Hizb 25
2 Surahs77 Versesالحزب 25
12:53
۞وَمَآ
And not
أُبَرِّئُ
I absolve
نَفۡسِىٓۚ
myself
إِنّ َ
Indeed
the soul
لَأَمّ َارَةُۢ
(is) a certain enjoiner
of evil
إِلَّا
unless
مَا
[that]
رَحِمَ
bestows Mercy
رَبِّىٓۚ
my Lord
إِنّ َ
Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
Most Merciful
And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."1
12:54
وَقَالَ
And said
the king
Bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ
Bring him to me
أَسۡتَخۡلِصۡهُ
I will select him
لِنَفۡسِىۖ
for myself
فَلَمّ َا
Then when
كَلَّمَهُۥ
he spoke to him
قَالَ
he said
إِنّ َكَ
Indeed, you
(are) today
لَدَيۡنَا
with us
مَكِينٌ
firmly established
أَمِي نٌ
٥٤(and) trusted
And the king said, "Bring him to me; I will appoint him exclusively for myself." And when he spoke to him, he said, "Indeed, you are today established [in position] and trusted."
12:55
قَالَ
He said
Appoint me
عَلَىٰ
over
خَزَا ٓئِنِ
(the) treasuries
(of) the land
إِنّ ِى
Indeed, I
حَفِيظٌ
(will be) a guardian
عَلِي مٌ
٥٥knowing
[Joseph] said, "Appoint me over the storehouses of the land. Indeed, I will be a knowing guardian."
12:56
وَكَذٰ لِكَ
And thus
مَكَّنّ َا
We established
لِيُوسُفَ
[to] Yusuf
فِى
in
the land
يَتَبَوَّأُ
to settle
مِنۡهَا
therein
حَيۡثُ
where ever
يَشَا ٓءُۚ
he willed
نُصِيبُ
We bestow
بِرَحۡمَتِنَا
Our Mercy
مَن
(on) whom
We will
وَلَا
And not
نُضِيعُ
We let go waste
أَجۡ رَ
(the) reward
(of) the good-doers
And thus We established Joseph in the land to settle therein wherever he willed. We touch with Our mercy whom We will, and We do not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.
12:57
وَلَأَجۡ رُ
And surely (the) reward
(of) the Hereafter
خَيۡرٌ
(is) better
for those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe
وَكَانُواۡ
and are
يَتَّقُو نَ
٥٧God conscious
And the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allāh.
12:58
وَجَا ٓءَ
And came
إِخۡوَةُ
(the) brothers
يُوسُفَ
(of) Yusuf
فَدَخَلُواۡ
and they entered
عَلَيۡهِ
upon him
فَعَرَفَهُمۡ
and he recognized them
وَهُمۡ
but they
لَهُۥ
knew him not
مُنك ِرُو نَ
٥٨knew him not
And the brothers of Joseph came [seeking food], and they entered upon him; and he recognized them, but he was to them unknown.1
12:59
وَلَمّ َا
And when
جَهَّزَهُم
he had furnished them
with their supplies
قَالَ
he said
Bring to me
بِأَخٍ
a brother
of yours
from
أَبِيكُمۡۚ
your father
أَلَا
Do not
تَرَوۡنَ
you see
أَنّ ِىٓ
that I
أُوفِى
[I] give full
[the] measure
وَأَنَاۡ
and that I am
خَيۡرُ
(the) best
(of) the hosts
And when he had furnished them with their supplies, he said, "Bring me a brother of yours from your father.1 Do you not see that I give full measure and that I am the best of accommodators?
12:60
فَإِن
But if
not
تَأۡتُونِى
you bring him to me
بِهِۦ
you bring him to me
فَلَا
then (there will be) no
كَيۡلَ

لَكُمۡ
for you
عِند ِى
from me
وَلَا
and not
تَقۡ رَبُو نِ
٦٠you will come near me
But if you do not bring him to me, no measure will there be [hereafter] for you from me, nor will you approach me."
12:61
قَالُواۡ
They said
سَنُرٰ وِدُ
We will try to get permission
عَنۡهُ
for him
أَبَاهُ
(from) his father
وَإِنّ َا
and indeed we
لَفَـٰ عِلُو نَ
٦١surely will do
They said, "We will attempt to dissuade his father from [keeping] him, and indeed, we will do [it]."
12:62
وَقَالَ
And he said
لِفِتۡيَـٰ نِهِ
to his servants
Put
بِضَـٰ عَتَهُمۡ
their merchandise
فِى
in
رِحَالِهِمۡ
their saddlebags
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
so that they
يَعۡرِفُونَهَآ
may recognize it
إِذَا
when
they go back
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَهۡلِهِمۡ
their people
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
so that they may
يَرۡجِعُو نَ
٦٢return
And [Joseph] said to his servants, "Put their merchandise1 into their saddlebags so they might recognize it when they have gone back to their people that perhaps they will [again] return."
12:63
فَلَمّ َا
So when
رَجَعُوٓ اۡ
they returned
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَبِيهِمۡ
their father
قَالُواۡ
they said
يَـٰٓ أَبَانَا
O our father
مُنِعَ
Has been denied
مِنّ َا
to us
the measure
فَأَرۡسِلۡ
so send
مَعَنَآ
with us
أَخَانَا
our brother
نَكۡتَلۡ
(that) we will get measure
وَإِنّ َا
And indeed, we
لَهُۥ
for him
لَحَـٰ فِظُو نَ
٦٣(will) surely (be) guardians
So when they returned to their father, they said, "O our father, [further] measure has been denied to us, so send with us our brother [that] we will be given measure. And indeed, we will be his guardians."
12:64
قَالَ
He said
هَلۡ
Should
ءَامَنُكُمۡ
I entrust you
عَلَيۡهِ
with him
إِلَّا
except
كَمَآ
as
أَمِنت ُكُمۡ
I entrusted you
عَلَىٰٓ
with
أَخِيهِ
his brother

before
فَٱ للَّهُ
But Allah
خَيۡرٌ
(is) the best
حَـٰ فِظًاۖ

and He
أَرۡحَمُ
(is the) Most Merciful
(of) the merciful
He said, "Should I entrust you with him except [under coercion] as I entrusted you with his brother before? But Allāh is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful."
12:65
وَلَمّ َا
And when
فَتَحُواۡ
they opened
مَتَـٰ عَهُمۡ
their baggage
وَجَدُواۡ
they found
بِضَـٰ عَتَهُمۡ
their merchandise
رُدَّتۡ
returned
إِلَيۡهِمۡۖ
to them
قَالُواۡ
They said
يَـٰٓ أَبَانَا
O our father
مَا
What
نَبۡ غِىۖ
(could) we desire
هَـٰ ذِهِۦ
This
بِضَـٰ عَتُنَا
(is) our merchandise
رُدَّتۡ
returned
إِلَيۡنَاۖ
to us
وَنَمِيرُ
And we will get provision
أَهۡلَنَا
(for) our family
وَنَحۡفَظُ
and we will protect
أَخَانَا
our brother
وَنَزۡدَادُ
and get an increase
كَيۡلَ
measure
بَعِيرٍۖ
(of) a camel's (load)
That
كَيۡلٌ
(is) a measurement
easy
And when they opened their baggage, they found their merchandise returned to them. They said, "O our father, what [more] could we desire? This is our merchandise returned to us. And we will obtain supplies [i.e., food] for our family and protect our brother and obtain an increase of a camel's load; that is an easy measurement."1
12:66
قَالَ
He said
لَنۡ
Never
أُرۡسِلَهُۥ
will I send him
مَعَكُمۡ

حَتَّىٰ
until

that surely you will bring him to me

you are surrounded
فَلَمّ َآ
And when
ءَاتَوۡهُ
they had given him

their promise
قَالَ
he said
Allah

٦٦(is) a Guardian
[Jacob] said, "Never will I send him with you until you give me a promise [i.e., oath] by Allāh that you will bring him [back] to me, unless you should be surrounded [i.e., overcome by enemies]." And when they had given their promise, he said, "Allāh, over what we say, is Entrusted."1
12:67
وَقَالَ
And he said
يَـٰ بَنِىَّ
O my sons

the ones who put trust
And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allāh at all. The decision is only for Allāh; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely."
12:68
وَلَمّ َا
And when
دَخَلُواۡ
they entered

Yaqub's soul

which he carried out
وَإِنّ َهُۥ
And indeed, he
لَذُو
(was) a possessor
عِلۡمٍ
(of) knowledge
because

وَلَـٰ كِنّ َ
but
أَكۡثَرَ
most

٦٨know
And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allāh at all except [it was] a need [i.e., concern] within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know.
12:69
وَلَمّ َا
And when
دَخَلُواۡ
they entered
عَلَىٰ
upon
يُوسُفَ
Yusuf
ءَاوَىٰٓ
he took
إِلَيۡهِ
to himself
أَخَاهُۖ
his brother
قَالَ
He said
إِنّ ِىٓ
Indeed, I
أَنَاۡ
[I] am
أَخُوكَ
your brother
فَلَا
so (do) not
تَبۡ تَئِسۡ
grieve
بِمَا
for what
كَانُواۡ
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُو نَ
٦٩do
And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, "Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]."
12:70
فَلَمّ َا
So when
جَهَّزَهُم
he had furnished them
with their supplies
جَعَلَ
he put
the drinking cup
فِى
in
رَحۡلِ
the bag
أَخِيهِ
(of) his brother
ثُمّ َ
Then
أَذَّنَ
called out
مُؤَذِّنٌ
an announcer
أَيَّتُهَا
O you
(in) the caravan
إِنّ َكُمۡ
Indeed, you
لَسَـٰ رِقُو نَ
٧٠surely (are) thieves
So when he had furnished them with their supplies, he put the [gold measuring] bowl into the bag of his brother. Then an announcer called out, "O caravan, indeed you are thieves."
12:71
قَالُواۡ
They said
وَأَقۡ بَلُواۡ
turning towards
عَلَيۡهِم
them
What (is it)
تَفۡقِدُو نَ
٧١you miss
They said while approaching them, "What is it you are missing?"
12:72
قَالُواۡ
They said
نَفۡقِدُ
We are missing
صُوَاعَ
(the) cup
(of) the king
وَلِمَن
And for (one) who
brings
بِهِۦ
it
حِمۡلُ
(is) a load
بَعِيرٍ
(of) a camel
and I
بِهِۦ
for it
زَعِي مٌ
٧٢(is) responsible
They said, "We are missing the measure of the king. And for he who produces it is [the reward of] a camel's load, and I am responsible for it."
12:73
قَالُواۡ
They said
تَٱ للَّهِ
By Allah
لَقَدۡ

we are
سَـٰ رِقِي نَ
٧٣thieves
They said, "By Allāh, you have certainly known that we did not come to cause corruption in the land, and we have not been thieves."
12:74
قَالُواۡ
They said
فَمَا
Then what
جَزٰ ٓؤُهُۥٓ
(will be the) recompense (of) it
إِن
if
you are
كَـٰ ذِبِي نَ
٧٤liars
They [the accusers] said, "Then what would be its recompense1 if you should be liars?"
12:75
قَالُواۡ
They said
جَزٰ ٓؤُهُۥ
Its recompense
مَن

in

فَهُوَ
then he
جَزٰ ٓؤُهُۥ ۚ
(will be) his recompense
كَذٰ لِكَ
Thus
نَجۡ زِى
(do) we recompense
the wrongdoers
[The brothers] said, "Its recompense is that he in whose bag it is found - he [himself] will be its recompense.1 Thus do we recompense the wrongdoers."
12:76
فَبَدَأَ
So he began

then
he brought it out

(did) We plan
لِيُوسُفَۖ
for Yusuf

He could not

He could not

عَلِي مٌ
٧٦(is) the All-Knower
So he began [the search] with their bags before the bag of his brother; then he extracted it from the bag of his brother. Thus did We plan for Joseph. He could not have taken his brother within the religion [i.e., law] of the king except that Allāh willed. We raise in degrees whom We will, but over every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing.1
12:77
۞قَالُوٓ اۡ

They said, "If he steals - a brother of his has stolen before." But Joseph kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them.1 He said, "You are worse in position, and Allāh is most knowing of what you describe."
12:78
