
وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ‌ۖ
and between you
وَهُوَ
and He
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
٨
Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allāh at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved.1 Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
46:9
قُلۡ
Say
مَا
Not
كُنتُ
I am
بِدۡعًا
a new (one)
مِّنَ
among
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the Messengers
وَمَآ
and not
أَدۡرِى
I know
مَا
what
يُفۡعَلُ
will be done
بِى
with me
وَلَا
and not
بِكُمۡ‌ۖ
with you
إِنۡ
Not
أَتَّبِعُ
I follow
إِلَّا
but
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
is revealed
إِلَىَّ
to me
وَمَآ
and not
أَنَاۡ
I am
إِلَّا
but
نَذِيرٌ
a warner
مُّبِينٌ
clear
٩
Say, "I am not something original among the messengers,1 nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."
46:10
قُلۡ
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ
Do you see
إِن
if
كَانَ
it is
مِنۡ
from Allah
عِندِ
from Allah
ٱللَّهِ
from Allah
وَكَفَرۡتُم
and you disbelieve
بِهِۦ
in it
وَشَهِدَ
and testifies
شَاهِدٌ
a witness
مِّنۢ
from
بَنِىٓ
(the) Children of Israel
إِسۡرٰٓءِيلَ
(the) Children of Israel
عَلَىٰ
to
مِثۡلِهِۦ
(the) like thereof
فَـَٔـامَنَ
then he believed
وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ‌ۖ
while you are arrogant
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
١٠
Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Qur’ān] was from Allāh, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar1 and believed while you were arrogant...?"2 Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
46:11
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
لِلَّذِينَ
of those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
لَوۡ
If
كَانَ
it had been
خَيۡرًا
good
مَّا
not
سَبَقُونَآ
they (would) have preceded us
إِلَيۡهِ‌ۚ
to it
وَإِذۡ
And when
لَمۡ
not
يَهۡتَدُواۡ
they (are) guided
بِهِۦ
by it
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
they say
هَـٰذَآ
This
إِفۡكٌ
(is) a lie
قَدِيمٌ
ancient
١١
And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it." And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood."
46:12
وَمِن
And before it
قَبۡلِهِۦ
And before it
كِتَـٰبُ
(was the) Scripture
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
إِمَامًا
(as) a guide
وَرَحۡمَةً‌ۚ
and a mercy
وَهَـٰذَا
And this
كِتَـٰبٌ
(is) a Book
مُّصَدِّقٌ
confirming
لِّسَانًا
(in) language
عَرَبِيًّا
Arabic
لِّيُنذِرَ
to warn
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
do wrong
وَبُشۡرَىٰ
and (as) glad tidings
لِلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
for the good-doers
١٢
And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good.
46:13
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
قَالُواۡ
say
رَبُّنَا
Our Lord
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
ثُمَّ
then
ٱسۡتَقَـٰمُواۡ
remain firm
فَلَا
then no
خَوۡفٌ
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
on them
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
will grieve
١٣
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allāh," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.
46:14
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
(of) Paradise
خَـٰلِدِينَ
abiding forever
فِيهَا
therein
جَزَآءَۢ
a reward
بِمَا
for what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
١٤
Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do.
46:15
وَوَصَّيۡنَا
And We have enjoined
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
(on) man
بِوٰلِدَيۡهِ
to his parents
إِحۡسَـٰنًا‌ۖ
kindness
حَمَلَتۡهُ
Carried him
أُمُّهُۥ
his mother
كُرۡهًا
(with) hardship
وَوَضَعَتۡهُ
and gave birth to him
كُرۡهًا‌ۖ
(with) hardship
وَحَمۡلُهُۥ
And (the) bearing of him
وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ
and (the) weaning of him
ثَلَـٰثُونَ
(is) thirty
شَهۡرًا‌ۚ
month(s)
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
بَلَغَ
he reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ
his maturity
وَبَلَغَ
and reaches
أَرۡبَعِينَ
forty
سَنَةً
year(s)
قَالَ
he says
رَبِّ
My Lord
أَوۡزِعۡنِىٓ
grant me (the) power
أَنۡ
that
أَشۡكُرَ
I may be grateful
نِعۡمَتَكَ
(for) Your favor
ٱلَّتِىٓ
which
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
You have bestowed
عَلَىَّ
upon me
وَعَلَىٰ
and upon
وٰلِدَىَّ
my parents
وَأَنۡ
and that
أَعۡمَلَ
I do
صَـٰلِحًا
righteous (deeds)
تَرۡضَـٰهُ
which please You
وَأَصۡلِحۡ
and make righteous
لِى
for me
فِى
among
ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ‌ۖ
my offspring
إِنِّى
indeed
تُبۡتُ
I turn
إِلَيۡكَ
to You
وَإِنِّى
and indeed, I am
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
those who submit
١٥
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me1 to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."
46:16
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
نَتَقَبَّلُ
We will accept
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
أَحۡسَنَ
(the) best
مَا
(of) what
عَمِلُواۡ
they did
وَنَتَجَاوَزُ
and We will overlook
عَن
[from]
سَيِّـَٔـاتِهِمۡ
their evil deeds
فِىٓ
among
أَصۡحَـٰبِ
(the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ‌ۖ
(of) Paradise
وَعۡدَ
A promise
ٱلصِّدۡقِ
true
ٱلَّذِى
which
كَانُواۡ
they were
يُوعَدُونَ
promised
١٦
Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.
46:17
وَٱلَّذِى
But the one who
قَالَ
says
لِوٰلِدَيۡهِ
to his parents
أُفٍّ
Uff
لَّكُمَآ
to both of you
أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ
Do you promise me
أَنۡ
that
أُخۡرَجَ
I will be brought forth
وَقَدۡ
and have already passed away
خَلَتِ
and have already passed away
ٱلۡقُرُونُ
the generations
مِن
before me
قَبۡلِى
before me
وَهُمَا
And they both
يَسۡتَغِيثَانِ
seek help
ٱللَّهَ
(of) Allah
وَيۡلَكَ
Woe to you
ءَامِنۡ
Believe
إِنَّ
Indeed
وَعۡدَ
(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
حَقٌّ
(is) true
فَيَقُولُ
But he says
مَا
Not
هَـٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّآ
but
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
(the) stories
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)
١٧
But one who says to his parents, "Uff1 to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allāh for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples" -
46:18
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
حَقَّ
(has) proved true
عَلَيۡهِمُ
against them
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
the word
فِىٓ
among
أُمَمٍ
nations
قَدۡ
(that) already passed away
خَلَتۡ
(that) already passed away
مِن
before them
قَبۡلِهِم
before them
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡجِنِّ
(the) jinn
وَٱلۡإِنسِ‌ۖ
and the men
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
كَانُواۡ
are
خَـٰسِرِينَ
(the) losers
١٨
Those are the ones upon whom the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.
46:19
وَلِكُلٍّ
And for all
دَرَجَـٰتٌ
(are) degrees
مِّمَّا
for what
عَمِلُواۡ‌ۖ
they did
وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمۡ
and that He may fully compensate them
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
(for) their deeds
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
will not be wronged
يُظۡلَمُونَ
will not be wronged
١٩
And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.
46:20
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يُعۡرَضُ
will be exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
عَلَى
to
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
أَذۡهَبۡتُمۡ
You exhausted
طَيِّبَـٰتِكُمۡ
your good things
فِى
in
حَيَاتِكُمُ
your life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
وَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم
and you took your pleasures
بِهَا
therein
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ
So today
تُجۡزَوۡنَ
you will be recompensed
عَذَابَ
(with) a punishment
ٱلۡهُونِ
humiliating
بِمَا
because
كُنتُمۡ
you were
تَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
arrogant
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
بِغَيۡرِ
without
ٱلۡحَقِّ
[the] right
وَبِمَا
and because
كُنتُمۡ
you were
تَفۡسُقُونَ
defiantly disobedient
٢٠
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "You exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation because you were arrogant upon the earth without right and because you were defiantly disobedient."
46:21
۞وَٱذۡكُرۡ
And mention
أَخَا
(the) brother
عَادٍ
(of) Aad
إِذۡ
when
أَنذَرَ
he warned
قَوۡمَهُۥ
his people
بِٱلۡأَحۡقَافِ
in the Al-Ahqaf
وَقَدۡ
and had already passed away
خَلَتِ
and had already passed away
ٱلنُّذُرُ
[the] warners
مِنۢ
before him
بَيۡنِ
before him
يَدَيۡهِ
before him
وَمِنۡ
and after him
خَلۡفِهِۦٓ
and after him
أَلَّا
That not
تَعۡبُدُوٓاۡ
you worship
إِلَّا
except
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed, I
أَخَافُ
[I] fear
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
for you
عَذَابَ
a punishment
يَوۡمٍ
(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍ
Great
٢١
And mention, [O Muḥammad], the brother of ʿAad,1 when he warned his people in [the region of] al-Aḥqāf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allāh. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."2
46:22
قَالُوٓاۡ
They said
أَجِئۡتَنَا
Have you come to us
لِتَأۡفِكَنَا
to turn us away
عَنۡ
from
ءَالِهَتِنَا
our gods
فَأۡتِنَا
Then bring us
بِمَا
what
تَعِدُنَآ
you threaten us
إِن
if
كُنتَ
you are
مِنَ
of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
٢٢
They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."
46:23
قَالَ
He said
إِنَّمَا
Only
ٱلۡعِلۡمُ
the knowledge
عِندَ
(is) with Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(is) with Allah
وَأُبَلِّغُكُم
and I convey to you
مَّآ
what
أُرۡسِلۡتُ
I am sent
بِهِۦ
with it
وَلَـٰكِنِّىٓ
but
أَرَٮٰكُمۡ
I see you
قَوۡمًا
a people
تَجۡهَلُونَ
ignorant
٢٣
He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with Allāh, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly."
46:24
فَلَمَّا
Then when
رَأَوۡهُ
they saw it
عَارِضًا
(as) a cloud
مُّسۡتَقۡبِلَ
approaching
أَوۡدِيَتِهِمۡ
their valleys
قَالُواۡ
they said
هَـٰذَا
This
عَارِضٌ
(is) a cloud
مُّمۡطِرُنَا‌ۚ
bringing us rain
بَلۡ
Nay
هُوَ
it
مَا
(is) what
ٱسۡتَعۡجَلۡتُم
you were asking it to be hastened
بِهِۦ‌ۖ
you were asking it to be hastened
رِيحٌ
a wind
فِيهَا
in it
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
٢٤
And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient:1 a wind, within it a painful punishment,
46:25
تُدَمِّرُ
Destroying
كُلَّ
every
شَىۡءِۭ
thing
بِأَمۡرِ
by (the) command
رَبِّهَا
(of) its Lord
فَأَصۡبَحُواۡ
Then they became (such)
لَا
not
يُرَىٰٓ
is seen
إِلَّا
except
مَسَـٰكِنُهُمۡ‌ۚ
their dwellings
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
نَجۡزِى
We recompense
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
[the] criminals
٢٥
Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
46:26
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
مَكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ
We had established them
فِيمَآ
in what
إِن
not
مَّكَّنَّـٰكُمۡ
We have established you
فِيهِ
in it
وَجَعَلۡنَا
and We made
لَهُمۡ
for them
سَمۡعًا
hearing
وَأَبۡصَـٰرًا
and vision
وَأَفۡــِٔدَةً
and hearts
فَمَآ
But not
أَغۡنَىٰ
availed
عَنۡهُمۡ
them
سَمۡعُهُمۡ
their hearing
وَلَآ
and not
أَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ
their vision
وَلَآ
and not
أَفۡــِٔدَتُهُم
their hearts
مِّن
any
شَىۡءٍ
thing
إِذۡ
when
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَجۡحَدُونَ
rejecting
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَحَاقَ
and enveloped
بِهِم
them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
بِهِۦ
[at it]
يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
ridicule
٢٦
And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allāh; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
46:27
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
We destroyed
مَا
what
حَوۡلَكُم
surrounds you
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡقُرَىٰ
the towns
وَصَرَّفۡنَا
and We have diversified
ٱلۡأَيَـٰتِ
the Signs
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
that they may
يَرۡجِعُونَ
return
٢٧
And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].
46:28
فَلَوۡلَا
Then why (did) not
نَصَرَهُمُ
help them
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
ٱتَّخَذُواۡ
they had taken
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
قُرۡبَانًا
gods as a way of approach
ءَالِهَةَۢ‌ۖ
gods as a way of approach
بَلۡ
Nay
ضَلُّواۡ
they were lost
عَنۡهُمۡ‌ۚ
from them
وَذٰلِكَ
And that
إِفۡكُهُمۡ
(was) their falsehood
وَمَا
and what
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَفۡتَرُونَ
inventing
٢٨
Then why did those they took besides Allāh as deities by which to approach [Him]1 not aid them? But they had strayed [i.e., departed] from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing.
46:29
وَإِذۡ
And when
صَرَفۡنَآ
We directed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
نَفَرًا
a party
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡجِنِّ
the jinn
يَسۡتَمِعُونَ
listening
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
(to) the Quran
فَلَمَّا
And when
حَضَرُوهُ
they attended it
قَالُوٓاۡ
they said
أَنصِتُواۡ‌ۖ
Listen quietly
فَلَمَّا
And when
قُضِىَ
it was concluded
وَلَّوۡاۡ
they turned back
إِلَىٰ
to
قَوۡمِهِم
their people
مُّنذِرِينَ
(as) warners
٢٩
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur’ān. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen attentively." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.
46:30
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰقَوۡمَنَآ
O our people
إِنَّا
Indeed, we
سَمِعۡنَا
[we] have heard
كِتَـٰبًا
a Book
أُنزِلَ
revealed
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
مُوسَىٰ
Musa
مُصَدِّقًا
confirming
لِّمَا
what
بَيۡنَ
(was) before it
يَدَيۡهِ
(was) before it
يَهۡدِىٓ
guiding
إِلَى
to
ٱلۡحَقِّ
the truth
وَإِلَىٰ
and to
طَرِيقٍ
a Path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ
Straight
٣٠
They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.
46:31
يَـٰقَوۡمَنَآ
O our people
أَجِيبُواۡ
Respond
دَاعِىَ
(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَءَامِنُواۡ
and believe
بِهِۦ
in him
يَغۡفِرۡ
He will forgive
لَكُم
for you
مِّن
of
ذُنُوبِكُمۡ
your sins
وَيُجِرۡكُم
and will protect you
مِّنۡ
from
عَذَابٍ
a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
painful
٣١
O our people, respond to the Caller [i.e., Messenger] of Allāh1 and believe in him; He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.
46:32
وَمَن
And whoever
لَّا
(does) not
يُجِبۡ
respond
دَاعِىَ
(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
فَلَيۡسَ
then not
بِمُعۡجِزٍ
he can escape
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
وَلَيۡسَ
and not
لَهُۥ
for him
مِن
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
أَوۡلِيَآءُ‌ۚ
protectors
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
فِى
(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
error
مُّبِينٍ
clear
٣٢
But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allāh will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error."
46:33
أَوَلَمۡ
Do not
يَرَوۡاۡ
they see
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَلَمۡ
and (was) not
يَعۡىَ
tired
بِخَلۡقِهِنَّ
by their creation
بِقَـٰدِرٍ
(is) able
عَلَىٰٓ
to give life
أَن
to give life
يُحۡــِۧىَ
to give life
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ‌ۚ
(to) the dead
بَلَىٰٓ
Yes
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed He
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
كُلِّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
قَدِيرٌ
All-Powerful
٣٣
Do they not see that Allāh, who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent.
46:34
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يُعۡرَضُ
are exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
عَلَى
to
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
أَلَيۡسَ
Is not
هَـٰذَا
this
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۖ
the truth
قَالُواۡ
They will say
بَلَىٰ
Yes
وَرَبِّنَا‌ۚ
by our Lord
قَالَ
He will say
فَذُوقُواۡ
Then taste
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
the punishment
بِمَا
because
كُنتُمۡ
you used to
تَكۡفُرُونَ
disbelieve
٣٤
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will say, "Then taste the punishment for what you used to deny."1
46:35
فَٱصۡبِرۡ
So be patient
كَمَا
as
صَبَرَ
had patience
أُوۡلُواۡ
those of determination
ٱلۡعَزۡمِ
those of determination
مِنَ
of
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the Messengers
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَسۡتَعۡجِل
seek to hasten
لَّهُمۡ‌ۚ
for them
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
As if they had
يَوۡمَ
(the) Day
يَرَوۡنَ
they see
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
they were promised
لَمۡ
not
يَلۡبَثُوٓاۡ
remained
إِلَّا
except
سَاعَةً
an hour
مِّن
of
نَّهَارِۭ‌ۚ
a day
بَلَـٰغٌ‌ۚ
A notification
فَهَلۡ
But will
يُهۡلَكُ
(any) be destroyed
إِلَّا
except
ٱلۡقَوۡمُ
the people
ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ
the defiantly disobedient
٣٥
So be patient, [O Muḥammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them.1 It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?
