Hizb 2

1 Surahs67 Versesالحزب 2
2:75
۞أَفَتَطۡمَعُونَ
Do you hope
أَن
that
يُؤۡمِنُواۡ
they will believe
لَكُمۡ
[for] you
وَقَدۡ
while indeed
كَانَ
(there) has been
فَرِيقٌ
a party
مِّنۡهُمۡ
of them
يَسۡمَعُونَ
(who used to) hear
كَلَـٰمَ
(the) words
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ثُمَّ
then
يُحَرِّفُونَهُۥ
they distort it
مِنۢ
from
بَعۡدِ
after
مَا
[what]
عَقَلُوهُ
they understood it
وَهُمۡ
while they
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
٧٥
Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allāh and then distort it [i.e., the Torah] after they had understood it while they were knowing?
2:76
وَإِذَا
And when
لَقُواۡ
they meet
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believe[d]
قَالُوٓاۡ
they say
ءَامَنَّا
We have believed
وَإِذَا
But when
خَلَا
meet in private
بَعۡضُهُمۡ
some of them
إِلَىٰ
with
بَعۡضٍ
some (others)
قَالُوٓاۡ
they say
أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم
Do you tell them
بِمَا
what
فَتَحَ
has
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
to you
لِيُحَآجُّوكُم
so that they argue with you
بِهِۦ
therewith
عِندَ
before
رَبِّكُمۡ‌ۚ
your Lord
أَفَلَا
Then do (you) not
تَعۡقِلُونَ
understand
٧٦
And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We have believed"; but when they are alone with one another, they say, "Do you talk to them about what Allāh has revealed to you so they can argue with you about it before your Lord?" Then will you not reason?
2:77
أَوَلَا
Do not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
they know
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
يُسِرُّونَ
they conceal
وَمَا
and what
يُعۡلِنُونَ
they declare
٧٧
But do they not know that Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare?
2:78
وَمِنۡهُمۡ
And among them
أُمِّيُّونَ
(are) unlettered ones
لَا
(who) do not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the book
إِلَّآ
except
أَمَانِىَّ
wishful thinking
وَإِنۡ
and not
هُمۡ
they
إِلَّا
(do anything) except
يَظُنُّونَ
guess
٧٨
And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except [indulgement in] wishful thinking, but they are only assuming.
2:79
فَوَيۡلٌ
So woe
لِّلَّذِينَ
to those who
يَكۡتُبُونَ
write
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the book
بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ
with their (own) hands
ثُمَّ
then
يَقُولُونَ
they say
هَـٰذَا
This
مِنۡ
(is)
عِندِ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
لِيَشۡتَرُواۡ
to barter
بِهِۦ
with it
ثَمَنًا
(for) a price
قَلِيلاً‌ۖ
little
فَوَيۡلٌ
So woe
لَّهُم
to them
مِّمَّا
for what
كَتَبَتۡ
have written
أَيۡدِيهِمۡ
their hands
وَوَيۡلٌ
and woe
لَّهُم
to them
مِّمَّا
for what
يَكۡسِبُونَ
they earn
٧٩
So woe1 to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allāh," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.
2:80
وَقَالُواۡ
And they say
لَن
Never
تَمَسَّنَا
will touch us
ٱلنَّارُ
the Fire
إِلَّآ
except
أَيَّامًا
(for) days
مَّعۡدُودَةً‌ۚ
numbered
قُلۡ
Say
أَتَّخَذۡتُمۡ
Have you taken
عِندَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
عَهۡدًا
a covenant
فَلَن
so never
يُخۡلِفَ
will break
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
عَهۡدَهُۥٓ‌ۖ
His Covenant
أَمۡ
Or
تَقُولُونَ
(do) you say
عَلَى
against
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
you know
٨٠
And they say, "Never will the Fire touch us, except for [a few] numbered days." Say, "Have you taken a covenant with Allāh? For Allāh will never break His covenant. Or do you say about Allāh that which you do not know?"
2:81
بَلَىٰ
Yes
مَن
whoever
كَسَبَ
earned
سَيِّئَةً
evil
وَأَحَـٰطَتۡ
and surrounded him
بِهِۦ
with
خَطِيٓــَٔتُهُۥ
his sins
فَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
[so] those
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِ‌ۖ
(of) the Fire
هُمۡ
they
فِيهَا
in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ
(will) abide forever
٨١
Yes, [on the contrary], whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
2:82
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ءَامَنُواۡ
believed
وَعَمِلُواۡ
and did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
righteous deeds
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
those
أَصۡحَـٰبُ
(are the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ‌ۖ
(of) Paradise
هُمۡ
they
فِيهَا
in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ
(will) abide forever
٨٢
But they who believe and do righteous deeds - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.
2:83
وَإِذۡ
And when
أَخَذۡنَا
We took
مِيثَـٰقَ
(the) covenant
بَنِىٓ
(from the) Children
إِسۡرٰٓءِيلَ
(of) Israel
لَا
Not
تَعۡبُدُونَ
you will worship
إِلَّا
except
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَبِٱلۡوٰلِدَيۡنِ
and with [the] parents
إِحۡسَانًا
(be) good
وَذِى
and (with)
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
relatives
وَٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ
and [the] orphans
وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِينِ
and the needy
وَقُولُواۡ
and speak
لِلنَّاسِ
to [the] people
حُسۡنًا
good
وَأَقِيمُواۡ
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتُواۡ
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
the zakah
ثُمَّ
Then
تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ
you turned away
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلاً
a few
مِّنكُمۡ
of you
وَأَنتُم
and you (were)
مُّعۡرِضُونَ
refusing
٨٣
And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allāh; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakāh." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.
2:84
وَإِذۡ
And when
أَخَذۡنَا
We took
مِيثَـٰقَكُمۡ
your covenant
لَا
Not
تَسۡفِكُونَ
will you shed
دِمَآءَكُمۡ
your blood
وَلَا
and not
تُخۡرِجُونَ
(will) evict
أَنفُسَكُم
yourselves
مِّن
from
دِيَـٰرِكُمۡ
your homes
ثُمَّ
then
أَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ
you ratified
وَأَنتُمۡ
while you
تَشۡهَدُونَ
(were) witnessing
٨٤
And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], "Do not shed your [i.e., each other's] blood or evict one another from your homes." Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing.
2:85
ثُمَّ
Then
أَنتُمۡ
you
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
(are) those
تَقۡتُلُونَ
(who) kill
أَنفُسَكُمۡ
yourselves
وَتُخۡرِجُونَ
and evict
فَرِيقًا
a party
مِّنكُم
of you
مِّن
from
دِيَـٰرِهِمۡ
their homes
تَظَـٰهَرُونَ
you support one another
عَلَيۡهِم
against them
بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ
in sin
وَٱلۡعُدۡوٰنِ
and [the] transgression
وَإِن
And if
يَأۡتُوكُمۡ
they come to you
أُسَـٰرَىٰ
(as) captives
تُفَـٰدُوهُمۡ
you ransom them
وَهُوَ
while it
مُحَرَّمٌ
(was) forbidden
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
to you
إِخۡرَاجُهُمۡ‌ۚ
their eviction
أَفَتُؤۡمِنُونَ
So do you believe
بِبَعۡضِ
in part (of)
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ
the Book
وَتَكۡفُرُونَ
and disbelieve
بِبَعۡضٍ‌ۚ
in part
فَمَا
Then what
جَزَآءُ
(should be the) recompense
مَن
(for the one) who
يَفۡعَلُ
does
ذٰلِكَ
that
مِنكُمۡ
among you
إِلَّا
except
خِزۡىٌ
disgrace
فِى
in
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا‌ۖ
(of) the world
وَيَوۡمَ
and (on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
of [the] Resurrection
يُرَدُّونَ
they will be sent back
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَشَدِّ
(the) most severe
ٱلۡعَذَابِ‌ۗ
punishment
وَمَا
And not
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
بِغَـٰفِلٍ
unaware
عَمَّا
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
you do
٨٥
Then, you are those [same ones who are] killing one another and evicting a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allāh is not unaware of what you do.
2:86
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones who
ٱشۡتَرَوُاۡ
bought
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
(of) the world
بِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ‌ۖ
for the Hereafter
فَلَا
so not
يُخَفَّفُ
will be lightened
عَنۡهُمُ
for them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
the punishment
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يُنصَرُونَ
will be helped
٨٦
Those are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided.
2:87
وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
ءَاتَيۡنَا
We gave
مُوسَى
Musa
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
وَقَفَّيۡنَا
and We followed up
مِنۢ
from
بَعۡدِهِۦ
after him
بِٱلرُّسُلِ‌ۖ
with [the] Messengers
وَءَاتَيۡنَا
And We gave
عِيسَى
Isa
ٱبۡنَ
(the) son
مَرۡيَمَ
(of) Maryam
ٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ
[the] clear signs
وَأَيَّدۡنَـٰهُ
and We supported him
بِرُوحِ
(with)
ٱلۡقُدُسِ‌ۗ
the Holy Spirit
أَفَكُلَّمَا
Is it (not) so (that) whenever
جَآءَكُمۡ
came to you
رَسُولُۢ
a Messenger
بِمَا
with what
لَا
(does) not
تَهۡوَىٰٓ
desire
أَنفُسُكُمُ
yourselves
ٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ
you acted arrogantly
فَفَرِيقًا
So a party
كَذَّبۡتُمۡ
you denied
وَفَرِيقًا
and a party
تَقۡتُلُونَ
you kill(ed)
٨٧
And We did certainly give Moses the Scripture [i.e., the Torah] and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel]. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.
2:88
وَقَالُواۡ
And they said
قُلُوبُنَا
Our hearts
غُلۡفُۢ‌ۚ
(are) wrapped
بَل
Nay
لَّعَنَهُمُ
has cursed them
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ
for their disbelief
فَقَلِيلاً
so little
مَّا
(is) what
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
they believe
٨٨
And they said, "Our hearts are wrapped."1 But, [in fact], Allāh has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is it that they believe.
2:89
وَلَمَّا
And when
جَآءَهُمۡ
came to them
كِتَـٰبٌ
a Book
مِّنۡ
of
عِندِ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مُصَدِّقٌ
confirming
لِّمَا
what (was)
مَعَهُمۡ
with them
وَكَانُواۡ
though they used to
مِن
from
قَبۡلُ
before
يَسۡتَفۡتِحُونَ
(that), pray for victory
عَلَى
over
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواۡ
disbelieved
فَلَمَّا
then when
جَآءَهُم
came to them
مَّا
what
عَرَفُواۡ
they recognized
كَفَرُواۡ
they disbelieved
بِهِۦ‌ۚ
in it
فَلَعۡنَةُ
So (the) curse
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَى
(is) on
ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
٨٩
And when there came to them a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] from Allāh confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allāh will be upon the disbelievers.
2:90
بِئۡسَمَا
Evil (is) that
ٱشۡتَرَوۡاۡ
(for) which they have sold
بِهِۦٓ
with
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
themselves
أَن
that
يَكۡفُرُواۡ
they disbelieve
بِمَآ
in what
أَنزَلَ
has revealed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بَغۡيًا
grudging
أَن
that
يُنَزِّلَ
sends down
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
مِن
of
فَضۡلِهِۦ
His Grace
عَلَىٰ
on
مَن
whom
يَشَآءُ
He wills
مِنۡ
from
عِبَادِهِۦ‌ۖ
His servants
فَبَآءُو
So they have drawn (on themselves)
بِغَضَبٍ
wrath
عَلَىٰ
upon
غَضَبٍ‌ۚ
wrath
وَلِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
مُّهِينٌ
humiliating
٩٠
How wretched is that for which they sold themselves - that they would disbelieve in what Allāh has revealed through [their] outrage that Allāh would send down His favor upon whom He wills from among His servants. So they returned having [earned] wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment.
2:91
وَإِذَا
And when
قِيلَ
it is said
لَهُمۡ
to them
ءَامِنُواۡ
Believe
بِمَآ
in what
أَنزَلَ
has revealed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
قَالُواۡ
they say
نُؤۡمِنُ
We believe
بِمَآ
in what
أُنزِلَ
was revealed
عَلَيۡنَا
to us
وَيَكۡفُرُونَ
And they disbelieve
بِمَا
in what
وَرَآءَهُۥ
(is) besides it
وَهُوَ
while it
ٱلۡحَقُّ
(is) the truth
مُصَدِّقًا
confirming
لِّمَا
what
مَعَهُمۡ‌ۗ
(is) with them
قُلۡ
Say
فَلِمَ
Then why
تَقۡتُلُونَ
(did) you kill
أَنۢبِيَآءَ
(the) Prophets
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
مِن
from
قَبۡلُ
before
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you were
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
believers
٩١
And when it is said to them, "Believe in what Allāh has revealed," they say, "We believe [only] in what was revealed to us." And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, "Then why did you kill the prophets of Allāh before, if you are [indeed] believers?"
2:92
۞وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
جَآءَكُم
came to you
مُّوسَىٰ
Musa
بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ
with [the] clear signs
ثُمَّ
then
ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ
you took
ٱلۡعِجۡلَ
the calf
مِنۢ
from
بَعۡدِهِۦ
after him
وَأَنتُمۡ
and you
ظَـٰلِمُونَ
(were) wrongdoers
٩٢
And Moses had certainly brought you clear proofs. Then you took the calf [in worship] after that, while you were wrongdoers.
2:93
وَإِذۡ
And when
أَخَذۡنَا
We took
مِيثَـٰقَكُمۡ
your covenant
وَرَفَعۡنَا
and We raised
فَوۡقَكُمُ
over you
ٱلطُّورَ
the mount
خُذُواۡ
Hold
مَآ
what
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰكُم
We gave you
بِقُوَّةٍ
with firmness
وَٱسۡمَعُواۡ‌ۖ
and listen
قَالُواۡ
They said
سَمِعۡنَا
We heard
وَعَصَيۡنَا
and we disobeyed
وَأُشۡرِبُواۡ
And they were made to drink
فِى
in
قُلُوبِهِمُ
their hearts
ٱلۡعِجۡلَ
(love of) the calf
بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ‌ۚ
because of their disbelief
قُلۡ
Say
بِئۡسَمَا
Evil (is) that
يَأۡمُرُكُم
orders you (to do) it
بِهِۦٓ
with
إِيمَـٰنُكُمۡ
your faith
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
believers
٩٣
And [recall] when We took your covenant and raised over you the mount, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination and listen." They said [instead], "We hear and disobey." And their hearts absorbed [the worship of] the calf because of their disbelief. Say, "How wretched is that which your faith enjoins upon you, if you should be believers."
2:94
قُلۡ
Say
إِن
If
كَانَتۡ
is
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلدَّارُ
the home
ٱلۡأَخِرَةُ
(of) the Hereafter
عِندَ
with
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
خَالِصَةً
exclusively
مِّن
from
دُونِ
excluding
ٱلنَّاسِ
the mankind
فَتَمَنَّوُاۡ
then wish
ٱلۡمَوۡتَ
(for) [the] death
إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
truthful
٩٤
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the home of the Hereafter with Allāh is for you alone and not the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."
2:95
وَلَن
And never (will)
يَتَمَنَّوۡهُ
they wish for it
أَبَدَۢا
ever
بِمَا
because
قَدَّمَتۡ
(of what) sent ahead
أَيۡدِيهِمۡ‌ۗ
their hands
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
(is) All-Knower
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
of the wrongdoers
٩٥
But never will they wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
2:96
وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمۡ
And surely you will find them
أَحۡرَصَ
(the) most greedy
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) [the] mankind
عَلَىٰ
for
حَيَوٰةٍ
life
وَمِنَ
and (greedier) than
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أَشۡرَكُواۡ‌ۚ
associate[d] partners (with Allah)
يَوَدُّ
Loves
أَحَدُهُمۡ
(each) one of them
لَوۡ
if
يُعَمَّرُ
he could be granted a life
أَلۡفَ
(of) a thousand
سَنَةٍ
year(s)
وَمَا
But not
هُوَ
it
بِمُزَحۡزِحِهِۦ
(will) remove him
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
the punishment
أَن
that
يُعَمَّرَ‌ۗ
he should be granted life
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
بَصِيرُۢ
(is) All-Seer
بِمَا
of what
يَعۡمَلُونَ
they do
٩٦
And you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life - [even] more than those who associate others with Allāh. One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allāh is Seeing of what they do.
2:97
قُلۡ
Say
مَن
Whoever
كَانَ
is
عَدُوًّا
an enemy
لِّجِبۡرِيلَ
to Jibreel
فَإِنَّهُۥ
then indeed he
نَزَّلَهُۥ
brought it down
عَلَىٰ
on
قَلۡبِكَ
your heart
بِإِذۡنِ
by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
مُصَدِّقًا
confirming
لِّمَا
what
بَيۡنَ
(was)
يَدَيۡهِ
before it
وَهُدًى
and a guidance
وَبُشۡرَىٰ
and glad tiding(s)
لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
for the believers
٩٧
Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down upon your heart, [O Muḥammad], by permission of Allāh, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers."
2:98
مَن
Whoever
كَانَ
is
عَدُوًّا
an enemy
لِّلَّهِ
(to) Allah
وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ
and His Angels
وَرُسُلِهِۦ
and His Messengers
وَجِبۡرِيلَ
and Jibreel
وَمِيكَـٰلَ
and Meekael
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَدُوٌّ
(is) an enemy
لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
to the disbelievers
٩٨
Whoever is an enemy to Allāh and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel and Michael - then indeed, Allāh is an enemy to the disbelievers.
2:99
وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
أَنزَلۡنَآ
We revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
ءَايَـٰتِۭ
Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ‌ۖ
clear
وَمَا
and not
يَكۡفُرُ
disbelieves
بِهَآ
in them
إِلَّا
except
ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ
the defiantly disobedient
٩٩
And We have certainly revealed to you verses [which are] clear proofs, and no one would deny them except the defiantly disobedient.
2:100
أَوَكُلَّمَا
And is (it not that) whenever
عَـٰهَدُواۡ
they took
عَهۡدًا
a covenant
نَّبَذَهُۥ
threw it away
فَرِيقٌ
a party
مِّنۡهُم‌ۚ
of them
بَلۡ
Nay
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
believe
١٠٠
Is it not [true] that every time they took a covenant a party of them threw it away? But, [in fact], most of them do not believe.
2:101
وَلَمَّا
And when
جَآءَهُمۡ
came to them
رَسُولٌ
a Messenger
مِّنۡ

عِندِ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مُصَدِّقٌ
confirming
لِّمَا

مَعَهُمۡ

نَبَذَ

of
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أُوتُواۡ
were given
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
كِتَـٰبَ
(the) Book
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَرَآءَ
behind
ظُهُورِهِمۡ
their backs
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
as if they
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
١٠١
And when a messenger from Allāh came to them confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allāh [i.e., the Torah] behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained].
2:102
وَٱتَّبَعُواۡ
And they followed

And not

ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
the devils
كَفَرُواۡ

they teach
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
ٱلسِّحۡرَ

and what
أُنزِلَ

بِإِذۡنِ
by permission
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ

And they learn
مَا

يَضُرُّهُمۡ
harms them
وَلَا

وَلَقَدۡ
And indeed
عَلِمُواۡ
they knew
لَمَنِ
that whoever

in
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
مِنۡ
any
خَلَـٰقٍ‌ۚ

وَلَبِئۡسَ
And surely evil
مَا
(is) what
شَرَوۡاۡ
they sold
بِهِۦٓ
with it
أَنفُسَهُمۡ‌ۚ
themselves
لَوۡ
if
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَعۡلَمُونَ
(to) know
١٠٢
And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Hārūt and Mārūt. But they [i.e., the two angels] do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]."1 And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allāh. And they [i.e., people] learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But they [i.e., the Children of Israel] certainly knew that whoever purchased it [i.e., magic] would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.
2:103
وَلَوۡ
And if
أَنَّهُمۡ
[that] they
ءَامَنُواۡ
(had) believed
وَٱتَّقَوۡاۡ
and feared (Allah)
لَمَثُوبَةٌ
surely (the) reward

from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
خَيۡرٌ‌ۖ
(would have been) better
لَّوۡ
if
كَانُواۡ
they were
يَعۡلَمُونَ
(to) know
١٠٣
And if they had believed and feared Allāh, then the reward from Allāh would have been [far] better, if they only knew.
2:104
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who

and listen
وَلِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful
١٠٤
O you who have believed, say not [to Allāh's Messenger], "Rāʿinā" but say, "Unẓurnā"1 and listen. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.
2:105
مَّا

And Allah
ذُو
(is the) Possessor
ٱلۡفَضۡلِ
(of) [the] Bounty
ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
[the] Great
١٠٥
Neither those who disbelieve from the People of the Scripture [i.e., the Jews and Christians] nor the polytheists wish that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allāh selects for His mercy whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
2:106

١٠٦
We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allāh is over all things competent?
2:107
أَلَمۡ
Do not

Do you not know that to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and [that] you have not besides Allāh any protector or any helper?
2:108
أَمۡ
Or

١٠٨
Or do you intend to ask1 your Messenger as Moses was asked before? And whoever exchanges faith for disbelief has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way.

So forgive

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَلَىٰ
on
كُلِّ
every

thing
قَدِيرٌ
(is) All-Powerful
١٠٩
Many of the People of the Scripture wish they could turn you back to disbelief after you have believed, out of envy from themselves [even] after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allāh delivers His command. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
2:110
وَأَقِيمُواۡ
And establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتُواۡ
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ‌ۚ
[the] zakah

And whatever
تُقَدِّمُواۡ
you send forth
لِأَنفُسِكُم
for yourselves
مِّنۡ
of

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ

١١٠
And establish prayer and give zakāh, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allāh. Indeed Allāh, of what you do, is Seeing.
2:111
وَقَالُواۡ
And they said
لَن
Never
يَدۡخُلَ
will enter
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
the Paradise
إِلَّا
except
مَن
who
كَانَ
is
هُودًا
(a) Jew[s]
أَوۡ
or
نَصَـٰرَىٰ‌ۗ
(a) Christian[s]
تِلۡكَ
That
أَمَانِيُّهُمۡ‌ۗ

قُلۡ
Say

Bring
بُرۡهَـٰنَكُمۡ

إِن
if
كُنتُمۡ

صَـٰدِقِينَ
[those who are] truthful
١١١
And they say, "None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian." That is [merely] their wishful thinking. Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
2:112
بَلَىٰ
Yes
مَنۡ
whoever
أَسۡلَمَ
submits
وَجۡهَهُۥ
his face
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
وَهُوَ

مُحۡسِنٌ
(is) a good-doer
فَلَهُۥٓ
so for him
أَجۡرُهُۥ
(is) his reward
عِندَ
with
رَبِّهِۦ
his Lord

And no
خَوۡفٌ
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
(will be) on them
وَلَا
and not
هُمۡ
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
(will) grieve
١١٢
Yes, [on the contrary], whoever submits his face [i.e., self] in Islām to Allāh while being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.
2:113
وَقَالَتِ
And said

ٱلۡيَهُودُ
the Jews

anything
وَهُمۡ

ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ‌ۗ
the Book
كَذٰلِكَ
Like that
قَالَ
said
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
مِثۡلَ
similar
قَوۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ
their saying
فَٱللَّهُ
[So] Allah
يَحۡكُمُ
will judge
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
between them
يَوۡمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ
(of) Resurrection
فِيمَا
in what
كَانُواۡ
they were
فِيهِ
[in it]
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
differing
١١٣
The Jews say, "The Christians have nothing [true] to stand on," and the Christians say, "The Jews have nothing to stand on," although they [both] recite the Scripture. Thus do those who know not [i.e., the polytheists] speak the same as their words. But Allāh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
2:114
وَمَنۡ
And who
أَظۡلَمُ

مِمَّن
than (one) who
مَّنَعَ
prevents
مَسَـٰجِدَ

ٱللَّهِ

their destruction
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those

Not

it is
لَهُمۡ
for them
أَن
that
يَدۡخُلُوهَآ
they enter them

خَآئِفِينَ‌ۚ
(like) those in fear
لَهُمۡ
For them
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
the world
خِزۡىٌ
(is) disgrace
وَلَهُمۡ
and for them
فِى
in
ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great
١١٤
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allāh from being mentioned [i.e., praised] in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.
2:115
وَلِلَّهِ
And for Allah
ٱلۡمَشۡرِقُ
(is) the east
وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبُ‌ۚ
and the west
فَأَيۡنَمَا
so wherever
تُوَلُّواۡ
you turn
فَثَمَّ
[so] there
وَجۡهُ
(is the) face
ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ
(of) Allah
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وٰسِعٌ
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knowing
١١٥
And to Allāh belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face1 of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
2:116
وَقَالُواۡ
And they said
ٱتَّخَذَ
has taken
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
وَلَدًا‌ۗ
a son
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ‌ۖ
Glory be to Him

Nay
لَّهُۥ
for Him
مَا

ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۖ
and the earth
كُلٌّ
All
لَّهُۥ
to Him
قَـٰنِتُونَ
(are) humbly obedient
١١٦
They say, "Allāh has taken a son." Exalted is He!1 Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are devoutly obedient to Him,
2:117
بَدِيعُ
(The) Originator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۖ
and the earth
وَإِذَا
And when

He decrees
أَمۡرًا
a matter
فَإِنَّمَا
[so] only
يَقُولُ
He says
لَهُۥ
to it
كُن
Be
فَيَكُونُ
and it becomes
١١٧
Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
2:118
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who

Indeed
بَيَّنَّا
We have made clear
ٱلۡأَيَـٰتِ
the signs
لِقَوۡمٍ
for people
يُوقِنُونَ
(who) firmly believe
١١٨
Those who do not know say, "Why does Allāh not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith].
2:119
إِنَّآ
Indeed We
أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ
[We] have sent you
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
with the truth
بَشِيرًا
(as) a bearer of good news
وَنَذِيرًا‌ۖ

you will be asked
عَنۡ
about
أَصۡحَـٰبِ

ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
(of) the blazing Fire
١١٩
Indeed, We have sent you, [O Muḥammad], with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire.
2:120
وَلَن
And never
تَرۡضَىٰ
will be pleased
عَنكَ

ٱلۡيَهُودُ
the Jews

وَلَئِنِ
And if
ٱتَّبَعۡتَ
you follow
أَهۡوَآءَهُم
their desires

مِنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مِن
any

نَصِيرٍ
any helper
١٢٠
And never will the Jews and the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allāh is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allāh no protector or helper.
2:121
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those
ءَاتَيۡنَـٰهُمُ
We have given them
ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
the Book
يَتۡلُونَهُۥ
recite it
حَقَّ
(as it has the) right
تِلَاوَتِهِۦٓ
(of) its recitation
أُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
Those (people)

in it
وَمَن
And whoever
يَكۡفُرۡ
disbelieves
بِهِۦ
in it
فَأُوۡلَـٰٓئِكَ
then those
هُمُ
they
ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ
(are) the losers
١٢١
Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital.1 They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers.
