46:1
حمٓ
Ha Meem
١
Ḥā, Meem.1
46:2
تَنزِيلُ
(The) revelation
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ
(of) the Book
مِنَ
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمِ
the All-Wise
٢
The revelation of the Book is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
46:3
مَا
Not
خَلَقۡنَا
We created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَمَا
and what
بَيۡنَهُمَآ
(is) between both of them
إِلَّا
except
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
وَأَجَلٍ
and (for) a term
مُّسَمًّى‌ۚ
appointed
وَٱلَّذِينَ
But those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
عَمَّآ
from what
أُنذِرُواۡ
they are warned
مُعۡرِضُونَ
(are) turning away
٣
We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that of which they are warned, are turning away.
46:4
قُلۡ
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُم
Do you see
مَّا
what
تَدۡعُونَ
you call
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
أَرُونِى
Show me
مَاذَا
what
خَلَقُواۡ
they have created
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
أَمۡ
or
لَهُمۡ
for them
شِرۡكٌ
(is) any share
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ‌ۖ
the heavens
ٱئۡتُونِى
Bring me
بِكِتَـٰبٍ
a book
مِّن
from
قَبۡلِ
before
هَـٰذَآ
this
أَوۡ
or
أَثَـٰرَةٍ
a trace
مِّنۡ
of
عِلۡمٍ
knowledge
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
truthful
٤
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful."
46:5
وَمَنۡ
And who
أَضَلُّ
(is) more astray
مِمَّن
than (he) who
يَدۡعُواۡ
calls
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَن
who
لَّا
will not respond
يَسۡتَجِيبُ
will not respond
لَهُۥٓ
to him
إِلَىٰ
until
يَوۡمِ
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) Resurrection
وَهُمۡ
and they
عَن
of
دُعَآئِهِمۡ
their calls
غَـٰفِلُونَ
(are) unaware
٥
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allāh those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection [i.e., never], and they, of their invocation, are unaware.
46:6
وَإِذَا
And when
حُشِرَ
are gathered
ٱلنَّاسُ
the people
كَانُواۡ
they will be
لَهُمۡ
for them
أَعۡدَآءً
enemies
وَكَانُواۡ
and they will be
بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ
of their worship
كَـٰفِرِينَ
deniers
٦
And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.
46:7
وَإِذَا
And when
تُتۡلَىٰ
are recited
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
to them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
Our Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
clear
قَالَ
say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
لِلۡحَقِّ
of the truth
لَمَّا
when
جَآءَهُمۡ
it comes to them
هَـٰذَا
This
سِحۡرٌ
(is) a magic
مُّبِينٌ
clear
٧
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is obvious magic."
46:8
أَمۡ
Or
يَقُولُونَ
they say
ٱفۡتَرَٮٰهُ‌ۖ
He has invented it
قُلۡ
Say
إِنِ
If
ٱفۡتَرَيۡتُهُۥ
I have invented it
فَلَا
then not
تَمۡلِكُونَ
you have power
لِى
for me
مِنَ
against
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
شَيۡــًٔا‌ۖ
anything
هُوَ
He
أَعۡلَمُ
knows best
بِمَا
of what
تُفِيضُونَ
you utter
فِيهِ‌ۖ
concerning it
كَفَىٰ
Sufficient is He
بِهِۦ
Sufficient is He
شَهِيدَۢا
(as) a Witness
بَيۡنِى
between me
وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ‌ۖ
and between you
وَهُوَ
and He
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
٨
Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allāh at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved.1 Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
46:9
قُلۡ
Say
مَا
Not
كُنتُ
I am
بِدۡعًا
a new (one)
مِّنَ
among
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the Messengers
وَمَآ
and not
أَدۡرِى
I know
مَا
what
يُفۡعَلُ
will be done
بِى
with me
وَلَا
and not
بِكُمۡ‌ۖ
with you
إِنۡ
Not
أَتَّبِعُ
I follow
إِلَّا
but
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
is revealed
إِلَىَّ
to me
وَمَآ
and not
أَنَاۡ
I am
إِلَّا
but
نَذِيرٌ
a warner
مُّبِينٌ
clear
٩
Say, "I am not something original among the messengers,1 nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."
46:10
قُلۡ
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ
Do you see
إِن
if
كَانَ
it is
مِنۡ
from Allah
عِندِ
from Allah
ٱللَّهِ
from Allah
وَكَفَرۡتُم
and you disbelieve
بِهِۦ
in it
وَشَهِدَ
and testifies
شَاهِدٌ
a witness
مِّنۢ
from
بَنِىٓ
(the) Children of Israel
إِسۡرٰٓءِيلَ
(the) Children of Israel
عَلَىٰ
to
مِثۡلِهِۦ
(the) like thereof
فَـَٔـامَنَ
then he believed
وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ‌ۖ
while you are arrogant
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهۡدِى
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
١٠
Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Qur’ān] was from Allāh, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar1 and believed while you were arrogant...?"2 Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
46:11
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
لِلَّذِينَ
of those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
لَوۡ
If
كَانَ
it had been
خَيۡرًا
good
مَّا
not
سَبَقُونَآ
they (would) have preceded us
إِلَيۡهِ‌ۚ
to it
وَإِذۡ
And when
لَمۡ
not
يَهۡتَدُواۡ
they (are) guided
بِهِۦ
by it
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
they say
هَـٰذَآ
This
إِفۡكٌ
(is) a lie
قَدِيمٌ
ancient
١١
And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it." And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood."
46:12
وَمِن
And before it
قَبۡلِهِۦ
And before it
كِتَـٰبُ
(was the) Scripture
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
إِمَامًا
(as) a guide
وَرَحۡمَةً‌ۚ
and a mercy
وَهَـٰذَا
And this
كِتَـٰبٌ
(is) a Book
مُّصَدِّقٌ
confirming
لِّسَانًا
(in) language
عَرَبِيًّا
Arabic
لِّيُنذِرَ
to warn
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ظَلَمُواۡ
do wrong
وَبُشۡرَىٰ
and (as) glad tidings
لِلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
for the good-doers
١٢
And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good.
46:13
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
قَالُواۡ
say
رَبُّنَا
Our Lord
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
ثُمَّ
then
ٱسۡتَقَـٰمُواۡ
remain firm
فَلَا
then no
خَوۡفٌ
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
on them
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
will grieve
١٣
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allāh," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.
46:14
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
(of) Paradise
خَـٰلِدِينَ
abiding forever
فِيهَا
therein
جَزَآءَۢ
a reward
بِمَا
for what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do
١٤
Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do.
46:15
وَوَصَّيۡنَا
And We have enjoined
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
(on) man
بِوٰلِدَيۡهِ
to his parents
إِحۡسَـٰنًا‌ۖ
kindness
حَمَلَتۡهُ
Carried him
أُمُّهُۥ
his mother
كُرۡهًا
(with) hardship
وَوَضَعَتۡهُ
and gave birth to him
كُرۡهًا‌ۖ
(with) hardship
وَحَمۡلُهُۥ
And (the) bearing of him
وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ
and (the) weaning of him
ثَلَـٰثُونَ
(is) thirty
شَهۡرًا‌ۚ
month(s)
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
بَلَغَ
he reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ
his maturity
وَبَلَغَ
and reaches
أَرۡبَعِينَ
forty
سَنَةً
year(s)
قَالَ
he says
رَبِّ
My Lord
أَوۡزِعۡنِىٓ
grant me (the) power
أَنۡ
that
أَشۡكُرَ
I may be grateful
نِعۡمَتَكَ
(for) Your favor
ٱلَّتِىٓ
which
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
You have bestowed
عَلَىَّ
upon me
وَعَلَىٰ
and upon
وٰلِدَىَّ
my parents
وَأَنۡ
and that
أَعۡمَلَ
I do
صَـٰلِحًا
righteous (deeds)
تَرۡضَـٰهُ
which please You
وَأَصۡلِحۡ
and make righteous
لِى
for me
فِى
among
ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ‌ۖ
my offspring
إِنِّى
indeed
تُبۡتُ
I turn
إِلَيۡكَ
to You
وَإِنِّى
and indeed, I am
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
those who submit
١٥
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me1 to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."
46:16
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
نَتَقَبَّلُ
We will accept
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
أَحۡسَنَ
(the) best
مَا
(of) what
عَمِلُواۡ
they did
وَنَتَجَاوَزُ
and We will overlook
عَن
[from]
سَيِّـَٔـاتِهِمۡ
their evil deeds
فِىٓ
among
أَصۡحَـٰبِ
(the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ‌ۖ
(of) Paradise
وَعۡدَ
A promise
ٱلصِّدۡقِ
true
ٱلَّذِى
which
كَانُواۡ
they were
يُوعَدُونَ
promised
١٦
Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.
46:17
وَٱلَّذِى
But the one who
قَالَ
says
لِوٰلِدَيۡهِ
to his parents
أُفٍّ
Uff
لَّكُمَآ
to both of you
أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ
Do you promise me
أَنۡ
that
أُخۡرَجَ
I will be brought forth
وَقَدۡ
and have already passed away
خَلَتِ
and have already passed away
ٱلۡقُرُونُ
the generations
مِن
before me
قَبۡلِى
before me
وَهُمَا
And they both
يَسۡتَغِيثَانِ
seek help
ٱللَّهَ
(of) Allah
وَيۡلَكَ
Woe to you
ءَامِنۡ
Believe
إِنَّ
Indeed
وَعۡدَ
(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
حَقٌّ
(is) true
فَيَقُولُ
But he says
مَا
Not
هَـٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّآ
but
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
(the) stories
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)
١٧
But one who says to his parents, "Uff1 to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allāh for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples" -
46:18
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
حَقَّ
(has) proved true
عَلَيۡهِمُ
against them
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
the word
فِىٓ
among
أُمَمٍ
nations
قَدۡ
(that) already passed away
خَلَتۡ
(that) already passed away
مِن
before them
قَبۡلِهِم
before them
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡجِنِّ
(the) jinn
وَٱلۡإِنسِ‌ۖ
and the men
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
كَانُواۡ
are
خَـٰسِرِينَ
(the) losers
١٨
Those are the ones upon whom the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.
46:19
وَلِكُلٍّ
And for all
دَرَجَـٰتٌ
(are) degrees
مِّمَّا
for what
عَمِلُواۡ‌ۖ
they did
وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمۡ
and that He may fully compensate them
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
(for) their deeds
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
will not be wronged
يُظۡلَمُونَ
will not be wronged
١٩
And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.
46:20
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يُعۡرَضُ
will be exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
عَلَى
to
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
أَذۡهَبۡتُمۡ
You exhausted
طَيِّبَـٰتِكُمۡ
your good things
فِى
in
حَيَاتِكُمُ
your life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
وَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم
and you took your pleasures
بِهَا
therein
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ
So today
تُجۡزَوۡنَ
you will be recompensed
عَذَابَ
(with) a punishment
ٱلۡهُونِ
humiliating
بِمَا
because
كُنتُمۡ
you were
تَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
arrogant
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
بِغَيۡرِ
without
ٱلۡحَقِّ
[the] right
وَبِمَا
and because
كُنتُمۡ
you were
تَفۡسُقُونَ
defiantly disobedient
٢٠
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "You exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation because you were arrogant upon the earth without right and because you were defiantly disobedient."
46:21
۞وَٱذۡكُرۡ
And mention
أَخَا
(the) brother
عَادٍ
(of) Aad
إِذۡ
when
أَنذَرَ
he warned
قَوۡمَهُۥ
his people
بِٱلۡأَحۡقَافِ
in the Al-Ahqaf
وَقَدۡ
and had already passed away
خَلَتِ
and had already passed away
ٱلنُّذُرُ
[the] warners
مِنۢ
before him
بَيۡنِ
before him
يَدَيۡهِ
before him
وَمِنۡ
and after him
خَلۡفِهِۦٓ
and after him
أَلَّا
That not
تَعۡبُدُوٓاۡ
you worship
إِلَّا
except
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed, I
أَخَافُ
[I] fear
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
for you
عَذَابَ
a punishment
يَوۡمٍ
(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍ
Great
٢١
And mention, [O Muḥammad], the brother of ʿAad,1 when he warned his people in [the region of] al-Aḥqāf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allāh. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."2
46:22
قَالُوٓاۡ
They said
أَجِئۡتَنَا
Have you come to us
لِتَأۡفِكَنَا
to turn us away
عَنۡ
from
ءَالِهَتِنَا
our gods
فَأۡتِنَا
Then bring us
بِمَا
what
تَعِدُنَآ
you threaten us
إِن
if
كُنتَ
you are
مِنَ
of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
٢٢
They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."
46:23
قَالَ
He said
إِنَّمَا
Only
ٱلۡعِلۡمُ
the knowledge
عِندَ
(is) with Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(is) with Allah
وَأُبَلِّغُكُم
and I convey to you
مَّآ
what
أُرۡسِلۡتُ
I am sent
بِهِۦ
with it
وَلَـٰكِنِّىٓ
but
أَرَٮٰكُمۡ
I see you
قَوۡمًا
a people
تَجۡهَلُونَ
ignorant
٢٣
He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with Allāh, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly."
46:24
فَلَمَّا
Then when
رَأَوۡهُ
they saw it
عَارِضًا
(as) a cloud
مُّسۡتَقۡبِلَ
approaching
أَوۡدِيَتِهِمۡ
their valleys
قَالُواۡ
they said
هَـٰذَا
This
عَارِضٌ
(is) a cloud
مُّمۡطِرُنَا‌ۚ
bringing us rain
بَلۡ
Nay
هُوَ
it
مَا
(is) what
ٱسۡتَعۡجَلۡتُم
you were asking it to be hastened
بِهِۦ‌ۖ
you were asking it to be hastened
رِيحٌ
a wind
فِيهَا
in it
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
٢٤
And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient:1 a wind, within it a painful punishment,
46:25
تُدَمِّرُ
Destroying
كُلَّ
every
شَىۡءِۭ
thing
بِأَمۡرِ
by (the) command
رَبِّهَا
(of) its Lord
فَأَصۡبَحُواۡ
Then they became (such)
لَا
not
يُرَىٰٓ
is seen
إِلَّا
except
مَسَـٰكِنُهُمۡ‌ۚ
their dwellings
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
نَجۡزِى
We recompense
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
the people
ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
[the] criminals
٢٥
Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
46:26
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
مَكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ
We had established them
فِيمَآ
in what
إِن
not
مَّكَّنَّـٰكُمۡ
We have established you
فِيهِ
in it
وَجَعَلۡنَا
and We made
لَهُمۡ
for them
سَمۡعًا
hearing
وَأَبۡصَـٰرًا
and vision
وَأَفۡــِٔدَةً
and hearts
فَمَآ
But not
أَغۡنَىٰ
availed
عَنۡهُمۡ
them
سَمۡعُهُمۡ
their hearing
وَلَآ
and not
أَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ
their vision
وَلَآ
and not
أَفۡــِٔدَتُهُم
their hearts
مِّن
any
شَىۡءٍ
thing
إِذۡ
when
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَجۡحَدُونَ
rejecting
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَحَاقَ
and enveloped
بِهِم
them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they used to
بِهِۦ
[at it]
يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
ridicule
٢٦
And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allāh; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
46:27
وَلَقَدۡ
And certainly
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
We destroyed
مَا
what
حَوۡلَكُم
surrounds you
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡقُرَىٰ
the towns
وَصَرَّفۡنَا
and We have diversified
ٱلۡأَيَـٰتِ
the Signs
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
that they may
يَرۡجِعُونَ
return
٢٧
And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].
46:28
فَلَوۡلَا
Then why (did) not
نَصَرَهُمُ
help them
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
ٱتَّخَذُواۡ
they had taken
مِن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
قُرۡبَانًا
gods as a way of approach
ءَالِهَةَۢ‌ۖ
gods as a way of approach
بَلۡ
Nay
ضَلُّواۡ
they were lost
عَنۡهُمۡ‌ۚ
from them
وَذٰلِكَ
And that
إِفۡكُهُمۡ
(was) their falsehood
وَمَا
and what
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَفۡتَرُونَ
inventing
٢٨
Then why did those they took besides Allāh as deities by which to approach [Him]1 not aid them? But they had strayed [i.e., departed] from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing.
46:29
وَإِذۡ
And when
صَرَفۡنَآ
We directed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
نَفَرًا
a party
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡجِنِّ
the jinn
يَسۡتَمِعُونَ
listening
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
(to) the Quran
فَلَمَّا
And when
حَضَرُوهُ
they attended it
قَالُوٓاۡ
they said
أَنصِتُواۡ‌ۖ
Listen quietly
فَلَمَّا
And when
قُضِىَ
it was concluded
وَلَّوۡاۡ
they turned back
إِلَىٰ
to
قَوۡمِهِم
their people
مُّنذِرِينَ
(as) warners
٢٩
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur’ān. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen attentively." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.
46:30
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰقَوۡمَنَآ
O our people
إِنَّا
Indeed, we

ٱلۡحَقِّ
the truth
وَإِلَىٰ
and to
طَرِيقٍ
a Path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ
Straight
٣٠
They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.
46:31
يَـٰقَوۡمَنَآ
O our people
أَجِيبُواۡ
Respond
دَاعِىَ
(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَءَامِنُواۡ

بِهِۦ
in him
يَغۡفِرۡ
He will forgive

ذُنُوبِكُمۡ
your sins
وَيُجِرۡكُم
and will protect you
مِّنۡ
from
عَذَابٍ
a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
painful
٣١
O our people, respond to the Caller [i.e., Messenger] of Allāh1 and believe in him; He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.
46:32
وَمَن
And whoever
لَّا
(does) not
يُجِبۡ
respond
دَاعِىَ
(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
فَلَيۡسَ

مُّبِينٍ

٣٢
But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allāh will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error."
46:33
أَوَلَمۡ
Do not
يَرَوۡاۡ
they see
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَلَمۡ
and (was) not
يَعۡىَ
tired
بِخَلۡقِهِنَّ
by their creation
بِقَـٰدِرٍ
(is) able
عَلَىٰٓ
to give life
أَن
to give life
يُحۡــِۧىَ
to give life
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ‌ۚ
(to) the dead
بَلَىٰٓ
Yes
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed He

قَدِيرٌ
All-Powerful
٣٣
Do they not see that Allāh, who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent.
46:34
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يُعۡرَضُ
are exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
عَلَى
to
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
أَلَيۡسَ
Is not
هَـٰذَا
this
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۖ
the truth
قَالُواۡ
They will say
بَلَىٰ
Yes
وَرَبِّنَا‌ۚ
by our Lord
قَالَ
He will say
فَذُوقُواۡ
Then taste
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
the punishment
بِمَا
because
كُنتُمۡ
you used to
تَكۡفُرُونَ
disbelieve
٣٤
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will say, "Then taste the punishment for what you used to deny."1
46:35
فَٱصۡبِرۡ
So be patient
كَمَا
as
صَبَرَ
had patience
أُوۡلُواۡ
those of determination
ٱلۡعَزۡمِ
those of determination
مِنَ
of
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the Messengers
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَسۡتَعۡجِل
seek to hasten
لَّهُمۡ‌ۚ
for them
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
As if they had
يَوۡمَ
(the) Day
يَرَوۡنَ
they see
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
they were promised
لَمۡ
not
يَلۡبَثُوٓاۡ
remained
إِلَّا
except
سَاعَةً
an hour
مِّن
of
نَّهَارِۭ‌ۚ
a day
بَلَـٰغٌ‌ۚ
A notification
فَهَلۡ
But will
يُهۡلَكُ
(any) be destroyed
إِلَّا
except
ٱلۡقَوۡمُ
the people
ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ
the defiantly disobedient
٣٥
So be patient, [O Muḥammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them.1 It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?
47:1
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
وَصَدُّواۡ
and turn away
عَن
from
سَبِيلِ
(the) way of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) way of Allah
أَضَلَّ
He will cause to be lost
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
١
Those who disbelieve and avert [people] from the way of Allāh - He will waste their deeds.1
47:2
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
righteous deeds
وَءَامَنُواۡ
and believe
بِمَا
in what
نُزِّلَ
is revealed
عَلَىٰ
to
مُحَمَّدٍ
Muhammad
وَهُوَ
and it
ٱلۡحَقُّ
(is) the truth
مِن
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ‌ۙ
their Lord
كَفَّرَ
He will remove
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
سَيِّـَٔـاتِهِمۡ
their misdeeds
وَأَصۡلَحَ
and improve
بَالَهُمۡ
their condition
٢
And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muḥammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition.
47:3
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّ
(is) because
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
ٱتَّبَعُواۡ
follow
ٱلۡبَـٰطِلَ
falsehood
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
ٱتَّبَعُواۡ
follow
ٱلۡحَقَّ
(the) truth
مِن
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ‌ۚ
their Lord
كَذٰلِكَ
Thus
يَضۡرِبُ
Allah presents
ٱللَّهُ
Allah presents
لِلنَّاسِ
to the people
أَمۡثَـٰلَهُمۡ
their similitudes
٣
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allāh present to the people their comparisons.1
47:4
فَإِذَا
So when
لَقِيتُمُ
you meet
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
فَضَرۡبَ
then strike
ٱلرِّقَابِ
the necks
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَآ
when
أَثۡخَنتُمُوهُمۡ
you have subdued them
فَشُدُّواۡ
then bind firmly
ٱلۡوَثَاقَ
the bond
فَإِمَّا
then either
مَنَّۢا
a favor
بَعۡدُ
afterwards
وَإِمَّا
or
فِدَآءً
ransom
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَضَعَ
lays down
ٱلۡحَرۡبُ
the war
أَوۡزَارَهَا‌ۚ
its burdens
ذٰلِكَ
That
وَلَوۡ
And if
يَشَآءُ
Allah had willed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah had willed
لَٱنتَصَرَ
surely, He could have taken retribution
مِنۡهُمۡ
from them
وَلَـٰكِن
but
لِّيَبۡلُوَاۡ
to test
بَعۡضَكُم
some of you
بِبَعۡضٍ‌ۗ
with others
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
قُتِلُواۡ
are killed
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
(the) way of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) way of Allah
فَلَن
then never
يُضِلَّ
He will cause to be lost
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
٤
So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure [their] bonds,1 and either [confer] favor2 afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens.3 That [is the command]. And if Allāh had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allāh - never will He waste their deeds.
47:5
سَيَهۡدِيهِمۡ
He will guide them
وَيُصۡلِحُ
and improve
بَالَهُمۡ
their condition
٥
He will guide them and amend their condition
47:6
وَيُدۡخِلُهُمُ
And admit them
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
(to) Paradise
عَرَّفَهَا
He has made it known
لَهُمۡ
to them
٦
And admit them to Paradise, which He has made known to them.
47:7
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓاۡ
O you who believe
إِن
If
تَنصُرُواۡ
you help
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَنصُرۡكُمۡ
He will help you
وَيُثَبِّتۡ
and make firm
أَقۡدَامَكُمۡ
your feet
٧
O you who have believed, if you support Allāh, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
47:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ
But those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
فَتَعۡسًا
destruction (is)
لَّهُمۡ
for them
وَأَضَلَّ
and He will cause to be lost
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
٨
But those who disbelieve - for them is misery, and He will waste their deeds.
47:9
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّهُمۡ
(is) because they
كَرِهُواۡ
hate
مَآ
what
أَنزَلَ
Allah has revealed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has revealed
فَأَحۡبَطَ
so He has made worthless
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
٩
That is because they disliked what Allāh revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds.
47:10
۞أَفَلَمۡ
Do not
يَسِيرُواۡ
they travel
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
فَيَنظُرُواۡ
and see
كَيۡفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ
(the) end
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those
مِن
before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ
before them
دَمَّرَ
Allah destroyed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah destroyed
عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۖ
[over] them
وَلِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
and for the disbelievers
أَمۡثَـٰلُهَا
its likeness
١٠
Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allāh destroyed [everything] over them,1 and for the disbelievers is something comparable.
47:11
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّ
(is) because
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَوۡلَى
(is the) Protector
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
لَا
(there is) no
مَوۡلَىٰ
protector
لَهُمۡ
for them
١١
That is because Allāh is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector.
47:12
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يُدۡخِلُ
will admit
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
righteous deeds
جَنَّـٰتٍ
(to) Gardens
تَجۡرِى
flow
مِن
from
تَحۡتِهَا
underneath it
ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ‌ۖ
the rivers
وَٱلَّذِينَ
but those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve
يَتَمَتَّعُونَ
they enjoy
وَيَأۡكُلُونَ
and eat
كَمَا
as
تَأۡكُلُ
eat
ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمُ
the cattle
وَٱلنَّارُ
and the Fire
مَثۡوًى
(will be) an abode
لَّهُمۡ
for them
١٢
Indeed, Allāh will admit those who have believed and done righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow, but those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as grazing livestock eat, and the Fire will be a residence for them.
47:13
وَكَأَيِّن
And how many
مِّن
of
قَرۡيَةٍ
a town
هِىَ
which
أَشَدُّ
(was) stronger
قُوَّةً
(in) strength
مِّن
than
قَرۡيَتِكَ
your town
ٱلَّتِىٓ
which
أَخۡرَجَتۡكَ
has driven you out
أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُمۡ
We destroyed them
فَلَا
so no
نَاصِرَ

لَهُمۡ
for them
١٣
And how many a city was stronger than your city [i.e., Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.
47:14
أَفَمَن
Then is (he) who
كَانَ
is

a clear proof

(the) evil
عَمَلِهِۦ
(of) his deeds

while they follow
أَهۡوَآءَهُم
their desires
١٤
So is he who is on clear evidence from his Lord like him to whom the evil of his work has been made attractive and they follow their [own] desires?
47:15
مَّثَلُ

ٱلثَّمَرٰتِ

مِّن

رَّبِّهِمۡ‌ۖ
their Lord
كَمَنۡ
like he who

ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire

حَمِيمًا

أَمۡعَآءَهُمۡ
their intestines
١٥
Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered,1 rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord... [Are its inhabitants] like those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?
47:16
وَمِنۡهُم
And among them
مَّن
(are some) who
يَسۡتَمِعُ
listen
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
خَرَجُواۡ
they depart
مِنۡ
from
عِندِكَ
you
قَالُواۡ
they say
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
أُوتُواۡ
were given
ٱلۡعِلۡمَ
the knowledge
مَاذَا
What
قَالَ
(has) he said
ءَانِفًا‌ۚ
just now
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
طَبَعَ
Allah has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has set a seal
عَلَىٰ
upon
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
their hearts
وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاۡ
and they follow
أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ
their desires
١٦
And among them, [O Muḥammad], are those who listen to you, until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge,1 "What has he said just now?" Those are the ones of whom Allāh has sealed over their hearts and who have followed their [own] desires.
47:17
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ٱهۡتَدَوۡاۡ
accept guidance
زَادَهُمۡ
He increases them
هُدًى
(in) guidance
وَءَاتَـٰهُمۡ
and gives them
تَقۡوَٮٰهُمۡ
their righteousness
١٧
And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.1
47:18
فَهَلۡ
Then do
يَنظُرُونَ
they wait
إِلَّا
but
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
(for) the Hour
أَن
that
تَأۡتِيَهُم
it should come to them
بَغۡتَةً‌ۖ
suddenly
فَقَدۡ
But indeed
جَآءَ
have come
أَشۡرَاطُهَا‌ۚ
its indications
فَأَنَّىٰ
Then how
لَهُمۡ
to them
إِذَا
when
جَآءَتۡهُمۡ
has come to them
ذِكۡرَٮٰهُمۡ
their reminder
١٨
Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then how [i.e., what good] to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance?
47:19
فَٱعۡلَمۡ
So know
أَنَّهُۥ
that [He]
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
god
إِلَّا
but
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ
and ask forgiveness
لِذَنۢبِكَ
for your sin
وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
and for the believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ‌ۗ
and the believing women
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مُتَقَلَّبَكُمۡ
your movement
وَمَثۡوَٮٰكُمۡ
and your resting places
١٩
So know, [O Muḥammad], that there is no deity except Allāh and ask forgiveness for your sin1 and for the believing men and believing women. And Allāh knows of your movement and your resting place.
47:20
وَيَقُولُ

in it
ٱلۡقِتَالُ‌ۙ
the fighting
رَأَيۡتَ
you see
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who

قُلُوبِهِم
their hearts

(of) one fainting
عَلَيۡهِ
(of) one fainting
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡمَوۡتِ‌ۖ
the death
فَأَوۡلَىٰ
But more appropriate
لَهُمۡ
for them
٢٠
Those who believe say, "Why has a sūrah1 not been sent down?" But when a precise sūrah is revealed and battle is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] looking at you with a look of one overcome by death. And more appropriate for them2 [would have been]
47:21
طَاعَةٌ
(Is) obedience

٢١
Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allāh, it would have been better for them.
47:22
فَهَلۡ
Then would

تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ
you are given authority
أَن
that
تُفۡسِدُواۡ
you cause corruption
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
وَتُقَطِّعُوٓاۡ
and cut off
أَرۡحَامَكُمۡ
your ties of kinship
٢٢
So would you perhaps, if you turned away,1 cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship?
47:23
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
لَعَنَهُمُ
Allah has cursed them
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has cursed them
فَأَصَمَّهُمۡ
so He made them deaf
وَأَعۡمَىٰٓ
and blinded
أَبۡصَـٰرَهُمۡ
their vision
٢٣
Those [who do so] are the ones that Allāh has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision.
47:24
أَفَلَا
Then do not
يَتَدَبَّرُونَ
they ponder
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
(over) the Quran
أَمۡ
or
عَلَىٰ
upon
قُلُوبٍ
(their) hearts
أَقۡفَالُهَآ
(are) locks
٢٤
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’ān, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
47:25
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱرۡتَدُّواۡ
return
عَلَىٰٓ
on
أَدۡبَـٰرِهِم
their backs
مِّنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
مَا
what
تَبَيَّنَ

لَهُمُ
to them
ٱلۡهُدَى‌ۙ

ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنُ
Shaitaan
سَوَّلَ
enticed
لَهُمۡ
[for] them
وَأَمۡلَىٰ
and prolonged hope
لَهُمۡ
for them
٢٥
Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them - Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them.
47:26
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّهُمۡ
(is) because they
قَالُواۡ
[they] said
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
كَرِهُواۡ
hate
مَا
what
نَزَّلَ
Allah has revealed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has revealed
سَنُطِيعُكُمۡ
We will obey you
فِى
in
بَعۡضِ
part
ٱلۡأَمۡرِ‌ۖ
(of) the matter
وَٱللَّهُ
But Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
إِسۡرَارَهُمۡ
their secrets
٢٦
That is because they said to those who disliked what Allāh sent down,1 "We will obey you in part of the matter." And Allāh knows what they conceal.
47:27
فَكَيۡفَ
Then how
إِذَا
when
تَوَفَّتۡهُمُ
take them in death
ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
يَضۡرِبُونَ
striking
وُجُوهَهُمۡ
their faces
وَأَدۡبَـٰرَهُمۡ
and their backs
٢٧
Then how [will it be] when the angels take them in death, striking their faces and their backs?
47:28
ذٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّهُمُ
(is) because they
ٱتَّبَعُواۡ
followed
مَآ
what
أَسۡخَطَ
angered
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَكَرِهُواۡ
and hated
رِضۡوٰنَهُۥ
His pleasure
فَأَحۡبَطَ
so He made worthless
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
٢٨
That is because they followed what angered Allāh and disliked [what earns] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds.
47:29
أَمۡ
Or do
حَسِبَ
think
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
فِى
in
قُلُوبِهِم
their hearts
مَّرَضٌ

أَن
that
لَّن
never
يُخۡرِجَ
will Allah bring forth
ٱللَّهُ
will Allah bring forth
أَضۡغَـٰنَهُمۡ
their hatred
٢٩
Or do those in whose hearts is disease think that Allāh would never expose their [feelings of] hatred?
47:30
وَلَوۡ
And if
نَشَآءُ
We willed
لَأَرَيۡنَـٰكَهُمۡ
surely, We could show them to you
فَلَعَرَفۡتَهُم
and you would know them
بِسِيمَـٰهُمۡ‌ۚ
by their marks
وَلَتَعۡرِفَنَّهُمۡ
but surely, you will know them
فِى
by
لَحۡنِ
(the) tone
ٱلۡقَوۡلِ‌ۚ
(of their) speech
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ
your deeds
٣٠
And if We willed, We could show them to you, and you would know them by their mark; but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech. And Allāh knows your deeds.
47:31
وَلَنَبۡلُوَنَّكُمۡ
And surely We will test you
حَتَّىٰ
until
نَعۡلَمَ
We make evident
ٱلۡمُجَـٰهِدِينَ
those who strive
مِنكُمۡ
among you
وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
and the patient ones
وَنَبۡلُوَاۡ
and We will test
أَخۡبَارَكُمۡ
your affairs
٣١
And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allāh] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.
47:32
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who

Allah
شَيۡــًٔا

and He will make worthless
أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ
their deeds
٣٢
Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allāh and opposed the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them - never will they harm Allāh at all, and He will render worthless their deeds.
47:33
۞يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you who believe

ٱلرَّسُولَ
the Messenger
وَلَا

تُبۡطِلُوٓاۡ
make vain
أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ
your deeds
٣٣
O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds.
47:34
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieve

(were) disbelievers
فَلَن
never

ٱللَّهُ
will Allah forgive

them
٣٤
Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allāh and then died while they were disbelievers - never will Allāh forgive them.
47:35
فَلَا
So (do) not
تَهِنُواۡ
weaken
وَتَدۡعُوٓاۡ
and call
إِلَى
for
ٱلسَّلۡمِ
peace

while you

مَعَكُمۡ
(is) with you
وَلَن
and never
يَتِرَكُمۡ
will deprive you
أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ
(of) your deeds
٣٥
So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allāh is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.
47:36
إِنَّمَا
Only
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ

your rewards
وَلَا
and not
يَسۡــَٔلۡكُمۡ
will ask you
أَمۡوٰلَكُمۡ
(for) your wealth
٣٦
[This] worldly life is only amusement and diversion. And if you believe and fear Allāh, He will give you your rewards and not ask you for your properties.
47:37
إِن
If
يَسۡــَٔلۡكُمُوهَا
He were to ask you for it

and He will bring forth
أَضۡغَـٰنَكُمۡ
your hatred
٣٧
If He should ask you for them and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your hatred [i.e., unwillingness].
47:38
هَـٰٓأَنتُمۡ
Here you are
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these

وَٱللَّهُ
But Allah
ٱلۡغَنِىُّ

ٱلۡفُقَرَآءُ‌ۚ
(are) the needy
وَإِن
And if
تَتَوَلَّوۡاۡ
you turn away
يَسۡتَبۡدِلۡ
He will replace you

other than you
ثُمَّ
then
لَا

يَكُونُوٓاۡ
they will be
أَمۡثَـٰلَكُم
(the) likes of you
٣٨
Here you are - those invited to spend in the cause of Allāh - but among you are those who withhold [out of greed]. And whoever withholds only withholds [benefit] from himself; and Allāh is the Free of need, while you are the needy. And if you turn away [i.e., refuse], He will replace you with another people; then they will not be the likes of you.
48:1
إِنَّا

Indeed, We have given you, [O Muḥammad], a clear conquest1
48:2
لِّيَغۡفِرَ

٢
That Allāh may forgive for you what preceded of your sin [i.e., errors] and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path
48:3
وَيَنصُرَكَ
And Allah may help you
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah may help you
نَصۡرًا

عَزِيزًا
mighty
٣
And [that] Allāh may aid you with a mighty victory.
48:4
هُوَ
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ

أَنزَلَ
sent down
ٱلسَّكِينَةَ
[the] tranquility

ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

حَكِيمًا
All-Wise
٤
It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allāh belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allāh Knowing and Wise.
48:5
لِّيُدۡخِلَ
That He may admit
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

٥
[And] that He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein eternally and remove from them their misdeeds - and ever is that, in the sight of Allāh, a great attainment
48:6
وَيُعَذِّبَ
And He (may) punish
ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ
the hypocrite men
وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ
and the hypocrite women
وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
and the polytheist men
وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكَـٰتِ

ٱلظَّآنِّينَ
who assume

ٱلسَّوۡءِ‌ۖ

for them
جَهَنَّمَ‌ۖ
Hell

مَصِيرًا
(is the) destination
٦
And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women - those who assume about Allāh an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allāh has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
48:7
وَلِلَّهِ
And for Allah
جُنُودُ

And to Allāh belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth. And ever is Allāh Exalted in Might and Wise.
48:8
إِنَّآ
Indeed, We
أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ
[We] have sent you
شَـٰهِدًا
(as) a witness
وَمُبَشِّرًا
and (as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرًا
and (as) a warner
٨
Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner
48:9
لِّتُؤۡمِنُواۡ
That you may believe
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ

٩
That you [people] may believe in Allāh and His Messenger and honor him and respect him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] and exalt Him [i.e., Allāh] morning and afternoon.
48:10
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ

soon He will give him

a reward
عَظِيمًا
great
١٠
Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muḥammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allāh. The hand1 of Allāh is over their hands.2 So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allāh - He will give him a great reward.
48:11

١٢
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, ever, and that was made pleasing in your hearts. And you assumed an assumption of evil and became a people ruined."
48:13

Those who remained1 behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allāh. Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allāh say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little.2

Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] pleasure. Their sign is in their faces from the effect of prostration [i.e., prayer]. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that He [i.e., Allāh] may enrage by them1 the disbelievers. Allāh has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name [i.e., mention] of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

مَا
what
يَقُولُونَ
they say
وَسَبِّحۡ
and glorify
بِحَمۡدِ
(the) praise
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
قَبۡلَ
before
طُلُوعِ
(the) rising
ٱلشَّمۡسِ
(of) the sun
وَقَبۡلَ
and before
ٱلۡغُرُوبِ
the setting
٣٩
So be patient, [O Muḥammad], over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,
50:40
وَمِنَ
And of
ٱلَّيۡلِ
the night
فَسَبِّحۡهُ
glorify Him
وَأَدۡبَـٰرَ
and after
ٱلسُّجُودِ
the prostration
٤٠
And [in part] of the night exalt Him and after prostration [i.e., prayer].
50:41
وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ
And listen
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
يُنَادِ
will call
ٱلۡمُنَادِ
the caller
مِن
from
مَّكَانٍ
a place
قَرِيبٍ
near
٤١
And listen on the Day when the Caller1 will call out from a place that is near -
50:42
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
يَسۡمَعُونَ
they will hear
ٱلصَّيۡحَةَ
the Blast
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۚ
in truth
ذٰلِكَ
That
يَوۡمُ
(is the) Day
ٱلۡخُرُوجِ
(of) coming forth
٤٢
The Day they will hear the blast [of the Horn] in truth. That is the Day of Emergence [from the graves].
50:43
إِنَّا
Indeed, We
نَحۡنُ
[We]
نُحۡىِۦ
[We] give life
وَنُمِيتُ
and [We] cause death
وَإِلَيۡنَا
and to Us
ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
(is) the final return
٤٣
Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination
50:44
يَوۡمَ
(The) Day
تَشَقَّقُ
will split
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
the earth
عَنۡهُمۡ
from them
سِرَاعًا‌ۚ
hurrying
ذٰلِكَ
That
حَشۡرٌ
(is) a gathering
عَلَيۡنَا
for Us
يَسِيرٌ
easy
٤٤
On the Day the earth breaks away from them [and they emerge] rapidly; that is a gathering easy for Us.
50:45
نَّحۡنُ
We
أَعۡلَمُ
know best
بِمَا
[of] what
يَقُولُونَ‌ۖ
they say
وَمَآ
and not
أَنتَ
(are) you
عَلَيۡهِم
over them
بِجَبَّارٍ‌ۖ
the one to compel
فَذَكِّرۡ
But remind
بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ
with the Quran
مَن
whoever
يَخَافُ
fears
وَعِيدِ
My threat
٤٥
We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant.1 But remind by the Qur’ān whoever fears My threat.
51:1
وَٱلذّٰرِيَـٰتِ
By those scattering
ذَرۡوًا
dispersing
١
By the [winds] scattering [dust], dispersing [it]
51:2
فَٱلۡحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ
And those carrying
وِقۡرًا
a load
٢
And the [clouds] carrying a load [of water]
51:3
فَٱلۡجَـٰرِيَـٰتِ
And those sailing
يُسۡرًا
(with) ease
٣
And the ships sailing with ease
51:4
فَٱلۡمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ
And those distributing
أَمۡرًا
Command
٤
And the [angels] apportioning [each] matter,
51:5
إِنَّمَا
Indeed, what
تُوعَدُونَ
you are promised
لَصَادِقٌ
(is) surely true
٥
Indeed, what you are promised is true.
51:6
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
ٱلدِّينَ
the Judgment
لَوٰقِعٌ
(is) surely to occur
٦
And indeed, the recompense is to occur.
51:7
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
By the heaven
ذَاتِ
full of
ٱلۡحُبُكِ
pathways
٧
By the heaven containing pathways,1
51:8
إِنَّكُمۡ
Indeed, you
لَفِى
(are) surely in
قَوۡلٍ
a speech
مُّخۡتَلِفٍ
differing
٨
Indeed, you are in differing speech.1
51:9
يُؤۡفَكُ
Deluded away
عَنۡهُ
from it
مَنۡ
(is he) who
أُفِكَ
is deluded
٩
Deluded away from it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is he who is deluded.
51:10
قُتِلَ
Cursed be
ٱلۡخَرّٰصُونَ
the liars
١٠
Destroyed are the misinformers1
51:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
هُمۡ
[they]
فِى
(are) in
غَمۡرَةٍ
flood
سَاهُونَ
(of) heedlessness
١١
Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless.
51:12
يَسۡــَٔلُونَ
They ask
أَيَّانَ
When
يَوۡمُ
(is the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
(of) Judgment
١٢
They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?"
51:13
يَوۡمَ
A Day
هُمۡ
they
عَلَى
over
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
يُفۡتَنُونَ
will be tried
١٣
[It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire.
51:14
ذُوقُواۡ
Taste
فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ
your trial
هَـٰذَا
This
ٱلَّذِى
(is) what
كُنتُم
you were
بِهِۦ
for it
تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
seeking to hasten
١٤
[And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient."
51:15
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
the righteous
فِى
(will be) in
جَنَّـٰتٍ
Gardens
وَعُيُونٍ
and springs
١٥
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs,
51:16
ءَاخِذِينَ
Taking
مَآ
what
ءَاتَـٰهُمۡ
their Lord has given them
رَبُّهُمۡ‌ۚ
their Lord has given them
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
كَانُواۡ
were
قَبۡلَ
before
ذٰلِكَ
that
مُحۡسِنِينَ
good-doers
١٦
Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
51:17
كَانُواۡ
They used to
قَلِيلاً
little
مِّنَ
of
ٱلَّيۡلِ
the night
مَا
[what]
يَهۡجَعُونَ
sleep
١٧
They used to sleep but little of the night,1
51:18
وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ
And in the hours before dawn
هُمۡ
they
يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ
would ask forgiveness
١٨
And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness,
51:19
وَفِىٓ
And in
أَمۡوٰلِهِمۡ
their wealth
حَقٌّ
(was the) right
لِّلسَّآئِلِ
(of) those who asked
وَٱلۡمَحۡرُومِ
and the deprived
١٩
And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived.
51:20
وَفِى
And in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
ءَايَـٰتٌ
(are) signs
لِّلۡمُوقِنِينَ
for those who are certain
٢٠
And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith]
51:21
وَفِىٓ
And in
أَنفُسِكُمۡ‌ۚ
yourselves
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تُبۡصِرُونَ
you see
٢١
And in yourselves. Then will you not see?
51:22
وَفِى
And in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the heaven
رِزۡقُكُمۡ
(is) your provision
وَمَا
and what
تُوعَدُونَ
you are promised
٢٢
And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised.
51:23
فَوَرَبِّ
Then by (the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
(of) the heaven
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed, it
لَحَقٌّ
(is) surely (the) truth
مِّثۡلَ
(just) as
مَآ
[what]
أَنَّكُمۡ
you
تَنطِقُونَ
speak
٢٣
Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking.
51:24
هَلۡ
Has
أَتَـٰكَ
reached you
حَدِيثُ
(the) narration
ضَيۡفِ
(of the) guests
إِبۡرٰهِيمَ
(of) Ibrahim
ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
the honored
٢٤
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham?1 -
51:25
إِذۡ
When
دَخَلُواۡ
they entered
عَلَيۡهِ
upon him
فَقَالُواۡ
and said
سَلَـٰمًا‌ۖ
Peace
قَالَ
He said
سَلَـٰمٌ
Peace
قَوۡمٌ
a people
مُّنكَرُونَ
unknown
٢٥
When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace; [you are] a people unknown."
51:26
فَرَاغَ
Then he went
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَهۡلِهِۦ
his household
فَجَآءَ
and came
بِعِجۡلٍ
with a calf
سَمِينٍ
fat
٢٦
Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf.
51:27
فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ
And he placed it near
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
[to] them
قَالَ
he said
أَلَا
Will not
تَأۡكُلُونَ
you eat
٢٧
And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?"
51:28
فَأَوۡجَسَ
Then he felt
مِنۡهُمۡ
from them
خِيفَةً‌ۖ
a fear
قَالُواۡ
They said
لَا
(Do) not
تَخَفۡ‌ۖ
fear
وَبَشَّرُوهُ
and they gave him glad tidings
بِغُلَـٰمٍ
of a son
عَلِيمٍ
learned
٢٨
And he felt from them apprehension.1 They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy.
51:29
فَأَقۡبَلَتِ
Then came forward
ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ
his wife
فِى
with
صَرَّةٍ
a loud voice
فَصَكَّتۡ
and struck
وَجۡهَهَا
her face
وَقَالَتۡ
and she said
عَجُوزٌ
An old woman
عَقِيمٌ
barren
٢٩
And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!"
51:30
قَالُواۡ
They said
كَذٰلِكِ
Thus
قَالَ
said
رَبُّكِ‌ۖ
your Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
هُوَ
[He]
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
(is) the All-Wise
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
the All-Knower
٣٠
They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing."
