2 Surahs88 Versesالحزب 39
27:56
۞فَمَا
But not
كَانَ
was
جَوَابَ
(the) answer
قَوۡمِهِۦٓ
(of) his people
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
قَالُوٓاۡ
they said
أَخۡرِجُوٓاۡ
Drive out
ءَالَ
(the) family
لُوطٍ
(of) Lut
مِّن
from
قَرۡيَتِكُمۡ‌ۖ
your town
إِنَّهُمۡ
Indeed, they
أُنَاسٌ
(are) people
يَتَطَهَّرُونَ
who keep clean and pure
٥٦
But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."
27:57
فَأَنجَيۡنَـٰهُ
So We saved him
وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ
and his family
إِلَّا
except
ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ
his wife
قَدَّرۡنَـٰهَا
We destined her
مِنَ
(to be) of
ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِينَ
those who remained behind
٥٧
So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.
27:58
وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا
And We rained
عَلَيۡهِم
upon them
مَّطَرًا‌ۖ
a rain
فَسَآءَ
and was evil
مَطَرُ
(the) rain
ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
(on) those who were warned
٥٨
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
27:59
قُلِ
Say
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise (be)
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
وَسَلَـٰمٌ
and peace (be)
عَلَىٰ
upon
عِبَادِهِ
His slaves
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
ٱصۡطَفَىٰٓ‌ۗ
He has chosen
ءَآللَّهُ
Is Allah
خَيۡرٌ
better
أَمَّا
or what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
they associate (with Him)
٥٩
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Praise be to Allāh, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allāh better or what they associate with Him?"
27:60
أَمَّنۡ
Or Who
خَلَقَ
has created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
and the earth
وَأَنزَلَ
and sent down
لَكُم
for you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءً
water
فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا
And We caused to grow
بِهِۦ
thereby
حَدَآئِقَ
gardens
ذَاتَ
of beauty (and delight)
بَهۡجَةٍ
of beauty (and delight)
مَّا
not
كَانَ
it is
لَكُمۡ
for you
أَن
that
تُنۢبِتُواۡ
you cause to grow
شَجَرَهَآ‌ۗ
their trees
أَءِلَـٰهٌ
Is there any god
مَّعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
بَلۡ
Nay
هُمۡ
they
قَوۡمٌ
(are) a people
يَعۡدِلُونَ
who ascribe equals
٦٠
[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allāh?1 [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].
27:61
أَمَّن
Or Who
جَعَلَ
made
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
the earth
قَرَارًا
a firm abode
وَجَعَلَ
and made
خِلَـٰلَهَآ
(in) its midst
أَنۡهَـٰرًا
rivers
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَهَا
for it
رَوٰسِىَ
firm mountains
وَجَعَلَ
and made
بَيۡنَ
between
ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ
the two seas
حَاجِزًا‌ۗ
a barrier
أَءِلَـٰهٌ
Is there any god
مَّعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
بَلۡ
Nay
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٦١
Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but most of them do not know.
27:62
أَمَّن
Or Who
يُجِيبُ
responds
ٱلۡمُضۡطَرَّ
(to) the distressed one
إِذَا
when
دَعَاهُ
he calls Him
وَيَكۡشِفُ
and He removes
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the evil
وَيَجۡعَلُكُمۡ
and makes you
خُلَفَآءَ
inheritors
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۗ
(of) the earth
أَءِلَـٰهٌ
Is there any god
مَّعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
قَلِيلاً
Little
مَّا
(is) what
تَذَكَّرُونَ
you remember
٦٢
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth?1 Is there a deity with Allāh? Little do you remember.
27:63
أَمَّن
Or Who
يَهۡدِيكُمۡ
guides you
فِى
in
ظُلُمَـٰتِ
(the) darkness[es]
ٱلۡبَرِّ
(of) the land
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ
and the sea
وَمَن
and Who
يُرۡسِلُ
sends
ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ
the winds
بُشۡرَۢا
(as) glad tidings
بَيۡنَ
before
يَدَىۡ
before
رَحۡمَتِهِۦٓ‌ۗ
His Mercy
أَءِلَـٰهٌ
Is there any god
مَّعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
تَعَـٰلَى
High is
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
عَمَّا
above what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
they associate (with Him)
٦٣
Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allāh? High is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.
27:64
أَمَّن
Or Who
يَبۡدَؤُاۡ
originates
ٱلۡخَلۡقَ
the creation
ثُمَّ
then
يُعِيدُهُۥ
repeats it
وَمَن
and Who
يَرۡزُقُكُم
provides you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۗ
and the earth
أَءِلَـٰهٌ
Is there any god
مَّعَ
with
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
Allah
قُلۡ
Say
هَاتُواۡ
Bring forth
بُرۡهَـٰنَكُمۡ
your proof
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
truthful
٦٤
Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
27:65
قُل
Say
لَّا
No (one)
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مَن
whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
ٱلۡغَيۡبَ
(of) the unseen
إِلَّا
except
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
Allah
وَمَا
and not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
they perceive
أَيَّانَ
when
يُبۡعَثُونَ
they will be resurrected
٦٥
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allāh, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."
27:66
بَلِ
Nay
ٱدّٰرَكَ
is arrested
عِلۡمُهُمۡ
their knowledge
فِى
of
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ‌ۚ
the Hereafter
بَلۡ
Nay
هُمۡ
they
فِى
(are) in
شَكٍّ
doubt
مِّنۡهَا‌ۖ
about it
بَلۡ
Nay
هُم
they
مِّنۡهَا
about it
عَمُونَ
(are) blind
٦٦
Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.
27:67
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوٓاۡ
disbelieve
أَءِذَا
What, when
كُنَّا
we have become
تُرٰبًا
dust
وَءَابَآؤُنَآ
and our forefathers
أَئِنَّا
will we
لَمُخۡرَجُونَ
surely be brought out
٦٧
And those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]?
27:68
لَقَدۡ
Certainly
وُعِدۡنَا
we have been promised
هَـٰذَا
this
نَحۡنُ
we
وَءَابَآؤُنَا
and our forefathers
مِن
before
قَبۡلُ
before
إِنۡ
Not
هَـٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّآ
except
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
tales
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)
٦٨
We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples."
27:69
قُلۡ
Say
سِيرُواۡ
Travel
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
فَٱنظُرُواۡ
and see
كَيۡفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ
(the) end
ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
(of) the criminals
٦٩
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Proceed [i.e., travel] through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals."
27:70
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَحۡزَنۡ
grieve
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
over them
وَلَا
and not
تَكُن
be
فِى
in
ضَيۡقٍ
distress
مِّمَّا
from what
يَمۡكُرُونَ
they plot
٧٠
And grieve not over them or be in distress from what they conspire.
27:71
وَيَقُولُونَ
And they say
مَتَىٰ
When
هَـٰذَا
(will) this
ٱلۡوَعۡدُ
promise (be fulfilled)
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
truthful
٧١
And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"
27:72
قُلۡ
Say
عَسَىٰٓ
Perhaps
أَن
that
يَكُونَ
is
رَدِفَ
close behind
لَكُم
you
بَعۡضُ
some
ٱلَّذِى
(of) that which
تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
you seek to hasten
٧٢
Say, "Perhaps it is close behind you [i.e., very near] - some of that for which you are impatient.
27:73
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَذُو
(is) full of Bounty
فَضۡلٍ
(is) full of Bounty
عَلَى
for
ٱلنَّاسِ
the mankind
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
but
أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(are) not
يَشۡكُرُونَ
grateful
٧٣
And indeed, your Lord is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of them are not grateful."
27:74
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَيَعۡلَمُ
surely knows
مَا
what
تُكِنُّ
conceals
صُدُورُهُمۡ
their breasts
وَمَا
and what
يُعۡلِنُونَ
they declare
٧٤
And indeed, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.
27:75
وَمَا
And not (is)
مِنۡ
any (thing)
غَآئِبَةٍ
hidden
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
إِلَّا
but
فِى
(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍ
a Record
مُّبِينٍ
clear
٧٥
And there is nothing concealed1 within the heaven and the earth except that it is in a clear Register.2
27:76
إِنَّ
Indeed
هَـٰذَا
this
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
[the] Quran
يَقُصُّ
relates
عَلَىٰ
to
بَنِىٓ
(the) Children
إِسۡرٰٓءِيلَ
(of) Israel
أَكۡثَرَ
most
ٱلَّذِى
(of) that
هُمۡ
they
فِيهِ
in it
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
differ
٧٦
Indeed, this Qur’ān relates to the Children of Israel most of that over which they disagree.
27:77
وَإِنَّهُۥ
And indeed, it
لَهُدًى
(is) surely a guidance
وَرَحۡمَةٌ
and a mercy
لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
for the believers
٧٧
And indeed, it is guidance and mercy for the believers.
27:78
إِنَّ
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
يَقۡضِى
will judge
بَيۡنَهُم
between them
بِحُكۡمِهِۦ‌ۚ
by His Judgment
وَهُوَ
and He
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
the All-Knower
٧٨
Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
27:79
فَتَوَكَّلۡ
So put your trust
عَلَى
in
ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ
Allah
إِنَّكَ
indeed, you
عَلَى
(are) on
ٱلۡحَقِّ
the truth
ٱلۡمُبِينِ
manifest
٧٩
So rely upon Allāh; indeed, you are upon the clear truth.
27:80
إِنَّكَ
Indeed, you
لَا
(can) not
تُسۡمِعُ
cause to hear
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ
the dead
وَلَا
and not
تُسۡمِعُ
can you cause to hear
ٱلصُّمَّ
the deaf
ٱلدُّعَآءَ
the call
إِذَا
when
وَلَّوۡاۡ
they turn back
مُدۡبِرِينَ
retreating
٨٠
Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating.
27:81
وَمَآ
And not
أَنتَ
(can) you
بِهَـٰدِى
guide
ٱلۡعُمۡىِ
the blind
عَن
from
ضَلَـٰلَتِهِمۡ‌ۖ
their error
إِن
Not
تُسۡمِعُ
you can cause to hear
إِلَّا
except
مَن
(those) who
يُؤۡمِنُ
believe
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا
in Our Signs
فَهُم
so they
مُّسۡلِمُونَ
(are) Muslims
٨١
And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allāh].
27:82
۞وَإِذَا
And when
وَقَعَ
(is) fulfilled
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
the word
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
against them
أَخۡرَجۡنَا
We will bring forth
لَهُمۡ
for them
دَآبَّةً
a creature
مِّنَ
from
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
تُكَلِّمُهُمۡ
speaking to them
أَنَّ
that
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
كَانُواۡ
were
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا
of Our Signs
لَا
not
يُوقِنُونَ
certain
٨٢
And when the word [i.e., decree] befalls them,1 We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith].
27:83
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
نَحۡشُرُ
We will gather
مِن
from
كُلِّ
every
أُمَّةٍ
nation
فَوۡجًا
a troop
مِّمَّن
of (those) who
يُكَذِّبُ
deny
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا
Our Signs
فَهُمۡ
and they
يُوزَعُونَ
will be set in rows
٨٣
And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows
27:84
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
إِذَا
when
جَآءُو
they come
قَالَ
He will say
أَكَذَّبۡتُم
Did you deny
بِـَٔـايَـٰتِى
My Signs
وَلَمۡ
while not
تُحِيطُواۡ
you encompassed
بِهَا
them
عِلۡمًا
(in) knowledge
أَمَّاذَا
or what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٨٤
Until, when they arrive [at the place of Judgement], He will say, "Did you deny My signs while you encompassed them not in knowledge, or what [was it that] you were doing?"
27:85
وَوَقَعَ
And (will be) fulfilled
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
the word
عَلَيۡهِم
against them
بِمَا
because
ظَلَمُواۡ
they wronged
فَهُمۡ
and they
لَا
(will) not
يَنطِقُونَ
speak
٨٥
And the decree will befall them1 for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak.
27:86
أَلَمۡ
Do not
يَرَوۡاۡ
they see
أَنَّا
that We
جَعَلۡنَا
[We] have made
ٱلَّيۡلَ
the night
لِيَسۡكُنُواۡ
that they may rest
فِيهِ
in it
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
and the day
مُبۡصِرًا‌ۚ
giving visibility
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذٰلِكَ
that
لَأَيَـٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
لِّقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
who believe
٨٦
Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
27:87
وَيَوۡمَ
And (the) Day
يُنفَخُ
will be blown
فِى
[in]
ٱلصُّورِ
the trumpet
فَفَزِعَ
and will be terrified
مَن
whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَمَن
and whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
إِلَّا
except
مَن
whom
شَآءَ
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ
Allah wills
وَكُلٌّ
And all
أَتَوۡهُ
(will) come to Him
دٰخِرِينَ
humbled
٨٧
And [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allāh wills. And all will come to Him humbled.
27:88
وَتَرَى
And you see
ٱلۡجِبَالَ
the mountains
تَحۡسَبُهَا
thinking them
جَامِدَةً
firmly fixed
وَهِىَ
while they
تَمُرُّ
will pass
مَرَّ
(as the) passing
ٱلسَّحَابِ‌ۚ
(of) the clouds
صُنۡعَ
(The) Work
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓ
Who
أَتۡقَنَ
perfected
كُلَّ
all
شَىۡءٍ‌ۚ
things
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, He
خَبِيرُۢ
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
of what
تَفۡعَلُونَ
you do
٨٨
And you see the mountains, thinking them motionless,1 while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allāh, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Aware of that which you do.
27:89
مَن
Whoever
جَآءَ
comes
بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ
with the good
فَلَهُۥ
then for him
خَيۡرٌ
(will be) better
مِّنۡهَا
than it
وَهُم
and they
مِّن
from
فَزَعٍ
(the) terror
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
(of) that Day
ءَامِنُونَ
(will be) safe
٨٩
Whoever comes [at Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it, and they, from the terror of that Day, will be safe.
27:90
وَمَن
And whoever
جَآءَ
comes
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
with the evil
فَكُبَّتۡ
will be cast down
وُجُوهُهُمۡ
their faces
فِى
in
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
هَلۡ
Are
تُجۡزَوۡنَ
you recompensed
إِلَّا
except
مَا
(for) what
كُنتُمۡ
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
do
٩٠
And whoever comes with an evil deed1 - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?"
27:91
إِنَّمَآ
Only
أُمِرۡتُ
I am commanded
أَنۡ
that
أَعۡبُدَ
I worship
رَبَّ
(the) Lord
هَـٰذِهِ
(of) this
ٱلۡبَلۡدَةِ
city
ٱلَّذِى
the One Who
حَرَّمَهَا
made it sacred
وَلَهُۥ
and to Him (belongs)
كُلُّ
all
شَىۡءٍ‌ۖ
things
وَأُمِرۡتُ
And I am commanded
أَنۡ
that
أَكُونَ
I be
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
the Muslims
٩١
[Say, O Muḥammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city,1 who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [i.e., those who submit to Allāh].
27:92
وَأَنۡ

أَتۡلُوَاۡ
I recite
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ‌ۖ
the Quran
فَمَنِ

ٱهۡتَدَىٰ
accepts guidance
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
يَهۡتَدِى
he accepts guidance
لِنَفۡسِهِۦ‌ۖ
for himself
وَمَن
and whoever
ضَلَّ
goes astray
فَقُلۡ
then say
إِنَّمَآ
Only
أَنَاۡ
I am
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ
the warners
٩٢
And to recite the Qur’ān." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."
27:93
وَقُلِ
And say
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All praise (be)
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
سَيُرِيكُمۡ
He will show you

and you will recognize them
وَمَا
And your Lord is not
رَبُّكَ
And your Lord is not
بِغَـٰفِلٍ
unaware
عَمَّا
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
you do
٩٣
And say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."

مُوسَىٰ
(of) Musa
وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ
and Firaun
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
in truth
لِقَوۡمٍ
for a people
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
who believe
٣
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe.
28:4
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
عَلَا
exalted himself
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
وَجَعَلَ
and made
أَهۡلَهَا
its people
شِيَعًا
(into) sects
يَسۡتَضۡعِفُ
oppressing
طَآئِفَةً
a group
مِّنۡهُمۡ
among them
يُذَبِّحُ
slaughtering
أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ
their sons
وَيَسۡتَحۡىِۦ
and letting live
نِسَآءَهُمۡ‌ۚ
their women
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
كَانَ
was
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ
the corrupters
٤
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters.
28:5
وَنُرِيدُ
And We wanted
أَن
to
نَّمُنَّ
bestow a favor
عَلَى
upon
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُواۡ
were oppressed
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
وَنَجۡعَلَهُمۡ
and make them
أَئِمَّةً
leaders
وَنَجۡعَلَهُمُ
and make them
ٱلۡوٰرِثِينَ
the inheritors
٥
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors
28:6
وَنُمَكِّنَ
And [We] establish
لَهُمۡ
them
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
وَنُرِىَ
and show
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ
and Haman
وَجُنُودَهُمَا
and their hosts
مِنۡهُم
through them
مَّا
what
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَحۡذَرُونَ
fearing
٦
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Hāmān and their soldiers through them1 that which they had feared.
28:7
وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ
And We inspired
إِلَىٰٓ
[to]
أُمِّ
(the) mother
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
أَنۡ
that
أَرۡضِعِيهِ‌ۖ
Suckle him
فَإِذَا
but when
خِفۡتِ
you fear
عَلَيۡهِ
for him
فَأَلۡقِيهِ
then cast him
فِى
in(to)
ٱلۡيَمِّ
the river
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَخَافِى
fear
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَحۡزَنِىٓ‌ۖ
grieve
إِنَّا
Indeed, We
رَآدُّوهُ
(will) restore him
إِلَيۡكِ
to you
وَجَاعِلُوهُ
and (will) make him
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
the Messengers
٧
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."
28:8
فَٱلۡتَقَطَهُۥٓ
Then picked him up
ءَالُ
(the) family
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
(of) Firaun
لِيَكُونَ
so that he might become
لَهُمۡ
to them
عَدُوًّا
an enemy
وَحَزَنًا‌ۗ
and a grief
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firaun
وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ
and Haman
وَجُنُودَهُمَا
and their hosts
كَانُواۡ
were
خَـٰطِــِٔينَ
sinners
٨
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Hāmān and their soldiers were deliberate sinners.
28:9
وَقَالَتِ
And said
ٱمۡرَأَتُ
(the) wife
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
(of) Firaun
قُرَّتُ
A comfort
عَيۡنٍ
(of the) eye
لِّى
for me
وَلَكَ‌ۖ
and for you
لَا
(Do) not
تَقۡتُلُوهُ
kill him
عَسَىٰٓ
perhaps
أَن
(that)
يَنفَعَنَآ
he may benefit us
أَوۡ
or
نَتَّخِذَهُۥ
we may take him
وَلَدًا
(as) a son
وَهُمۡ
And they
لَا
(did) not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
perceive
٩
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.1
28:10
وَأَصۡبَحَ
And became
فُؤَادُ
(the) heart
أُمِّ
(of the) mother
مُوسَىٰ
(of) Musa
فَـٰرِغًا‌ۖ
empty
إِن
That
كَادَتۡ
she was near
لَتُبۡدِى
(to) disclosing
بِهِۦ
about him
لَوۡلَآ
if not
أَن
that
رَّبَطۡنَا
We strengthened
عَلَىٰ
[over]
قَلۡبِهَا
her heart
لِتَكُونَ
so that she would be
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
the believers
١٠
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.
28:11
وَقَالَتۡ
And she said
لِأُخۡتِهِۦ
to his sister
قُصِّيهِ‌ۖ
Follow him
فَبَصُرَتۡ
So she watched
بِهِۦ
him
عَن
from
جُنُبٍ
a distance
وَهُمۡ
while they
لَا
(did) not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
perceive
١١
And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not.
28:12
۞وَحَرَّمۡنَا
And We had forbidden
عَلَيۡهِ
for him
ٱلۡمَرَاضِعَ
the wet nurses
مِن
before
قَبۡلُ
before
فَقَالَتۡ
so she said
هَلۡ
Shall I
أَدُلُّكُمۡ
direct you
عَلَىٰٓ
to
أَهۡلِ
(the) people
بَيۡتٍ
(of) a house
يَكۡفُلُونَهُۥ
who will rear him
لَكُمۡ
for you
وَهُمۡ
while they
لَهُۥ
to him
نَـٰصِحُونَ
(will be) sincere
١٢
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before,1 so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"
28:13
فَرَدَدۡنَـٰهُ
So We restored him
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أُمِّهِۦ
his mother
كَىۡ
that
تَقَرَّ
might be comforted
عَيۡنُهَا
her eye
وَلَا
and not
تَحۡزَنَ
she may grieve
وَلِتَعۡلَمَ
and that she would know
أَنَّ
that
وَعۡدَ
the Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
the Promise of Allah
حَقٌّ
(is) true
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
But
أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
١٣
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allāh is true. But most of them [i.e., the people] do not know.
28:14
وَلَمَّا
And when
بَلَغَ
he reached
أَشُدَّهُۥ
his full strength
وَٱسۡتَوَىٰٓ
and became mature
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰهُ
We bestowed upon him
حُكۡمًا
wisdom
وَعِلۡمًا‌ۚ
and knowledge
وَكَذٰلِكَ
And thus
نَجۡزِى
We reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
the good-doers
١٤
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.
28:15
وَدَخَلَ
And he entered
ٱلۡمَدِينَةَ
the city
عَلَىٰ
at
حِينِ
a time
غَفۡلَةٍ
(of) inattention
مِّنۡ
of
أَهۡلِهَا
its people
فَوَجَدَ
and found
فِيهَا
therein
رَجُلَيۡنِ
two men
يَقۡتَتِلَانِ
fighting each other
هَـٰذَا
this
مِن
of
شِيعَتِهِۦ
his party
وَهَـٰذَا
and this
مِنۡ
of
عَدُوِّهِۦ‌ۖ
his enemy
فَٱسۡتَغَـٰثَهُ
And called him for help
ٱلَّذِى
the one who
مِن
(was) from
شِيعَتِهِۦ
his party
عَلَى
against
ٱلَّذِى
the one who
مِنۡ
(was) from
عَدُوِّهِۦ
his enemy
فَوَكَزَهُۥ
so Musa struck him with his fist
مُوسَىٰ
so Musa struck him with his fist
فَقَضَىٰ
and killed him
عَلَيۡهِ‌ۖ
and killed him
قَالَ
He said
هَـٰذَا
This (is)
مِنۡ
of
عَمَلِ
(the) deed
ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِ‌ۖ
(of) Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
عَدُوٌّ
(is) an enemy
مُّضِلٌّ
one who misleads
مُّبِينٌ
clearly
١٥
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people1 and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."
28:16
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
إِنِّى
Indeed, I
ظَلَمۡتُ
[I] have wronged
نَفۡسِى
my soul
فَٱغۡفِرۡ
so forgive
لِى
[for] me
فَغَفَرَ
Then He forgave
لَهُۥٓ‌ۚ
[for] him
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed He
هُوَ
He (is)
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
١٦
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
28:17
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
بِمَآ
Because
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
You have favored
عَلَىَّ
[on] me
فَلَنۡ
so not
أَكُونَ
I will be
ظَهِيرًا
a supporter
لِّلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
(of) the criminals
١٧
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."
28:18
فَأَصۡبَحَ
In the morning he was
فِى
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
the city
خَآئِفًا
fearful
يَتَرَقَّبُ
(and) was vigilant
فَإِذَا
when behold
ٱلَّذِى
The one who
ٱسۡتَنصَرَهُۥ
sought his help
بِٱلۡأَمۡسِ
the previous day
يَسۡتَصۡرِخُهُۥ‌ۚ
cried out to him for help
قَالَ
Said
لَهُۥ
to him
مُوسَىٰٓ
Musa
إِنَّكَ
Indeed, you
لَغَوِىٌّ
(are) surely a deviator
مُّبِينٌ
clear
١٨
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."
28:19
فَلَمَّآ
Then when
أَنۡ
[that]
أَرَادَ
he wanted
أَن
to
يَبۡطِشَ
strike
بِٱلَّذِى
the one who
هُوَ
[he] (was)
عَدُوٌّ
an enemy
لَّهُمَا
to both of them
قَالَ
he said
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ
O Musa
أَتُرِيدُ
Do you intend
أَن
to
تَقۡتُلَنِى
kill me
كَمَا
as
قَتَلۡتَ
you killed
نَفۡسَۢا
a person
بِٱلۡأَمۡسِ‌ۖ
yesterday
إِن
Not
تُرِيدُ
you want
إِلَّآ
but
أَن
that
تَكُونَ
you become
جَبَّارًا
a tyrant
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the earth
وَمَا
and not
تُرِيدُ
you want
أَن
that
تَكُونَ
you be
مِنَ
of
ٱلۡمُصۡلِحِينَ
the reformers
١٩
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he1 said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."
28:20
وَجَآءَ
And came
رَجُلٌ
a man
مِّنۡ
from
أَقۡصَا
(the) farthest end
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
(of) the city
يَسۡعَىٰ
running
قَالَ
He said
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ
O Musa
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلۡمَلَأَ
the chiefs
يَأۡتَمِرُونَ
are taking counsel
بِكَ
about you
لِيَقۡتُلُوكَ
to kill you
فَٱخۡرُجۡ
so leave
إِنِّى
indeed, I am
لَكَ
to you
مِنَ
of
ٱلنَّـٰصِحِينَ
the sincere advisors
٢٠
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors."
28:21
فَخَرَجَ
So he left
مِنۡهَا
from it
خَآئِفًا
fearing
يَتَرَقَّبُ‌ۖ
(and) vigilant
قَالَ
He said
رَبِّ
My Lord
نَجِّنِى
Save me
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
٢١
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."
28:22
وَلَمَّا
And when
تَوَجَّهَ
he turned his face
تِلۡقَآءَ
towards
مَدۡيَنَ
Madyan
قَالَ
he said
عَسَىٰ
Perhaps
رَبِّىٓ
my Lord
أَن
[that]
يَهۡدِيَنِى
will guide me
سَوَآءَ
(to the) sound
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
way
٢٢
And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way."
28:23
وَلَمَّا
And when
وَرَدَ
he came
مَآءَ
(to the) water
مَدۡيَنَ
(of) Madyan
وَجَدَ
he found
عَلَيۡهِ
on it
أُمَّةً
a group
مِّنَ
of
ٱلنَّاسِ
men
يَسۡقُونَ
watering
وَوَجَدَ
and he found
مِن
besides them
دُونِهِمُ
besides them
ٱمۡرَأَتَيۡنِ
two women
تَذُودَانِ‌ۖ
keeping back
قَالَ
He said
مَا
What
خَطۡبُكُمَا‌ۖ
(is the) matter with both of you
قَالَتَا
They said
لَا
We cannot water
نَسۡقِى
We cannot water
حَتَّىٰ
until
يُصۡدِرَ
take away
ٱلرِّعَآءُ‌ۖ
the shepherds
وَأَبُونَا
and our father
شَيۡخٌ
(is) a very old man
كَبِيرٌ
(is) a very old man
٢٣
And when he came to the water [i.e., well] of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women holding back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."
28:24
فَسَقَىٰ
So he watered
لَهُمَا
for them
ثُمَّ
Then
تَوَلَّىٰٓ
he turned back
إِلَى
to
ٱلظِّلِّ
the shade
فَقَالَ
and said
رَبِّ
My Lord
إِنِّى
Indeed, I am
لِمَآ
of whatever
أَنزَلۡتَ
You send
إِلَىَّ
to me
مِنۡ
of
خَيۡرٍ
good
فَقِيرٌ
(in) need
٢٤
So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."
28:25
فَجَآءَتۡهُ
Then came to him
إِحۡدَٮٰهُمَا
one of the two women
تَمۡشِى
walking
عَلَى
with
ٱسۡتِحۡيَآءٍ
shyness
قَالَتۡ
She said
إِنَّ
Indeed
أَبِى
my father
يَدۡعُوكَ
calls you
لِيَجۡزِيَكَ
that he may reward you
أَجۡرَ
(the) reward
مَا
(for) what
سَقَيۡتَ
you watered
لَنَا‌ۚ
for us
فَلَمَّا
So when
جَآءَهُۥ
he came to him
وَقَصَّ
and narrated
عَلَيۡهِ
to him
ٱلۡقَصَصَ
the story
قَالَ
he said
لَا
(Do) not
تَخَفۡ‌ۖ
fear
نَجَوۡتَ
You have escaped
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
٢٥
Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him1 and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."
28:26
قَالَتۡ
Said
إِحۡدَٮٰهُمَا
one of them
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
O my father
ٱسۡتَــٔۡجِرۡهُ‌ۖ
Hire him
إِنَّ
Indeed
خَيۡرَ
(the) best
مَنِ
whom
ٱسۡتَــٔۡجَرۡتَ
you (can) hire
ٱلۡقَوِىُّ
(is) the strong
ٱلۡأَمِينُ
the trustworthy
٢٦
One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy."
28:27
قَالَ
He said
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed, I
أُرِيدُ
[I] wish
أَنۡ
to
أُنكِحَكَ
marry you to
إِحۡدَى
one
ٱبۡنَتَىَّ
(of) my daughters
هَـٰتَيۡنِ
(of) these two
عَلَىٰٓ
on
أَن
that
تَأۡجُرَنِى
you serve me
ثَمَـٰنِىَ
(for) eight
حِجَجٍ‌ۖ
years
فَإِنۡ
but if
أَتۡمَمۡتَ
you complete
عَشۡرًا
ten
فَمِنۡ
then from
عِندِكَ‌ۖ
you
وَمَآ
And not
أُرِيدُ
I wish
أَنۡ
to
أَشُقَّ
make it difficult
عَلَيۡكَ‌ۚ
for you
سَتَجِدُنِىٓ
You will find me
إِن
if
شَآءَ
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ
Allah wills
مِنَ
of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
the righteous
٢٧
He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allāh wills, from among the righteous."
28:28
قَالَ
He said
ذٰلِكَ
That
بَيۡنِى
(is) between me
وَبَيۡنَكَ‌ۖ
and between you
أَيَّمَا
Whichever
ٱلۡأَجَلَيۡنِ
(of) the two terms
قَضَيۡتُ
I complete
فَلَا
then no
عُدۡوٰنَ
injustice
عَلَىَّ‌ۖ
to me
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
نَقُولُ
we say
وَكِيلٌ
(is) a Witness
٢٨
[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allāh, over what we say, is Witness."
28:29
۞فَلَمَّا
Then when
قَضَىٰ
Musa fulfilled
مُوسَى
Musa fulfilled
ٱلۡأَجَلَ
the term
وَسَارَ
and was traveling
بِأَهۡلِهِۦٓ
with his family
ءَانَسَ
he saw
مِن
in
جَانِبِ
(the) direction
ٱلطُّورِ
(of) Mount Tur
نَارًا
a fire
قَالَ
He said
لِأَهۡلِهِ
to his family
ٱمۡكُثُوٓاۡ
Stay here
إِنِّىٓ
indeed, I
ءَانَسۡتُ
[I] perceive
نَارًا
a fire
لَّعَلِّىٓ
Perhaps
ءَاتِيكُم
I will bring you
مِّنۡهَا
from there
بِخَبَرٍ
some information
أَوۡ
or
جَذۡوَةٍ
a burning wood
مِّنَ
from
ٱلنَّارِ
the fire
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَصۡطَلُونَ
warm yourselves
٢٩
And when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the direction of the mount a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves."
