جزء 18

3 Surahs202 Versesجزء 18
23:1
قَدۡ
Indeed
أَفۡلَحَ
successful
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
(are) the believers
١
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:
23:2
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
هُمۡ
[they]
فِى
during
صَلَاتِهِمۡ
their prayers
خَـٰشِعُونَ
(are) humbly submissive
٢
They who are during their prayer humbly intent
23:3
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
هُمۡ
[they]
عَنِ
from
ٱللَّغۡوِ
the vain talk
مُعۡرِضُونَ
turn away
٣
And they who turn away from ill speech
23:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
هُمۡ
[they]
لِلزَّكَوٰةِ
of purification works
فَـٰعِلُونَ
(are) doers
٤
And they who are observant of zakāh
23:5
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
هُمۡ
[they]
لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ
of their modesty
حَـٰفِظُونَ
(are) guardians
٥
And they who guard their private parts
23:6
إِلَّا
Except
عَلَىٰٓ
from
أَزۡوٰجِهِمۡ
their spouses
أَوۡ
or
مَا
what
مَلَكَتۡ
possess
أَيۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ
their right hands
فَإِنَّهُمۡ
then indeed, they
غَيۡرُ
(are) not
مَلُومِينَ
blameworthy
٦
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess,1 for indeed, they will not be blamed -
23:7
فَمَنِ
Then whoever
ٱبۡتَغَىٰ
seeks
وَرَآءَ
beyond
ذٰلِكَ
that
فَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
then those
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡعَادُونَ
(are) the transgressors
٧
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -
23:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
هُمۡ
[they]
لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمۡ
of their trusts
وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ
and their promise(s)
رٰعُونَ
(are) observers
٨
And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive
23:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
هُمۡ
[they]
عَلَىٰ
over
صَلَوٰتِهِمۡ
their prayers
يُحَافِظُونَ
they guard
٩
And they who carefully maintain their prayers -
23:10
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡوٰرِثُونَ
(are) the inheritors
١٠
Those are the inheritors
23:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
Who
يَرِثُونَ
will inherit
ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ
the Paradise
هُمۡ
They
فِيهَا
therein
خَـٰلِدُونَ
(will) abide forever
١١
Who will inherit al-Firdaus.1 They will abide therein eternally.
23:12
وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
خَلَقۡنَا
We created
ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ
the humankind
مِن
from
سُلَـٰلَةٍ
an essence
مِّن
of
طِينٍ
clay
١٢
And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.
23:13
ثُمَّ
Then
جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ
We placed him
نُطۡفَةً
(as) a semen-drop
فِى
in
قَرَارٍ
a resting place
مَّكِينٍ
firm
١٣
Then We placed him as a sperm-drop1 in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb].
23:14
ثُمَّ
Then
خَلَقۡنَا
We created
ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ
the semen-drop
عَلَقَةً
(into) a clinging substance
فَخَلَقۡنَا
then We created
ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ
the clinging substance
مُضۡغَةً
(into) an embryonic lump
فَخَلَقۡنَا
then We created
ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ
the embryonic lump
عِظَـٰمًا
(into) bones
فَكَسَوۡنَا
then We clothed
ٱلۡعِظَـٰمَ
the bones
لَحۡمًا
(with) flesh
ثُمَّ
then
أَنشَأۡنَـٰهُ
We produce it
خَلۡقًا
(as) a creation
ءَاخَرَ‌ۚ
another
فَتَبَارَكَ
So blessed is
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
أَحۡسَنُ
(the) Best
ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِينَ
(of) the Creators
١٤
Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allāh, the best of creators.1
23:15
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّكُم
indeed, you
بَعۡدَ
after
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَمَيِّتُونَ
surely (will) die
١٥
Then indeed, after that you are to die.
23:16
ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّكُمۡ
indeed, you
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
تُبۡعَثُونَ
will be resurrected
١٦
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.
23:17
وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
خَلَقۡنَا
We (have) created
فَوۡقَكُمۡ
above you
سَبۡعَ
seven
طَرَآئِقَ
paths
وَمَا
and not
كُنَّا
We are
عَنِ
of
ٱلۡخَلۡقِ
the creation
غَـٰفِلِينَ
unaware
١٧
And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.
23:18
وَأَنزَلۡنَا
And We send down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءَۢ
water
بِقَدَرٍ
in (due) measure
فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُ
then We cause it to settle
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۖ
the earth
وَإِنَّا
And indeed, We
عَلَىٰ
on
ذَهَابِۭ
taking it away
بِهِۦ
taking it away
لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
surely (are) Able
١٨
And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away.
23:19
فَأَنشَأۡنَا
Then We produced
لَكُم
for you
بِهِۦ
by it
جَنَّـٰتٍ
gardens
مِّن
of date-palms
نَّخِيلٍ
of date-palms
وَأَعۡنَـٰبٍ
and grapevines
لَّكُمۡ
for you
فِيهَا
in it
فَوٰكِهُ
(are) fruits
كَثِيرَةٌ
abundant
وَمِنۡهَا
and from them
تَأۡكُلُونَ
you eat
١٩
And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.
23:20
وَشَجَرَةً
And a tree
تَخۡرُجُ
(that) springs forth
مِن
from
طُورِ
Mount Sinai
سَيۡنَآءَ
Mount Sinai
تَنۢبُتُ
(which) produces
بِٱلدُّهۡنِ
oil
وَصِبۡغٍ
and a relish
لِّلۡأَكِلِينَ
for those who eat
٢٠
And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food [i.e., olives] for those who eat.
23:21
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
لَكُمۡ
for you
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ
the cattle
لَعِبۡرَةً‌ۖ
surely, (is) a lesson
نُّسۡقِيكُم
We give you drink
مِّمَّا
from what
فِى
(is) in
بُطُونِهَا
their bellies
وَلَكُمۡ
and for you
فِيهَا
in them
مَنَـٰفِعُ
(are) benefits
كَثِيرَةٌ
many
وَمِنۡهَا
and of them
تَأۡكُلُونَ
you eat
٢١
And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat.
23:22
وَعَلَيۡهَا
And on them
وَعَلَى
and on
ٱلۡفُلۡكِ
[the] ships
تُحۡمَلُونَ
you are carried
٢٢
And upon them and on ships you are carried.
23:23
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
نُوحًا
Nuh
إِلَىٰ
to
قَوۡمِهِۦ
his people
فَقَالَ
and he said
يَـٰقَوۡمِ
O my people
ٱعۡبُدُواۡ
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَا
not
لَكُم
for you
مِّنۡ
(is) any
إِلَـٰهٍ
god
غَيۡرُهُۥٓ‌ۖ
other than Him
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
you fear
٢٣
And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
23:24
فَقَالَ
But said
ٱلۡمَلَؤُاۡ
the chiefs
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
مِن
among
قَوۡمِهِۦ
his people
مَا
This is not
هَـٰذَآ
This is not
إِلَّا
but
بَشَرٌ
a man
مِّثۡلُكُمۡ
like you
يُرِيدُ
he wishes
أَن
to
يَتَفَضَّلَ
assert (his) superiority
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
over you
وَلَوۡ
and if
شَآءَ
Allah had willed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah had willed
لَأَنزَلَ
surely He (would have) sent down
مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً
Angels
مَّا
Not
سَمِعۡنَا
we heard
بِهَـٰذَا
of this
فِىٓ
from
ءَابَآئِنَا
our forefathers
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
our forefathers
٢٤
But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allāh had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.
23:25
إِنۡ
Not
هُوَ
he
إِلَّا
(is) but
رَجُلُۢ
a man
بِهِۦ
in him
جِنَّةٌ
(is) madness
فَتَرَبَّصُواۡ
so wait
بِهِۦ
concerning him
حَتَّىٰ
until
حِينٍ
a time
٢٥
He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time."
23:26
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
ٱنصُرۡنِى
Help me
بِمَا
because
كَذَّبُونِ
they deny me
٢٦
[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."
23:27
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ
So We inspired
إِلَيۡهِ
to him
أَنِ
That
ٱصۡنَعِ
construct
ٱلۡفُلۡكَ
the ship
بِأَعۡيُنِنَا
under Our eyes
وَوَحۡيِنَا
and Our inspiration
فَإِذَا
then when
جَآءَ
comes
أَمۡرُنَا
Our Command
وَفَارَ
and gushes forth
ٱلتَّنُّورُ‌ۙ
the oven
فَٱسۡلُكۡ
then put
فِيهَا
into it
مِن
of
كُلٍّ
every (kind)
زَوۡجَيۡنِ
(of) mates
ٱثۡنَيۡنِ
two
وَأَهۡلَكَ
and your family
إِلَّا
except
مَن
those
سَبَقَ
(has) preceded
عَلَيۡهِ
against whom
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
the Word
مِنۡهُمۡ‌ۖ
thereof
وَلَا
And (do) not
تُخَـٰطِبۡنِى
address Me
فِى
concerning
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ظَلَمُوٓاۡ‌ۖ
wronged
إِنَّهُم
indeed, they
مُّغۡرَقُونَ
(are) the ones to be drowned
٢٧
So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows,1 put into it [i.e., the ship] from each [creature] two mates and your family, except him for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.
23:28
فَإِذَا
And when
ٱسۡتَوَيۡتَ
you (have) boarded
أَنتَ
you
وَمَن
and whoever
مَّعَكَ
(is) with you
عَلَى
[on]
ٱلۡفُلۡكِ
the ship
فَقُلِ
then say
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
Praise
لِلَّهِ
(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِى
Who
نَجَّـٰنَا
(has) saved us
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
٢٨
And when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allāh who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.'
23:29
وَقُل
And say
رَّبِّ
My Lord
أَنزِلۡنِى
cause me to land
مُنزَلاً
(at) a landing place
مُّبَارَكًا
blessed
وَأَنتَ
and You
خَيۡرُ
(are) the Best
ٱلۡمُنزِلِينَ
(of) those who cause to land.'
٢٩
And say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us].'"
23:30
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَـٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
وَإِن
and indeed
كُنَّا
We are
لَمُبۡتَلِينَ
surely testing
٣٠
Indeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants].
23:31
ثُمَّ
Then
أَنشَأۡنَا
We produced
مِنۢ
after them
بَعۡدِهِمۡ
after them
قَرۡنًا
a generation
ءَاخَرِينَ
another
٣١
Then We produced after them a generation of others.
23:32
فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا
And We sent
فِيهِمۡ
among them
رَسُولاً
a Messenger
مِّنۡهُمۡ
from themselves
أَنِ
[that]
ٱعۡبُدُواۡ
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَا
not
لَكُم
for you
مِّنۡ
(is) any
إِلَـٰهٍ
god
غَيۡرُهُۥٓ‌ۖ
other than Him
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
you fear
٣٢
And We sent among them a messenger1 from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
23:33
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلۡمَلَأُ
the chiefs
مِن
of
قَوۡمِهِ
his people
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
وَكَذَّبُواۡ
and denied
بِلِقَآءِ
(the) meeting
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
(of) the Hereafter
وَأَتۡرَفۡنَـٰهُمۡ
while We had given them luxury
فِى
in
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
مَا
Not
هَـٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
but
بَشَرٌ
a man
مِّثۡلُكُمۡ
like you
يَأۡكُلُ
He eats
مِمَّا
of what
تَأۡكُلُونَ
you eat
مِنۡهُ
[from it]
وَيَشۡرَبُ
and he drinks
مِمَّا
of what
تَشۡرَبُونَ
you drink
٣٣
And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.
23:34
وَلَئِنۡ
And surely if
أَطَعۡتُم
you obey
بَشَرًا
a man
مِّثۡلَكُمۡ
like you
إِنَّكُمۡ
indeed, you
إِذًا
then
لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ
surely (will be) losers
٣٤
And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers.
23:35
أَيَعِدُكُمۡ
Does he promise you
أَنَّكُمۡ
that you
إِذَا
when
مِتُّمۡ
you are dead
وَكُنتُمۡ
and you become
تُرَابًا
dust
وَعِظَـٰمًا
and bones
أَنَّكُم
that you
مُّخۡرَجُونَ
(will be) brought forth
٣٥
Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]?
23:36
۞هَيۡهَاتَ
Far-(fetched)
هَيۡهَاتَ
far-(fetched)
لِمَا
is what
تُوعَدُونَ
you are promised
٣٦
How far, how far, is that which you are promised.1
23:37
إِنۡ
Not
هِىَ
it
إِلَّا
(is) but
حَيَاتُنَا
our life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
نَمُوتُ
we die
وَنَحۡيَا
and we live
وَمَا
and not
نَحۡنُ
we
بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ
(will be) resurrected
٣٧
It [i.e., life] is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected.
23:38
إِنۡ
Not
هُوَ
(is) he
إِلَّا
but
رَجُلٌ
a man
ٱفۡتَرَىٰ
who (has) invented
عَلَى
about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
كَذِبًا
a lie
وَمَا
and not
نَحۡنُ
we
لَهُۥ
(in) him
بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
(are) believers
٣٨
He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allāh, and we will not believe him."
23:39
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
ٱنصُرۡنِى
Help me
بِمَا
because
كَذَّبُونِ
they deny me
٣٩
He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."
23:40
قَالَ
He said
عَمَّا
After a little while
قَلِيلٍ
After a little while
لَّيُصۡبِحُنَّ
surely they will become
نَـٰدِمِينَ
regretful
٤٠
[Allāh] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful."
23:41
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ
So seized them
ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ
the awful cry
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ
and We made them
غُثَآءً‌ۚ
(as) rubbish of dead leaves
فَبُعۡدًا
So away
لِّلۡقَوۡمِ
with the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
٤١
So the shriek1 seized them in truth,2 and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people.
23:42
ثُمَّ
Then
أَنشَأۡنَا
We produced
مِنۢ
after them
بَعۡدِهِمۡ
after them
قُرُونًا
a generation
ءَاخَرِينَ
another
٤٢
Then We produced after them other generations.
23:43
مَا
Not
تَسۡبِقُ
can precede
مِنۡ
any
أُمَّةٍ
nation
أَجَلَهَا
its term
وَمَا
and not
يَسۡتَــٔۡخِرُونَ
they (can) delay (it)
٤٣
No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter].
23:44
ثُمَّ
Then
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
رُسُلَنَا
Our Messengers
تَتۡرَا‌ۖ
(in) succession
كُلَّ
Every time
مَا
Every time
جَآءَ
came
أُمَّةً
(to) a nation
رَّسُولُهَا
its Messenger
كَذَّبُوهُ‌ۚ
they denied him
فَأَتۡبَعۡنَا
so We made (them) follow
بَعۡضَهُم
some of them
بَعۡضًا
others
وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ
and We made them
أَحَادِيثَ‌ۚ
narrations
فَبُعۡدًا
So away
لِّقَوۡمٍ
with a people
لَّا
not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
they believe
٤٤
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations.1 So away with a people who do not believe.
23:45
ثُمَّ
Then
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
مُوسَىٰ
Musa
وَأَخَاهُ
and his brother
هَـٰرُونَ
Harun
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا
with Our Signs
وَسُلۡطَـٰنٍ
and an authority
مُّبِينٍ
clear
٤٥
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority1
23:46
إِلَىٰ
To
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
وَمَلَإِيۡهِۦ
and his chiefs
فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواۡ
but they behaved arrogantly
وَكَانُواۡ
and they were
قَوۡمًا
a people
عَالِينَ
haughty
٤٦
To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people.
23:47
فَقَالُوٓاۡ
Then they said
أَنُؤۡمِنُ
Shall we believe
لِبَشَرَيۡنِ
(in) two men
مِثۡلِنَا
like ourselves
وَقَوۡمُهُمَا
while their people
لَنَا
for us
عَـٰبِدُونَ
(are) slaves
٤٧
They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"
23:48
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا
So they denied them
فَكَانُواۡ
and they became
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُهۡلَكِينَ
those who were destroyed
٤٨
So they denied them and were of those destroyed.
23:49
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
ءَاتَيۡنَا
We gave
مُوسَى
Musa
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Scripture
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
so that they may
يَهۡتَدُونَ
be guided
٤٩
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they1 would be guided.
23:50
وَجَعَلۡنَا
And We made
ٱبۡنَ
(the) son
مَرۡيَمَ
(of) Maryam
وَأُمَّهُۥٓ
and his mother
ءَايَةً
a Sign
وَءَاوَيۡنَـٰهُمَآ
and We sheltered them
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبۡوَةٍ
a high ground
ذَاتِ
of tranquility
قَرَارٍ
of tranquility
وَمَعِينٍ
and water springs
٥٠
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water.
23:51
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O Messengers
ٱلرُّسُلُ
O Messengers
كُلُواۡ
Eat
مِنَ
of
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
the good things
وَٱعۡمَلُواۡ
and do
صَـٰلِحًا‌ۖ
righteous (deeds)
إِنِّى
Indeed, I Am
بِمَا
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
you do
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knower
٥١
[Allāh said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Knowing.
23:52
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
this
أُمَّتُكُمۡ
your religion
أُمَّةً
(is) religion
وٰحِدَةً
one
وَأَنَاۡ
And I Am
رَبُّكُمۡ
your Lord
فَٱتَّقُونِ
so fear Me
٥٢
And indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so fear Me."
23:53
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓاۡ
But they cut off
أَمۡرَهُم
their affair (of unity)
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
between them
زُبُرًا‌ۖ
(into) sects
كُلُّ
each
حِزۡبِۭ
faction
بِمَا
in what
لَدَيۡهِمۡ
they have
فَرِحُونَ
rejoicing
٥٣
But they [i.e., the people] divided their religion among them into portions [i.e., sects] - each faction, in what it has,1 rejoicing.
23:54
فَذَرۡهُمۡ
So leave them
فِى
in
غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ
their confusion
حَتَّىٰ
until
حِينٍ
a time
٥٤
So leave them in their confusion for a time.
23:55
أَيَحۡسَبُونَ
Do they think
أَنَّمَا
that what
نُمِدُّهُم
We extend to them
بِهِۦ
[with it]
مِن
of
مَّالٍ
wealth
وَبَنِينَ
and children
٥٥
Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children
23:56
نُسَارِعُ
We hasten
لَهُمۡ
to them
فِى
in
ٱلۡخَيۡرٰتِ‌ۚ
the good
بَل
Nay
لَّا
not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
they perceive
٥٦
Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive.1
23:57
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
هُم
[they]
مِّنۡ
from
خَشۡيَةِ
(the) fear
رَبِّهِم
(of) their Lord
مُّشۡفِقُونَ
(are) cautious
٥٧
Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord
23:58
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those
هُم
[they]
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ
in (the) Signs
رَبِّهِمۡ
(of) their Lord
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
٥٨
And they who believe in the signs of their Lord
23:59
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those
هُم
[they]
بِرَبِّهِمۡ
with their Lord
لَا
(do) not
يُشۡرِكُونَ
associate partners
٥٩
And they who do not associate anything with their Lord
23:60
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
يُؤۡتُونَ
give
مَآ
what
ءَاتَواۡ
they give
وَّقُلُوبُهُمۡ
while their hearts
وَجِلَةٌ
(are) fearful
أَنَّهُمۡ
because they
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّهِمۡ
their Lord
رٰجِعُونَ
(will) return
٦٠
And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful1 because they will be returning to their Lord -
23:61
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
(It is) those
يُسَـٰرِعُونَ
who hasten
فِى
in
ٱلۡخَيۡرٰتِ
the good (deeds)
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَهَا
in them
سَـٰبِقُونَ
(are) foremost
٦١
It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.
23:62
وَلَا
And not
نُكَلِّفُ
We burden
نَفۡسًا
any soul
إِلَّا
except
وُسۡعَهَا‌ۖ
(to) its capacity
وَلَدَيۡنَا
and with Us
كِتَـٰبٌ
(is) a Record
يَنطِقُ
(which) speaks
بِٱلۡحَقِّ‌ۚ
with the truth
وَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
(will) not
يُظۡلَمُونَ
be wronged
٦٢
And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.
23:63
بَلۡ
Nay
قُلُوبُهُمۡ
their hearts
فِى
(are) in
غَمۡرَةٍ
confusion
مِّنۡ
over
هَـٰذَا
this
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
أَعۡمَـٰلٌ
(are) deeds
مِّن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ذٰلِكَ
that
هُمۡ
they
لَهَا
for it
عَـٰمِلُونَ
(are) doers
٦٣
But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides that [i.e., disbelief] which they are doing,
23:64
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَآ
when
أَخَذۡنَا
We seize
مُتۡرَفِيهِم
their affluent ones
بِٱلۡعَذَابِ
with the punishment
إِذَا
behold
هُمۡ
They
يَجۡــَٔرُونَ
cry for help
٦٤
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment,1 at once they are crying [to Allāh] for help.
23:65
لَا
(Do) not
تَجۡــَٔرُواۡ
cry for help
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ‌ۖ
today
إِنَّكُم
Indeed, you
مِّنَّا
from Us
لَا
not
تُنصَرُونَ
will be helped
٦٥
Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped.
23:66
قَدۡ
Verily

ءَايَـٰتِى
My Verses

recited
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
to you
فَكُنتُمۡ
but you used
عَلَىٰٓ
(to) on
أَعۡقَـٰبِكُمۡ
your heels
تَنكِصُونَ
turn back
٦٦
My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels.
23:67
مُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ
(Being) arrogant
بِهِۦ
about it
سَـٰمِرًا
conversing by night
تَهۡجُرُونَ
speaking evil
٦٧
In arrogance regarding it,1 conversing by night, speaking evil.
23:68
أَفَلَمۡ
Then, do not
يَدَّبَّرُواۡ
they ponder
ٱلۡقَوۡلَ
the Word
أَمۡ
or
جَآءَهُم
has come to them
مَّا
what
لَمۡ
not
يَأۡتِ
(had) come
ءَابَآءَهُمُ
(to) their forefathers
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(to) their forefathers
٦٨
Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Qur’ān], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?
23:69
أَمۡ
Or
لَمۡ
(do) not
يَعۡرِفُواۡ
they recognize
رَسُولَهُمۡ
their Messenger
فَهُمۡ
so they
لَهُۥ
(are) rejecting him
مُنكِرُونَ
(are) rejecting him
٦٩
Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?
23:70
أَمۡ
Or
يَقُولُونَ
they say
بِهِۦ
In him
جِنَّةُۢ‌ۚ
(is) madness
بَلۡ
Nay
جَآءَهُم
he brought them
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
the truth
وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
but most of them
لِلۡحَقِّ
to the truth
كَـٰرِهُونَ
(are) averse
٧٠
Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse.
23:71
وَلَوِ
But if
ٱتَّبَعَ
(had) followed
ٱلۡحَقُّ
the truth
أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ
their desires
لَفَسَدَتِ
surely (would) have been corrupted
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتُ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ
and the earth
وَمَن
and whoever
فِيهِنَّ‌ۚ
(is) therein
بَلۡ
Nay
أَتَيۡنَـٰهُم
We have brought them
بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ
their reminder
فَهُمۡ
but they
عَن
from
ذِكۡرِهِم
their reminder
مُّعۡرِضُونَ
(are) turning away
٧١
But if the Truth [i.e., Allāh] had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message,1 but they, from their message, are turning away.
23:72
أَمۡ
Or
تَسۡــَٔلُهُمۡ
you ask them
خَرۡجًا
(for) a payment
فَخَرَاجُ
But the payment
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
خَيۡرٌ‌ۖ
(is) best
وَهُوَ
and He
خَيۡرُ
(is) the Best
ٱلرّٰزِقِينَ
(of) the Providers
٧٢
Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers.
23:73
وَإِنَّكَ
And indeed, you
لَتَدۡعُوهُمۡ
certainly call them
إِلَىٰ
to
صِرٰطٍ
(the) Path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٍ
Straight
٧٣
And indeed, you invite them to a straight path.
23:74
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
عَنِ
from
ٱلصِّرٰطِ
the path
لَنَـٰكِبُونَ
surely (are) deviating
٧٤
But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path.
23:75
۞وَلَوۡ
And if
رَحِمۡنَـٰهُمۡ
We had mercy on them
وَكَشَفۡنَا
and We removed
مَا
what
بِهِم
(was) on them
مِّن
of
ضُرٍّ
(the) hardship
لَّلَجُّواۡ
surely they would persist
فِى
in
طُغۡيَـٰنِهِمۡ
their transgression
يَعۡمَهُونَ
wandering blindly
٧٥
And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
23:76
وَلَقَدۡ
And verily
أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم
We seized them
بِٱلۡعَذَابِ
with the punishment
فَمَا
but not
ٱسۡتَكَانُواۡ
they submit
لِرَبِّهِمۡ
to their Lord
وَمَا
and not
يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
they supplicate humbly
٧٦
And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]
23:77
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
فَتَحۡنَا
We opened
عَلَيۡهِم
for them
بَابًا
a gate
ذَا
of a punishment
عَذَابٍ
of a punishment
شَدِيدٍ
severe
إِذَا
behold
هُمۡ
They
فِيهِ
in it
مُبۡلِسُونَ
(will be in) despair
٧٧
Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair.
23:78
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One Who

little
مَّا

you give thanks
٧٨
And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.
23:79
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
ذَرَأَكُمۡ
multiplied you
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
وَإِلَيۡهِ
and to Him
تُحۡشَرُونَ
you will be gathered
٧٩
And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.
23:80
وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
يُحۡىِۦ
gives life
وَيُمِيتُ
and causes death
وَلَهُ
and for Him
ٱخۡتِلَـٰفُ
(is the) alternation
ٱلَّيۡلِ
(of) the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ‌ۚ
and the day
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَعۡقِلُونَ
you reason
٨٠
And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason?
23:81
بَلۡ
Nay

٨١
Rather,1 they say like what the former peoples said.
23:82
قَالُوٓاۡ
They said
أَءِذَا
What! When
مِتۡنَا
we are dead

and become
تُرَابًا
dust
وَعِظَـٰمًا
and bones
أَءِنَّا
would we
لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
surely be resurrected
٨٢
They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
23:83
لَقَدۡ
Verily

We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples."
23:84

قُلۡ

They will say, "To Allāh." Say, "Then will you not remember?"

٨٦
Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"
23:87
سَيَقُولُونَ
They will say

Allah
قُلۡ
Say
أَفَلَا

٨٧
They will say, "[They belong] to Allāh." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?"

Say, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know?"
23:89
سَيَقُولُونَ
They will say
لِلَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
قُلۡ
Say
فَأَنَّىٰ
Then how
تُسۡحَرُونَ
are you deluded
٨٩
They will say, "[All belongs] to Allāh." Say, "Then how are you deluded?"
23:90
بَلۡ
Nay
أَتَيۡنَـٰهُم
We (have) brought them
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
the truth
وَإِنَّهُمۡ
but indeed, they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
surely, (are) liars
٩٠
Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars.
23:91

Glory be
ٱللَّهِ
(to) Allah
عَمَّا
above what
يَصِفُونَ
they attribute
٩١
Allāh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others. Exalted is Allāh above what they describe [concerning Him].
23:92
عَـٰلِمِ
Knower
ٱلۡغَيۡبِ

فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
exalted is He
عَمَّا
above what

٩٢
[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him].
23:93
قُل
Say

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
٩٤
My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people."
23:95
وَإِنَّا
And indeed We

We show you
مَا
what
نَعِدُهُمۡ
We have promised them
لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
surely able
٩٥
And indeed, We are Able to show you what We have promised them.
23:96
ٱدۡفَعۡ
Repel
بِٱلَّتِى
by that
هِىَ
which
أَحۡسَنُ

ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ‌ۚ
the evil
نَحۡنُ
We
أَعۡلَمُ
know best
بِمَا
of what
يَصِفُونَ
they attribute
٩٦
Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.
23:97
وَقُل
And say
رَّبِّ
My Lord

I seek refuge

(the) suggestions
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
(of) the evil ones
٩٧
And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils,
23:98
وَأَعُوذُ
And I seek refuge
بِكَ
in You
رَبِّ
My Lord
أَن
Lest
يَحۡضُرُونِ
they be present with me
٩٨
And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me."
23:99
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
جَآءَ
comes
أَحَدَهُمُ
(to) one of them
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
the death

he says
رَبِّ
My Lord
ٱرۡجِعُونِ
Send me back
٩٩
[For such is the state of the disbelievers] until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back
23:100
لَعَلِّىٓ

and before them

they are resurrected
١٠٠
That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind."1 No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.
23:101
فَإِذَا
So when
نُفِخَ
is blown
فِى
in
ٱلصُّورِ

بَيۡنَهُمۡ
among them
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
that Day
وَلَا
and not
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
will they ask each other
١٠١
So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.
23:102
فَمَن

then those

they
ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
(are) the successful
١٠٢
And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful.
23:103
وَمَنۡ
But (the one) whose
خَفَّتۡ

have lost

Hell

they (will) abide forever
١٠٣
But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally.
23:104

their faces
ٱلنَّارُ
the Fire
وَهُمۡ

١٠٤
The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles.1

بِهَا
deny them
تُكَذِّبُونَ
deny them
١٠٥
[It will be said], "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them?"
23:106
قَالُواۡ
They (will) say
رَبَّنَا
Our Lord
غَلَبَتۡ
Overcame
عَلَيۡنَا
[on] us
شِقۡوَتُنَا
our wretchedness
وَكُنَّا
and we were
قَوۡمًا
a people
ضَآلِّينَ
astray
١٠٦
They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.
23:107
رَبَّنَآ
Our Lord
أَخۡرِجۡنَا
Bring us out
مِنۡهَا
from it
فَإِنۡ
then if
عُدۡنَا
we return
فَإِنَّا
then indeed, we
ظَـٰلِمُونَ
(would be) wrongdoers
١٠٧
Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."
23:108
قَالَ
He (will) say
ٱخۡسَــُٔواۡ
Remain despised
فِيهَا
in it
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُكَلِّمُونِ
speak to Me
١٠٨
He will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me.
23:109
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed
كَانَ
(there) was
فَرِيقٌ
a party
مِّنۡ
of
عِبَادِى
My slaves
يَقُولُونَ
(who) said
رَبَّنَآ
Our Lord
ءَامَنَّا
We believe
فَٱغۡفِرۡ
so forgive
لَنَا
us
وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا
and have mercy on us
وَأَنتَ
and You
خَيۡرُ
(are) best
ٱلرّٰحِمِينَ
(of) those who show mercy
١٠٩
Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'
23:110
فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ
But you took them
سِخۡرِيًّا
(in) mockery
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
أَنسَوۡكُمۡ
they made you forget
ذِكۡرِى
My remembrance
وَكُنتُم
and you used (to)
مِّنۡهُمۡ
at them
تَضۡحَكُونَ
laugh
١١٠
But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.
23:111
إِنِّى
Indeed, I
جَزَيۡتُهُمُ
have rewarded them
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
this Day
بِمَا
because
صَبَرُوٓاۡ
they were patient
أَنَّهُمۡ
indeed, they
هُمُ
[they]
ٱلۡفَآئِزُونَ
(are) the successful ones
١١١
Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]."
23:112
قَـٰلَ
He will say
كَمۡ
How long
لَبِثۡتُمۡ
did you remain
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
عَدَدَ
(in) number
سِنِينَ
(of) years
١١٢
[Allāh] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years?"
23:113
قَالُواۡ
They will say
لَبِثۡنَا
We remained
يَوۡمًا
a day
أَوۡ
or
بَعۡضَ
a part
يَوۡمٍ
(of) a day
فَسۡــَٔلِ
but ask
ٱلۡعَآدِّينَ
those who keep count
١١٣
They will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate."
23:114
قَـٰلَ
He will say
إِن
Not
لَّبِثۡتُمۡ
you stayed
إِلَّا
but
قَلِيلاً‌ۖ
a little
لَّوۡ
if
أَنَّكُمۡ
only you
كُنتُمۡ
[you]
تَعۡلَمُونَ
knew
١١٤
He will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known.
23:115
أَفَحَسِبۡتُمۡ
Then did you think
أَنَّمَا
that
خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ
We created you
عَبَثًا
uselessly
وَأَنَّكُمۡ
and that you
إِلَيۡنَا
to Us
لَا
not
تُرۡجَعُونَ
will be returned
١١٥
Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?"
23:116
فَتَعَـٰلَى
So exalted is
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
the King
ٱلۡحَقُّ‌ۖ
the Truth
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
god
إِلَّا
except
هُوَ
Him
رَبُّ
(the) Lord
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
(of) the Throne
ٱلۡكَرِيمِ
Honorable
١١٦
So exalted is Allāh, the Sovereign,1 the Truth;2 there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.
23:117
وَمَن
And whoever
يَدۡعُ
invokes
مَعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا
god
ءَاخَرَ
other
لَا
no
بُرۡهَـٰنَ
proof
لَهُۥ
for him
بِهِۦ
in it
فَإِنَّمَا
Then only
حِسَابُهُۥ
his account
عِندَ
(is) with
رَبِّهِۦٓ‌ۚ
his Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, [he]
لَا
not
يُفۡلِحُ
will succeed
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ
the disbelievers
١١٧
And whoever invokes besides Allāh another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.
23:118
وَقُل
And say
رَّبِّ
My Lord
ٱغۡفِرۡ
Forgive
وَٱرۡحَمۡ
and have mercy
وَأَنتَ
and You
خَيۡرُ
(are the) Best
ٱلرّٰحِمِينَ
(of) those who show mercy
١١٨
And, [O Muḥammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful."
24:1
سُورَةٌ
A Surah
أَنزَلۡنَـٰهَا
We (have) sent it down
وَفَرَضۡنَـٰهَا
and We (have) made it obligatory
وَأَنزَلۡنَا
and We (have) revealed
فِيهَآ
therein
ءَايَـٰتِۭ
Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
clear
لَّعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ
take heed
١
[This is] a sūrah which We have sent down and made [that within it] obligatory and revealed therein verses of clear evidence that you might remember.
24:2
ٱلزَّانِيَةُ
The fornicatress
وَٱلزَّانِى
and the fornicator
فَٱجۡلِدُواۡ
[then] flog
كُلَّ
each
وٰحِدٍ
one
مِّنۡهُمَا
of them
مِاۡئَةَ
(with) hundred
جَلۡدَةٍ‌ۖ
lash(es)
وَلَا
And (let) not
تَأۡخُذۡكُم
withhold you
بِهِمَا
pity for them
رَأۡفَةٌ
pity for them
فِى
concerning
دِينِ
(the) religion of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) religion of Allah
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you
تُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
and the Day
ٱلۡأَخِرِ‌ۖ
the Last
وَلۡيَشۡهَدۡ
And let witness
عَذَابَهُمَا
their punishment
طَآئِفَةٌ
a group
مِّنَ
of
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
the believers
٢
The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse1 - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes,2 and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion [i.e., law] of Allāh,3 if you should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.
24:3
ٱلزَّانِى
The fornicator
لَا
(will) not
يَنكِحُ
marry
إِلَّا
except
زَانِيَةً
a fornicatress
أَوۡ
or
مُشۡرِكَةً
a polytheist woman
وَٱلزَّانِيَةُ
and the fornicatress
لَا
(will) not
يَنكِحُهَآ
marry her
إِلَّا
except
زَانٍ
a fornicator
أَوۡ
or
مُشۡرِكٌ‌ۚ
a polytheist man
وَحُرِّمَ
And is forbidden
ذٰلِكَ
that
عَلَى
to
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
the believers
٣
The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator1 or a polytheist, and that [i.e., marriage to such persons] has been made unlawful to the believers.
24:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
يَرۡمُونَ
accuse
ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتِ
the chaste women
ثُمَّ
then
لَمۡ
not
يَأۡتُواۡ
they bring
بِأَرۡبَعَةِ
four
شُهَدَآءَ
witnesses
فَٱجۡلِدُوهُمۡ
then flog them
ثَمَـٰنِينَ
(with) eighty
جَلۡدَةً
lashe(s)
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَقۡبَلُواۡ
accept
لَهُمۡ
their
شَهَـٰدَةً
testimony
أَبَدًا‌ۚ
ever
وَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
And those
هُمُ
they
ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ
(are) the defiantly disobedient
٤
And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient,
24:5
إِلَّا
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
تَابُواۡ
repent
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
ذٰلِكَ
that
وَأَصۡلَحُواۡ
and reform
فَإِنَّ
Then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful
٥
Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
24:6
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
يَرۡمُونَ
accuse
أَزۡوٰجَهُمۡ
their spouses
وَلَمۡ
and not
يَكُن
have
لَّهُمۡ
for them
شُهَدَآءُ
witnesses
إِلَّآ
except
أَنفُسُهُمۡ
themselves
فَشَهَـٰدَةُ
then (the) testimony
أَحَدِهِمۡ
(of) one of them
أَرۡبَعُ
(is) four
شَهَـٰدٰتِۭ
testimonies
بِٱللَّهِ‌ۙ
by Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
that he
لَمِنَ
(is) surely of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
٦
And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and have no witnesses except themselves - then the witness of one of them1 [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allāh that indeed, he is of the truthful.
24:7
وَٱلۡخَـٰمِسَةُ
And the fifth
أَنَّ
that
لَعۡنَتَ
(the) curse of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(the) curse of Allah
عَلَيۡهِ
(be) upon him
إِن
if
كَانَ
he is
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِينَ
the liars
٧
And the fifth [oath will be] that the curse of Allāh be upon him if he should be of the liars.
24:8
وَيَدۡرَؤُاۡ
But it would prevent
عَنۡهَا
from her
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
the punishment
أَن
that
تَشۡهَدَ
she bears witness
أَرۡبَعَ
four
شَهَـٰدٰتِۭ
testimonies
بِٱللَّهِ‌ۙ
by Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
that he
لَمِنَ
(is) surely of
ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِينَ
the liars
٨
But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allāh that indeed, he is of the liars.
24:9
وَٱلۡخَـٰمِسَةَ
And the fifth
أَنَّ
that
غَضَبَ
the wrath of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
the wrath of Allah
عَلَيۡهَآ
(be) upon her
إِن
if
كَانَ
he is
مِنَ
of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
٩
And the fifth [oath will be] that the wrath of Allāh be upon her if he was of the truthful.
24:10
وَلَوۡلَا
And if not
فَضۡلُ
(for) the Grace of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(for) the Grace of Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
and His Mercy
وَأَنَّ
and that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
تَوَّابٌ
(is) Oft-Returning (to Mercy)
حَكِيمٌ
All-Wise
١٠
And if not for the favor of Allāh upon you and His mercy...1 and because Allāh is Accepting of Repentance and Wise.
24:11
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
جَآءُو
brought
بِٱلۡإِفۡكِ
the lie
عُصۡبَةٌ
(are) a group
مِّنكُمۡ‌ۚ
among you
لَا
(Do) not
تَحۡسَبُوهُ
think it
شَرًّا
bad
لَّكُم‌ۖ
for you
بَلۡ
nay
هُوَ
it
خَيۡرٌ
(is) good
لَّكُمۡ‌ۚ
for you
لِكُلِّ
For every
ٱمۡرِىٍٕ
person
مِّنۡهُم
among them
مَّا
(is) what
ٱكۡتَسَبَ
he earned
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡإِثۡمِ‌ۚ
the sin
وَٱلَّذِى
and the one who
تَوَلَّىٰ
took upon himself a greater share of it
كِبۡرَهُۥ
took upon himself a greater share of it
مِنۡهُمۡ
among them
لَهُۥ
for him
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great
١١
Indeed, those who came with falsehood1 are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather, it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin, and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof2 - for him is a great punishment [i.e., Hellfire].
24:12
لَّوۡلَآ
Why not
إِذۡ
when
سَمِعۡتُمُوهُ
you heard it
ظَنَّ
think
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
the believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتُ
and the believing women
بِأَنفُسِهِمۡ
good of themselves
خَيۡرًا
good of themselves
وَقَالُواۡ
and say
هَـٰذَآ
This
إِفۡكٌ
(is) a lie
مُّبِينٌ
clear
١٢
Why, when you heard it, did not the believing men and believing women think good of themselves [i.e., one another] and say, "This is an obvious falsehood"?
24:13
لَّوۡلَا
Why (did) not
جَآءُو
they bring
عَلَيۡهِ
for it
بِأَرۡبَعَةِ
four
شُهَدَآءَ‌ۚ
witnesses
فَإِذۡ
Then when
لَمۡ
not
يَأۡتُواۡ
they brought
بِٱلشُّهَدَآءِ
the witnesses
فَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
then those
عِندَ
near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
near Allah
هُمُ
they
ٱلۡكَـٰذِبُونَ
(are) the liars
١٣
Why did they [who slandered] not produce for it four witnesses? And when they do not produce the witnesses, then it is they, in the sight of Allāh, who are the liars.
24:14
وَلَوۡلَا
And if not
فَضۡلُ
(for the) Grace
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
and His Mercy
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
the world
وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
and the Hereafter
لَمَسَّكُمۡ
surely would have touched you
فِى
in
مَآ
what
أَفَضۡتُمۡ
you had rushed glibly
فِيهِ
concerning it
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great
١٤
And if it had not been for the favor of Allāh upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched for that [lie] in which you were involved by a great punishment
24:15
إِذۡ
When
تَلَقَّوۡنَهُۥ
you received it
بِأَلۡسِنَتِكُمۡ
with your tongues
وَتَقُولُونَ
and you said
بِأَفۡوَاهِكُم
with your mouths
مَّا
what
لَيۡسَ
not
لَكُم
for you
بِهِۦ
of it
عِلۡمٌ
any knowledge
وَتَحۡسَبُونَهُۥ
and you thought it
هَيِّنًا
(was) insignificant
وَهُوَ
while it
عِندَ
(was) near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(was) near Allah
عَظِيمٌ
great
١٥
When you received it with your tongues1 and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allāh, tremendous.
24:16
وَلَوۡلَآ
And why not
إِذۡ
when
سَمِعۡتُمُوهُ
you heard it
قُلۡتُم
you said
مَّا
Not
يَكُونُ
it is
لَنَآ
for us
أَن
that
نَّتَكَلَّمَ
we speak
بِهَـٰذَا
of this
سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ
Glory be to You
هَـٰذَا
This
بُهۡتَـٰنٌ
(is) a slander
عَظِيمٌ
great
١٦
And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allāh]; this is a great slander"?
24:17
يَعِظُكُمُ
Allah warns you
ٱللَّهُ
Allah warns you
أَن
that
تَعُودُواۡ
you return
لِمِثۡلِهِۦٓ
(to the) like of it
أَبَدًا
ever
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
believers
١٧
Allāh warns you against returning to the likes of this [conduct], ever, if you should be believers.
24:18
وَيُبَيِّنُ
And Allah makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah makes clear
لَكُمُ
to you
ٱلۡأَيَـٰتِ‌ۚ
the Verses
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٌ
All-Wise
١٨
And Allāh makes clear to you the verses [i.e., His rulings], and Allāh is Knowing and Wise.
24:19
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يُحِبُّونَ
like
أَن
that
تَشِيعَ
(should) spread
ٱلۡفَـٰحِشَةُ
the immorality
فِى
among
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
لَهُمۡ
for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
the world
وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِ‌ۚ
and the Hereafter
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
وَأَنتُمۡ
while you
لَا
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
know
١٩
Indeed, those who like that immorality1 should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allāh knows2 and you do not know.
24:20
وَلَوۡلَا
And if not
فَضۡلُ
(for the) Grace of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(for the) Grace of Allah

24:21
۞يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

All-Knower
٢١
O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allāh upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allāh purifies whom He wills, and Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.
24:22

And let not those of virtue among you and wealth swear not to give [aid] to their relatives and the needy and the emigrants for the cause of Allāh, and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allāh should forgive you? And Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

Allāh is the Light1 of the heavens and the earth. Allāh has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allāh creates what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

Allāh has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. [These are] three times of privacy1 for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them beyond these [periods], for they continually circulate among you - some of you, among others. Indeed, those who ask your permission, [O Muḥammad] - those are the ones who believe in Allāh and His Messenger. مُلۡكُ
(the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
وَلَمۡ
and not
يَتَّخِذۡ
He has taken
وَلَدًا
a son
وَلَمۡ
and not
يَكُن
He has
لَّهُۥ
for Him
شَرِيكٌ
a partner
فِى
in
ٱلۡمُلۡكِ
the dominion
وَخَلَقَ
and He (has) created
كُلَّ
every
شَىۡءٍ
thing
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
and determined it
تَقۡدِيرًا
(with) determination
٢
He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination.
25:3
وَٱتَّخَذُواۡ
Yet they have taken
مِن
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
ءَالِهَةً
gods
لَّا
not
يَخۡلُقُونَ
they create
شَيۡــًٔا
anything
وَهُمۡ
while they
يُخۡلَقُونَ
are created
وَلَا
and not
يَمۡلِكُونَ
they possess
لِأَنفُسِهِمۡ
for themselves
ضَرًّا
any harm
وَلَا
and not
نَفۡعًا
any benefit
وَلَا
and not
يَمۡلِكُونَ
they control
مَوۡتًا
death
وَلَا
and not
حَيَوٰةً
life
وَلَا
and not
نُشُورًا
resurrection
٣
But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.
25:4
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوٓاۡ
disbelieve
إِنۡ
Not
هَـٰذَآ
this
إِلَّآ
(is) but
إِفۡكٌ
a lie
ٱفۡتَرَٮٰهُ
he invented it
وَأَعَانَهُۥ
and helped him
عَلَيۡهِ
at it
قَوۡمٌ
people
ءَاخَرُونَ‌ۖ
other
فَقَدۡ
But verily
جَآءُو
they (have) produced
ظُلۡمًا
an injustice
وَزُورًا
and a lie
٤
And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur’ān] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie.
25:5
وَقَالُوٓاۡ
And they say
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
Tales
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former people
ٱكۡتَتَبَهَا
which he has had written
فَهِىَ
and they
تُمۡلَىٰ
are dictated
عَلَيۡهِ
to him
بُكۡرَةً
morning
وَأَصِيلاً
and evening
٥
And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."
25:6
قُلۡ
Say
أَنزَلَهُ
Has sent it down
ٱلَّذِى
the One Who
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
ٱلسِّرَّ
the secret
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۚ
and the earth
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
كَانَ
is
غَفُورًا
Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمًا
Most Merciful
٦
Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful."
25:7
وَقَالُواۡ
And they say
مَالِ
Why does
هَـٰذَا
this
ٱلرَّسُولِ
Messenger
يَأۡكُلُ
eat
ٱلطَّعَامَ
[the] food
وَيَمۡشِى
and walk
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَسۡوَاقِ‌ۙ
the markets
لَوۡلَآ
Why not
أُنزِلَ
is sent down
إِلَيۡهِ
to him
مَلَكٌ
an Angel
فَيَكُونَ
then he be
مَعَهُۥ
with him
نَذِيرًا
a warner
٧
And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?
25:8
أَوۡ
Or
يُلۡقَىٰٓ
is delivered
إِلَيۡهِ
to him
كَنزٌ
a treasure
أَوۡ
or
تَكُونُ
is
لَهُۥ
for him
جَنَّةٌ
a garden
يَأۡكُلُ
he may eat
مِنۡهَا‌ۚ
from it
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
the wrongdoers
إِن
Not
تَتَّبِعُونَ
you follow
إِلَّا
but
رَجُلاً
a man
مَّسۡحُورًا
bewitched
٨
Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."
25:9
ٱنظُرۡ
See
كَيۡفَ
how
ضَرَبُواۡ
they set forth
لَكَ
for you
ٱلۡأَمۡثَـٰلَ
the similitudes
فَضَلُّواۡ
but they have gone astray
فَلَا
so not
يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
they are able (to find)
سَبِيلاً
a way
٩
Look how they strike for you comparisons;1 but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way.
25:10
تَبَارَكَ
Blessed is He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
Who
إِن
if
شَآءَ
He willed
جَعَلَ
(could have) made
لَكَ
for you
خَيۡرًا
better
مِّن
than
ذٰلِكَ
that
جَنَّـٰتٍ
gardens
تَجۡرِى
flow
مِن
from
تَحۡتِهَا
underneath it
ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ
the rivers
وَيَجۡعَل
and He (could) make
لَّكَ
for you
قُصُورَۢا
palaces
١٠
Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have made for you [something] better than that - gardens beneath which rivers flow - and could make for you palaces.
25:11
بَلۡ
Nay
كَذَّبُواۡ
they deny
بِٱلسَّاعَةِ‌ۖ
the Hour
وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا
and We have prepared
لِمَن
for (those) who
كَذَّبَ
deny
بِٱلسَّاعَةِ
the Hour
سَعِيرًا
a Blazing Fire
١١
But they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze.
25:12
إِذَا
When
رَأَتۡهُم
it sees them
مِّن
from
مَّكَانِۭ
a place
بَعِيدٍ
far
سَمِعُواۡ
they will hear
لَهَا
its
تَغَيُّظًا
raging
وَزَفِيرًا
and roaring
١٢
When it [i.e., the Hellfire] sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring.
25:13
وَإِذَآ
And when
أُلۡقُواۡ
they are thrown
مِنۡهَا
thereof
مَكَانًا
(in) a place
ضَيِّقًا
narrow
مُّقَرَّنِينَ
bound in chains
دَعَوۡاۡ
they will call
هُنَالِكَ
there
ثُبُورًا
(for) destruction
١٣
And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction.
25:14
لَّا
(Do) not
تَدۡعُواۡ
call
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
this day
ثُبُورًا
(for) destruction
وٰحِدًا
one
وَٱدۡعُواۡ
but call
ثُبُورًا
(for) destructions
كَثِيرًا
many
١٤
[They will be told], "Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction."
25:15
قُلۡ
Say
أَذٰلِكَ
Is that
خَيۡرٌ
better
أَمۡ
or
جَنَّةُ
Garden
ٱلۡخُلۡدِ
(of) Eternity
ٱلَّتِى
which
وُعِدَ
is promised
ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ‌ۚ
(to) the righteous
كَانَتۡ
It will be
لَهُمۡ
for them
جَزَآءً
a reward
وَمَصِيرًا
and destination
١٥
Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination.
25:16
لَّهُمۡ
For them
فِيهَا
therein
مَا
(is) whatever
يَشَآءُونَ
they wish
خَـٰلِدِينَ‌ۚ
they will abide forever
كَانَ
It is
عَلَىٰ
on
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
وَعۡدًا
a promise
مَّسۡــُٔولاً
requested
١٦
For them therein is whatever they wish, [while] abiding eternally. It is ever upon your Lord a promise [worthy to be] requested.1
25:17
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ
He will gather them
وَمَا
and what
يَعۡبُدُونَ
they worship
مِن
besides Allah
دُونِ
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
besides Allah
فَيَقُولُ
and He will say
ءَأَنتُمۡ
Did you
أَضۡلَلۡتُمۡ
[you] mislead
عِبَادِى
My slaves
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
أَمۡ
or
هُمۡ
they
ضَلُّواۡ
went astray
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
(from) the way
١٧
And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allāh and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?"
25:18
قَالُواۡ
They say
سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ
Glory be to You
مَا
Not
كَانَ
it was proper
يَنۢبَغِى
it was proper
لَنَآ
for us
أَن
that
نَّتَّخِذَ
we take
مِن
besides You
دُونِكَ
besides You
مِنۡ
any
أَوۡلِيَآءَ
protectors
وَلَـٰكِن
But
مَّتَّعۡتَهُمۡ
You gave them comforts
وَءَابَآءَهُمۡ
and their forefathers
حَتَّىٰ
until
نَسُواۡ
they forgot
ٱلذِّكۡرَ
the Message
وَكَانُواۡ
and became
قَوۡمَۢا
a people
بُورًا
ruined
١٨
They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies [i.e., protectors]. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined."
25:19
فَقَدۡ
So verily
كَذَّبُوكُم
they deny you
بِمَا
in what
تَقُولُونَ
you say
فَمَا
so not
تَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
you are able
صَرۡفًا
(to) avert
وَلَا
and not
نَصۡرًا‌ۚ
(to) help
وَمَن
And whoever
يَظۡلِم
does wrong
مِّنكُمۡ
among you
نُذِقۡهُ
We will make him taste
عَذَابًا
a punishment
كَبِيرًا
great
١٩
So they will deny you, [disbelievers], in what you say,1 and you cannot avert [punishment] or [find] help. And whoever commits injustice2 among you - We will make him taste a great punishment.
25:20
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
We sent
قَبۡلَكَ
before you
مِنَ
any
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Messengers
إِلَّآ
but
إِنَّهُمۡ
indeed, they
لَيَأۡكُلُونَ
[surely] ate
ٱلطَّعَامَ
food
وَيَمۡشُونَ
and walked
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَسۡوَاقِ‌ۗ
the markets
وَجَعَلۡنَا
And We have made
بَعۡضَكُمۡ
some of you
لِبَعۡضٍ
for others
فِتۡنَةً
a trial
أَتَصۡبِرُونَ‌ۗ
will you have patience
وَكَانَ
And is
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
بَصِيرًا
All-Seer
٢٠
And We did not send before you, [O Muḥammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.
